Croque madame. Huge breakfast sandwich. Delicious and so filling. Sorry, I had already tried it before the pic

I really wanted to love Nomade. It's a beautiful place with a mostly great staff. We stayed this past week in one of the tree house rooms which was so nice. The beach was great. Sugar sand. It was the season of the sea weed but in no way affected us or this review. The wait staff for La Popular beach restaurant were great. Very attentive. Great food and drinks. The breakfast at Macondo was really good every day. So delicious and filling. Our waiters during breakfast were so good. Especially "the brothers". We came here because Nomade touts itself as a relaxing zen vibe kinda place. Looking for a relaxing retreat to do some self care. I had a couple of things that almost ruined our whole trip. They have a "party" night which I was not aware of. I love to party. I'm not dead. It was just the loud rave music pounded into our brains until 1 am. Also during this party we tried to join for some drinks since we couldn't sleep. Not very crowded as I think it's not the high season here. We were completely ignored. I'm not sure what we did wrong. We eventually just left and walked across the street to Wild restaurant and ended up spending the next two nights there for food and drinks instead. We never tried the other restaurants for dinner just due to the poor treatment at Macondo party night. We also had a bathroom door that we couldn't get them to fix for us. Sounds silly but without a bathroom door in the treehouse you're open for every bug and crazy heat. Luckily it was our last night. Again it just felt like they didn't really care enough to respond. Anyway, They still get four stars for the positives. I would probably return for the beach and people watching. Also just to eat so easily across the road.

Lush & beautiful resort 'community' boasting 3 different restaurants. We landed on 'La popular' for the evening .. upon entry, you'll find yourself walking through lush green pathways eventually leading to your destination. Tables, chairs are all on sand, with an open kitchen; bohemian sheers hanging over you. Food wise, the menu is modest, but the tuna steak was particularly tasty and generous.

Great Bougie Hotel, nicely decorated restaurant. Cool boho vibe. Ok I was super excited to have lunch here with my favorite daughter. ( I only have one daughter) The food seemed really overpriced and I live in one of the more expensive States in the USA so I'm accustomed to overpriced restaurants. The service was poor and the food was underwhelming and undercooked. When I converted the pesos to dollars a casual lunch for two skinny ladies with taxes and tip no alcohol or desserts it was about $300.00

I stayed at Nomade, and loved everything about it, but this review is for Kuu - the sushi restaurant within Nomade. It was easily the best meal I had in Tulum (and I dined at a Michelin star restaurant while there); possibly the best meal of my life. We dined with chef Diego - he was very attentive and his hands worked magic. My only regret is that I didn't go back a second time. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend going for the omakase meal. (My photos do not do it justice)

I can't wait to go back! The service was amazing, the room was luxurious, but I felt like I was in the jungle

Definitely a spot to eat when in Tulum!!! Ambiance: it's very laid back and relaxing. The area is an open space and you sit on bean bags. The music is semi-loud. They usually walk around with a smoke to smoke out the insect because it is in the jungle. Food: DELICIOUS!!!! So fresh and savory!! I especially love the salmon it was grilled to prefect in and the taste was in point!!! The grilled squid was very fresh also, just wished it was burnt a little more. The fish tacos were delicious especially the flour that it came with, very fresh and tasty. The drinks isn't too bad. Service: Service was amazing!! People are very friendly and there outfit is so down to earth like the natives that use to live here long long ago.

    The awful Tagine!!

This review is about Macando, the Moroccan restaurant in Nomadé. Disappointment!! The evening started great as we walked in. the hostess was friendly and we were seated promptly. We ordered drinks which were decent but nothing to write home about. The appetizers were also fine- Falafel and Hummus with Pita bread. The big disappointment was the Chicken Tagine. No couscous, no rice and the dish was very briny and sour. Called the server to see if we could get some rice or couscous with it but got no answer. Asked the manager who told us 15 minutes later that the kitchen was unable to do anything to fix the dish. We asked for it to be sent back and the manager disappeared for another 10 minutes and then came back to ask what we would like instead. We opted for the chicken kabobs which were presented well but lacked flavor. As soon as the kabobs came to the table the waiter asked for us to close out our check!! No reason given. Total lack of service. We expected way better but we're thoroughly disappointed. Ambience was great hence the 2 stars. This place has potential but needs to get its act together.

    Arena suite - rustic

Big heart, eager to please, not so eco-friendly. La Popular beachside eatery is lovely, as is the adjoining beachfront lounge bed area, and the pool. Nice mellow music. Food is pretty good, but inconsistentl. I expected more "yoga" food - at least they do have one Kombucha choice. Service throughout the resort is attentive and very friendly. The concierge is always extremely responsive on What's App. Eco-resort claim is questionable. Thankfully they do not use plastic water bottles. But they do encourage the use of loads of paper napkins, plastic wrap, ice, and MOUNTAINS of towels (absolute no way to re-use your towels unless you hide them from housekeeping). Food - certainly no way to know if they are sourcing sustainably, but with the volume, it's unlikely. And loads of fruit, bread and spreads are wasted every morning at breakfast. The programs are a highlight - don't miss Lola's Kundalini, Audeo yoga, Bibi's energetic sex class, Sabine's breathwork, Matt's full body fitness. The concierge will give you a description for each class if you ask. The yoga shala is in the jungle - very beautiful spot but no view of the ocean. The Tezmacal was almost 3 hours and a bit of a suffer fest - make sure you ask a lot of questions before you commit. Breakfast - we really liked the yogurt/fruit/açaí bowls, but the egg dishes were just OK. The greens, capers, avocado and other sides were good, but the actual eggs just weren't very good eggs. It was nice that they have a gluten-free pancakes option. I was pretty disappointed in the fruit - none of it seemed very ripe or sweet. It didn't really seem any better than the fruit that we get back in the United States. We were expecting a bit of luxury, but we're disappointed at how rustic the Arena suite was. Although it does have a super stable bed (wink wink) and is a great location. Very close to the beach, although no direct view of the beach. Because of the dense foliage, not many of the rooms actually seem to have a view of the ocean, which is fine because you really just want to be down at the beach side most of the time anyway. Hot water was fickle. They have 100 rooms at the property, and none of the rooms are actually labeled, so it's hard to know if they actually even put you in your room category or not. Only 16 spots for each yoga class, so sometimes people would get turned away if they didn't arrive early enough. Maybe about 14 bikes for the property, which was always enough when we were there, but I think it was still low season. It's reccomended to bring a headlamp because our room was very dark and the power went out a few times. They have some mini-fridges, but not enough for every room. We really appreciated having one for leftovers (bring your own Tupperware!) Favorite nearby restaurants: Wild, Real Coconut and Chiringuito. There is a good spot to launch kites just south of Nomade. Also a popular spot to launch about a 5 minute walk to the north. There was only enough wind for Kiting 3 days for the middle 21 days in November. Still raining a fair amount. The road to Tulum is horrendous and it takes 30-60 minutes or more to get to Tulum for cenotes/ruins/etc.

I do not understand how anyone can write a bad review on this hotel. It's absolutely beautiful, clean and their staff is attentive and so kind. I booked a king room and was upgraded to a suite for no extra cost and it was immaculate. They cleaned it every day and replenished our water. It's definitely a jungle, eco friendly vibe, not a deluxe chain resort....But so is Tulum! I absolutely loved how the hotel strip is basically all open air huts unlike Cancun and Mazatlan. My service at the beach club was over the top. Pedro and Jose served me all week during the day and both of them were so attentive and friendly. Their food and drinks were delicious and healthy! My favorites were the fish tacos, the hibiscus punch and the cucumber cocktail. The complimentary breakfast was enough food for the whole day and delicious (I'm not a morning person so only had it once but I was thoroughly impressed). It is seaweed season right now so if that bothers you, wait! I didn't mind, I went into their pool to cool off when I was hot and it was never crowded. Concierge was extremely helpful and friendly. I did not do yoga but they have lots of classes. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a chill, non-spring breaky vibe and also not a retiree vibe. Most people were 25-50.

Delicious lunch spread with fresh juices!

My friend and I were interested in checking out Nomade for lunch on the beach with our toes in the sand. The property was located close to where we were staying, so we walked up from the beach and asked for a table in the shade. The menu is pretty extensive and has a lot of fresh and healthy options. I wanted fish tacos but the tuna tartare sounded really appealing as well, so I got both. When the tartare arrived with a basket of pita, I asked if I could swap out with tortilla chips which was not a problem. My friend ordered the shrimp tacos and a handful of the veggie options, which come in full or half-sized portions. We both opted for fresh juices over cocktails, which was a nice, refreshing alternative. All of the food was delicious and my friend was able to get her leftover veggies wrapped up to go. As you can see from my photo, everything was plated beautifully and I would say this was one of my favorite meals of the trip. Also, the ambiance is chill and there are some great photo opps. I'd be curious to know what the hotel is like, too!

Beautiful experience - great food + drinks

Everything felt calm, spacious, and unhurried. We booked the Sea View Ground Floor Suite with Plunge Pool and it was gorgeous. The room had a king bed, two twin pullouts, a small dining table, and a bright, spa-like bathroom with 2 rain showers, dual sinks, and a separate toilet room. The private deck and plunge pool faced the ocean and beach with an unobstructed sunrise view. If we wanted it heated like a hot tub, we'd message the concierge on WhatsApp and they'd turn it on almost instantly. Service was thoughtful and seamless. Check-in was easy, communication was clear, and every night we received pastries and a thermos of tea in different flavors like lemongrass and hibiscus as a surprise treat. On arrival, the adults were welcomed with margaritas and our kids with pineapple juice. Housekeeping was meticulous, right down to straightening our shoes. Beach towels and cover ups were in the room and beachside food and drink service made it easy to spend all day by the ocean. The hotel is small (about 49 rooms) so the beach never felt crowded and there was always space to relax without competing for loungers. We were traveling with family (both of my brothers and their families), and the staff made a real effort to place rooms near each other, which made the experience even more special. Luxurious, relaxed, and genuinely welcoming. NOTES/TIPS: **Book early if you want a specific room type. We booked about four months out and availability was already limited. **They're strict about room occupancy limits. If you have more than 4 in your family, a second room is required. **If you don't want to rent a car or get a taxi, the hotel can arrange round-trip airport transportation for $400 plus tip. **Checkout is at noon. Staff will check the room for any left-behind items and the front desk can hold your luggage if you want to stay and enjoy the property longer.

Very quiet location - except for the one night there was salsa dancing and a band. However as promised they ended by 11 and it was fun to have that entertainment right there. It was our first visit to Tulum so we were also super happy with WHERE this is in relation to shops and restaurants. We really had a great walk either way on the beach to experience other places during the day, and in the evening we were close enough to walk to many places for food or cocktails. Loved the amenities at the hotel- 2 bars, restaurant with delicious food, in room pour-over coffee set up, safe, fridge, safe drinking water. Would recommend La Zebra!

It gives the impression that the entire restaurant is elevated among the trees. Up on the second floor, you'll find the main dining area, plus a bar, a DJ booth, and a space for dancing. If you go higher, there's a level with private little booths for dining, and it truly feels like you're sitting in a tree. I've visited this restaurant twice for dinner, and both times it was aesthetic heaven - the atmosphere was truly fantastic! Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the food quality. Most of the dishes my partner and I tried were just okay. Honestly, there wasn't a single dish I'd call delicious. The menu isn't very big, but it does have a few interesting options. On our last visit, we decided to share several appetizers: Naan Bread, Guacamole, Crab Croquette, Fish and Chips, Tuna Cakes. From all that, we only really liked and enjoyed the fish and chips and the crab croquette. The rest wasn't good - especially the naan bread, which was hard and flavorless. The tuna cakes were very dry and tasteless as well. From my first visit, I also remember the food tasting just okay. I did try the Grilled Octopus, which I liked, but definitely didn't love. To make matters worse, the prices on the menu are quite high. The food quality doesn't match the prices at all. Even the drinks, including soft drinks, are overpriced. For example, when I ordered a mocktail, they brought me a glass that was half-filled with ice; and the drink cost 300 Mexican pesos (U.S. $16). Crazy! Another negative point is the extremely loud music on the main second floor. It's impossible to have a conversation if you sit in the middle of that level. However, if you go to the separate area across the little bridge, the music is a bit quieter, but still louder than it should be for a relaxing dinner. The first time I visited, I got a table on the uppermost level, and the noise level was much better up there. I definitely preferred that upper area. On a positive note, I want to mention the sweet staff - the hostess and waiters were always extremely nice to me. But both times I visited, the waiters didn't check on us much during the meal. Also, if the restaurant is busy, food preparation can be very slow; we waited more than 40 minutes for our order. To sum up: I do recommend visiting this place, but more as a visual and artistic experience, not for the food. Go for the atmosphere, enjoy a drink and a tasty appetizer like the fish and chips or crab croquette, but plan to have your main meal elsewhere if you're looking for truly delicious food.

We were given the information about the property and all the amenities as well as given a tour and then shown to our room, typically when you first arrive, they perform a greeting cleanse to, clear energy, set your vibe and give you a little taste of the beautiful Mayan cultural traditions. Unfortunately, when we were shown over to the location where they perform the energy cleanse no one was there so they said we'd have to come back the next day which never ended up happening. Finally, moments before we were checking out we asked if it was possible just to see what the experience was like before we left. That part was actually really good, especially after our experience staying here for six days, which will make sense by the end of this review. When we checked in, it was already dark out but the design and lighting as well as the bio inspired architecture which fuses art in nature was pretty cool to see. They only give you one key for your room for some odd reason, it was a little inconvenient because it meant that me and my wife had to be together at all moments and couldn't explore or do services separately without the hassle of having to meet up to share the key, or the other option is to go walk all the way to the front desk, which, although the walk is beautiful, the design of the floor is made out of a bunch of branches for the walkway and is very difficult to navigate, especially at night so walking turned out to be more of a hassle, but that's just me being nit-picky. The other option is you can reach out to your concierge and then they can send someone which means you're waiting sometimes 5 to 10 minutes, again very small minor inconveniences but nonetheless adds up when staying there for six days. It definitely has an effect on the overall appeal and serenity that one would expect from a place like this. The room itself had two very small shelf like closets definitely not enough hangers or space to accommodate both of our very limited wardrobe that we brought. I had to put 2 to 3 shirts on one hanger and hang the pants inside and that's literally all I brought other than T-shirts and socks and underwear and one pair of nice shoes I literally packed very minimal and still didn't have enough space... again very small inconvenience but nonetheless 20 different small inconveniences all fused together to make one kind of annoying overall experience. Now I can say that I have mixed feelings about the minimal electricity and necessity to use tea candles for our lighting, but I respect the sustainability aspect of it and it did make very nice environment and mood. The only downside is they tell you that you don't blow the candles out and you can leave them on overnight and we had one explode right next to our heads and over all of our bathroom essentials. The shower is right in the middle there's no protection for water so it gets all over the floor, I nearly slipped a few times because of it. Probably sounds nit picky, but these are things I believe make it or break it for places like this. We experienced some type of mishap daily. We ordered hot water and they brought a dirty used coffee pot. They left the dirty brush in the toilet area. Didn't pick it up until the following day. Asked us if we could place it outside the door. Took forever to bring blankets. They got maybe 8/10 requests wrong and charged us for some and denied that, so wasn't able to get a refund. wasn't much, but principally speaking it's horrible feeling in the midst of many things going wrong. Atmosphere - 90% (small weird sewage smell almost everywhere except the room) Vibe - 80% Cost - 75% should be more enjoyable for the price imo... i dont mind paying extra for experience when its on point Food - 60% (first meal, room-service, was incredible {and cost matched that} every other meal on property lacked in all ways except the sushi which we enjoyed as a snack before going to dinner off site. Really over priced in general but the experience and design makes it palatable. Service - 2 stars overall (except for our concierge who had to deal with her associates lack of professionalism and incredible number of mistakes made each day). Location/architecture,view - 100 (If it wasn't for the sound of the ocean slapping the rocks below our balcony and the sound of the waves soothing us at night, waking up to the most amazing view from bed facing the ocean and the sunrise and also the sunsets each night with a great breeze and insane temperatures than this trip would probably have been all bad. My suggestion. Book 1-2 nights for the location and view then find a better spot elsewhere.

There are no concierge reliably onsite. You are given a WhatsApp number to text and sometimes they can be very slow to respond. First issue I ran into was the concierge's lack of punctuality and poor communication regarding bike rentals. She promised a bike at 8am but 15 mins before the agreed upon time texted me that she could not follow through. I agreed to wait until 10 but was delayed a second time until 11. The second delay was not even communicated to me without my prompting. See chat screenshots. The main issue was my balcony was flooded by careless guests upstairs who left their outdoor tub running (see pic). I was splashed and had to change. My phone also got wet and I could not charge it for the rest of the night until it dried. I could have had other valuables such as electronics out that could have been irreparably damaged and I could not use either loungers, which were soaking wet for the rest of the day/night. The water ran for 10 mins before hotel staff could stop it. No one came to clean my balcony. However, most disappointing was the concierge's refusal to take accountability for the incident (again, see screenshots). I would have been happy with a complementary margarita but instead was completely dismissed. I asked to speak to a manager on site and was told there were none. I asked for an email address or phone number and was given only the reservation email address. I detailed my experience in an email and waited 2 weeks before righting this review. No one replied. It is my experience that guests' conduct at the hotel is within the control and part of the hotel's responsibility and that top tier hospitality establishments, which I had assumed Azulik to be, value customer satisfaction and have accountability.
