Beautiful resort. The first thing I noticed is how extremely clean and well kept the ground is. There are constantly multiple people wiping things down, disinfecting, sweeping, just tidying up. We spent one night in a rooftop room and it was SO relaxing and pleasant! The views are amazing and we loved our room with a coffee pot, huge tub in the bathroom (and on the roof!), and comfortable bed and pillows. The service is the most standout, though. I cannot remember everyone's name, but Javier, Tania, Alejandro, and others were amazing. The communication through WhatsApp is very easy. They even brought up a bag of ice at 11pm for my boyfriends twisted ankle. Very sweet and considerate. I'd also like to note that as someone who speaks a decent bit of Spanish but isn't fluent, the staff is very good with English. If I ever come back to Tulum I would definitely stay here! read more

My husband and I enjoyed our first few days as husband and wife at The Beach Tulum and we are already talking about booking again next year. This adorable boutique hotel puts guest experience on the forefront, focusing on even the smallest details to create a wonderful and personalized stay. The entire staff was friendly, polite, and so very helpful. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Uli and Barbara, who had both been in touch via email and WhatsApp in the week and days prior to arrival to ensure we had everything we needed set up to make it an unforgettable stay. They helped us pre-book a sunset couples massage (which was amazing!). After we checked in, Uli gave us a tour of the property, the neighboring restaurants (Ziggy's and Fresco's) and then finally our room. Our room was immaculate and so beautifully decorated. We opted for the Junior Suite (direct beach view and access + plunge pool) and it was perfect! The plunge pool was always very warm and we had our own reserved beach bed (enough room for 2) just steps away from the sliding glass back door of our room. There were beautiful views of the ocean from any point in the room and outside deck. The beach is also very private and monitored by security (who were all super friendly and even helped us spot a couple of osprey sitting atop of the hotel roof on our last day there). There is also full bar service on the beach, with a simple text via Whatsapp, you could have whatever drink you wanted delivered right to you. We were also presented with a complimentary welcome beverage when we first checked in (a pineapple + mezcal drink that was delicious!). Now back to our room. The staff knew it was our honeymoon and had decorated the bed with rose petals and had left us a very sweet card + a bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate. The room had a very powerful, temperature customizable AC unit + fan directly above the bed which kept us nice and cool at night. The bathroom was spacious and had a great soaking tub (enough room for 2) and a rain shower. On top of the amazing room, the hotel boasts 2 of the best restaurants in the area. Seriously - we are big Yelp fans and both Ziggy's and Fresco's rated as the top 2 spots in the area. During your stay, the hotel provides complimentary breakfast at both restaurants. We tried breakfast at both and loved our meals. We also ate at Ziggy's our first night there and the dinner was also amazing! Lastly, the location is ideal. Very close to all of the exciting restaurants, shops, and nightlife spots and even very close to a nearby cenote (about a 5 min walk). The hotel provides free bikes and we biked all across town and also went over to check out the Tulum ruins. Our last 2 days at the hotel, we walked on the beach and looked at all of the other resorts. The Beach Tulum by far has the most serene and private beach, but also the best looking resort presence. It is well-manicured and provided both sun and shade thanks to its beautiful palm trees sprawling the beach. All in all, we were very sad to leave The Beach Tulum this past Saturday. We have now found the perfect slice of heaven in Tulum and can't wait to come back! read more

I am going to use the word amazing a lot in this review. The hotel was amazing. I have stayed in 5 star boutique and larger hotels all over the world and this one rates right in the top few. Just the right boutique size, adults only and quiet. Even with a beach club next door the only time I heard the music was when laying on our own beach bed on the sand. The rooms were perfect size and very comfortable. We stayed in a second floor room to have the private roof deck and Jacuzzi. We enjoyed both but being up one floor allowed the onshore breeze to enter the room easier allowing us to keep the door open and listen to the surf at night. The pools were great after time on the beach. The most amazing part was the hotel felt like it was all our own. Rarely saw other people. The staff goes above and beyond to be helpful but never intrusive. They really made us feel like family during every encounter. I cannot remember smiling so much when staying in a hotel. I really liked using WhatsApp to request anything you need in the room or on the beach. The concierge group were amazing answering many questions prior to the trip and arranging a private tour for us. The complementary breakfast in either of the two onsite restaurants were perfect, and yes amazing. We really enjoyed both. When we wanted a lighter breakfast on excursion day Frescos was perfect. On beach days Ziggy's was great. My biggest shout out is to the amazing Caracol bar staff and especially Kenneth and his team including Anna, Facu and Santos . Besides making amazingly good cocktails they were always super friendly and informative. Not only about Tequila and Mezcal but of Tulum and the surrounding areas. I spent a few hours almost every evening with Kenneth and his staff, usually alone, at the bar talking and learning. They really made the trip extra special. I could go on but listen; if you are looking for a smaller boutique hotel right on the sand that is primarily for couples look no further. It is AMAZING and perfect. read more

TLDR: This hotel is a mixed bag. It offers a great stretch of picture perfect beach, yummy food, and a good central location in Tulum. However, the rooms were the biggest disappontment (not that comfy/luxurious). Pros: - Location. Right smack in the middle of Beach Road, you're walking distance to everything (awesome restaurants, shops, the beach obviously). - Beach!!! This hotel has a VERY GOOD stretch of private beachfront, wide and flat, white sand and blue waters. A reserved beach bed for every room. If you want to lay on the beach all trip you can do it here. Only con: you're next to Ziggy's extremely popular public beach bar and the people/noise do spill over to the private area. - Food: Ziggy's restaurant, owned by this hotel, is excellent. Get the guac and ceviche while sitting on the beach. Free breakfast for guests - recommend Frescos for fruit bowls and smoothies. Cons: - The hotel spa is not good. My partner and I each got the Honey and Oat scrub ($100/hr) which was uncomfortably rough, cold, and left us with scrub residue all over our bodies. - Service at this hotel, while very friendly, is just not at 5 star hotel level. When we complained about our massages, the response was not adequate (2d for a reply, which was to try another treatment for free - why would we after such a bad experience?). When we asked for help booking restaurants like Arca and Kitchen Table, we were told they were full. However, we were able to walk into those same restaurants ourselves with no wait. I know these are nitpicks but when you're paying almost $800/night it sets the bar high, ya know? - Fresco's restaurant is SEVERELY underresourced, everytime we visited it was 45min+ to get our food. Go to Ziggy's instead. - Rooms: The rooms feel surprisingly budget given the price. Sheets are not high quality and bed is rather hard. The floor is this weird cement like material that we found uncomfortable barefoot. The walls are bare and could use decoration. read more

We tend to love our luxury stays with attention to detail and The Beach far exceeded our expectations! You get such a personalized vibe at this extremely beautiful, well maintained and upscale little hotel that it makes it worth it! I loved the interiors, the nuanced focus on sustainability, the lovely touches (beach bag/basket, beach slippers, yoga mat, broom to clean away sand if needed, all in-room), the caring atmosphere and the views from the ocean facing rooms... They also have free yoga every morning in a beautiful terrace-top space. They use Whatsapp for room-to-reception desk communication but really seem to just know and attend to all your needs seamlessly... it's the best hotel stay "experience" I've had on the whole. Nico and the complimentary welcome drinks and friendly chatter, Eloisa and her sweetness throughout... all made our stay worthwhile! Ziggy's and Fresca's are their restaurants and we ate breakfast in one of those restaurants (included in our stay) each morning. And you have Beach-side service from Bar Caracol as well! I am writing this review at 5:17 am as I just got to my new hotel after leaving the beach Tulum hotel. In fact I signed up for Yelp to help the other people know what a scam this place is. 1) you must wire or PayPal he hotel directly - hmmm, this is odd, I've stayed at hotels across the planet and never once did I ever have to wire money in advance to pay for my room. I asked again if I could book with a credit card. "NO, we do not accept credit cards!" 2) upon arrival they demand your credit card. Hmmm, this is odd. They didn't accept credit cards, only wire transfers or PayPal. Upon check in I reminded them that they don't accept credit cards. "Of course we do, for incidentals," and believe me, they will charge for everything! Please refer to point #1. 3) eco sheik- they love throwing this phrase around. Sounds cool right? Ok, I'll bite, what exactly is "eco sheik?" As explained by the hotel, we are eco friendly, and therefore we don't have paths, TVs, limited AC, lousy WiFi, etc. mind you the only green they care about is your money, and they will take as much of that as they can! 4) safety or lack thereof! The sliding glass doors on the front of the rooms don't lock. Well, technically they do, but if you apply a little force, waaa-la, open sesame! After my room was broken into I tried several other rooms (with the occupants aware of the situation) and the same thing happens. 5) email! Oh yes, the staff is quite diligent on responding to your emails as quick as possible. They do anything and everything to get you to wire them your $. Let's face it, this dump ain't cheap either! However; if you ever have an issue, like I did, your emails phone calls, etc will all go unanswered. It's almost like the entire staff is in on it or on a profit sharing program. This is by far the absolute worst hotel on the planet! Please be careful and don't get taken advantage! read more

The hotel is a beautiful mix between Earthy and high end. The on site restaurants have good food. The views and amenities cannot be beat! The location is right in the middle of the hopping Tulum strip. They even have complimentary bikes to ride around. A late review. On October 31st, The Beach and Cabanas Tulum hosted my husband and I along with 106 guests for our wedding and reception. It was everything I hoped for and more! Having been a wedding planner for many years, I was probably a pain to work with... But Roberto was nothing but patient with me. I pushed for many changes in the ceremony (a few a week before the wedding) and he made it happen. Anna took care of reserving 40+ rooms for about 95 guests and even suggested other places to stay for the overflow. The food was fresh, abundant, and tasty each day (including the wedding). The service was friendly no matter what the time was. The staff (so many people!) were always willing to help no matter what. All our guests were made to feel special. I witnessed the wedding reception the week before ours and guests raved about the venue and staff. Everyone goes above and beyond! The day before the wedding, I managed to drop a big pot of boiling water on my left foot. I had some bad burns but the catering manager ran somewhere to get fresh aloe Vera to my foot - he came with bandages and wraps and was so apologetic although it was not their fault. Everyone talks of Barbara as being an amazing bar tender, but she was the sweetest person. I wanted authentic special gifts for each family... She overheard me talking about it with front desk. Barbara offered to drive me the next day (on her day off) to a factory to buy 50+ heavy gifts. She helped carry them and even negotiate the prices. She 100% did not need to do that. My family is vegetarian - the chef, catering manager, and kitchen staff went out of their ways to accommodate to us. We truly had such a memorable time and so did all our guests. Tulum is a special place full of wonderful people... But the staff (and location) of The Beach and The Cabanas just made our special day wonderful! read more

We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary and right off the bat, I'd come back in a heartbeat. Our check-in process was quick, they put a small hold on my cc (no Amex, pls) and all they ask is to close your tab early if your flight departs when no one is at the front desk. The room we had was incredibly spacious, and you were only allowed to have the A/C on from 6pm to 8am. Room 1 was HOT, it was almost sweltering w/o the A/C. On our next visit, I think we may consider paying a little more for the 2nd floor rooms. Thank goodness for our dedicated beach beds - way better than competing for a bed at Ziggy's. I had meant to try yoga, but never really got the chance (next time!). It's nice to have the option and have a yoga mat in your room. Silvinia was our savior when it came to deciding where to eat for dinner. She also helped us secure dinner reservations at Cetli. Your phones won't likely work here, everything is mostly done via email or whatsapp. Barbara was also wonderful. You can rent bikes for 24 hours, but be warned, these are your non-hand brake models. I had a bit of a spill on our ride back from downtown. We also booked a Coba tour via the front desk and I managed to charge it all to credit card (I have been warned about their not-so-trustworthy ATMs in Tulum). We had a private driver and a tour guide who was very knowledgable. My only pet peeve, other than the sweltering hot room, was the lack of service on the beach itself. I also couldn't figure out how to get them on Whatsapp to order a drink. I would have certainly spent more if they came around more frequently. They really made our first stay in Tulum a memorable one and the close proximity to excellent restaurants and food was a real plus! read more

I came here with my husband to celebrate my 30th birthday. It was also a combination of our honeymoon so we decided to save and splurge on this vacation. We paid for their best room. Upon checking in we were told we needed to leave two forms of deposits, $420 on our credit card and $4,000 pesos in cash. I admit I did find it odd but I figured, this is our first time in Mexico and they may have different procedures so my husband and I went along with it. We watched her jot everything down in her notebook and she said the money would be put in a safe and we could use it towards our remaining balance at checkout. Come check out, and we ask for our cash deposit. They said they don't do cash deposits only credit card deposits. After some back and forth, the manager came out and first said it was against their hotel protocol to take deposits in cash. I told them we were told we had to make two forms of deposits and he immediately was assuming that I was accusing his staff of stealing. I immediately got the sense that he did not believe us. The person who helped us was was apparently on a plane coming back from vacation so there was no getting a hold of her. The manager vouched that she was one of his most diligent workers and she would be able to clear this all up once she lands or I had the option of getting the police involved. We had to catch a flight ourselves and the airport is two hours away from the hotel so I wasn't going to chance missing our flight and us being out even more money. When we got home I emailed the manager to see if he got a hold of her and a few hours later he responds and says that she said she had no recollection of taking a cash deposit from us. He went on to say that there were only two cash deposits jotted down in her records but neither were for my room. I immediately responded, "But, I thought you never took cash deposits??? I thought you said it was against your hotel protocol??" He said he never said that and he even went as far as to say that I imagined the whole thing! TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE!I read more

My husband and I went to The Beach for our honeymoon and we couldn't recommend it more. The staff played a huge role in our amazing experience - they went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable, having fun, well-fed and always had delicious margaritas in hand. Whenever we needed a recommendation for anything from dinner to a Mayan ruins tour guide, they provided great options and jumped into action to help us plan or provide free bikes (awesome perk). We went to Fresco's or Ziggy's every morning for super yummy breakfast - so nice that it was included. The neighborhood is perfect - walking and biking distance to all the adorable restaurants, bars and shops. Although there was some seaweed when we were there in August (this was in all of Tulum), the lounge chairs were still awesome to lay in on the beach, and the pool was a lovely alternative when we couldn't swim in the ocean. A great hotel along the main hotel drag (beachside) in Tulum. The star player here is (surprise!) the beach itself -- which is gorgeous, complete with crystal turquoise waters and white, white sand views straight from your bed. All the rooms have walk-out access to the beach. I enjoyed the private beds on the beach and the constant cleaning of seaweed from our part of the beach. There are small downsides to the hotel: no ATM, no A/C during the day, no TV in the rooms, extra fee for bike rental, tons of mosquitos (but it's Mexico and the jungle, what do you expect...). The best parts are the 2-for-1 happy hours, the amazing service from the staff including the excellent drinks prepared by Barbara, the minimalist design and the WONDERFUL breakfasts that are included in the room rate. One thing that would be nice is sunscreen and bugspray in the rooms. Overall I thought it was a great hotel. Tulum is beautiful. read more

My son had his wedding there yesterday. The people that work at this hotel and the Cabanas are the nicest people. I paid for the one of their top rooms right on the beach. The a/c, electricity and wi fi kept going on and off. The supposed jacuzzi tub in my room had no jets in it and if you do not mind every one staring at you naked in your bath tub from the rooms above you than this is the room you want. The giant tub stopper did not work and the hot water only fills up to your ankles before it goes cold. There is no point to having A/C because half of your room has no roof so the A/C is a waste of energy. In that humidity you want A/C your money is better spent on a beach room at the Cabanas. If you open your door to the room and the door to the beach you room will be nice and cool. There are no phones or little refrigerators in your room. So you have to go and get ice from the bar whenever you need to make your water cold. Again the people that work there are super wonderful and want to help to make your stay awesome. But I would not pay what I paid for that room ever again. I did not get my monies worth. Not even close. read more

Food, ambience and staff at Frescos - amazing. Make sure you get the tuna tostadas and guacamole, and spend time talking to Monica, Israel and Renata. They made it more than enjoyable.
