We have been coming to Houston's for years and it never disappoints! My favorite entree is their Hawaiian Rib Eye steak. It's super flavorful, sugars carmelized just right! You also cannot go wrong with their grilled artichoke or spinach artichoke dips as appetizers. To finish off the meal, we always get their apple walnut cobbler, or their hot fudge sundae. Service is always exceptional. All servers are really personable, attentive and well versed on all of their dishes. I finally tried Houston's for the first time and it did not disappoint. My husband and I were able to try the Grilled California Artichokes - we both enjoyed it and also liked the sauce it was paired with. I ordered the French Dip and the meat was cooked so well it basically just melted while I was eating it. The ambiance inside was very moody with dim lighting, and our waiter was very attentive the whole time. He helped us make decisions as well since it was our first time, and you can tell the way they treat their customers isn't just like some regular restaurant. Another must-try is the Caesar salad. One of my all-time favorites. The dressing is full of flavor, the lettuce is perfectly coated, and the croutons have that soft-but-crispy bite. And if you're sharing an appetizer, the spinach dip is a solid choice. It comes with warm chips, salsa, and sour cream, and honestly, it never disappoints. My go-to drink is their iced tea, but I've tried the margarita a few times. It's a bit strong for my palate, but if you like a bold drink, it might be right up your alley. I love Houston's and come here what seems like at least once every 1-2 weeks! All of their food is quality, but I definitely have my solid favorites and some hidden gems. If you can get a reservation, that is HIGHLY recommended, as apparently I am not the only Houston's fan! You will be welcomed in very soon after your check-in with a reservation. If no reservation, whatever the projected wait time is, consider it very accurate and maybe tag on another 10-20 mins, because it is serious here! Also, if you don't mind, sign yourself up for the bar area as well for a quicker chance at getting seated. That's right, this is not a walk up bar, there is a wait. If someone leaves and you take their seat, they will remove you because there is a wait! You can stand at the very limited standing area of the bar to order and move over and there is a little bit of standing space to the side, perhaps enough for 2 people or 2 couples max to squeeze to stand and drink while you wait. The check in staff will also take a drink order for you and deliver it to you whenever else you decide to wait, such as the indoor lobby, outside lobby or sitting area around the koi pond. They also offer fries for kids waiting. So I want you to know the wait is serious but also can be enjoyable with a drink and plenty of people watching :) which can be super fun. The staff here are not your average Joe. They are professional, friendly, top notch and aim to be very in tune with their customer(s). They are attentive, friendly, welcoming and seem to anticipate your needs and know everyone in the room. The bar staff are fun, engaging with guests and each other and that makes for a very fun space! A lot of the guests are regulars here too, so there is a lot of strangers engaging and talking all the time. Everyone seems to be social and in a great mood here. The drinks are great too. I've never had a bad drink here, except for the time a woman insisted I try her margarita with (at her request) mezcal and that sincerely was not for me, yuck! lol. But it was her crafter specialty. It was fun and cool that she shared but that was the only bad drink I've had here that I can ever recall. All their curated drinks, wines, and more, are delicious and go down smooth and quickly while you're having fun, so be warned lol. The atmosphere is dark and lively. It does feel like you're sucked into somewhere else, while you're here, which is really nice. Hidden gem- the sushi. This is my favorite sushi anywhere. It's quality in temperature, size, the way it stays together, and flavor. My favorites are Tuna Mango & the Hawaiian shrimp roll - superb and consistent! Another top app is the artichoke and spinach dip! Super tasty and the chips come warm. They'll even offer more chips if you run out, again the staff are top notch and keep in tune with customer needs almost within seconds or just before you even think you need something yourself. Entree favorites of mine are the to die for kale emerald salad! So delicious and probably the only kale I'll eat. The chicken here is succulent and never anywhere in the realm of dry. The California burger is amazing with or without the bun! And they'll let you swap the fries for any avail side (or kale emerald salad, sans chicken of course) which I usually do because I'm not a fan of skinny fries. Another staple is the Hawaiian ribeye! Holy moly!! Soooo tasty and drool worthy. It usually comes with the amazing loaded baked potato during dinner or fries during lunch hours but again you can swap that side for kale salad or other available sides in the menu. I can't say you can't go wrong with anything on their menu because of course we all have personal preferences but these aforementioned are my dream team when I come dine at Houston's and I don't veer from there. The desserts are special decadent and also delicious. My favorite is the warm apple dessert a la mode, this will not disappoint! Their brownie is quite decadent but delicious as they sprinkle coffee and sea salt and it comes a la mode. The key lime is another dessert winner. Great food, with several gems, great ambiance, away from hustle and bustle, and great anticipatory staff that aims to serve! Haven't been to Houston's in awhile as our local one closed down. Had a reservation to celebrate two birthdays and was informed by another guest in the party re their "dress code." So I had to ditch my athleisure wear! No athletic clothing, hoodies, etc. I wear Lulu's everywhere. And it's not acceptable at a place like Houston's?! It's not exactly 5 star classy. In fact, I don't get all the rave reviews as I found the food to be less than desirable. Nice looking burger, but taste wise, EH. French dip, EH. Appetizer of chips and artichoke dip was good. Their pan salad which used to be the Thai salad still has that goodness flavor but now you need to get the ribeye on the side and put it in the salad yourself. Boo! The lemon drop here is not as great as the one in Irvine. The Irvine location knows how to make their lemon drops and they have Tito's. Service here is always great, wait times can be ridiculous and sometimes they don't do resys for two so you have to wait between 30 minutes to an hour. I learned they lost the reservation for my mom's 80th birthday dinner 2 hours before we were supposed to be there. I was then told I needed to speak to a manager, but then they hung up on me. Once I called back enough times for them to answer again, I was connected to Jordan, the manager, who was incredibly condescending and rude despite the incompetence of the staff she's responsible for. Jordan offered no assistance, only evidence that she is completely void of customer service skills. Hillstone Restaurant Group, Houston's Pasadena, & its manager Jordan ruined this milestone occasion for my family. An undependable, inhospitable staff is not what I have come to expect from your establishment, and after reading some of the other comments on your management, I'm shocked you're still failing your customers at this level. Strollers, infant carriers, and baby holders are not welcomed. 2) We reserved a table for 3:30 and called ahead to let Jordan, the general manager, know we'd be late after locking our keys in the car. She said she would do her "best" to seat us. When we arrived at 4:00, our table had been given away, and we were first told it would only be a "few more minutes." After waiting 15 minutes, Jordan then told us the wait would actually be another 40 minutes. The lack of communication, accommodation, and sternness from Jordan completely changed our experience. I have been a loyal customer of Houston's Pasadena for many years and dine here four to five times a week. I've always loved the food, service, and atmosphere, which is why this experience was so disappointing. During my visit on July 2, 2026, I asked another guest if they would mind moving over one seat to accommodate my party--but only after receiving approval from a manager, Katherine. The guest agreed without any issue. A short time later, General Manager Jourdan approached me in what I felt was an aggressive and confrontational manner. She raised her voice, stood directly in my personal space, and spoke to me in a way that I found intimidating and disrespectful. If there had been a misunderstanding about the seating arrangement, I would have gladly complied had it been explained to me respectfully. Unfortunately, this was not my first unpleasant interaction with Jourdan. On another occasion, I received an explanation about children sitting at the bar that conflicted with what my girlfriend had previously been told regarding her son. The inconsistent application of policies, combined with my recent experience, left me questioning the level of customer service and professionalism at this location. I continue to believe Houston's serves excellent food, and the staff has generally been outstanding. However, the way I was treated by the General Manager did not reflect the hospitality I have come to expect from this restaurant. I hope Houston's takes customer feedback seriously and addresses these concerns so that every guest is treated with courtesy, professionalism, and respect. read more

Let me start off by saying our waiter, J was incredible. Extremely nice, attentive, friendly and just an overall good guy. Staff seemed very nice as well but I think the food was mediocre at best. The spicy tuna sushi had a legit SLIVER of tuna where it was almost comical, the chicken sandwich was caked with too much mayo, a thick piece of bread and a thin, overly breaded piece of chicken. We had the absolute worst service we've ever experienced at the Houston's Pasadena location today. We are very loyal Houston's customers and regularly travel to different locations because we usually have such great experiences, so today was incredibly disappointing. We sat at the bar and waited about 15 minutes before anyone took our order. We ordered sushi and were only given one soy sauce dish to share. We asked for a second dish, but it wasn't brought until after we had already finished eating our sushi another 15+ minute wait. I also asked multiple times for a drink refill, and each request took an extremely long time. Our bartender/server showed no sense of urgency throughout the entire meal. We also both ordered soup and specifically requested extra cabbage and radishes, but neither request was done. Both soups were also freezing cold. After we left, we called the restaurant simply to let the manager know about our experience. We weren't looking for a refund or any compensation we just wanted to provide feedback because the restaurant wasn't even busy when we visited, and the level of service was unacceptable. Unfortunately, speaking with the manager, Jourdan Mor, made the experience even worse. Rather than listening to our concerns, she repeatedly insisted that it was our fault for not saying something while we were still in the restaurant. We explained that we were only calling to share feedback so the issue could be addressed, but she continued repeating herself. At the end of the call, she sat in complete silence for over a minute. When we finally asked if she was still on the line, she replied, "Yes, but I don't have anything else to say." That response was incredibly unprofessional and showed a complete lack of concern for loyal customers. The poor service from our server was disappointing enough, but the manager's dismissive attitude ensured we will never return to the Pasadena location. This review is specifically in response to the disgraceful conduct of the co-managers on duty at lunchtime on April 11th, whose miserable attitudes and shockingly unprofessional behavior completely ruined what should have been a normal dining experience. I have never been treated with such blatant disrespect, hostility, and outright aggression at a restaurant in my life, ESPECIALLY by co-managers who should be held to a higher standard of professionalism and ethical conduct. My friends and I went to Houston's and were quoted 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes for a party of five. For additional context, someone in our party was 8.5 months pregnant, and despite the excessive wait, the restaurant offers no seating or accommodations for guests waiting for their tables. We said no problem and waited patiently. After an hour and fifteen minutes had passed, we checked in and were specifically told that the next table of 5 would be ours, and that it would be "10 more minutes." Instead, we stood there and watched them seat a party of TWO at one of the very few 5-top tables (the exact kind of table we had already been waiting nearly an hour and a half for). Given how blatantly we were skipped after being told we were next, it certainly made us question whether Houston's seating process is actually based on the waitlist at all, or if certain parties receive preferential treatment behind the scenes. When we asked why they would do that after telling us we were next, the hostess/co-manager played dumb and said, "I don't know what you mean." When we repeated the question, because she obviously knew exactly what we meant, she suddenly became aggressive, combative, and completely unprofessional. She stormed out from behind the hostess stand, got directly in my friend's face, and began speaking to him in a confrontational manner as if we had attacked her simply for asking a reasonable question. Let me be clear: no one yelled, cursed, or acted aggressively whatsoever. Her response? "I will not serve you. I'm refusing service." No explanation. No justification. No attempt to remedy the situation. Just an immediate power trip. Once it became clear she had no valid explanation for her behavior and knew she was in the wrong, she cowardly avoided further discussion by pretending to take phone calls rather than addressing the situation like a professional. When another person in our group asked why we were being refused service, the male co-manager (who was one of the most arrogant, miserable, and nasty individuals I have ever encountered in customer service) said he "doesn't need to give a reason." Again, someone in our party was 8.5 months pregnant and had been standing there waiting for well over an hour and a half. Her husband mentioned this hoping maybe they'd show the smallest shred of decency or empathy. We were wrong. Instead, the male manager responded by telling us we were being kicked out and that standing there wouldn't do anything. He repeatedly stated that he did not need to give us an explanation. Absolutely vile behavior. I recorded the entire interaction and have both managers on camera. These are not hospitality professionals. These are rude, power-hungry, deeply unpleasant people who clearly despise customers and abuse whatever tiny authority they have. The level of hostility and contempt shown toward us for simply asking why we had been skipped was shocking. Houston's should be embarrassed to employ managers who behave like this. If this is how they treat guests, especially a pregnant woman and a group who waited patiently far beyond the quoted time, then this establishment has serious problems with leadership and culture. The food could be the best in the world (which it is not - I found a produce sticker on my tomato last time I was there and the utensils and cups are almost always dirty) and it still would not be worth enduring the humiliation, aggression, and disgusting treatment we experienced. We will never return, and I strongly advise anyone considering dining here to spend their money somewhere that actually values and respects its customers. These managers should find a new profession immediately, as they possess none of the temperament, professionalism, or basic decency required for customer service. I always love the food here at any Hillstone group restaurant. Anything I've ever ordered has been delicious and consistent. My only problem is trying to leave without a food coma. I made a reservation for my husband's birthday and I couldn't breathe by the time I left, I was so full. We had the famous spinach artichoke dip, rib eye with fries, and famous dings crispy chicken sandwich. Everything was so good, we had one portion of sandwich left and we ate it the next day and it was still so freaking good. Highly recommend anyone coming here and to try anything on the menu, I can't imagine someone being disappointed. Our server was so wonderful, I wish I got her name, she was amazing. Only flaw is I think the restaurant is a bit too dark, I'm young and I feel like I'm loosing my mind a little with lighting, my eyes start playing tricks on me. read more
