Tent Patio
Alex P.

While sleeping in a very expensive tent may not be everyone's idea of luxury, it should certainly be everyone's idea of fun. Located right on the coast, Habitas is a remarkable example of natural preservation and a quintessential way to experience Tulum the way it's supposed to be. This private jungle oasis is easily approachable from the main road, with staff directing guests where to park, which is along the street. The tents are very comfortable and the AC was sufficient despite intense summer heat. All the amenities are there. One of the best things is that there are no problems with bugs inside the tent as long as you are careful in keeping the doctor closed. Evenings are filled with noises of nature, including coati that love to frequent the roof of the tent and patio. There is pure magic to that, being surrounded not just by jungle plants, but animals too. Yet, it is something to keep in mind for some guests: do not expect a Marriott or a Hilton. This is a very real nature hotel. The restaurant is amazing and the design is very slick. Staff are attentive and helpful at all times. There is a nice little bar as well. Prices are high, but reasonable for Tulum relative to other hotels. The main area that was a little disappointing was the cleanliness of the pool. The water was greasy and borderline murky looking. Thus, this was the only real downside of the property. The pool is tiny as well. The hotel does allow outside guests to pay money and visit, so that does not help with keeping the pool clean and is the only reason I cannot give 5 stars. The beach, while swimmable, was loaded up with seaweed in early summer. The staff did an amazing job trying to clean up the seaweed, but it felt like an impossible task as they worked most of the day, yet more seaweed kept coming. As a whole, a remarkable property that I can recommend with no hesitation.

We're just home after a short stay. We chose this after a lot of consideration over Mi Amor just down the beach and am so glad we did. We made arrangements through the hotel for a driver from Tulum airport. Benjamin. Great guy. He gave us lots of tips and ended up being the one to take us to the Cenotes. We met Hannibal first and he ended up being our go to guy for anything we needed. I wasn't sure what I was going to think about "glamping" for my 60th birthday. What a wonderful place. I would return time and time again. It's so relaxing. The staff were great. Rafael, Alexis, Will, and more that I'm drawing a blank on for names were all fantastic. They made us so comfortable. Great food. Great pool. Great beach. There was the sea weed thing but that didn't change anything for us. We took a couple of the classes they offered and had literally the best massage I think I've ever had. I think if you want to really relax and be pampered then give this place a look. Thx for a great stay and a first time visit to Tulum. Oh yeah, get a room with the plunge pool. You can thank me later.

Enjoyed dinner here. Service was great and food was gourmet. The open air dining space is lovely and your nose will be welcomed with the Smokey aroma of jungle incense (see: natural mosquito repellent)

Amazing! If you're in Tulum, this is a must-visit. The food is overpriced but very fresh. The service is incredibly friendly, and the ambiance is quiet, zen, romantic, and peaceful. There's even a live band playing outside. I love it and highly recommend it!

I had a lovely Sunday afternoon into evening at Habitas. Myself and two girlfriends went here to enjoy the Sunday afternoon day party. There were DJs, house music, and happy people dancing in the sun. The entire place was decorated beautifully and had so many delightful artistic touches. We had several drinks while there and in the end got very hungry and ordered dinner. They really shined at the presentation and the complexity of flavors. We ordered about 5 dishes to share, and each one was delicious. I will say that we were pretty drunk and didn't notice the bill we were racking up. We were surprised when the bill came, but that's on us. This place is more of a special occasion dining experience. I would come back if I was in the area and wanted to celebrate a special occasion with a special meal.

Habitas is magical, yes.... but... But you really get raked over the coals here. The breakfast wasn't included and they make you charge everything to the room, drinks, food, breakfast, water and coffee; none of its cheap. Tulum in general ain't cheap but at $430/night you'd thing they'd give you free eggs. No one, not once informed us of the bad side to staying in a "private pool room" until we got there. 1. It wasn't that private, the other pool tent is right next door and guess what, it's a tent... you can hear EVERYTHING! you know what I mean right? The pool was nice but the light didn't work, the water was cold, you can see right through your neighbors fence thing so we couldn't be as "free" as we wanted. The morning of checkout we went to breakfast and came back to two men in our room- Unwarned anyone would be there (cleaning the pool) we were alarmed to say the least and suspicious of missing money! The fridge is a great addition but I think they need a small safe, you pay so much for this place, they can really do a better job. 2. Yes there's a second downfall no one told us about until we arrived. Raccoons. Now they are friendly enough and won't attack or anything like that... however, it's a tent, and these raccoons like to come to the pool overnight to hang out and spa the f*ck out, can't blame them, but here's the issue: they got up on top of the tent and were tasking around waking us up... it was super strange to wake up and a bit funny but there was another on the deck going to town on what I at first thought was an animal, I didn't tell my girlfriend, I told her not to freak out and that I'd take care of them... I soon came to realize he was messing around with her brand new $200 bathing suit!? Yeah I was alarmed by the price tag too... Anyway, I seriously didn't Tel her now, I opened the door and shewed them away never to return, rescuing the sexy suit and saving the day but why weren't we told about any of this? Why did the bar and breakfast overcharge? Why was everything very money grabbing feeling? Tulum takes advantage of you Habitas emphasizes it. Splurge on two nights in Tulum, the rest of the time just slum it somewhere! @fork.the.world

Habitas is not your typical resort. If you want all inclusive look somewhere else. It's definitely an experience and a treat. The rooms are individual tents with a/c, we had the ocean front room. Definitely the best room. You can hear the ocean and it's more private then the others. The other rooms are on the walking trails and ppl could look in if you don't close the curtains. Drinks and food were awesome, they cook everything in an oven. They offer yoga and meditation. The pool and beach front isn't huge, but still enjoyable. The staff is amazing!

I did not stay here, so I will only review the restaurant and the beach club Pro: amazing decoration, really nice vibe, great service, and good food. Cons: the mixologist was one of the worst in tulum by far, I did not like any drink and we try different ones just to hopefully get a better, but it was not his thing. Music was also so bad, really boring like the one they play at an elevator, and again they do not have shisha/hooka. So if you come for brunch or lunch you will be satisfied, but if you are trying to get a taboo or papaya playa vibe, I don't think this is the place.

I can't say enough great things about this place! When we first arrived they immediately took our luggage to our room and they showed us around the resort. We were blown away by the amazing aromas, vibey music, & beautiful exteriors of the place! Everyone who worked there was so friendly and they made the experience so personable by calling us by our names and always greeting us. We loved how it also wasn't overly-crowded and there didn't seem to be many outsiders coming in to use the pool or beach which kept it extra chill and quiet. They were on top of their game when it came to the room too - we noticed one of our light bulbs went out (which wasn't a big deal since we still had other lighting) and before we even remembered to mention it to them it was already fixed. We went during mosquito season so they had some sort of natural repellant to keep them away. All of the other restaurants and resorts had it too but it only does so much, so bring STRONG insect repellant if you go from July-December. We stayed in the jungle tents and thought the outdoor shower and bathroom was a really fun touch, although to us it would have been worth it to pay the extra for oceanfront where there were less mosquitos from the sea breeze. The food was all incredible and by the end of our trip I think we ordered about everything off the menu. It's all super healthy, full of flavor, and presented in a beautiful and creative way. We had the guac and arugula salad multiple times during our stay. For breakfast, the avocado toast was a favorite, and if you love olives & sun-dried tomato's you'll enjoy the vegan toast! Tip-If you're going to book a massage, make sure it's not during a time when there's construction going on (before 9 or after 5). They seemed to always be working on the roof of a tent which can be loud during the day. Regardless, it was still a wonderful experience. We didn't get a chance to do much of the other activities the place offered but they looked amazing!! My friend recommended this place to me and I highly highly recommend it to anyone else!

Awesome place! Rooms are spotless, service throughout the hotel is exceptional, food at the restaurant is great and the staff is extremely helpful! I have been to other areas in Mexico and haven't ever came close to feeling this comfortable. The hotel is a whole vibe! Gardeners here know what they are doing!! Another plus for Americans is that almost everyone here at the hotel knows English. Just Incase you aren't able to communicate in Spanish well. Definitely 5 stars and plan on coming back in the future!

I dined at the restaurant at Habitas and it was outstanding! I'd love to go back and stay on the property some time. I did get to see one of the jungle suites and it was beautiful! The property doesn't look like much from the street but once you're inside, the exclusivity of this property unfolds with the gorgeous jungle pathway leading to the restaurant, infinity pool, bar and ocean. The seating areas on this property are stunning! Each section looks like a work of art. The food was excellent! Service was good. The live band was outstanding! There is a deck with a nice view and the bar is fun with the hammock swings. Would love to go back and spend more time!

Love this place. I would return and recommend it to friends. The staff here is amazing. The glamping style tents are very comfortable. The AC is a must in Mexico. There is a way to lock the tents and there is a safe. We felt like our property was very safe. They also have a security team. We enjoyed the mezcal tasting, yoga, and a Mayan clay ceremony. All of which were a great experience. The pool is clean and there are plenty of beds or chairs to relax in. Again the staff is amazing. They made us feel very comfortable. Only con would be the bikes, but there are restaurants you can walk to, and taxis waiting almost always.

This place was nothing short of spectacular. Heard so much about this place it was hard not to come and check it out myself. Let me start off by thanking the staff there for their superior service. Mind you, I only came in for some drinks at the bar. This place was amazing I mean you walk into a lush green jungle with incense burning and the rooms are just beautiful. The place really makes you forget wherever you're coming from. The bar is located on the beach side with an infinity pool just by it as well. My server, Ivan, was just awesome. He was super friendly, attended every need we had awesome conversation he just made my time there just thay much better it was a pleasure having him around. The bartender was also great he gave us a couple of shots on the house accompanied with garlic roasted crickets and they were so tasty! We spent about 5 hours at this place and if you're in the bar you have access to the beds on the beach, the pools and the dining area which all of it is just wonderful. I dont know how else to do this place justice. Lastly, after a long day of drinking. lol Unfortunately, I left my camera at the bar. I didnt notice until the next day when I was frantically looking around for it. I thought I would be left it there. Drove back, to them the people remembered me by name and all they even told me about my camera and they had found it where I left it by the bar. These guys are true champs the place was just amazing. Definitely coming back and sending everyone I know here. Way to go Habitas!

We stayed well past dark. The architecture alone is worth the trip.. there is this wild underground-but-above-ground tunnel situation you really just have to see for yourself. When I got to the entrance, the woman working there (Joanna) was unbelievably rude. I explained that we already had reservations and just needed five minutes to see where to set up the surprise. She flat-out refused and said I'd have to pay 8,000 pesos just to look. I asked for a manager, but she said the manager agreed I couldn't go up. She said the place is like the pictures online and I could decide from that. After 30 minutes of back-and-forth, she finally let me in -- and I was in and out in under 3 minutes. Thankfully, Juno upstairs was wonderful and actually helpful (the only positive part of this whole story). Fast-forward to the night of the proposal: Joanna, who knew it was supposed to be a surprise, asked in front of everyone, "Is this for the engagement party?" -- completely ruining it. Her apology didn't even sound genuine. The service after that was awful. We asked for the ahumador contra mosquitos they use at the tables, and no one brought it until we asked again and they brought it as we were closing out. The wait staff basically disappeared once they realized we weren't ordering food. We still met the minimum spend and even bought bottles, but it was the worst "special occasion" experience I've ever had. The place is gorgeous in photos -- but don't let that fool you. Between rude staff, bad energy, and zero hospitality, it's just not worth it.

At Punta Piedra, my room was cleaned daily, with new towels, and they had a nice bowl of water by my door for me to wash off my sandy feet. The owner of the place was really helpful in explaining the taxi/bus system and in calling me cabs (we'd been ripped off at the airport and were nervous) and I liked having someone I could trust. I locked my stuff in the safe every night and in the day when we went out (two MacBooks, an iPad, passports) and nothing was stolen. And while the reviews were great, I still wasn't sure what to expect since this place was 1/3 the price of other nearby hotels. Well, all I can say is: wow. This adorable, hyperlocal little mini resort is everything we were looking for. It features a cluster of grass-roofed cabanas surrounding a lush, tropical courtyard filled with white Caribbean sand. Every room has an outdoor seating area (some larger than others) so you can enjoy the ocean - which is only steps away as La Conchita is located right on the beach. It was so amazing to be lulled asleep every night by the loud, crashing waves. The property is no frills - there's no on-site spa, bar, or restaurant. But there's a beach club literally right next door which you can order from while enjoying La Conchita's private (and complimentary to guests) palapas and beach mattresses. There are also massages available in the beach area for a reasonable price - we saw many people partaking of them while we were there. Our room itself was big, bright, and comfortable. The bed was luxurious, the bathroom small-but-clean; and the room contained all the basic amenities we could need for our short visit: a small fridge to keep the beers cold, and a Nespresso machine for morning coffee. Our unit (#5) faced the beach directly, and we spent lots of time on our patio, watching the waves crash and the palm trees blow in the breeze. There are also several restaurants and bars lining the street, all within walking distance. Our favorite was Potheads, and elevated coffee shop with delicious food (and espresso, of course). We also dined at the tapas bar next door and it was delicious. They also offer a 10% discount to La Conchita guests for breakfast and dinner. When we left La Conchita we both agreed we can't wait to go back here on our next trip to the area!
