I really like this vibe! I'm such a sucker for nice interior design and back patios and Hudson Hill has both! There's plenty of comfy seating to lounge on, as well as a bartop for folks to sit on. This place operates as a cafe and light brunch place in the mornings, and a dim, moody vibe with a full bar in the evenings. All the workers here are really nice and approachable. When coming in, there are menus by the front door. When I went, it was around 11am on a Sunday, so it was pretty crowded. They have a food pop-up in the back patio that rotates between vendors, to my understanding. The back seating area is covered and has two space heaters nearby. I was a little earlier than expected so this was a great place to get warm. It doesn't feel weird to sit alone here with my treat. The sign that says "home" above the door was a nice touch when I was walking around in the dark here and on a chilly night... felt like my safe haven in the moment ! Stopped by on a Friday night and ordered an Aviation and a Bee's Knees and I have to say, their Bee's Knees is the best I've ever had! They make their own honey syrup in-house, and you can taste the difference immediately! The honey flavor is incredibly pure and perfectly balanced. Service was great, and we arrived too late for food but would love to come back to try some bites. It wasn't overly busy for a Friday, which made it easy to relax and enjoy the space. The ambiance is one of my favorite parts it had warm lighting, great music, and the disco ball adds such a fun touch. Parking in this area is tough but worth it. My friend and I stopped in for quick drinks while waiting for our food order from across the street. I ordered a glass of wine and it tasted off--best flavor I can compare it to is when an avocado goes bad + a hint of olive. I took a second sip to genuinely try to enjoy it and not send it back, but I couldn't do it. Our server didn't check on us for 20 minutes after dropping off our drinks, and by the time we flagged them down, we were ready for the check because our food was ready and we had to go. I told my server about my drink and they asked if I wanted to exchange it, to which I told them that unfortunately we had to go pick up our food. They came back with the bill and a bit of an attitude and said "I only removed 30% off the wine since we opened the bottle just for your drink. And it probably wasn't the drink." I'm not sure what that has to do with the matter, but had the server come by to check on us, I would've happily exchanged the wine. I stopped tasting it after the second sip because I truly couldn't stomach it and didn't want them thinking I was trying to get a free drink--I've worked in the service industry, I know how people can be. Mind you, this wasn't during happy hour so I was forced to pay nearly full price for a full glass of wine I didn't consume. I'm not sure what came over me, but I still tipped 20% out of habit for my drink and my friend's, regretfully now. Very disappointed with this customer service. *Update: After I posted my original review, the manager reached out to me directly and refunded my visit. I really appreciated them taking the time to address it and follow up personally. That level of responsiveness goes a long way for me, so I'm updating my rating to reflect that and will return for another visit. read more

What a lovely spot! Came here to get some work done on a weekday morning - while initially thrown off by needing to wait to be seated at a coffeeshop and getting table service, not a bad approach. The staff asks if you plan to get work done and if yes, they make sure to seat you by an outlet. It helps with crowd control and the economist in me loves that unstated social pressure for folx to not stay for hours on end with only ordering a single java. As far as decor, super cute. I'm a plant witch and this spot crushes the game! They've got some huge plants - all beautiful - and great array. Plenty of varied seating and while I sat at a counter to work, the couches and chairs looked very comfy. Someone clearly puts love into this place. I went in to get an iced coffee to go, there were like 6 people working behind the bar (that no one was sitting at mind you) and they were all arguing with each other and bickering at each other while this poor person who was very clearly brand new, tried to make drinks and kept having to ask for help on what went in the drinks, while the rest of the team barely gave them the time of day. It is on the pricier end with lattes starting at $6 instead of $4.50-$5 but I think it's worth it for the quality. The staff here are also very efficient and kind. They make a killer espresso martini and their sage butter old fashioned makes me want to curl up by a fireplace with a book - though it's still delicious in the summer too. The staff at HH is always so kind and quick to get to you. They circle constantly filling water but manage to do so without being too in your space. My only wish for Hudson Hill is that it were slightly less expensive! I find myself heading to other local coffee shops to work more often so I don't drop $15+ on two lattes/tip. What a great little spot, a perfect vibe from the decor to the record player spinning Bob Dylan's "Street Legal" and other vintage vinyl. Oh, and the drinks are excellent as well. The newly unveiled Figgie Smalls is quite good, though perhaps a bit lacking in the fig department. The Isle of Avalon, however, is bursting with balanced apple hot toddy and fall spice vibes, really delicious. For me, the standout remains the High Tea, Earl Grey resposado with sherry, plum, and ginger. This one gets better and better as the ice slowly melts and it truly opens up, a unique blend of flavors that really shines.
