AMAZING!! Wow what an amazing experience at El Pez Hotel. Everything from the location to the amazing and caring staff El Pez is something you have to experience at least once. From the minute we checked in until the day we left we were treated amazingly. The rooms are beautiful with beach front access you wake up to the sounds of waves and go to sleep to the sound of beautiful waves. Breakfast is delicious and it is amazing to wake up to hot tea every morning. A big thank you to the hotel's supervisor Gener he is the definition of outstanding hospitality. Lucia, Jesus, & Edzon are amazing servers at the El Pez restaurant which is located upon entering the lobby. I highly recommend El Pez Hotel it is the true definition of a small luxury hotel which helps you reconnect with yourself, each other and the beauty of Tulum and it's nature.

We could not have had a more enjoyable time in Tulum than we did staying at El Pez Hotel. From the five-star service and concierge to the fantastic breakfast, which was included in our stay, to the delicious cocktails, lunch and dinner, El Pez was the perfect choice for us to spend our post-wedding mini-moon. All of the concierge staff went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible, but the head of concierge, Abdel, was especially professional and helpful. He gave us great tips on everything from the cenotes we should visit to the best restaurants around for whatever atmosphere we were looking for that night to delicious and romantic cocktail spots to local favorites that we especially enjoyed checking out and experiencing, and would have otherwise not known about. In addition to the top-notch service and dining experience, the design of the hotel itself is the perfect combination of boho Tulum chic and rustic beach vibes with scenic views of the ocean everywhere you look and plenty of outdoor space and porches off of every room to enjoy in addition to a beach. The amenities are all very modern and the hotel is environmentally-friendly, which is a nice added benefit. While I know in previous reviews some people have complained about the smell of the seaweed this has nothing to do with the hotel and you will find that this is the case anywhere you stay if the seaweed tide is bad. In fact, El Pez goes out of their way if there is a red tide to immediately clean the seaweed off of the hotel beach that morning to minimize the seaweed effect, which not all beach front hotels will do. From a location standpoint, if you're looking for easy access to everything you really can't get better than El Pez. Located smack in the middle of "the party side" of Tulum and the "quiet romantic side" of Tulum, El Pez is just a walk, bike or short can ride away from both options. The hotel itself however is very quiet, romantic and private without any noise aside from the sounds of waves crashing against the rocks. El Pez is also located very close to the main town of Tulum, the many cenotes and the lagoons. In addition to walking, biking and taking a taxi, you can rent a car extremely easily through the concierge for a day or multiple days if desired. The hotel works with Hertz directly, making it extremely easy for the guests, and the Hertz representatives are very professional. We did this for a day during our stay to be able to drive to multiple cenotes and a lagoon. We could not have been happier with how easy it was to do and how nice the car was that we received. Last but not least, El Pez is part of the Colibri Hotel group, so expect to receive one free drink per person to each of their surrounding properties upon arrival, which include La Zebra, Mi Amor and Mezzanine, all of which I would recommend visiting for a cocktail or two. Overall, we had a terrific hotel stay El Pez at in Tulum. My husband and I could not have better things to say about it. We will definitely be back!

We had the most wonderful stay at El Pez! What a hidden gem...We were worried that the pictures made it look nicer than real life, but it actually WAS that cute and nice! Perfect little boutique hotel. The rooms were beautiful, very private, no worries about other rooms seeing into your space. Great oceanfront view totally unobstructed!! We stayed at a couple other places in tulum in the busier areas and you get so much more at El Pez for the money...free coffee to your room door every morning and free tea and chocolates every night! So cute. Compared to other hotels the free breakfast was waaaaaay better. So fresh and big portions. Very cool selection of items and delicious coffee. The location is prime for being close enough to the main restaurant area but not too far down the strip. You do NOT want to bother trying to stay in the middle of the busy areas. Driving or taking a taxi there is a nightmare. Sitting in traffic for an hour every afternoon trying to get back to the hotel was not fun. If you plan on doing cenotes or any activities you want to be closer to tulum city center or within biking distance of that area. Tour drivers might pick you up but that means you still have to sit in traffic. Don't waste your time. You can rent a bike at the hotel too which is nice and only $5 per person per day. The beach was great, super private and not over crowded like other parts of the strip. And the concierge team went above and beyond helping us arrange dinner reservations, activities and anything you could think of. Arturo and Gilbert were so thoughtful and even after we checked out they still messaged us helpful tips on things we had asked about. All of the staff were amazing and really made the experience the best! We can't say enough good things about El Pez! We will be back!! Thank you!

Eduardo and Marco are the best! My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon and had a wonderful, carefree time. The drinks are lovely and the views are outstanding. While the beaches aren't as enjoyable as some of the neighboring resorts, you have but a couple minute stroll down the beach to find clear swimming. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the cabanas are magnificent. Short commute into the city of tulum, and a small trek to any of the other restaurants (and happy hours!). Highly recommend!

We were given the information about the property and all the amenities as well as given a tour and then shown to our room, typically when you first arrive, they perform a greeting cleanse to, clear energy, set your vibe and give you a little taste of the beautiful Mayan cultural traditions. Unfortunately, when we were shown over to the location where they perform the energy cleanse no one was there so they said we'd have to come back the next day which never ended up happening. Finally, moments before we were checking out we asked if it was possible just to see what the experience was like before we left. That part was actually really good, especially after our experience staying here for six days, which will make sense by the end of this review. When we checked in, it was already dark out but the design and lighting as well as the bio inspired architecture which fuses art in nature was pretty cool to see. They only give you one key for your room for some odd reason, it was a little inconvenient because it meant that me and my wife had to be together at all moments and couldn't explore or do services separately without the hassle of having to meet up to share the key, or the other option is to go walk all the way to the front desk, which, although the walk is beautiful, the design of the floor is made out of a bunch of branches for the walkway and is very difficult to navigate, especially at night so walking turned out to be more of a hassle, but that's just me being nit-picky. The other option is you can reach out to your concierge and then they can send someone which means you're waiting sometimes 5 to 10 minutes, again very small minor inconveniences but nonetheless adds up when staying there for six days. It definitely has an effect on the overall appeal and serenity that one would expect from a place like this. The room itself had two very small shelf like closets definitely not enough hangers or space to accommodate both of our very limited wardrobe that we brought. I had to put 2 to 3 shirts on one hanger and hang the pants inside and that's literally all I brought other than T-shirts and socks and underwear and one pair of nice shoes I literally packed very minimal and still didn't have enough space... again very small inconvenience but nonetheless 20 different small inconveniences all fused together to make one kind of annoying overall experience. Now I can say that I have mixed feelings about the minimal electricity and necessity to use tea candles for our lighting, but I respect the sustainability aspect of it and it did make very nice environment and mood. The only downside is they tell you that you don't blow the candles out and you can leave them on overnight and we had one explode right next to our heads and over all of our bathroom essentials. The shower is right in the middle there's no protection for water so it gets all over the floor, I nearly slipped a few times because of it. Probably sounds nit picky, but these are things I believe make it or break it for places like this. We experienced some type of mishap daily. We ordered hot water and they brought a dirty used coffee pot. They left the dirty brush in the toilet area. Didn't pick it up until the following day. Asked us if we could place it outside the door. Took forever to bring blankets. They got maybe 8/10 requests wrong and charged us for some and denied that, so wasn't able to get a refund. wasn't much, but principally speaking it's horrible feeling in the midst of many things going wrong. Atmosphere - 90% (small weird sewage smell almost everywhere except the room) Vibe - 80% Cost - 75% should be more enjoyable for the price imo... i dont mind paying extra for experience when its on point Food - 60% (first meal, room-service, was incredible {and cost matched that} every other meal on property lacked in all ways except the sushi which we enjoyed as a snack before going to dinner off site. Really over priced in general but the experience and design makes it palatable. Service - 2 stars overall (except for our concierge who had to deal with her associates lack of professionalism and incredible number of mistakes made each day). Location/architecture,view - 100 (If it wasn't for the sound of the ocean slapping the rocks below our balcony and the sound of the waves soothing us at night, waking up to the most amazing view from bed facing the ocean and the sunrise and also the sunsets each night with a great breeze and insane temperatures than this trip would probably have been all bad. My suggestion. Book 1-2 nights for the location and view then find a better spot elsewhere.

There are no concierge reliably onsite. You are given a WhatsApp number to text and sometimes they can be very slow to respond. First issue I ran into was the concierge's lack of punctuality and poor communication regarding bike rentals. She promised a bike at 8am but 15 mins before the agreed upon time texted me that she could not follow through. I agreed to wait until 10 but was delayed a second time until 11. The second delay was not even communicated to me without my prompting. See chat screenshots. The main issue was my balcony was flooded by careless guests upstairs who left their outdoor tub running (see pic). I was splashed and had to change. My phone also got wet and I could not charge it for the rest of the night until it dried. I could have had other valuables such as electronics out that could have been irreparably damaged and I could not use either loungers, which were soaking wet for the rest of the day/night. The water ran for 10 mins before hotel staff could stop it. No one came to clean my balcony. However, most disappointing was the concierge's refusal to take accountability for the incident (again, see screenshots). I would have been happy with a complementary margarita but instead was completely dismissed. I asked to speak to a manager on site and was told there were none. I asked for an email address or phone number and was given only the reservation email address. I detailed my experience in an email and waited 2 weeks before righting this review. No one replied. It is my experience that guests' conduct at the hotel is within the control and part of the hotel's responsibility and that top tier hospitality establishments, which I had assumed Azulik to be, value customer satisfaction and have accountability. I was sadly wrong.

The concierge service was helpful they were able to call restaurant and cabs for us. The location of Mi Amor was also great, not that far from tulum ruins. We ate breakfast basically every morning at the hotel and we enjoyed everything from the pancakes, granola, oat, avocado toast, teas, and coffees. For lunch and dinner we ate at Mezzanine, casa Maria, and also went outside of the national park down by the hotel zone. Don't forget to tip! There was a security guard on the premises all night as well. Great food and shopping right outside the hotel on the street! I've read reviews on other websites with people expecting more services or generally disliking this hotel, but I don't see how.. This is a nice, quiet, quaint hotel NOT a resort so don't expect to be waited on or all the amenities. Electricity is limited so heads up: no blow dryers or curling irons and use lights minimally to be eco-conscious. But you CAN charge your phone (outlets right next to bed) Also, no flushing TP so it must put in a little trash can under the sink, but we had no problems with this. There is the Sargassum seaweed problem on the beach but this is not fault of the hotel and the few hotels on the same beach shared with Calaluna work everyday to clear the seaweed for the guests but it builds up quickly. The seaweed didn't bother us, the beach was still very relaxing and there's so much other stuff to do in the area (ruins & cenotes) Would stay here again!

Across the street from them, there's an adorable taco place (sweet potato tacos) that did 2 for 1 drinks happy hour for five hours a day, and I got enormous mojitos, larger than my face for around $3 each. At Punta Piedra, my room was cleaned daily, with new towels, and they had a nice bowl of water by my door for me to wash off my sandy feet. The owner of the place was really helpful in explaining the taxi/bus system and in calling me cabs (we'd been ripped off at the airport and were nervous) and I liked having someone I could trust. I locked my stuff in the safe every night and in the day when we went out (two MacBooks, an iPad, passports) and nothing was stolen. The safe didn't feel very secure -- the lock was kind of iffy, but the room did, and as we had a beach view, and a private building, it would have been hard for a stranger to rob us. The sea was gorgeous and blue, but had some seaweed in it, as we'd expected. However: there's a way around this. Walk up or down the beach (you can get to this by climbing over the rocks at the side, or a looooong walk via road) and stretches of the beaches there (not all, but some) were seaweed free; the tide does what it wants, right? I swam and paddled and had a lovely time. BRING SUNCREAM. It gets hot. Would love to go back.

Located right on the coast, Habitas is a remarkable example of natural preservation and a quintessential way to experience Tulum the way it's supposed to be. This private jungle oasis is easily approachable from the main road, with staff directing guests where to park, which is along the street. The tents are very comfortable and the AC was sufficient despite intense summer heat. All the amenities are there. One of the best things is that there are no problems with bugs inside the tent as long as you are careful in keeping the doctor closed. Evenings are filled with noises of nature, including coati that love to frequent the roof of the tent and patio. There is pure magic to that, being surrounded not just by jungle plants, but animals too. Yet, it is something to keep in mind for some guests: do not expect a Marriott or a Hilton. This is a very real nature hotel. The restaurant is amazing and the design is very slick. Staff are attentive and helpful at all times. There is a nice little bar as well. Prices are high, but reasonable for Tulum relative to other hotels. The main area that was a little disappointing was the cleanliness of the pool. The water was greasy and borderline murky looking. Thus, this was the only real downside of the property. The pool is tiny as well. The hotel does allow outside guests to pay money and visit, so that does not help with keeping the pool clean and is the only reason I cannot give 5 stars. The beach, while swimmable, was loaded up with seaweed in early summer. The staff did an amazing job trying to clean up the seaweed, but it felt like an impossible task as they worked most of the day, yet more seaweed kept coming. As a whole, a remarkable property that I can recommend with no hesitation.

I did some searching on a travel app and up popped La Conchita at a very reasonable price. And while the reviews were great, I still wasn't sure what to expect since this place was 1/3 the price of other nearby hotels. Well, all I can say is: wow. This adorable, hyperlocal little mini resort is everything we were looking for. It features a cluster of grass-roofed cabanas surrounding a lush, tropical courtyard filled with white Caribbean sand. Every room has an outdoor seating area (some larger than others) so you can enjoy the ocean - which is only steps away as La Conchita is located right on the beach. It was so amazing to be lulled asleep every night by the loud, crashing waves. The property is no frills - there's no on-site spa, bar, or restaurant. But there's a beach club literally right next door which you can order from while enjoying La Conchita's private (and complimentary to guests) palapas and beach mattresses. There are also massages available in the beach area for a reasonable price - we saw many people partaking of them while we were there. Our room itself was big, bright, and comfortable. The bed was luxurious, the bathroom small-but-clean; and the room contained all the basic amenities we could need for our short visit: a small fridge to keep the beers cold, and a Nespresso machine for morning coffee. Our unit (#5) faced the beach directly, and we spent lots of time on our patio, watching the waves crash and the palm trees blow in the breeze. There are also several restaurants and bars lining the street, all within walking distance. Our favorite was Potheads, and elevated coffee shop with delicious food (and espresso, of course). We also dined at the tapas bar next door and it was delicious. They also offer a 10% discount to La Conchita guests for breakfast and dinner. When we left La Conchita we both agreed we can't wait to go back here on our next trip to the area!
