they were very nice but the man that did my nails was very aggressive with i high grit file taking off my shellac. my nails were strong and heathy but now are so flexible my fresh shellac was cracking and peeling the same day. i debated calling them to tell them but i dont think he would care because i kept telling him he was hurting me burning abd bending my nails. my nails were snagging my hair a couple of days after. The place was dirty, dark, and Jurassic park theme song was playing on repeat loudly for the hour and half I was there. Just wanted to get a take off and gel mani. Took an hour and half. I felt like I was slipping into madness with that song repeating. Had to have the gel taken off twice because the first time not even the color was all the way off before the new one went on cotton bits and nail polish poking out. It looked awful. It's been 4 days and it's already chipped most of the way off, cracking, uneven layers. Really the worst mani I've ever gotten and just a terrible experience all around. read more

Definitely recommend! They were able to do a Sunday appointment for me even though they are normally closed that day. He did an amazing job with my acrylics! And it was my three year old daughter's first time going to a salon (just to get her nails painted with momma) and they did an amazing job making her feel comfortable. She loved it! read more

I had a great experience here at the nail salon. It was my first time here and didn't know what to expect. Upon arrival, we were instructed to sign in and grab a complimentary drink from the fridge! I've never seen any salons offer that so it was a nice touch. I got a back fill and painted over my white tips. The technician was nice and friendly. He did a very good job. I was impressed! Pricing here is also very reasonable! They seem to be slightly more affordable than other salons in the area. My fill cost me $20! After paying, we also received a coupon for $5 OFF any pedicure service on our next visit. I'll definitely be coming back here for all my future nail needs! read more

I've been going here on and off for two years. They usually always have time to fit me in ... meaning they aren't busy which might be because they're very inconsistent. I usually get acrylics which I'm never quite satisfied with. Last week I gave them another chance and I was very disappointed. They could not shape my nails, the acrylic came out wonky and a few of the nails have what appears to be ridges on the surface. I simply asked for square, short plain white acrylics and they somehow failed. This was definitely my last try. read more

For someone that never gets their nails done it can be quite stressful wondering where to go. Especially for someone that doesn't live in Anchorage. Wow! I am in heaven and seeing stars. Next to Anchorage Yoga in the mall off 36th Ave. If you want a relaxing pedicure with the friendliest, happiest people come here. Best pedicure I've EVER had and I've had pedi's all over the U.S. They pay close attention to detail throughout the entire service. The massage, salt scrub, exfoliating callous treatment alone is worth every penny but it doesn't stop there. I opted for the $50 paraffin wax pedi and mani and oooohh my it was beyond lovely. The beautiful music, atmosphere and friendly staff make it a thousand times more enjoyable. I can't say enough about this place. I found my new pedicure home and am so happy I did. Prices on pedi's range from $30-$50 and a combination mani pedi is $75. Worth every penny! read more

It's a Saturday. 5pm. I found this place as it's close to the hotel I'm staying at. Called and a gentleman was very nice and told me to come in as soon as I can. I was there in 5 minutes as I know they were closing soon. Very nice staff and they offer a cold complimentary drink/water. Lady that did my pedicure did a great job! (Picture attached). Ive given them 3 chances to impress me and I've only been satisfied with one experience here. This last time was the last straw for me. My daughter is 5 months old and was fussing this last time and when she wouldn't calm down with one of the girls I went with one of the techs PICKS HER UP. Today was my first time here. My son's girlfriend goes here a lot and recommended it and since I was in the area I decided to give it a try. Upon entering the building I was greeted by a nice lady, who asked me what I was wanting to have done (I told her a mani/pedi.) She told me to please take a complimentary beverage from the cooler (which had a host of different drinks from coffee, soda, water, etc) I chose a perrier. She told me to pic my colors, and that it wouldn't mind taking a seat that it would be just a couple minutes. I didn't have an appointment and they appeared to be somewhat busy so I had anticipated having to wait a bit. The place was very clean and didn't have that overwhelming chemical smell to it like the one I normally go to does. Shortly thereafter I was brought to a pedicure tub. The water was very warm, almost hot (which is how I like it.) I soaked for a few minutes and then the lady came to work on me. She took off my polish on my toes, and then my fingernails. She then put my hands in small baggies, with cuticle remover, and put them into heated hand covers. She was pretty speedy with all of this, and then let my feet soak a few more minutes as she had to do some special nail art on the lady next to me. I was in no hurry so I was fine with a little more soaking. While she did that one of the guys came and worked on my hands. He trimmed my cuticles, and massaged my hand and arms with lotion. When the woman returned she cleaned off my nails one last time and proceeded to paint them. I brought my own polish and she applied two coats of polish and then top coat. As my fingernails dried she moved onto my feet. She trimmed my toenails, and surrounding cuticles, and smooth out any rough skin on my heals and the pads of my feet, then painted my toenails. She then spent a good 15 minutes massaging me feet and legs. Now mind you, I'm one of those weird folks that doesn't really enjoy the massaging part, especially on my legs, but I do like it on my feet. She spent a long time, and then used warm towels to wipe off the extra lotion left on them. She had me move to the nail dryers and then proceeded to massage my neck, back, and head for at least another 10 minutes. When she was done I waited another couple minutes for my toes to be completely dry and then headed to the counter to pay. All total for my mani/pedi it was $45.00 plus tip (a very reasonable price I thought) considering I normally pay that much for just a fast pedicure! Overall I was very pleased with the services I received. The lady said while she was working on my nails that if anything was not to my liking to please let her know. I have never had such a long massage, and felt so welcome in a nail salon. I'm sure things might perhaps be a bit more rushed during peak busy time, but by the time I was getting worked on things had died down and it was much quieter. I will definitely be going back here again. It is my new go to nail salon for sure! Try it out! read more

They did a fantastic job on me and my sisters nails and got us in the same day, staying extra late to finish up. Super friendly and do amazing massages. They don't rush to finish up, but take time to make it look amazing. The nails are as close to perfect as possible and the designs are extremely precise. I came back a few weeks later to get a touch up and they did a great job with it. I will definitely be a repeat customer and recommend them to anyone I can. read more

Zulie did my nails today and they turned out great! She took her time and really did a phenomenal job creating the look I wanted: black matte almond shaped Halloween nails! I am pleased with the appearance of the nails but the quality is less than perfect. Multiple nails on each hand are not smooth on the underside. Awesome customer service! Update: I am reducing my review by 1 star for lack of quality. It has been 8 days since my nails were done (acrylic) and 4 of the nails are breaking/peeling away from my nail bed! I had surgery last week and was not active at all - there was no "wear and tear" which could explain why my nails are already falling off. The worst manicure I've ever had. In addition to telling me, "you're done, sit down," while I was choosing my color (she wasn't even ready for me), she also refused to do a manicure on my 5 year old niece but still charged $5 for polish. So rude. She painted on my cuticles and the polish was lumpy, nails uneven length. Horrible. read more

No no no. This place is not clean at all. They reuse their pumice stones (ew) and the only "disinfectant" I saw being used to clean anything was hand soap AND they used the same brush to clean their basin as they did a customers feet. SICK. There was also a big old spot of blood on my towel that wasn't mine.....they collect the disposable toe separators and flip flops and REUSE THEM. Also sick! I hope I didn't get an infection this time but I'll never come back. Also it was $40!!!!! Wth. read more

Unfortunately this is my first negative review. :( This nail spa is good for a quick in and out place if you're in a rush. They have cheap utensils and do a quick job. The outcome looks pretty good, however the nail technician I had really badly cut my finger. I had to honestly tell him to stop hacking up my hands, as they are dry and don't need "cuticle care." I jumped and yelled. Needless to say, 2 hours later my thumb is still bleeding. It hurt like heck and he did not apologize or offer a discounts for injuring me. Never written a review before, I really wanted a nice relaxing pedi for my birthday, but didn't know where to go. Have tried a couple of other places in town with mixed results, so I put the question to the hordes on Facebook. For every place someone recommended, two others would comment about horrible experience. One friend mentioned Artistic Nails and no one had anything bad to say, so after checking reviews here, I decided to give them a try. I was able to get a same day appointment and when I arrived the shop itself was nicely decorated with soothing colors and music in the background No loud music videos blaring (which my kids love, but not me) I was offered cold drinks from a fridge stocked with soda, water, Perrier and seated right away. I did not get the name of the gentleman who did my pedicure, but he was wonderful. While I was enjoying myself I got to see the staff acknowledge customers by name when they walked in and even had my technician chastise a customer who was leaving for not properly taking care of her shellac (?). She had to promise to do better. I got the Royal Pedicure which included callous treatment, a scrub, a paraffin treatment and a 15 minute foot and leg massage. It was wonderful, a real massage, not the quick rub you sometimes get. While one foot was in the paraffin, he massaged through other. If I had one complaint, it would be that it seemed to me he massaged on foot longer than the other. They even had a very substantial selection of polish colors. Some that seems to be lacking at some salons. All this, and the price was only $50. I have paid a lot more for a lot less. But never again! They have a new regular! I will be back and bringing get my girls and my friends! Thank you Artistic Nails for helping to make my birthday such a great day! read more

I found that they were rushing and the quality of the painting was not what I am used too. I saw bottles of Clorox sitting next to the soaking tubs BUT I did not see them take the nail cutters and cuticle removers from a sterilizer. We had 3 pedis and 1 mani. Also, I believe that if you chose a color from the Shellac Polish section that they charge extra for those nail polish. (That's what I understood from the lady.) The OPI section did not have as many colors to chose from. The owner (she seemed like she was the owner or maybe manager) was the most friendly and inviting. The other technicians did not talk much. Just saying. Everyone was happy so that's why I gave four stars. IT IS JUST NOT WHAT I EXPECTED. read more

However the service received (pedis for a friend and I) left a lot to be desired. Our feet had very little soaking time, and very little attention to the heels. I swear my nail tech took the "sander" used on my friend and tried to use it on my feet. I put a stop to that craziness and my heels didn't get any further treatment. Omg I think I'm in love. The customer service at this place cannot be rivaled with. I went to this place the first time because the reviews were good and I wanted to try a new place. I went for a pedicure and it was great. The pedicure itself was beautiful, but it was the 10 minute massage that put it over the top. About 2 weeks later I needed a manicure... (the other place I go to does a nice job, though their customer service could use some work.) So I decided to try Artistic Nails again and oh my lord, I'm never going anywhere else again! The manicure was amazing, but it's the customer service at this place that puts it at the best nail experience I've ever had. Right when you walk in you're greeted by the owner, she's been there every time I've been in, working hard. Then you get a complimentary beverage, lots of refreshing choices. The man that did my nails did an amazing job. He had a very light touch and used a bunch of new techniques that I've never seen before which made the whole experience more pleasant. At the end I got a 5 minute back massage included with the manicure....need I say more?? But I will, one last thing... The day after I got that amazing manicure I ripped one of my nails at work because I'm the worst and I thought the world was over. This is such a big deal to me because I used to bite my nails and just recently stopped, so the length on them now is the longest I've ever had and I was going to be devastated if just one was ripped back down to the top of my finger. So I went back seeing if they could save it and guess what? The owner herself stopped the break with her magic powder and redid the whole nail, no charge. So sweet. Seriously. This place is amazing.
