Great business! I stopped by the other day to pick up cupcakes for some clients (and one for myself). They were understated and delicious. I've found a lot of places with sweets like doughnuts and cupcakes are loading the pastries up with a lot of unnecessary extra stuff. Not so here, it's a clean presentation with a lot of flavor. I also had a triple espresso over ice and the espresso tasted high quality. The person that helped me was kind and the place had an inviting feel. It's small but cozy. Cinnamon Whisper Latte was just right! Made with condensed milk, but not too sweet. I chose it hot because I like the aromatic experience of cinnamon. Been passing this cute coffee shop many times and today we finally decided to give it a try. The owner is so friendly and sweet, she greeted us when we walked in and introduced the menu patiently. It is a small cozy coffee shop with a few table/chairs and a couch, there are so many yummy sweet treats and pastries on the counter and display section. The coffee we ordered is also very decent. They also have outdoor seating too, the street parking is not too bad and we visited on a Sunday. Will come back to try their pastries next time. This review is for the cupcakes only. I asked my bf to pick some up for me on a weekday morning. He said they were about $4 each. Overall, I thought the cupcakes were alright. I enjoyed the frosting more than the cake part. It's on the sweet side, but the cream cheese helps temper the sugar and the cake is less sweet. What I didn't like about the cake was the texture. At room temp, the crumb was fine yet dense and a touch dry. Some flavors were a little gummy. It didn't taste as bad as that sounds, but I was a little disappointed since the cupcakes looked so cute! - Strawberry Vanilla. This vanilla cupcake with real strawberries in the batter was the most moist and airy. However, there were pockets of slight gumminess due to the strawberry. The overall flavor was bland. The pink frosting was regular cream cheese frosting. - Red Velvet. The flavor of the cake was light, but better than the vanilla. It was a little drier than the vanilla, but probably the most well rounded in terms of texture. - Dulce de Leche. This cake was the most firm/dry/dense, but it also had the most flavor with notes of dark caramel. The frosting seemed to contain a mixture of cream cheese and dulce de leche. read more

Super cute local café with a bakery! Cupcakes cookies tarts bars crossiants you name it they've got it. The lattes are amazing, check out their seasonal selection. I got the caramel apple latte which seemed very unique but ended up being SO delicious. The Americano is smooth and well made - not sour or bitter. The barista is also the owner (i think) and super sweet. Will tailor your drink to your liking. We've been waiting for this shop to open for AGES and now they are yay!! Decided to come in on National Vanilla Cupcake Day to celebrate. Their cupcakes are so soft and moist and lovely! Their wedding cookies are delicious and traditional - location is historic and so cute and the owner I met, Veronica, was SO NICE!! All in all a great new family owned spot in Monrovia. Normally I have to drive all the way over to Pasadena for fun flavors of delectable cupcakes so I'm thrilled to see Dulce Cielo! We tried the strawberry vanilla, vanilla with chocolate icing, chocolate banana, and the chocolate with fudge syrup. We also tried the wedding cookies and the chocolate hazelnut cookies. The vanilla cupcake with chocolate icing was good but didn't taste like chocolate at all- I actually thought it was Dulce de Leche bc that's exactly what it tasted like lol. The chocolate banana was my FAVE!! Oh it's so good and has a nice strong banana flavor well balanced with the chocolate. Loved it! And the chocolate one with the fudge syrup on top was great too. The strawberry vanilla cupcake was my least favorite. The texture is wonderful with real, actual strawberries inside which is great - but there's just not much strawberry flavor in it - it was bland. So I wouldn't get it again but all the rest are fantastic. The cookies with both fantastic - they're shortbread cookies and very well made. If you like shortbread, these are fantastic. I've never cared for shortbread but can definitely appreciate the quality of these and my hubby loved them. Inside is cozy and clean with nice views of busy Foothill in Monrovia. They have a large drinks menu as well - lots of coffees and teas and more. Really my only complaint is the price of the cupcakes - they're almost $4 each which to me seems high. But they're good quality and tasty and on par with what you'd find in Pasadena and the like. Of course I feel like that with every price tag I see nowadays anyway lol! Their location is fun - it's inside the historic Aztec Hotel on famous Route 66. I got to chat to one of the owners, Veronica and she was just so sweet - said they were under construction for 3 years haha - yeah we've definitely been wondering when they would open bc they've had their sign up for a long time lol. The bakery is located off Foothill. I went in to browse their cupcake selection. The lemon blueberry sounded great but they were out. Instead I tried the strawberry cupcake. A Salvadorian twist. This is my second visit to Dulce Cielo. I had to comeback. My first visit here was great. The owners are Salvadorian and they put their own Salvadorian twist to their recipes. On this visit I had their version of Cafe de olla and I asked for it iced of course. It was delicious. I paired it with one of the in house baked strawberry cupcakes. All their pastry offerings are baked in house. So to me that's a huge plus. I haven't had and of their warm food offerings yet. But I will soon. On my first visit I had the Dulce Cielo latte iced with oat milk with a piece of their carrot cake. The carrot wasn't too sweet. Just sweet enough to know that I will be having it again. The Dulce Cielo latte was incredible. I wanted that latte to last me all day. The best way I can describe it is that it was silky smooth. It was so tasty. When you're watching them make your beverage. You can tell they take a lot of care on what they are serving you. And after talking to Veronica the owner today. You can tell that serving a quality product is important to her. If you ever find yourself in Monrovia or any of their neighboring cities, you should definitely stop be Dulce Cielo. This is a new business in Monrovia located in historic Route 66 at the Aztec Hotel. (Foothill Blvd & Magnolia) One of the sister owner/bakers, Veronica, explained they had just opened Saturday and this was after 3 years of construction. Excellent service as Veronica gave us a rundown on all the flavors and goodies they have. This shoot is beautiful inside, clean and smelled amazing! 2 croissants, 4 cookies and a coke was $12.50. The traditionalMexican Wedding cookies were awesome and delicious. My daughter enjoyed the coca hazelnut cookies. Regarding the croissants, I tend to like mine a little heavy on the butter flavor and I don't love an egg wash that I can taste. Having said that, they were really tasty and flaky. We will definitely go back and try all the cupcakes a couple at a time. I sincerely hope they do well. They seem like a great family with golden baking skills. Decided to come here since I was looking for coffee places in Monrovia to hang with a friend. Came across this on Google Maps and decided to check it out. The exterior is very pretty and decorated well. There was accessible street parking nearby- what was interesting was that I got here at 8:40 AM on a Sunday and the place wasn't opened yet. I thought to myself, the hours must be wrong online. Turns out the owner just came late which is a bit unusual. Alas I just ordered a chai latte and honestly it was a bit disappointing. The milk was overpowering and the chai was watered down. Perhaps the coffee is better here but my experience wasn't the greatest. The owner was very sweet though and helped us get adjusted to outdoor seating. They also sell wedding cookies and cupcakes here so perhaps I need to give them a second chance. A wonderful little bakery in Monrovia! They have a nice selection of sweet treats, and a couple of savory options if you prefer.
