Had an okay first experience but would give it another shot. The flavor of the latte was really good! However, I asked for an iced pistachio latte & got a hot one instead which I was flexible about because it was cold outside anyway. I do think the hot matcha had way too little in the cup and I apologized to my coworker when I took it out of the cup container and realized how light it was. I would go back for flavor but not sure if it's worth it for the 12 oz when it's so partially filled. The 16 oz was filled more to the top so I would recommend you order the bigger size if you stop by to try it. read more

Came to Hideout Coffee after being recommended by a friend. I have been on the lookout for a new matcha spot and this is the place to be! They have different options for their match but i went with an iced matcha with sea salt cream top (which was very yummy!) The staff was very knowledgeable about the drinks and were able to answer all my questions. Overall this is such a cute spot a literally hidden gem. I tried their pistachio signature latte, and it came with bits of pistachio in the drink. First sip was quite pleasant. I don't know what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. Def worth a visit to see for yourself. This new coffee place kinda fits a niche that old town Monrovia doesn't have yet - specifically the "to-go hand-crafted coffee" niche. I read another review here that rated based on seating - which reminded me that we rate these places based on what they aim to be not what we want them to be. So you wouldn't expect a to-go coffee shop that is literally just a door in a wall, to have tables and seats right? My experience was amazing with this place! It has the highest quality drinks and their matchas are so very delicious and are to die for! The service is also amazing! The cashier girl definitely is not pleasant lol upon reading the other reviews, our experience made sense. Idk, to me I think anyone being the face of a company/first impression should be extra nice , friendly, welcoming and maybe even a tad bit bubbly? Especially if they're the only person that the average customer interacts with. She just looked miserable and spoke to us in a non pleasant way but that makes me sad for the business owner who worked so hard to open this spot I'm sure. It's such a cute concept, a walk up coffee shop in the heart of Monrovia! It's a cute little coffee window (gives me Europe wine window vibes!). The area has a lot of parking and it's next to the sister restaurant, which is Acai Bar. The quality of my matcha was superb. Five stars for the quality of the Matcha. Just like I like it it's not overly sweet and you really get the earthy flavor. It's super convenient place for coffee if you're visiting library park or the library to deal with the crowds on Myrtle because it recently opened there usually is a line and disappointed at these prices not my name can't be called when I give it to them. Nestled in the streets of Old Town Monrovia, this charming new coffee shop caught our attention. My boyfriend and I decided to stop by on a Saturday morning to give it a try. I found it quite endearing, tucked between two stores--almost like a hidden gem. When we arrived, there was a short line, and it took about 10 minutes before we could place our order. I opted for an iced mocha with a cream top, while my boyfriend went for a pistachio latte with oat milk. Both 12oz drinks came to around $15, which felt pretty standard for today's prices. We received our drinks about 5 minutes later, but I wasn't particularly impressed. First, they forgot the cream top on my mocha, though they were quick to correct it when I mentioned it. That added a few extra minutes to the wait. I understand that they're still finding their rhythm, so I'll give them some leeway, but I did find the service a bit slow. The mocha itself was decent--nothing to write home about--though my boyfriend did enjoy his pistachio latte. I've done this numerous times and everytime I arrive, they realize 25 mins later that they don't even check the system for online orders. Waited 25 mins then asked, THEN they made it .. an additional 10mins Even when you order at the window expect to stand there for at least 15-20 mins . They need more workers. If you like REAL matcha and REAL flavors this place is for you! The matcha blueberry is not bitter to me.. it just tastes like REAL strong matcha! We ordered the lavender latte and the lavender matcha which were both bitter and tasted a bit strong on the lavender- tasted like you were drinking perfume. There were about 3 people in line ahead of us - I asked each one if they had been here before to see what drink they would recommend - but just like us they were first timers. Sadly, the real problem is that it's listed on the menu for $7 but they actually charge $8 So when I asked her about this, she goes "yeahhhh they don't match" and I said, you mean you're charging more than you advertise? She was just matter of fact about it. Didn't honor the posted price. So two matchas were $18 after tax. Which is an arm and a leg compared to the best matcha cream top you can get in Little Tokyo for $5.75 including tax. I don't regret going but I can't see myself ever returning. read more

We came the first day they opened and it was considered their soft opening. The shop looks nice and modern. Love the vibe and ambiance even though there are no seating options. It's a hole (literally) in the wall and I'm all for it. The service was nice and simple. I ordered the Pistachio Latte and it was better than I thought. The pistachio really stands out and I was very happy with it. My brother and cousin got the Blueberry Latte and Salted Matcha Cream Top. The Blueberry Latte was different than anything we have normally tried and it was good but felt it was overpowered by the coffee. You can taste the blueberry and there are small pieces of it which is a nice touch. The Salted Matcha Cream Top was really good. It's a stand style type of place looks cute but looks don't matter when it's the worst coffee on the block. Got the lavender and blueberry latte. Both taste disgusting. Blueberry is overly sweet and lavender just tastes bitter with zero flavor (almost like diet coke). It's actually horrid. They call the place hideout coffee, I wish it could hide better. I'll never go again. Service was fine just very slow cause of busy it was on that day. But based on how the coffee tastes, I highly doubt anyone in that line would make a return visit. The coffee tastes burnt. Picture below is how much we drank, it's getting thrown away. Go to the many other spots on the same street instead. This is the worst spot on the block . The pistachio latte is delicious, the pistachio flavor is strong but balanced because you can still taste the coffee, it's not overly sweet! Stumbled upon Hideout Coffee while on a walk with my husband this afternoon. I love the concept of a window coffee shop, and I was really excited to come across it by chance. Unfortunately, this excitement was quickly diminished. The barista working was not friendly at all. She did not welcome or greet us or ask if we had any questions on the menu, she quite literally just looked at us. We decided to get an iced lavender matcha with oat milk and this was another huge disappointment. There was no one in line before us, and it took quite awhile for our one drink order. The drink was given to us as a pour over not mixed into the milk, which is fine, but the matcha itself was clearly not prepared correctly. The latte was given to us with so many clumps of matcha and was gritty and grainy and the matcha taste was non-existent. The lavender syrup was the only redeeming quality of the drink. It was flavorful and good quality, but without the syrup, it might as well have just been a glass of oat milk, and it was close to $8. The barista didn't look at us while handing the drink to us and she didn't say anything. She just walked away. The customer service was truly terrible and the drink was not good at all. What a huge bummer. Maybe the coffee is better, but I definitely do not recommend coming here for matcha, and the customer service was so bad. read more

I happened upon this shop while in the area and decided to give it a try. The exterior is cute and the staff were friendly and did a good job staying calm under pressure. despite the long line they had going and the small workspace they have. Unfortunately, my experience with the coffee wasn't as quite as nice - when I asked the person on register what kind of beans they had for drip, they didn't know the answer (not a good sign), and when I got a cappuccino with oat instead the shot underneath tasted very overextracted, with a burnt taste and little body to speak of. Although there was a nice head of foam floating at the top of the drink, the milk underneath lacked proper frothing, leading to a texture that felt more like hot milk than what you would expect from a steamed drink. Maybe I just need to give another visit when they're not so busy, but after this one I don't feel as confident in their quality as I would want to be. read more
