My boyfriend and I stayed here during a 6 day trip to Tulum. We previously stayed on la playa (the beach) at Piedra Escondida but wanted to save some money and experience el Pueblo (the town) later in our trip and spent 2 nights here. This is conveniently located between the beach and the town. It is close to a 7-11, Pemex (my recommended stop for gas, ice, snacks, etc), and the best currency exchange we found in the area (just south of the hotel on the road to the beach). It was affordable at our booking, under $100 US at low season in early May.
Check in was easy. The rooms are clean and very new. Bike rentals are free. Bikes looked in decent condition. Parking is available across the street and the front desk attendant said they had a security guard, although I never saw one. There is a pool, but as others have mentioned it is quite cold as it doesn't get much sun during the day. We both got in after a long day at Coba Ruinas and were grateful for the cool water, but many patrons just laid outside the pool to enjoy the view.
Free breakfast is included. It wasn't bad, but of all the free breakfasts I had in Mexico it was the most underwhelming. Scrambled eggs, hash browns, retried beans, pancakes, yogurt, fresh fruit, toast, water and orange juice. It reminded me of the free breakfasts in America that are just meh. But it was free and it was fresh. 8am- 11am.
AC works 24/7 which is a huge perk to what we had on the beach. It was also super cold and worked really well even though we were on the 2nd floor. No elevator, it's Mexico so no disappointment but good for others to know.
They offered 2 free water bottles in our room, but never replenished them. Free water is available in the lobby.
Shower was hot and probably the closest we had to "Fresh water" in tulum. Beach side is all salt water showers.
There is construction happening behind the hotel that is not a part of the hotel. The hotel can't control it and it isn't their fault. Construction happened from maybe 7:30am until maybe 5pm. We were out all day adventuring so it wasn't an issue and I think the prices are reflective of the construction issue.
The bed was really hard and the coverlet was pretty scratchy and kinda crap.
Checkout was easy, but this is the only place we stayed that insisted on checking the room while we waited in the lobby before we departed. It was pretty quick and not a big issue, but just weird as I've never had a hotel do that.
If you stay here, do check out Taco Honorio before 1pm. Best tacos we had in Tulum and in walking distance! read more
