Stayed here over the past week for a wedding. Chose this hotel because it was on the cheaper end and close to the wedding venue.
Got to the hotel early and was informed we couldn't check in till 3. Totally understandable, went and grabbed some food while we waited. Came back a little before 3 and room wasn't ready yet, so we just waited. Room was finally ready around 3:30. Walked us to our room and it was the very last room in the very back of the resort facing the parking lot. Obviously wasn't happy about that, but we did order a garden view, so I guess that's what it was. That was the least of our issues with this room.
Got in our room, used the bathroom and couldn't flush the toilet. Turned on the faucet and no water. Tried to turn on the lights and no lights. Apparently this building had just been reopened after being shut down due to a storm. We were informed it would be 2 hours before we would have water and while they were able to turn the lights on, they kept flickering on and off. They thankfully moved us to another room with a better view since we both needed to get ready for wedding festivities in an hour.
Some other issues I had with my stay:
No hot water. I believe our building (4 units) shared a water heater, so depending on when you took a shower, there was no hot water. We got hot water about 10% of the time and the water was colder than the ocean. This was probably the most disappointing part of the trip, the last thing you want to do coming back from a late night is take a cold shower. Hot showers were more common in the morning.
Only give you two beach towels per room, and no towels at the beach, so if you want to lay on a beach towel and have a different towel to dry off with, that's not an option, you'll have to use the same towel.
Drinks and even shots are watered down. However this is consistent around all of Tulum. A brand new "unopened" bottle of Patron froze in our friend's freezer (not from the hotel), so if you want a nice buzz you'll have to buy 10 drinks at $15 each.
Rooms are pretty noisy due to the grass roof, but that goes with the vibe so expected. You can hear music from nearby clubs/restaurants till 7am, and birds for the rest of the morning.
Beds are very comfortable but their pillows were way too hard for us.
There were men on the resort hanging out near the restaurant and bathrooms trying to sell cocaine. Literally asked us 5 times within an hour. Noticed some other men they were with were sitting on the hotel's lounge chairs. I know this is normal for Mexico, but they aren't usually on resort grounds. Definitely made me feel less safe.
The vibe is very nice and a beautiful location. the resort is very pretty and the view from the room was so relaxing. Loved the hammock. Staff was very friendly and super accommodating when we had an issue with our first room.
I don't know if I'd stay here again. I think if you're looking for something more affordable and don't mind the inconsistency with the water temperature then I think this is a nice resort. But I'd probably shell out an extra $300/night to stay at a little nicer resort with better amenities. read more
