My daughter and I LOVE this shop. We brought my daughter's friend along our second time there, after we left she made the comment, "Wow, that didn't hurt!" Everywhere else she'd ever been, they'd torn her cuticles or something else that would leave her fingers hurting. As someone who isn't a nail girly, I appreciated the education and welcoming experience offered at this salon. I went in for acrylic sets and soak offs to let my nails take a break, and am happy to continue coming for future sets. Nails were sturdy for weeks. The only thing I've noticed is that my left thumb has consistently been ever so slightly crooked after shaping but it's being nitpicky at this point. I always get compliments on my nails from here and feel like it's worth the prices from what I've seen offered elsewhere. read more

I got a gel extension manicure and a gel pedicure here about 2 weeks ago, and not only are they gorgeous, but they've completely held up in quality. They did a wonderful job on the design I asked for and were pleasant and nice to be around. I loved Sunny and Stormy too. I am a flight attendant for Alaska Airlines and have been to MANY nail salons all over the US... and Hollywood Nails is definitely a hidden gem. The entire staff was warming, caring and kind. Their attention to detail and overall work was superior to any other nail salon I have been to. I knew exactly how I wanted my nails done and they transformed my nails into a work of art. Best place ever. My natural nails have always been short and not strong. During my first visit i explained to the nail tech how i want my nails to grow and be strong. She suggested i change the shape in order for them to grow and she would use a nail strengthener. Fast forward a few months later and I'm OBSESSED. My nails are long and strong. Not only do they look great and healthy, she is extremely artistic and creative if you're looking for designs. People constantly notice and compliment anytime i have a nice design. Also my gel manicure has lasted up to 4 weeks. No breaking, chipping or peeling at all. I'm always happy when i leave. I will never look for another place in Anchorage! Worth every penny. this was a very painful experience! i do not recommend this salon! i was cut multiple times and the lady doing my nails did not clean the drill after cutting me she just continue drilling my nails and continue cutting my cuticles! i still paid $85 for the nails! they don't wash their hands after each customer and doesn't clean the desk or tools. hopefully i don't get an infection from my cuts! read more

I heard about this place from some of the baristas I see every morning. They always have the most gorgeous nails so I finally asked who does them. They told me Vee at Hollywood Nails does. I've never gotten a manicure aside from a color when my sister gave me a gift card for another place but decided to get some nails for vacation. I went a little longer and showed Vee some inspiration pictures, she made some suggestions and got to work. They turned out so beautiful and elegant! I stopped into Hollywood in a pinch one evening right as it was closing, and they stayed open to give me a great shellac manicure. They could have easily turned me away or done a rushed job, but instead they went above and beyond. I just got the best pedicure I've ever had. A gentleman whose name I don't remember spent such a dedicated amount of time on my pedicure-- more dedication than I've gotten when I pay for a more premium pedicure at other places. I called and made an appointment for 4 separate people who wanted all different things, the gentlemen on the phone told me I could come in at 4:00pm... Arriving a few minutes early to these "scheduled appointments" we saw someone walk out of the nail salon to have a cigarette, and upon walking into the location we discovered that the person who walked out of the salon was an employee and the ONLY person who was there and available for the four of us... he said that he has called two other people and no one had answered the phone calls that he made... asking us who wanted to start first while the other three waited for possible people to arrive. Seeing as we were annoyed he suggested a few doors down was another nail salon and said we should try there... we did as he suggested and went somewhere else. He lost business. I've been coming to this nail salon since I was only a sophomore in high school. I LOVE the location, LOVE the customer service, and absolutely LOVE the staff. When you walk-in, you automatically feel like apart of a very warm and genuine family. The service and professionalism is absolutely wonderful! The prices are totally reasonable and they don't finish your nails until you're completely happy with the way the look. I've never left with as much as a small dent or bump on any of my nails. The selection they have for various nail tips and polishes is outstanding. I refuse to have my nails done anywhere else in Anchorage.
