    Keiki (kids) meal
    Till W.

STIX Asia is such a cool place. You go down to what feels like the basement level that leads you to a cool line of restaurants, like you've uncovered a secret area. HK Cafe is one of the restaurants on that list. I had wanted to come here for dim sum, but opted for the wonton noodle soup instead. It was a decent portion and I was very satisfied. There were 3 keiki (kids) options and it was a nice size as well! We ordered the chicken nuggets/wings/fries/rice set from the keiki list for our younger son. For dessert, my husband and I shared the leaking milk dessert which is like two French toasts with milk oozing out when you take your first fork stab in it.

Comfort food to the rescue! After days of American food we needed some Asian comfort food Hong Kong Style! HK Cafe never fails with their spot on Cantonese flavors. Today, we had the beef chow fun which had really good flavor and the blend of sprouts, green onions and beef! Next was the chicken wings with a mix of spices! To top it off with the Hong Kong honey tea was the perfect comfort meal just like in the real Hong Kong! Service was quick & attentive and the ambiance was a chill and casual vibe! Fun cafe!

This is a popular branch with its original location located in Honolulu Chinatown. This location is inside STIX Asia in Waikiki (formerly Waikiki Yokocho). It seems to be one of the busiest restaurant as well. I've had the steamed spare ribs with black bean as well as the pork fried rice just for a good measure for a restaurant that billed itself as a Hong Kong Cafe. Give me "wok hei" fried rice! and see if you're truly Hong Kong style. While the spare ribs with the black bean sauce was pretty bad, the fried rice was good and I could tasted the little "wok hei" albeit not enough. But I could tasted it. I will show up again soon and will give them another test with another Cantonese classics : Beef Chow Fun How "wok hei" can you go?

The beef was perfectly tender, and the soup was creamy and spicy. At first the soup wasn't very spicy - but the spice grows on you over time! I wish I could just order a whole dish of the beef itself cuz it was cooked so perfectly, and was a beautiful flavor. Would absolutely come here again! Staff was nice as well.

I got sick on our trip to Hawaii and wanted something soupy. I found HK Cafe walking back from the drug store. It was the best find ever. I ordered the braised beef noodle soup. It was so good and brought back memories of Asian cafes in California. It is small place within a food court. There was one server and presumably a cook/chef in the back. I liked how it was quieter than some of the other restaurants in the area.

Excellent service-polite waitress, fast, all condiments provided, cooked HK style (Cantonese), large servings, tasty like home town cooking. Very clean. Ordered stir fry shrimp w western broccoli, steamed rice, steamed shrimp dumplings (4), satay beef chow funn, hot tea. Directions:-on Kalakaua Ave, look for Stix sign in red neon, Asian Food Hall, in red neon sign, descend escalator, HK Cafe is on immediate right. Google maps took us down side street with entry to another food court. Will happily return. Slightly expensive but portions are large, enough for two meals for me. My son gobbled up all his dishes!

I honestly thought the HK French toast was the best I've eaten and I had many French toast in my life. The savory dishes were great too and the presentation was also great. I think it's overall better than NYC, LA, SF, Chicago, Seattle cha chaan teng, or even HK. It's such a shame in our 4 day vacation in Hawaii, it completely boarded up and closed when we tried to return on the 2nd time and last day of our trip. We were so shocked.

I was hungry in Waikiki and found this place inside STIX Asia. Service was lightning fast even if there's only one server on that Wednesday evening, Jiayu. Despite being alone, she was attentive to everyone dining yet was very efficient and quick. Food is great. Singapore rice noodles were awesome. Shrimp and pork dumplings were soo flavorful. I recommend this place for their yummy food, great service and very casual relaxed atmosphere. Giving this a 5/5!

I had a mediocre experience at Stix Asia, the food hall on Kalākaua and I vowed to return. I believe HK Cafe opened up since I visited last time in March, 2023. They serve hearty Cantonese food in a casual setting. I had the char siu omelette. HK also has a beef or shrimp version. The char siu was moist & tender, and it was a large portion. I was full even though I didn't eat all the rice. HTC had the beef brisket noodle soup and enjoyed it. She said the beef was tender, and the portion was large. Our waitress was super nice & friendly, and helpful with the menu. I look forward to returning to try some other dishes like chicken wings and Singapore rice noodle.

Positives: it's in Stix. We love Stix. Validated parking nights and weekends. Lots of menu options Kamaaina discount! Large shrimp in the curry laksa Large portion of noodles Love their chili oil it's spicy and very tasty Negatives: a bit pricey for what you get, and the flavor of the curry was very light, almost bland. For being what they're known for, I wanted to be more wowed. I would definitely come back to try more things and would come back just for the chili oil!

Our meal tonight was just okay; the food tasted different from when I came here in July 2023 and I suspected it's a different chef. I remember the stir fry noodles with bean sprouts and shredded pork was so good back in July and I was looking forward to eating it again, but what I had tonight was almost a completely different dish. First the toppings were cut in such big chunks. They should be thinly sliced and kinda blend into the noodles so each chopstick-ful should have a good proportion of everything. That's clearly not the case. I was eating the noodles separately from the toppings. Second, this dish isn't supposed to look dark. Typically not much soy sauce is involved. The gravy should've been clear and whitish using chicken broth and corn starch as a thickener. Third, the noodles were not fried crispy enough. I was so disappointed how different this tasted tonight compared to what I had just 5 months ago. Fourth, the shredded pork should have a silky texture to it from being marinated a certain way that I myself can't do at home. I feel like I can make this stir fry noodle better myself so what's the point to eat out. The soup noodles looked and tasted almost like the stir fry noodle dish, but it should be different. The broth shouldn't be soy sauce color either and there wasn't enough depth, almost like water with salt. And same problem - all the toppings were cut to big chunks. And they used the same pork like the stir fry noodles. The only saving grace was the chicken wings. They're still amazing! That's the main reason why we came here! It's the first time for us trying the beef fried rice too and that was good too, although I'm not sure why it's soy sauce again. At least that was enjoyable. Seems like all the dishes we ordered were heavily soy-sauce-based and it's not supposed to be like this. Our meal tonight was definitely not the standard of HK food. This might be able to satisfy a non Cantonese person, but it probably wouldn't fly with a person who's familiar with Cantonese especially Hong Kong food. I'll give this place a try again maybe in a few months, or go to their Chinatown location instead.

A little hard to find, but well worth it. Food was amazing and the service was outstanding

Chu Hou Beef Brisket & Beef Tendon w/ Rice
    Ruby S.

Quaint ambience of customers deciding whether to dine in or take out. Stop by before 6 pm for more options with seats. Limited seating capacity is under 25 people. There's only one male worker that served as host or greeter and server. He accommodated our requests despite dinner rush from dine in patrons and multiple in-person take out orders. All dishes were served piping hot! Singapore Rice Noodles: Sampled with pair of chopsticks from my husband's dish. My first impression was a robust, curry flavor. He certainly enjoyed and finished his entire meal. Chu Hou Beef Brisket & Beef Tendon w/ Rice: I didn't taste this dish. My son enjoyed the flavorful beef brisket, beef tendon minus the fat, and rice. House Special Fried Chicken Wings or HSFCW 6 pcs: Fried to perfection. Not oily. No signs of excess oil. Definitely not spicy. Tasty, very moist and succulent. Coating remained intact with chicken. Shredded cabbage came in handy with cleansing palate in between bites. Ideal appetizer paired with an alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverage of your choice. Hubby and I shared this appetizer together. We agreed it's on higher end in cost. Worth spending the money. Szechuan Style Pickle with Sliced Pork Noodle Soup: Select your choice of thick noodles, thin noodles, or egg noodles. Thin noodles will be served by default with your dish if a certain type of noodle is not selected. Clean, mild tasting broth integrated exceptionally well with oyster sauce. Generous servings of moist, tender and succulent pork served with strips of pickles, sliced red peppers, green bell peppers, onions, and green onions. Loved how the al dente thin noodles withstood piping hot broth from start to end. Especially loved how the pickles and veggies enhanced the broth! Located in Stix Asia with entrance closest to Kalākaua Ave. Would love to return and try other noodle soups, appetizers and desserts.

Cake Noodle Fact: Cake noodles aren't "cake" in the dessert sense (tragic, I know). "Cake" refers…read moreto the noodle being pressed into a round, compact disk before it's pan-fried, which is exactly how you get that crispy-meets-soft texture moment. And yes, now I will absolutely be thinking about them often. If you think you know cake noodles because you've had Cantonese noodles before, Lee Ho Fook in Honolulu's Chinatown is here to humble you. I was definitely humbled. Tucked along the canal in Chinatown, Lee Ho Fook Restaurant is one of those cozy little neighborhood spots where the tables are close, the room is snug, and the noodles do all the talking. My Honolulu homies, twinsie "Auntie" Nadine C. and Cycle Buddy Randy S., brought me here for noodles and I'm eternally grateful they did. We ordered the Minute Chicken Cake Noodles, tossed noodles with choi sum and won ton, plus a side of ong choy. Every plate understood the assignment. As an Arizona girl, I had never had minute chicken or cake noodles before and fully assumed they'd be in the same lane as Cantonese noodles. Yelpers, I was wrong. Delightfully wrong. Cake noodles are a Cantonese classic but the magic is all in the texture: pan-fried until golden and crisp on the outside, while the center stays soft enough to soak up all that glossy savory sauce. It's the best of both noodle worlds - crispy and chewy. A true textural delight. The Minute Chicken Cake Noodles were the star for me. That contrast between the crispy edges and soft middle was wildly satisfying, and the chicken was silky, savory, and exactly the kind of comfort food that makes you stop mid-bite just to appreciate what's happening. The tossed noodles with choi sum and won ton were equally comforting in a more classic, no-fuss way, and the ong choy was the perfect green side dish that was garlicky, fresh, and necessary. Lee Ho Fook is small, comforting, and exactly the kind of place you want when what you really need is a bowl of something delicious and humble. Come hungry, bring a few friends, and order the cake noodles.
