Great experience today, husband and I both got massages and had the same wonderful experience. My therapist listened to my muscle aches and applied the right pressure to meet all my needs. Best foot massage too! I have some sports injuries and she did a great job working around them but still giving me the relaxation and muscle relief. The waiting area was wonderful, calm and comfortable with ice cold water, plus teas, available. Wish I had more time to chill before and after. What ruined it was they kept offering champagne - which I thought would make up for the price - but upon settling up they charged me $12 per glass! And they had the audacity to include an automatic tip in the final bill too. I felt like a total sucker. read more

They spared no expense in the design of this spa: it's incredible. Sweeping views of the Chugach and downtown, soft muted "cool" colors welcome you. The ladies lounge has crystal chandeliers and the waiting rooms have lemon-infused water. However, the ambiance aside, the service really lacked, from beginning to end. The young woman at reception was not as professional as I'd encountered at other spas. I was surprised that she asked me what my shoe size was and then just pointed at the basket full of spa shower shoes and said that I "could look for my size." (Sorry if that makes me sound like a snob, but I don't usually expect things to be fetched for me, unless I'm paying a good amount of money to be pampered, which, in this case, I was.) Skip to the actual massage, which was completely underwhelming. My therapist seemed very young and when I told her I would like more of a deep tissue/swedish combination, she seemed uncomfortable with that. I basically got a swedish massage and my neck muscles were still stiff at the end. Bottom line: the ambiance is 5-star, but the service was 1-star. And the cost-to-value ratio lowered my average to 2-stars. read more

My husband booked a couples massage at the Sheraton Ice Spa shortly after the Christmas holiday. I had been really looking forward to it, having never been to the Ice Spa before, but left extremely disappointed. Almost all of the dressing room lockers, equipped with fancy keypad locking mechanisms, were out-of-order so I had to leave my valuables with the front desk. The robes that were provided were dirty, obviously having not been washed for some time. After dressing, the receptionist directed my husband and I to take advantage of the refreshments that were available in the waiting room. These consisted of a few unappetizing plates of cheese that had begun to develop that oily, been-out-of-the-fridge-too-long rind. Given their picked-over appearance, the platters had clearly been intended for a party that had concluded prior to our arrival. Had the massages been good, I might have forgiven the Ice Spa of its other faults, but they were, we each agreed, underwhelming at best. I think my provider must have been sick. For the entire 90 minutes, she snorted and sniffed like she needed to blow her nose. It was very hard to relax as I lay there wondering if the next time she put her hand on my back, it might have something more than just massage lotion on it. My husband later confided that his provider had attempted to work out several tough "knots" in the center of his back before belatedly realizing that they were vertebrae. As much as I hate to give a poor review, there were just no redeeming qualities to our experience at the Sheraton Ice Spa, and I would not recommend the establishment, especially considering the high cost of their services. read more

I had a the privilege of being a guest at the Ice Spa during a recent weekend getaway at the Sheraton. I knew early on that I wanted to treat myself to a couple of spa services so ended up contacting the Ice Spa shortly after I made my reservations for the hotel. I contacted the ice spa through the reservation link on their website and asked for an Ice Custom Facial and a Hot Stone Massage. I had hope to get them back to back but given it was Valentine's Day weekend they had filled up quite quickly and as a result I ended up booking my Ice Custom Facial at 10:30 and then my Hot Stone Massage at 1:00. So basically I would have an hour break between services. Since I was staying in the hotel it wasn't a big deal to me. I was contacted quite quickly by their front desk staff regarding my reservations and was asked to provide my credit card as a deposit. Additionally we went over the time requirements for cancellations in the event I needed to. I was also advised to check in 20-25 minutes before my first service so I could change into my robe and be assigned a locker. Given I love spas I was definitely looking forward to experiencing this. I arrived the morning of my "spa day" perhaps 25 minutes ahead of it being scheduled. I probably would have arrived earlier but it actually took me some time to figure out where the heck the Ice Spa was. I knew it was on the 16th Floor and that one had to access it from the 15th Floor. I spent a few moments wandering around and finally figured out that in order to access it look for the single elevator next to the Ice Spa wall sign. I stepped off the elevator and was quickly greeted. I was then asked if I had been a guest before or if this was my first time there. Given it was my first time I was shown how the lockers worked and given a robe and flip flops and then shown where to sit and wait until I was called for my facial. I should have paid more attention because I got lost again. In my defense there are a lot of twists and turns to the Ice Spa. I was waiting in the sitting room off of the ladies lounge and not in the bigger lounge like I should have been. Finally got the feeling that something was up and asked if I was where I was supposed to be. I started my morning with a custom facial which lasted 80 minutes and also included a wonderful bank massage. I was so relaxed I actually ended up falling asleep during it for a few moments. Which has never happened to me. Each step was explained to me and we discussed any allergies or sensitivities. I had an allergic reaction the night before to a makeover I had done downtown and as a result I could simply be described as a tomato face that morning. The esthetician however was quick to walk me through ingredients in the products they were using and that there shouldn't be any more irritation to my rosacea than I was already feeling before then. Which was correct because when I left my face was quite a bit less inflamed. I went back downstairs to my room for my hour break and then wandered back upstairs for my hot stone massage. At least I knew I wouldn't be late for that as I knew where I was going this time. The hot stone massage was another hour of bliss and I cannot wait for my next experience at the Ice Spa. Staff were some of the friendliest I have met and never did I feel uncomfortable. I was draped constantly so my privacy was respected. Additionally the spa itself is just beautiful with soothing music and interiors to add to the relaxed atmosphere. You are greeted after each of your services with cold lemon water. A nice touch. Definitely a gem to the Anchorage spa scene. It was my best decision of my weekend away. Thanks Ice Spa! read more

I stayed at the Sheraton for a week and had several treatments at the Ice Spa. I enjoyed that it was easy access and the waiting areas were beautiful and comfortable. Fire and Ice Manicure and Pedicure - Do not recommend The lady who serviced my nails was friendly and kind. I enjoyed the service itself, as in the cooling mask and scrubs. It was relaxing and the spa has a great view. I opted for the shellac manicure and I frequently get shellac manicures, so I can confidently say I've had better. After three days, one finger totally peeled off and two more were "chipped"! A total bummer and waste of money as it cost $170+ for this treatment. My pedicure looks alright, but it is nothing spectacular. Next time I'll just visit a regular nail salon (like the Rose Hip!) to get these done. Seriously - I wish I could ask for a refund because of the condition of my nails. Warm Stone Massage - Recommend This service was done by Volker. This was my first stone massage and I enjoyed it thoroughly! It was relaxing and the warmth and pressure of the stones was wonderful. Also, the masseuse was friendly and professional. Northern Lights Facial - Recommend I enjoyed this facial tremendously and my face did too as it looked brighter and clearer the next day! The technician was friendly and informative. The service was totally relaxing as it also included a massage of my neck, shoulders, and arms while the masks were on my face. The lights were a new experience for me and it was a little bit much in the beginning, but I got used to it after a minute or two. I seriously am considering getting this facial every time I visit Anchorage as the results were phenomenal. Before this treatment I had lots of redness, blemishes everywhere, and dull-looking skin. Afterwards my skin was glowing, bright, redness was reduced, and the blemishes were diminished and even went away faster than normal! read more

First time customer and last time customer. I treated five of my friends to manicures as a Holiday present after three very long weeks of work and long hours. Unfortunately one friend had an issue come up and couldn't make it at the last minute. Because I made the original reservations I was charged the full price for her appointment. I understand the need for cancellation policies, but it was steep for something out of my control. Usually there is some wiggle room for a first time customer. I would even been ok with a 50% fee or something. A token of understanding. The manicures were fine and the atmosphere was nice but not special enough to be worth going through that again. My sweet husband got me a spa package for Mothers Day from here.... I was so excited! When I called to book the appointment, I told the receptionist what the gift certificate was specifically for and she said I didn't have to do what the certificate was for, instead, I could use the dollar amount to get whatever services I wanted. I thought, great! I added up what the gift certificate was for and went thru the online menu and figured out what I wanted to have done, called back and booked those appointments. I figured it that between the gift certificate and what I wanted that I would break even. So, I arrived to my appointment, had all the services, I ordered a martini-which I knew I would be out of pocket for (the lemon drop martini wasn't great). When it came time to check out the receptionist told me that I owed $60. I was dumbfounded. So, I asked to see the bill to understand what the charges were. Turns out....when someone buys you a gift package, the services are "discounted" and gratuity is included. BUT if you deviate from the package-whether unknowingly or not-you "lose" the package price and now owe gratuity. Don't get me wrong, it has nothing to do with gratuity as I am a firm believer in it. It's just that there's a HUGE grey area in the way they tell people, " you can either do what the package is or use the dollar value to get whatever you would like". They leave out the part where if you change to what you want instead of the package YOU are penalised. Not a great way of doing business in my opinion. Communicate with your customers, Let them know the FULL options, don't give them surprises at the end, it truly takes away from the experience and makes me hesitant to go back. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would still opt to give a -10 to this spa. The receptionist is wonderful, the service from the nail technician was great however unless you can predict the future - this is not the spa for you. On Saturday 2/7/15 my girlfriend who was visiting from NY and I decided to go have a spa day. While driving to Starbucks in the morning I was rear ended thanks to the never ending ice on our roads, and completely wrapped up in insurance, police, and rental car chaos for the following 3 hours. I totally forgot about our pedicures, since I was understandably having a panic attack that my car I got three months ago was already destroyed. Some time during that period the receptionist from Ice called to let us know we missed our appointment and asked if we wanted to reschedule - at that point we had no idea when we would be able to get a rental car and honestly, I could hardly think straight and a pedicure was not my priority. We re-scheduled to Monday (or so we thought) and were notified that there was a four hour cancellation policy. This was never explained during the initial booking, but being in the service industry we both totally understood and assumed they wanted to let us know for this upcoming service. Later that day we noticed a charge on my friends card from the Spa - we just figured it was a hold for the services we rescheduled. So Monday comes and we go into the Spa, check in with the receptionist and get our pedicure. The pedicure was great and the girl was very sweet - no complaints there. However upon checkout when we asked about the hold we were informed that it was not a hold - it was a 100% charge from the hotel for not making our initial appointment. We tried to explain to the receptionist what happened and that it was obviously one of those situations out of our hands - and that we still wanted to be patrons hence coming back to get our pedicured. She very kind and very apologetic - just as her manager was when we asked to speak to her as well. Finally, I asked to speak to the highest person I could - who ended up being the GM of the hotel, Colin McBeath. As he walked in I stood up to introduce myself as well as my friend. Understandably I probably look like I am ten when I am not dressed professionally however who wears a suit to a pedicure? I am the VP of Business Development for a National non for profit agency .. and I have never been so disgusted or felt more disrespected than I did with the way in which he looked at me. While explaining the situation to him and expressing we sympathized with the service providers however we did not agree to those charges - he looked me up and down with the most condescending, arrogant, and demeaning look I have ever seen in my life. Little does he know his hotel just sent us a proposal for our 200 thousand dollar conference in June. He snidely scolded us and informed us there was nothing he could do. At that time I was so shocked, humiliated and disgusted I just said okay and walked out. Regardless that we did not agree to, sign for or authorize any charges we just had to leave that place and figured we would deal with the credit card company later. Since my girlfriend had the charges on her card I paid the fees for our pedicure while the receptionist profusely apologized and you could see her general concern. I work with hotels around the country on a regular basis and I have never seen such a pathetic horrible excuse for hospitality from a GM before. Colin should be ashamed that he would speak to or treat any paying customer in such a way. So as I said unless you are psychic or masochistic and enjoy being belittled, humiliated, or treated as thought your business means nothing to this Spa I would stay away. The only shining light from all this was seeing how their GM treated us - because I have no doubt this is how they would treat any of our 400+ attendees we bring to our Anchorage Conference. read more

I live in Anchorage and my husband books special occasions at the ice spa. I received a massage from the male therapist (the only full time male therapist there, according to him) and his massage blew me away. I get massages frequently for a bad back and his was the best I've ever experienced. Not only could he deliver with removing my aches and pains like he had a sixth sense but he was also friendly and courteous. Not only was the service terrific but the Ice Spa itself is amazing. The views are stunning from the 15th floor, and the spa amenities are swank. The downside is the price for services. The Ice Spa has 5 star pricing and then they tax on an additional 18% gratuity to their advertised cost. I don't mind paying that amount for the best massage I've ever had but it is definitely hard on the pocket book, especially when you're trying to treat yourself right (massage, soak, etc). All in all I've had a few great experiences there. I plan to return for additional services but first I have to start saving my pennies. read more

I was so pleasantly surprised! Very comfortable spa, with small, but welcoming relaxation spaces. Clean, quiet, nicely decorated, with plenty of amentities. I got the Mother to Be package and it was phenomenal. I go to a lot of spas, and was really happy with the service and quality of the treatments. My ethestician was Connie. She was so sweet, did a great pedi, and was so nice to "girl talk" with. She also did my facial, and she let me relax (until work called, and she was very understanding...). My masseuse was one of the best I have had. And my brain is blanking, but seriously fantastic. I could have been in her care for hours. My only recommendationa would be to have a little bit more time between the treatments, although I did not feel rushed nor were my treatments cut short, as often packages will do. Also, wish there were more snack options. Plus, the give a military discount! Was so happy to have spent the afternoon here. Thank you! read more

ICE SPA was fabulous. This place is exactly what I imagined an upscale spa to be. Besides the fact that the location up on the top of the Sheraton is unique in itself you get a very real sense of rejuvination from the ambiance here. I felt pampered right from the moment I called for an appointment. Brittany even called me back to let me know about a better time that opened up and she never asked for a card. My provider, Lynn was exceptionally tuned in to my needs as well as completely professional, what a wonderful experience. I cant say that their was one negative in the entire experience. The facility is super clean and relaxing I felt like a king the whole time. As I was leaving Brittany went out of her way to help me get to my next scheduled task, she even called an associate for input . Ice Spa has ruined me by setting a new standard to which all other spas will be held. On top of it all it was not only less expensive than I expected but they volunteered a special discount for being retired military, this place is rare. Ice Spa is the real deal people. read more

I had the Icelandic moonflower. I'm absolutely in love with the smell, but I was a little disappointed that they didn't have the massage oil for sale. Only the body wash, lotion, and something else, I forgot but another wash. There have been few times in my life that I have experienced "high end" service that was, simply put, really bad. We ordered drinks on arrival, they showed up 45 minutes later. We had booked manicures, which I would think for a wedding party would include a soak, a hand massage, and a selection of high end polishes that included shellac and no-chip options, as well as french tips. Nope! We asked if the bride could get a white tipped French polish, and we're told no because they didn't have time (we had appointments) and that the technician didn't have the right tools. Her polish chipped before we even left. They included an 18% gratuity on the check, which was surprising after the elevator signage had told us to expect a 15% charge -- after taking only 20 mins per person to do an entire manicure. I'm all for speedy and friendly service, for a good price, as long as the services received are what is advertised and what the prices reflect. The bride plans to have her nails re-done tomorrow.......sad. I hope that the hotel offers to do the right thing and at least refund her. I'll just hope someone else reads this before wasting time and money on an experience that is not worth the high price tag. read more

I had high expectations. I heard rave reviews for their massages from two people. I had been told to take advantage of the spa amenities and definitely try out the steam shower. So I scheduled a pedicure for myself and a sports pedicure for my husband. The location of the spa is on the top floor and views are amazing. The lobby area has very comfortable couches with a keurig for coffee, lemon infused water, juice (bottled), and hot water for tea. Fresh apples, oranges, and nuts to snack on. Our names were called and we were brought to the pedicure stations. They looked really nice. We were seated so that we had beautiful views of the inlet. It was a tight space. I was expecting a spa experience with robes and the steam shower I had heard so much about. However we were sat in the pedicure benches right away. It was awkward for us because there was a lady next to us was in a robe and we were in jeans. I get pedicures often and had been looking forward to reclining massage chairs. Ice spa has padded benches that sit you at a 90 degree angle. The pedicure lasted about 50 minutes and there is no way to relax on benches for that long. The treatment itself was nice. It started with a hot water soak followed by about a minute or two of a scrub. Next they massage lotion into your legs, followed by a parafin wax treatment. The whole process was clean, the wax is contained in individual foot bags. In other words you do not have to dip your legs in a vat of wax. The pedicure itself was pretty basic. I usually need a little bit more advanced tools for my calluses during the winter, let's just leave it at that. They are limited to using large emory boards for buffing your heels. So expect to go somewhere else if you want to fix your winter feet. I opted for the french tip. She tried hand painting it on. (There is a $10 fee for french tips.) After a couple clear coats she walked me to the couches to dry my nails further. There are no fans or UV lights to dry your nails. 20 minutes later my nails were completely wet. Another lady tested them and the french tips came away with her finger. She was very nice and wiped off the polish with nail polish remover and painted a clear coat. It would have been okay but she fixed my nails at the chairs beside the register because the pedicure chairs were full. Also I misread the pricing sheet which states that prices include an 18% gratuity. I thought that was fabulous to avoid the awkward "would you like to leave a tip?" I had been to a few places that included the tip in their pricing in Seattle, it was nice. However here the tip is added on at the register, so add 18% to whatever you choose from their list. Paid about $150 total. I will not return. All in all the ladies were really sweet, I felt like they didn't have the proper tools for a pedicure. I will go back to my regular nail salon for half the price and twice the service. read more

This was one of the worst spa experiences I have ever had. My mother and I went in for a ore wedding day pedicure and left extremely disappointed. Our reservation was lost and our second reservation was inaccurate and they overbooked. We did not get the treatment we requested and were charged for "additional services," and did not receive the discount we were promised. My mother did not get a top coat over her pedicure which after an hour of sitting was still not dry. Now we have to get an additional pedicure to fix her toenails. I would never recommend any nail services here and now we have to find a new spa for my big day and bridal party with such short notice. read more

Worst pedicure service EVER. I don't ideally post this, however, I have never had this bad of service. I did the "Pedi and Martini" with a friend and the two nail technicians were in a hurry, basically racing each other. My pedicure, she screwed up my right foot and made it look terrible. Smudged my big toe nail polish, didn't bother to fix it. While I was waiting for my friend she never said thank you or acknowledged my presence.. Which is RUDE. Never again.. The spa needs to hire new people that is for sure. However, the spa is beautiful on the inside. But the people make it look ugly read more

Went here today with my wife for a 50 minute couple's massage. It was a birthday present for me, but my wife wanted to join me as well. The spa is located on the 16th floor of the Sheraton. The ambiance is great, very clean and modern looking. Everything revolves around the ice theme. We went to separate changing rooms. Inside the men's room, I found a flat screen tv, a sofa, a steam/rain shower, robes, towels, slippers, shaving cream, hair gel, along with other various items. I also couldn't help but notice the amazing views of Anchorage. After changing, we were introduced to our massage therapists. They brought us to a couple's massage room which was immaculate. For 50 minutes we were treated to the best massages either of us has received. Afterward, we were given strawberries and whipped cream. My wife selected a martini from their list and I was given a complimentary glass of white wine. Ended up staying for a long time after the massage enjoying the fireplace and great views of the city. The staff here is extremely friendly. Made us both feel very welcome. I will definitely go here again. read more

This is a beautiful spa atop the Sheraton Hotel with great views. You can obtain a parking pass at the hotel front desk so that you can park for free if receiving a spa treatment. I've booked multiple treatments - massages, pedi's and mani's, facial, and hair cuts. The customer service has always been professional, from scheduling to check in to receiving treatments. The pedi's and mani's cost more than what you'd find in the shopping mall but it's worth it. Unlike the cheaper places, you're not rushed in and out like cattle and there is no powerful chemical smell in the air. In my opinion, it's not a good sign when the nail technicians wear disposable face masks. In stark contrast, the ambiance at the Ice Spa is peaceful with soft, relaxing spa music in the background. I usually arrive early so I can hang out in the 'relaxation lounge' before my scheduled treatment. The relaxation lounge is comfy, with a stone fireplace in the center, magazines, light snacks (trail mix, fruit) and ice cold water infused water (lemon or cucumber). I always feel pampered and spoiled when I go to the Ice Spa. It's a hidden gem in downtown Anchorage. read more
