It can be surprisingly hard to find really good mango drinks and treats in Hawaii when it's not mango season, so this place was exactly what I was looking for. My boyfriend ordered the mango strawberry smoothie, and I got the special mango juice smoothie with added rice balls because I was craving something similar to mango sticky rice. I was a little hesitant at first because the special mango juice smoothie comes with sago, which I had never tried before, but it ended up being delicious. The smoothie was fresh, sweet, and incredibly refreshing. The rice balls were the perfect addition and completely satisfied my mango sticky rice craving. The staff were super kind and patient, answering all of our questions and helping us decide what to order. There is also plenty of seating both inside and outside, making it a great place to sit and enjoy your dessert. I loved it so much that we went back twice in one week. A friend recommended this place, so we stopped by after work on a Tuesday. There was no line and our drinks came out super fast. I almost ordered at the kiosk, but the staff encouraged us to order with them instead and they were really friendly and personable. I have seen Mango Mango at the mall many times and it always looks busy, but after trying it I think it is worth the wait. I ordered the strawberry mango smoothie and loved that it was not overly sweet. It tasted like real fruit and was perfectly refreshing after a long day. As a kid, I used to subscribe to the notion that there's always room for dessert. Sadly, though, despite how the cravings for dessert were still just as strong, our appetite just didn't feel like it could keep up. Either that or our stomachs were still ridiculously full from the heavy lunch we had just finished. However, in defense of our poor planning, we weren't expecting to come across a Mango Mango either! Otherwise, if we did, we definitely saved room to come here! With locations sprinkled throughout the US, yet somehow without a single one in California, my gf had heard about Mango Mango several times from some of her friends in New York. So, when we happened to stumble across this one on the third floor of Ala Moana, we almost felt compelled to stop in. Inside, the place isn't all that large, but the decor is cute and makes for a perfect spot to take a cool break from your retail shopping adventures. As for the menu, unsurprisingly, mangos are the name of the game here, but there's plenty of variety and alternatives to choose from among their many smoothies, fruit teas, milk tea, hot teas, desserts, pastries, sundaes, and waffles. Since there weren't any seats/tables available inside, we opted to just get a drink and settled on their COCONUT MANGO SMOOTHIE-O ($7.95) with Pomelo (+$2) to share. Now, I don't know if it was due to the taste and/or acidity of the pomelo, but the taste of mango in this wasn't as strong as I thought it would've been, especially given how the drink looked. That said, it still had a decent punch of mango to it (they also sprinkle some pieces of it on top) and I liked how well the coconut and the slight tartness of the pomelo worked together. Plus, I loved how deliciously smooth and creamy this was, which felt so cool and refreshing on such a warm day. So good! As much as I enjoyed our smoothie, I will said it also only made me feel that much worse for not getting a second drink to try. Even as we were punching in our order at their kiosk, part of me was second-guessing whether to just get one. Ugh...this is what we get for trying to be sensible while on vacation! I guess we'll just have to make a point of coming back again so that we can correct our terrible mistake and also try one of Mango Mango's desserts. Here is a place that we stop but at least every other week if not every week. I can say that we have tried almost all deserts by mango and all were great. Sometimes mangos are not ripe enough but understandable it's not possible year around. Recommend to try at least once. Mangos are the bees knees. Of course you have to stop into a spot called Mango Mango. There is a screen to place your own order when in line or they can do it for you. Smoothies, bowls, ice cream scoops, several options and it is easy to order and pay (card only if self service). Mango Mango is a cute and convenient dessert shop in Ala Moana, and as someone who loves everything rose flavored, the drink portion of their Blush Rose Bubble Milk Tea gets an instant 5 stars from me. The rose milk tea has a satisfyingly floral taste, and it is the perfect sweetness for me when ordered at 50% sugar level. Rose milk tea is rare at boba shops these days, and this is my favorite out of the ones I've tried recently! However, I do find the boba here a little disappointing. The texture is usually consistent and on the softer side (which I personally like, but it is subjective), but it has very little flavor. I guess that's not an entirely bad thing when paired with good drinks, but it is a bit unsatisfying in my opinion. Other drinks I've tried have been hit or miss. It is very clear that mango (and other fruit) drinks are their specialty, because I've tried a few of their various mango smoothies and they are all delicious! However, my friend tried their Matcha Brûlée Bubble Milk Tea, and we agreed that the quality of their matcha was disappointing. Additionally, their prices are slightly high for a casual dessert cafe; most items are around $10, which isn't unreasonable, but I personally think there are several other dessert options in Ala Moana that offer better deals. May I suggest having it move somewhere else...it doesn't look appealing and the table to the dirty dishes also needs some attention... We ordered the Watermelon Smoothie. This is sooo refreshingly delicious and a great way to really cool off!! The watermelon is perfectly sweet or sweetened. A must have!!! We also ordered the Strawberry Mango Juice Sago & Lychee Jelly with Mango Ice Cream. This is a great combination in one glass bowl. The mangoes are ripe and sweet. We always pass this place when we're at the mall and it never dawned on us to try it out because the line was always long and it was crowded inside. There was no line today, Sunday, and it wasn't crowded so we went in. The staff isn't the most personable or friendliest, and I just passed that off as cultural differences. You order at a little kiosk inside or at the register that's right next to it, a little confusing for first timers. I saw they have a rewards program, so I quickly signed up for it and it gives a free mango smoothie with order as a welcome gift. My daughter didn't want anything until I mentioned that, but she wanted it with boba. I got the green tea latte brûlée I think and it tasted amazing. I love mango and I was thirsty from the heat and all the shopping. It was the cute store front that caught my eye. So I couldn't resist but walk in to order a coco mango smoothie. The drink was sweet and tasted just like a mango with a hint of coconut flavor. But the tiny bits of mango garnished onto of the drink were a bit tart. These drinks are more expensive than other boba and dessert places. They range from $8 to almost $10 depending on what you order. Mine was one of the more basic drinks so it was $7.95 plus tax. My overall assessment is 4 stars for the quality but 3 stars for the prices. read more
