Super cute local café with a bakery! Cupcakes cookies tarts bars crossiants you name it they've got it. The lattes are amazing, check out their seasonal selection. I got the caramel apple latte which seemed very unique but ended up being SO delicious. The Americano is smooth and well made - not sour or bitter. The barista is also the owner (i think) and super sweet. Will tailor your drink to your liking. She didnt fret when i made several customizations on mine, as I am lactose intolerant and can only have half the caffeine. Give this spot a try if you haven't - support local!

Such a nice coffee shop! I highly recommend getting the brew-chata latte, it was so good. They add Salvadoran horchata in the drink, yum!! I can't wait to come back!

We were greeted with a warm welcome that followed with a smile as we entered. Found this spot on tik tok and the good reviews were so vaild. We ordered the Azteca Mocha and the Cinnamon Whisper Latte both 10/10 stars!

This place was absolutely more than what I bargained for. I got the Aztec mocha & let me tell you it's one of my favorites. The people that work there were very friendly and unlike other coffee shops where they call your order for you to pick up they brought it straight to my table with a warm smile I'll be coming back here soon the drive from Anaheim will be well worth it.

Stopped by to grab some coffee and sweets while in Monrovia and am happy that I did! Service was quick and friendly! I absolutely loved the dulce de leche cup cake. The cream cheese frosting was to die for and the cake itself was super moist! I also had the Aztec mocha (coffee). It was on the sweeter side, but still had a great flavor. Can't wait to try more cupcakes next time!

I love this place! The food is cooked fresh and very tasty! The service is wonderful and the staff are always friendly! They make a great chai latte! They also have freshly made dog treats and provided bowl of water for my service dog. The ambiance is very sweet and comfortable. A place you can sit and read while you eat. I stop here as often as possible. I highly recommend Dulce Cielo!

My haul for National Vanilla Cupcake Day!! (11/10/23)
    Hannah S.

We've been waiting for this shop to open for AGES and now they are yay!! Decided to come in on National Vanilla Cupcake Day to celebrate. Their cupcakes are so soft and moist and lovely! Their wedding cookies are delicious and traditional - location is historic and so cute and the owner I met, Veronica, was SO NICE!! All in all a great new family owned spot in Monrovia. Normally I have to drive all the way over to Pasadena for fun flavors of delectable cupcakes so I'm thrilled to see Dulce Cielo! We tried the strawberry vanilla, vanilla with chocolate icing, chocolate banana, and the chocolate with fudge syrup. We also tried the wedding cookies and the chocolate hazelnut cookies. The vanilla cupcake with chocolate icing was good but didn't taste like chocolate at all- I actually thought it was Dulce de Leche bc that's exactly what it tasted like lol. The chocolate banana was my FAVE!! Oh it's so good and has a nice strong banana flavor well balanced with the chocolate. Loved it! And the chocolate one with the fudge syrup on top was great too. The strawberry vanilla cupcake was my least favorite. The texture is wonderful with real, actual strawberries inside which is great - but there's just not much strawberry flavor in it - it was bland. So I wouldn't get it again but all the rest are fantastic. The cookies with both fantastic - they're shortbread cookies and very well made. If you like shortbread, these are fantastic. I've never cared for shortbread but can definitely appreciate the quality of these and my hubby loved them. Inside is cozy and clean with nice views of busy Foothill in Monrovia. They have a large drinks menu as well - lots of coffees and teas and more. Really my only complaint is the price of the cupcakes - they're almost $4 each which to me seems high. But they're good quality and tasty and on par with what you'd find in Pasadena and the like. Of course I feel like that with every price tag I see nowadays anyway lol! Their location is fun - it's inside the historic Aztec Hotel on famous Route 66. I got to chat to one of the owners, Veronica and she was just so sweet - said they were under construction for 3 years haha - yeah we've definitely been wondering when they would open bc they've had their sign up for a long time lol. Parking is street parking or the Aztec Hotel has a private lot to the side. Very happy to have them! Welcome to the neighborhood and see you again soon!

Specialty drink upon request...Banana, Mocha, and Peanut Butter!

This is my favorite coffee spot of all time! Veronica started making me a custom latte upon request that I. now have to come and have EVERY day so long as I'm in town lol. Try the banana and mocha latte on ice but ask to add peanut butter and you will thank me later!

The bakery is located off Foothill. I went in to browse their cupcake selection. The lemon blueberry sounded great but they were out. Instead I tried the strawberry cupcake. It was really good - moist amd not too sweet. Also comes in a cute box. Think would also make for a great gift. Staff was friendly and helpful.

A Salvadorian twist. This is my second visit to Dulce Cielo. I had to comeback. My first visit here was great. The owners are Salvadorian and they put their own Salvadorian twist to their recipes. On this visit I had their version of Cafe de olla and I asked for it iced of course. It was delicious. I paired it with one of the in house baked strawberry cupcakes. All their pastry offerings are baked in house. So to me that's a huge plus. I haven't had and of their warm food offerings yet. But I will soon. On my first visit I had the Dulce Cielo latte iced with oat milk with a piece of their carrot cake. The carrot wasn't too sweet. Just sweet enough to know that I will be having it again. The Dulce Cielo latte was incredible. I wanted that latte to last me all day. The best way I can describe it is that it was silky smooth. It was so tasty. When you're watching them make your beverage. You can tell they take a lot of care on what they are serving you. And after talking to Veronica the owner today. You can tell that serving a quality product is important to her. If you ever find yourself in Monrovia or any of their neighboring cities, you should definitely stop be Dulce Cielo. You won't regret it. I can honestly say that I have found the best coffee in The San Gabriel Valley.

Super excited because the mini fruit tarts are going to look amazing on my newly purchased dessert tray! I was feeling a bit sleepy so I decided to fuel up & eat breakfast while I was there. I ordered a Vanilla Latte & a side order of 3 eggs + Sausage Links. If you're a big eater and want the additional potatoes and pancakes, I recommend paying a few dollars more and ordering the Breakfast platter. The Vanilla Latte came in a paper cup (a bit bummed out by not being able to take a more IG worthy picture of that), but it actually tasted really good! Same with the sausage links - it was probably one of the best tasting ones I've had for breakfast in a while. Aside from their wide selection of pastries and food options, their customer service was phenomenal. Every customer that walked through the door was greeted upon arrival and thanked on their way out. The restaurant was very clean and the cakes looked so beautiful behind the glass case. I had a pleasant experience today at Merengue Bakery & Cafe and can't wait to come back soon to try a slice of their chocolate cake!

It's fun here cuz you can get a little shopping cart and collect your breads. Kinda went crazy and got a bunch to try. The breads looked like they would be dry but weren't and were all really soft, pillowy, and fluffy. The Black Forest bread was topped with toasted almonds, had jiggly thick sweet custard, and a layer of semi sweet chocolate. The hades bread was the only kinda dry bread and was filled with bittersweet chocolate and had a thin sweet Oreo crust on the bottom like a cheesecake would. The pork floss bread had a swirl of sweet savory pork floss and was topped with nutty crunchy sesame seeds. The banana cream bread was filled with like this cheesecake tasting light cream and had some real bananas inside too. The garlic bread was really good, soft, and had a streak of yummy, savory, garlicy, cheesy goodness. They even had a cilantro pork floss cake?! Wasn't getting any cilantro flaves but the cake was nicely spongy, light, vanillay, and had a swirl of pork floss that actually worked with it. Their black sesame cake was also very spongy, jiggly, light, and airy with good black sesame flaves. They even let you try some free samples of bread which my grandma really enjoyed. Overall this place is pretty good. Black Forest $4.50 Hades $6 Pork floss $5 Banana cream $4.50 Garlic bread $4.50 Cilantro pork floss sponge $5 Black sesame sponge $3.75
