Overall Rating: 3.5 We love Korean and Hawaiian food, and we were happy to see Topped was a short walk from our hotel. Walking up to the window to order was easy and service was pretty efficient. There are several outside tables to eat at if not taking home or back to your hotel. The main reason for the rating was that the food quality was a little lower that expected compared with other restaurants at their price point. We tried Topped twice in case the first time was just an off night, but in both cases, we found the beef in their beef & butter rice dish to be overly salty and not very tender, and the added egg was overcooked. The spicy pork bowl had better flavor but was over sauced for our palate. The shoyu chicken was also a bit dry.
Foos (4/5): Got the spicy pork topped with egg. Overall solid and delicious but some of the pork was a bit tougher. Service (4/5): You order from the cashier and then pick up from a designated area. Food came out fast and no issues. They gave cold water cups. Ambiance (4/4): Chill outdoor vibes with a decent amount of seating.
We were so disappointed because of the great reviews. The pictures at the counter menu is different than what they serve. The meals now come with a salad drenched in honey mustard. My wife enjoyed her Kalbi Steak, and the soft eggs were cooked perfectly in all our dishes, however the rest of our dishes were drowned in sesame oil and honey mustard! Both the Beef & Butter, and the Shoyu Chicken were tender, but unfortunately the flavor was drowned out. I do not understand these joints that drench sauces all over their dishes! It wasn't even busy when we came. We enjoyed the chill music & vibes with the outdoor dining on the street side. They just need to take it easy on the sauces. FYI: There is no restroom.
Came back two days in a row just for the fresh pinapple smoothie. It was like dole whip in a straw. The dude at the register gave us samples and we were hooked. Even after he gave us the drinks he still gave us another cup with more Pineapple smoothie hahah! 10/10 shakas
11:45pm on our first night on Oahu after weeks of island hopping when we wound up here which was a blessing! The owner was amazing! He and those working were so gracious preparing one of us a snowcone after checking to see that some had frozen after running out earlier and it was out of this world -old school perfect crunchy with delicious strawberry flavoring. Also gracious enough to prepare the best glass noodles we've had anywhere-crunchy fresh carrot strips and cabbage with perfectly cheesy seasoned glass noodles. The Tteokbokki was perfect as he tailored spice level to our preference which isn't super hot lol. We are writing this after five days on this island and we still haven't found better food or all around better and kinder service than this little treasure.
Can't speak to ambiance or service since I didn't dine in. Another DoorDash order but super awesome plate of food. Got the Tofu Bibimbap with a side of Kalbi. What a winning choice. Food was awesome, everything tasted great. The tofu bibimbap was cheaper than the others but with the side of Kalbi made it around the same price so that was worth it. A little spicy but that's okay. Lots of food, could've been two meals but scarfed it all down in one sitting lol.
You just order at the counter and it took 5 minutes to get my food. The beef is so tender. I thought the bowls came with pickled onions and sauces but this was just beef, an egg, rice and lettuce with dressing. I would make sure to ask what comes on top as their menu isn't very descriptive. It may be extra for sauces. They only have outdoor seating
I was sooooo sad when visiting here yesterday. They used to have wonderful quality kalbi, this is no longer the case. I couldn't even eat it, and I used to come here for lunch regularly for years. They added mandoo to the menu, which was actually really tasty so for that they get an extra star, but please go back to your old kalbi recipe because whatever you served me yesterday was offensive
Topped serves delicious traditional Korean food. They have a small patio with seating available. They do not accept reservations, so if you want to grab a seat then you may need to wait. They have a lot of options and no matter what you choose, you should be happy.
Quick to go outdoor spot for a late night flight in on this first eats of Oahu trip. Portions were larger than I expected for a 10pm late late dinner and also had a korean paste spicyness I wasn't expecting. It was really good even though I was really hungry. I'd suggest getting a drink here or some where to help with that kick if you aren't used to it. The food was made quick for to go too and you appreciate that for a late night grub. I initially had trouble looking for it so be sure to peek the outdoor photos to get a sense of what you're looking for.
Food was awesome, affordable korean food that taste good. Staffs were nice to everyone even some people just asked questions about another stuff. I personally want to recommend. They have tables and chairs so you can eat or take it back to the hotel to eat.
This place actually serves "Authentic" shaved iced, not snow cones like other establishments! Also the owner is super genuine and friendly! Check this place out, best shaved ice in Honolulu (also Tulsa lol)

Good service and cute little place to stop to grab a drink or a snack. I'll try their japchae when I'm back in a few weeks. I wanted to this time, but I was too full each time I passed by lol. Prices are fair and it's right across the street from a pink line stop. read more
I was craving some quick Korean food and decided to do a pick-up order here. I got the kalbi bowl, and honestly... it was just meh. The meat was super soft, almost like there was a lot of baking soda used. Instead of that nice tender bite you expect from kalbi, it was more mushy and overly soft, which kind of threw me off. On top of that, the service wasn't great. When we walked up to the pick up window, the guy preparing the food didn't acknowledge us at all. We figured he might be busy, so we didn't think much of it at first. But even after that, he was still facing us while scooping rice and restocking the rice cooker and still didn't say anything. When he finally did acknowledge us, it was just a quick "name?" and then he kind of just tossed the bag onto the table. It honestly didn't feel very welcoming or like the kind of Hawaiian hospitality you'd expect. Overall, the food was okay at best, and the experience definitely didn't make me want to come back. read more
Topped Waikiki is a solid choice for a bite to eat in Waikiki! It's a little corner kitchen where you order want you want at a window and take it to go or eat at the handful of tables and chairs they have on the patio. The service is quick and the staff polite. I ordered the shoyu chicken with a soft-boiled egg on top and a frozen strawberry smoothie. It was very filling and quite delicious. The frozen smoothie was especially refreshing! I was looking forward to trying out Topped based on their reviews, and not to mention they proclaim to serve the "best Korean food in Waikiki." However, I was disappointed with my overall experience. The husband and I ordered the Kalbi Steak & Egg Bowl in which food came out quickly. Food was okay and everything tasted fine, but it wasn't memorable and I certainly wouldn't say it was "the best." Portion sizes are decent, prices were a bit steep, and there is limited outdoor seating. The staff also wasn't particularly welcoming or friendly. All in all, it is an okay spot to grab Korean food if you are in the area, but for what you are paying here, you can certainly get something better elsewhere. read more

Topped Waikiki is a super fun place in Waikiki for grubbin' on some seriously loaded dishes. Their signature Korean bibimbap and fries are stacked high with tasty toppings that'll make your taste buds do a happy dance. If you're lookin' for some next-level comfort food, this spot's got you covered. Go check it out for a good time and some epic eats! I grabbed a quick bite to eat with my husband before heading to watch the Friday night fireworks. There was only one girl working and making the food, but it wasn't too busy so the wait was not too bad. The beef bowl was yummy and I devoured it pretty fast! Happy eating! read more
Highly recommended! This little shop is located very conveniently and it is hard to miss because it is very colorful. My husband chose the chicken mayo and I chose the dupbap. They were both pretty good! The girl that took our order was super friendly! There are a few tables and chairs available though only some of them have shade. The food here is very affordable, compared to all the food places around it. Highly recommend it! read more

1/7/23 It saddens me that I have to give this place 1 star because the pictures looked so good, but that expectation was crushed when Zach and I stopped by to get a quick bite for dinner. There was a handful of people waiting when we got there. It's a small menu and you order at a window. There is some outdoor seating. When your order is ready, there will be an automated message that tells you your order number and to pick up your meal. Upon check-in, you can get a free miso soup or drink. Here's what we got: 1. Organic tofu bibimbap set with a miso soup and kimchi. 2. Chicken mayo bibimbap (mine) + free miso soup with check in The food took about 25 minutes to be ready for pick up. They messed up the order because they forgot to include the miso soup with Zach's meal. The chicken and egg is good in taste but it was all drenched in mayonnaise. I enjoy mayo once in a while, but the amount they put in this single bowl was more than what I would eat in a year. Zach was also unhappy with his meal. He described it as "a bland tofu salad covered with sriracha". He had to force himself to finish his bowl. I couldn't finish mine at all due to the mayo overload. I could only tolerate a handful of bites before I started to feel sick. Zach did comment that the kimchi was okay, but it was very sad-looking. Even the miso soup was pretty abysmal... it would be more accurate to call it a cup of miso. Overall, the experience we had with Topped Waikiki was not good at all. We waited almost 30 minutes for unpleasant tasting food. We gave this place a chance and it was a fail. Best to skip this spot as there are definitely better spots to get food. read more

Oh my gosh! The food was divine! It's truly a hole in the wall kind of place. I can't believe its name TOPPED too but the food was delectable! Even at night it was so fresh. I can't recommend this enough. The service was fast too but mind the outside seating, sometimes they get too busy and don't clean the tables. Other than that you're really there for the food anyways. this place went downhill, food quality used to be good & prices were fair before. However, my most recent visit was met with bad service & an uninviting ambiance. They don't offer any kamaaina discounts & the bowls are really small and not worth the price. I ended up paying $18.85 for a single shallow bowl/plate of bibimbap that wasn't even that good. You're better off buying kimchi from palama market down the street then buying a plate lunch from L&L, it's way cheaper & essentially the same food read more

Since my family was full from drinking boba, hubby said we should just order 1 entree for both kids to share. I ended up ordering the shoyu chicken, which comes with rice and a soft boiled egg. I thought the chicken was quite bland and my son said the egg tasted weird (maybe the lack of salt). No vegetables were given. I'm not quite sure why this place has such high reviews. read more

I stopped by for a late night meal and ordered a couple of their popular dishes: the Kalbi Steak and Egg and the Beef and Butter Rice. I also checked in on Yelp for the free miso soup offer. The service was unfriendly throughout my visit. Upon receiving our food, I noticed the miso soup was missing so I kindly let them know. They filled up a tiny cup halfway and gave it to me. I proceeded to notice a few missing ingredients for the Beef and Butter Rice plate. I didn't bother asking about it. The food itself was pretty good, but I felt that they skimped on the portions relative to the menu pictures. After learning that another review mentioned this same exact scenario, I decided that I won't be recommending this place to anyone nor returning. read more
