Great donut place in Santa Barbara! There are a lot of unique flavors to try. The one I like the most was the strawberry matcha. The donuts are not overly sweet and just perfect texture! I love the huge seating area and water is provided. Check it out when you're in SB!
Checked it out given the hype around the donuts. The everything seasoned donut was unique and worth the trip. The classic chocolate and sprinkles and browned butter donut were good. The donuts were very good but I would not consider them better than other highly rated donut shops, particularly on the east coast. They have many flavors so plenty of variety to try and I will have to see how those compare. Definitely check it out and try it if you're in the area. Fun and friendly service. Great spot for early mornings in sb.
I was in Santa Barbara for the fourth and I have had this place on my bookmarks list. I was super excited that I got to try it finally. My husband and I found parking right away on the street so that was already a great sign. Especially in SB. We went a little before 12 and there wasn't a lot of people. I got the strawberry milkshake donut and the apple fritter. My daughters devoured the strawberry milkshake one. I have tried a lot of different apple fritter donuts and this one wasn't my favorite. It wasn't a strong apple taste and the donut seems too fluffy for an apple fritter. But the WINNER was the salted brown butter latte. It was perfection. I loved everything about it. I will definitely be back for the coffee and may try some other donuts.

The doughnuts are as beautiful as they are delicious. The POG doughnut made us feel like we were back in Hawaii (we drank a ton of POG lol). I got the horchata latte and my girlfriend got a vanilla latte. Both were very good. We ended up sitting outside on the patio and were able to relax a little while watching the koi fish and turtle swim around the little pond.

We still absolutely love this place. S'more was good But I'm not a huge chocolate fan. Loved the marshmallow and graham cracker. Hook & Press is a popular spot on State Street due to their gourmet and artisanal donuts. After grabbing lunch, wifey and I knew we had to stop by and stuff our mouths with some goodness. They have a lot of unique flavors to choose from, but we ended up going with the Peach Cobbler Donut and it did not disappoint!
We've been to Hook & Press Donuts in Santa Barbara twice now, and both experiences were fantastic. Our first visit was for my daughter's birthday with family--everything from the breakfast to the coffee was spot on. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. My second visit really sealed it for me. I had the bacon breakfast biscuit with maple mustard and it was phenomenal--honestly one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had. I was there to pick up two dozen donuts for a staff appreciation event, and they were a huge hit. Everyone loved them. Great food, great people, and consistently excellent quality.
I love doughnuts and whoa! These doughnuts are definitely different from anything I've ever had. The texture is thicker and fluffier. I can taste the high quality ingredients in every bite. The only plain doughnuts available were the donut holes. Everything else was a specialty unique creation. With plenty of customers, they are well staffed and organized. I thought the wait would be long, but I was able to place my order in a timely matter. I took my order to go, but there was plenty of seating. I love the high ceilings and chandelier, such cute decor. They even had some merchandise for sale.
Hook and Press is a cute little breakfast/lunch spot in downtown SB. They have really fun donut flavors ranging from chocolate sprinkle which is what we got to one with rice crispy treats on top! Definitely the most unique donuts in the area. The space felt a little crowded, but the service was quick. I would love to go back and try their coffee drinks.
Came here for their soft opening three years ago and am tremendously pleased to see it's just as tasty as then! That everything bagel donut? Chefs kiss. Perfect mix of sweet and savory. Also tried their basic glazed. Soft. Fluffy. Not overly sweet but still nice and sweet. These donuts are a tad more expensive than regular donuts as they are specialty donuts but once you bite into it you'll totally understand why. Will continue to come here for tasty donuts and will always recommend! Service was fast and there were a lot of seating options in which many people were working. Please note we walked here so I cannot comment on parking.

Our bill totalled just under $10, but the flavors were spot-on, and portion sizes felt generous. Hook & Press was so good! I got the Meathead breakfast sandwich for lunch, which has turkey bacon, sausage, egg, and cheese on a brioche bun, and it was absolutely delicious. It was super filling though -- I was STUFFED afterward lol. I also grabbed four different donuts (I completely forgot what they were all called ), but every single one was delicious. The donuts are so light and fluffy, and I really liked that the frosting wasn't overly sweet or heavy. It added just enough flavor without overpowering the donut. The atmosphere was really cute too, and they have Wi-Fi, so it's a nice spot if you need to sit down and get some work done. Everyone working there was also super friendly and welcoming. Exceptional customer service, very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The environment is nice,cute, and chill. The reason why I gave it a 3 stars the vanilla cold brew lacks flavors in vanilla and sweetness. This was from their seasonal menu. I do enjoy the environment and the customer service was great. Maybe I'll give them another try and try something from their regular menu. read more
I finally visited Hook & Press and ate in the cute donut shop! It is decorated with a boho vibe and is really cute & welcoming. I even noticed how they have cute cat wallpaper in the bathroom. The employees were friendly and helpful! The display of donuts makes it really difficult to make a choice! There were so many flavors that sounded good so we decided to grab a few and have our friends grab a few and then split all of them so we could have a bite of a variety of flavors. There wasn't a donut that I didn't like. My favorite ones were the strawberry milkshake, s'mores, and the pineapple coconut one. Each donut had amazing flavor and tasted high quality and fresh. I love that they aren't greasy donuts that feel heavy in your gut. Honestly, you can't go wrong with their donuts! We also tried their G.O.A.T. breakfast sandwich. I loved the biscuit combined with the goat cheese mousse and bacon jam. I would come back for this fried egg sandwich! We also had their iced horchata latte. I liked it and appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet and that I could still taste the espresso. Overall, loved our visit to Hook & Press! We stopped by this place to grab some donuts and drinks. Pictured with names are all the four donuts we got. My personal favorite was that chocolate berry old fashioned donut, super flavorful. All of the donuts overall were really good, and they keep coming out! I had the strawberry matcha iced latte and my husband had a cappuccino. They were both really really tasty. They had other breakfast items too, among other drinks. It's a nice place to grab something quickly or dine in indoor or outdoor! I definitely recommend giving it a try. We've been twice and both times were very consistent with getting things out quickly. Everyone's also super nice here! read more
Cute cute spot! The donuts are soft and tasty. First donut we tried was the vanilla bean sprinkle and it did not taste plain at all. The ricotta scramble tartine was a standout with the fluffy scrambled eggs with ricotta topped with Parmesan and chili salt over toasted bread. Chef's kiss! Coffee is smooth, golden milk latte has great turmeric and ginger flavor. Service is friendly. Patio has umbrellas and an awning for shade and is dog friendly. We also bought a dog donut for our pup and she loved playing with it. She's a picky eater so I wouldn't take her opinion seriously. read more

The donuts are okay. The flavours are unique and hit or miss... I really liked some but others were not that great.. I also tried the iced strawberry matcha latte, and it was okay. Nothing amazing. The prices are pretty pricey too for donuts. Each one was from $4.50-$5.50... the service is good. The inside was very spacious and cute. Nice place for studying. They have free wifi. read more

Found this place on Instagram. I was super excited to try it. Especially the cream cheese doughnut. Sweet: cute place. Good customer service. They have a good selection of doughnuts all unique flavors. The coffee is really good. The server for my coffee wrong but I ended up not correcting it because it was very good. I ordered the special salted caramel brown sugar but for the salted caramel instead. I wanted to go back to order another coffee. My first bite of the cream cheese everything doughnut I was disappointed. But as I ate it more there was more cream cheese which I enjoyed. Sour: we ordered other doughnuts as well. We were pretty full all day so we didn't get to try the others till the next day. I'm guessing we should have forced ourselves to eat it the same day. The flavors were good. We ordered brown butter, carrot cake and pistachio lemon. By day 3 they were completely bad and very hard. The everything doughnut is not consistent in the amount of cream cheese inside. The one I had next day was not as filled as the first one I had. We ordered some doughnut holes as well and the glazed was melting. If I'm ever back in town I'll go for the coffee for sure and order 1 doughnut so I can have it fresh. read more

Love the donuts at this place! They always taste so fresh and the flavors are unique and complimentary. Vegan Dubai Chocolate- 8/10 love the crunch and the fluffiness of the donut. Would love to taste a stronger pistachio flavor. Brown Butter - 10/10 my favorite flavor that I must get everytime I come The space is great - lots of seating and the staff is very friendly. I've been to hook and press to be a lookie loo a few times but today I was committed to actually buying something! Lol. My friends know I don't have the biggest sweet tooth so when I've come in before I've just admired the donuts from afar and purchased drinks. However today I was wanting to reward myself for a weekend of fitness activities and a beautiful donut from hook and press seemed like the best way to do it. My friend and I came in at 1:30pm which was pretty good timing as there was no line for the donuts. The selection of donuts was still plentiful and we looked around. I ended up ordering a few strawberry matcha donuts and their key lim pie donut. Honestly it's always so hard to choose what to get because everything here looks amazing. I found that the prices seemed actually pretty reasonable for how unique and gourmet these donuts are, not a bad deal. I also appreciate that they have a clear menu behind the counter on pricing and drinks. When you order at the donut counter you do pickup your drinks across the room at a different counter which made sense so that everyone isn't crowding around the most busy counter. Smart. Shout out to the staff Katie for being an absolute gem. She was so patient and helpful as I picked out my donuts and drinks. I really appreciated that she was kind and didn't give me any pushback when I asked for my donuts individually boxed as I was giving out some as gifts. She was just lovely and provided A+ customer experience. Will lookout for her again next time I come for sure! Thanks Katie :) Overall I loved my drink and donuts, scoring below: 4/5 stars: Key Lime Pie Donut - visually stunning and surprisingly mild in flavor. The key like cream center was delicious and the outside frosting wasn't overdone. A good pick. 5/5 stars: Strawberry Matcha Donut - my favorite for sure! I'm a sucker for anything strawberry matcha and they don't disappoint here. Loved the custard matcha filling, heavenly and I'll definitely always get this one when they have it. 5/5 stars: Tropical Ombré Lemonade - yes yes yes! Always get this! As someone who doesn't love coffee I can always appreciate an effort made forwards a fun and unique drink. When I read ombré lemonade I knew I was sold and Katie assured me it would be pretty, and that it was! Can't go wrong with a lemonade tea combo and of course it was refreshing and tasty. I might need to move here just for this place! Stopped by while driving home to NorCal and we loved it! As a Vegan I was so impressed by the options for me, it's been years since I've had a decent donut and these were excellent! And the plant-based breakfast sandwich (Houseplant) was unreal good too. The rest of my family who are not vegan loved their breakfast sandwiches and donuts too so it's perfect for everyone. The staff was so kind and food came out fast. Was so impressed, this place will be a staple everytime we come back to SB. read more

Love the food and ambiance here. It's a pretty hype place and there was a line of about 10 people when we arrived on a Saturday around 10:30am. The service was friendly. We had a somewhat larger order for 2 people and food was served in a reasonable time. I loved the donuts and their brunch items. A little pricey, but reasonable. I loved the Browned Butter and Vegan Mango Dragonfruit donuts. The best donut i have ever have. Would not have thought i will find such an amazing donut store in santa barbara. No offense. Parking: mostly a quick 15 min street parking, unless you park further out few blocks, you can get a 75min parking. Fyi, they closed on Monday. Store vibe is so cali. Love it. We ordered: POG passion fruit, orange, guava - very refreshing, real flavours. Lavander Honey Cake- love it. Lemon Berry Old fashioned - doughnut is not too dry, perfectly moist Maple bacon - soft, chewy and not too airy. All the doughnuts are very good. The flavours are really shined through your taste buds. I wish I can eat more. And we also got: Horchata latte Rose latte Blackberry cream top matcha Matcha Drink are overall ok. I put in an online order and when I arrived there were about 6 people eying the donut cases. My box was ready to go with a Mocha, Key Lime and Nutter Butter cupcakes. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside and enjoyed the donuts. I even debated getting one for the ride home. My favorite was the Mocha donut because it was sweet but not over powering, and the mocha flavor was nice but it was the density and fluff of the dough that was perfect. Second favorite was the Key Lime. The middle gave that tangy key lime flavor. Last was the Nutter Butter because the dough was dense, even for a cake donut, and overly sweet. I will be back ;) The bathroom was clean and fresh which I think speaks to the staff and standards. Pro tip: Order ahead so you don't miss out on the ones you want before they are gone. read more

Yummy donuts with a beautiful selection to choose from! I tried the english toffee which was a super delicious bite. We arrived later in the day, so unfortunately we couldn't try any of the vegan selections, however, all the descriptions sounded amazing. My iced eggnog latte was superb and all of the staff who helped me were super kind. Very convenient layout having the donut counter on one side and the espresso on the other. Anytime the office has donuts, my face lights up; but when they say they're from Hook and Press , I become even more ecstatic The inside is very cozy and chic - lots of plants, natural light, and white seats. There's so many options for donuts and coffee, and as a Filipino, I love that there is always an Ube donut option. This time, I tried the Strawberry Matcha, Lavender Honey Cake, and Everything Bagel donuts. Everything Bagel was a tasty savory and basically was like a soft version of a bagel with cream cheese filling. The honey cake was more dense and I enjoyed the buttercream but the strawberry matcha takes the cake. Everyone who works there is very warm and chipper. I liked that the staff would even take my plate from me when I was cleaning up. Highly recommend! read more

*Donuts? Pretty darn good, I can see why it's a popular spot *Cappuccino? Better than most places my husband has tried (he doesn't impress very much with most coffee shops) *Sandwich? Decent, the tanginess of the sauce throws you off but after a few bites it's quite tasty - we added the sausage patty *Matcha? Love this spot! Though I own an espresso machine at home, I genuinely look forward to Hook & Press for my late morning / afternoon pick-me-up: a large Cappuccino with whole milk! The service and ambience are incredible! Though I do prefer classic donuts (maple bar, plain cake, glaze twist) compared to the craft donuts they offer at Hook & Press, I must say their eclectic variety of unique flavors is always enticing....and when I do try something new, it NEVER fails! Plus The Meathead breakfast sandwich is O.M.God sooooooo delicious!!! Enjoy a meal inside or on their beautiful outside patio! We were running errands in Santa Barbara and only had a few minutes to stop for food. We ran into Hook and Press which had great service and our order came out amazing! The GOAT sandwich was unreal and my brown butter latte was incredible plus adorable design inside. A must stop in Santa Barbara! read more
This restaurant is absolutely adorable! The decor is so fun and whimsical. I ate outside on the patio and was able to enjoy the morning sun. The donut options are insane!! The unique flavors and designs of the donuts is incredible. I ordered the blueberry pancake old fashioned donut and I was blown away by how fresh it tasted and the flavor was sweet and light. I highly recommend this place! I plan on going back tomorrow to try more flavors! Servers were kind and helpful. read more
Cute cafe tucked off of State St. I tried the passion fruit donut and the rainbow one. The passion fruit flavor is intense it tastes like you're eating the actual fruit. The donuts are a great texture and not airy. They have a nice patio for a good chat. read more
