I have been going to this salon for my gel pedicures for at least three years. I've seen a couple different techs. Feb is my favorite. (I actually followed her here from her old salon!) She is gentle, thorough, and consistently does a great job. I have never had issues with chipping or breaking. I've only had a gel manicure when I got French gels for my wedding in 2022, done by another gal here, and they were gorgeous. 0/10 would not recommend. I came to Pure Nails after a coworker gave me a recommendation about getting a pedicure. I did show up without an appointment at 3:45 PM, and they asked me to come back at five, and I agreed. I showed the young lady the picture that I wanted, and she didn't have a problem with it. She said it was fine. We started at five. She did not finish my nails till almost 8:15 PM. I also asked for a pedicure, and that wasn't started till a little after seven because the young lady doing my nails was taking more time than she thought it would take, I guess, to complete them. Everyone was obviously in a rush to leave the store and they went back-and-forth about who was gonna finish my pedicure, so once the gentleman came and put the acrylic on my toes and then another lady came to paint them and didn't give me a massage, didn't do my callus, didn't do anything, just painted my toes. She did not do a second coat. She just put clear on and put me under the light, and so part of my issue is that one, my entire toe is not even covered with the toenail or the acrylic that I paid for, so you can see in the picture. It's not even covering my entire toe. My nails, the gems on my nails started coming off because the young lady did not even put a topcoat on, and at this point it was already after 8 o'clock, so the gems have just been snagging and getting catching on to everything and popping off. Picture below, you can also see where on Monday night my nails were lifting. I don't work in any kind of strenuous job. I am an office administrator. I sit at a desk and type all day, so I'm barely having anything done around my nails where they're being aggressively forced to make my nails pop off. I did call Monday after my appointment was on Saturday night and I was told by the receptionist that she would pass my message along to the manager and the manager would reach out to me, today is Wednesday and no one has reached out to me about correcting anything regarding my toes or my nails. I did spend $220 and left a $40 tip. read more

I have been to quite a few nail salons in anchorage && my bestie took me to this place && we have loved it ever since. They are always able to fit you in as a walk in OR by appointment. I have never waiting over 5 minutes to get it to their place if they have availability - but they always let you know if there's some sort of wait. The awesome lady of the house is always busting it, and multi taking answering the phones and setting appointments while she does manicures. She's the bomb DOT com! The technicians are always super nice! I've only gotten pedicures here so I don't quite know how their mani techs are - but watching hem serve other patrons while I get my toes done - the patrons always seem to leave happy - 11/10 would recommend! read more

Great experience! Took my sister who had a stroke and they were very gentle and patient with her. Love the glass bowl pedi spas..The ladies that helped us were super nice and didn't talk to each other the whole time like many salons which can be very annoying. The only complaint is the bathroom area could be updated (the back area) but otherwise the selections of nail polish and everything else was quite lovely as was the Ambience of the place. I've lived in Anchorage for a little under 2 years and have been to 4 different nail salons searching for the perfect nail salon! Well, I've finally found it at Pure Nails Spa (on 88th). I called and made an appointment, I arrived on time and was greeted right away by a gentleman. I told him I had an appointment and he seated me right away. He then asked what I needed and he started right away. After speaking to him I found out he was the owner. He was very personable as he worked on my nails. The salon was exceptionally clean and very nicely decorated. My nails look amazing! I will recommend this place to everyone!!!! The absolute worst nail salon I've ever been to. I have lived in multiple states and gotten better $20 acrylics than this place. They were all different lengths, lumpy, and crooked. The woman coughed on my hands multiple times, and took almost two hours for a full set. I went to the second location the next day to get them fixed and they charged me. Came here because my regular lady wasn't available at my usual spot. Was disappointed, asked for gel toes and got the gel polish, but did not cure it with the light, and it got smeared even after 20 minutes of sitting to dry. Went back the next day to fix it. Not 2 days after, paint on all toes started to chip, my second indicator that gel was not put on my toes...which I had paid for. We went to the one on Dimond across from Fred Meyer. It was amazing!!! I at first felt like my nail tech was hurrying up doing my nails, but later realized she was just a pro getting the job done. I had a vague idea of what I wanted done and she totally helped me pick out a cute idea as we went. She asked me many times if I was happy. It was a clean, friendly environment. I wanted to love this place. It had the 5 star rating. Everyone raved about James. James seemed to be quite the business man and seemed very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, I did not get James when I came in for my appointment. Seems I got "the help," at the end of her workday, and she was in training. She required lots of coaching from James. I almost thought she was a student. She did all the tasks listed on the brochure for the $65 pedicure (along with greeting guests, answering the phone, texting, operating remote for TV, getting lessons from James on things like: proper water temperature, how to cool a wet towel so guest is not scalded, how to do paraffin wax, how long to massage....) Everybody has to learn, but I didn't feel I was able to relax being the guinea pig with boiled feet and hot legs. She told James she was "locked in for an hour" referring to the length of my service (so she couldn't work on the clients who followed me). I really don't want anyone to feel "locked in" to anything I am paying them for. Perhaps she had an off day, or she still a work in progress as far as training goes. She applied the sugar scrub but she didn't rub it in to exfoliate. She went thru the motions of massaging my legs, but it was more of her putting oil and lotion on my legs and feet than a massage. She yawned several times before and after my ignored request for more pressure...she was there just going thru the motions. Made me wish I had gone elsewhere because the experience was disappointing. Pluses: The ventilation was great! No crazy, toxic fumes. James was nice and I could tell he wanted things done well, thus the coaching. Place was visually appealing. She polishes well? Will I return? I'm all for the journey, not just end result. Word to the wise: If you do decide to go....ASK FOR JAMES! read more

All my nails are uneven she didn't even check the length by match with the opposite hand. Shape far from what I asked for. Plenty of Miss shape couldn't even tell you half of these different shapes! Just in gel alone for 3 people was $180 alone ridiculous. Nobody working that night can polish a window let alone a nail. I asked for green on my toes and instead I received an ombré of white included(never asked for any white by the way). All together our total was over $400 for some BS. I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone who really is serious about their nails like I am, their a joke. read more

This is the first and only nail salon I will ever go to. Most importantly its CLEAN on the inside. The first thing I ever got here was an acrylics full set. James did an AMAZING job and had me excited to come back every time I needed a fill. They take their time with their services and the quality is hard to beat. If you compare their full set acrylics to someone else's from another shop, theres a big difference. Other nail salons make acrylics look thin and flimsy, but not here! Once, I broke one of my acrylics getting my finger caught in a door. I went back to the salon to get it fixed and James fixed it for free! I love this place! read more

I loved upon first impression. It was welcoming and clean. All tools were individually sealed, and you can tell the owner (James) takes great pride in his work and keeping the shop at high standards. I was disappointed to learn when I first got there that they no longer accept credit cards (no mention was made of this when I scheduled my appointment), but they do have an ATM in the shop. Thankfully I had enough cash on me. There was a toddler (the son of the owner and one of the workers) who was just running around the entire time. He was well behaved, but it was distracting. His mom had to continually get up and stop the pedicure she was working on to manage her son. At one point he tried to help with a pedicure *results will end poorly*. The lady who was doing my pedicure was distracted and seemed to be somewhere else mentally. The end result of my paint job is sloppy, with uneven lines and paint over the edges of my toes. I got the top of the line pedicure (I can't remember what they call it), but it was supposed to come with either a French Tip or two designs. I did not get those. When I asked, the lady said they were no longer included. I can not justify $65 to return to a place where I pay for a sloppy pedicure that I feel mediocre about and am counting down the days until I find a new place to get my next pedi. read more

I really wanted to love this place, because it's minutes from home. The pedicure was ok. However, they had a toddler running around crying and screaming. His mother wasn't watching him, and he almost ruined my pedicure because he tried to "help" and put a separator on my foot. At one point he was just running in circles around the salon. He was very cute, but this is inappropriate for a business. When I go to get mania and pedis I am looking for relaxation and quiet. It's a pampering time. This made me feel more stressed. Maybe this isn't the norm and I went on a bad day. It is curious that I was the only customer. The young lady that did my pedicure was very nice. The chairs are very nice and I enjoyed the massage they gave. I don't think I'll be back. read more

In between three kids playing, crying, and screaming and the drama between a customer and technician that left one of the nail technicians walking out the door, somehow I walked away with a "pedicure".
