I was trying to find a new salon to get my hair cut and this place had very good reviews, but please be careful because I had an awful experience. All I wanted was a trim for my hair, but the lady sat me down and brushed my hair l, didn't even part it and cut it dry. She said that she was going to cut the rest after she washed me. For reference I have very frizzy hair when you brush out the curls. Well she washed my hair and then dryed it and didn't even attempt to cut my hair even. It is significantly longer on one side and super lopsided. Don't recommend. read more

I asked for a mushroom balayage with Lindsey, the haircut was great and she was very sweet but I didn't love the coloring job she did.. I ended up being blondish and light, when I wanted mushroom/cooler tones. The day after I left, I touched base with the owner (Kari) who was super understanding and down to earth. She asked me if she could look at my hair and try to achieve a better end result, and got me in the earliest appointment she could! I REALLY loved how Kari did my hair, she smoothed out the transition and toned it to a more natural color, while also being honest about a true ''mushroom look" being hard to maintain for my hair type. It wasn't great having to go back, but I really appreciated the time Kari spent with me and her commitment to customer service. I had also asked if she would give my hair stylist for my wedding (coming up in a month) a call, just so I could make sure nothing more damaging happened to my hair. We were on the phone for about twenty minutes just making sure I was comfortable and my wedding hair stylist got to ask about products and techniques that made me feel really confident in what we were about to do. I'm from out of town and needed a haircut badly. I didn't know where to go and after checking a few reviews, decided on Salon Poppy. Let me just say, they did not disappoint! The vibe of the salon is welcoming. And as someone who can get a little social anxiety, I really didn't feel any at all. It's a great ambience with just a good vibe all around. The chica working the front was nice, welcoming and prompt. Now for the best part, Mikayla, aka the MVP of the whole experience. This woman? A hair whisperer. I told her what I wanted (which honestly wasn't that exciting because I'm basic), and she still made magic happen. Plus, she actually explained everything like a pro and didn't make me feel dumb. The woman knows what she's doing! I did not specifically ask for her but the hair gods picked her and I'm glad they did. If I lived in Anchorage, this would hands down be my go to place. 10/10 would recommend, 5 stars all around. read more

Stopped in over the weekend for a cut w Madora and was thrilled with the results! I called the morning of and as luck would have it a cancellation let me snag an appointment that same day at this convenient little salon just around the corner from my apt. I'd been frustrated with my hair being a little long over the past few weeks as well as pretty flat. Madora listened to all my issues and tailored her service to exactly what I wanted. She also made some recommendations for how to get me more volume in my look. She was friendly and professional and I am so happy w my new cut! Post-cut, she also gave me some pointers about how to get a beachy/wavy look to change things up once in a while --- something I've tried and failed to master in the past. The interior was adorable too - an intimate little salon with the nicest staff. I will most definitely be back as this is now my go to spot! read more

I have been seeing Willow Bailey for haircuts and colors. It is mostly cuts-only now but I can justify that she does all walk of colors. From natural colors to bright pastels- she has done them on me. I'm also Deaf so Willow really worked things out by consulting with me on text and making sure I walk out of the salon happy. There was one point when we both didn't get the "color melt" correct from going blond to lavender- she asked me to come back on my most convenient time to fix it, free of charge. (This should be the cue that she takes her work seriously) It has taken me some time to build this trust enough to just sit on the chair and tell her to just clean it up and ignore how much she cuts. Called this business solely to find out if they carried a product that my normal salon didn't have in stock. Kari answered and let me know that she would check and call me back. A few minutes later she told me she was out but that she was driving around town and would deliver it to me as she was buying products anyway. My need for this product was kind of dire as I'm getting ready to go on vacation and her driving to my work was so helpful. Honestly some of the best customer service I've ever seen. I first got my haircut here about two weeks ago, then made a last minute appointment after I was unhappy with an at-home dye job. Kristin did both my haircut then refined my hair color. I loved my haircut I received! Perfect amount of funky and functional. Secondly, coming in feeling so stupid and uncomfortable with my at home hair color, I was put at ease that it wasn't at all as bad as I thought. Kristin toned down what I saw as an unnatural color.
