For date night, we started at High Hand Cafe! They also have a nursery, a brewery, a flavor balsamic and flavored olive oil shop, a well as gorgeous decor for your garden (and much much more!). If you haven't been here, stop what you're doing and at least check out the nursery! Our mission was to have brunch. However, on a Tuesday, it is not available. Only in the weekends. Oh, and you absolutely need to call ahead, or you can book a reservation through your Yelp app. You also want to arrive at your reservation about 20 minutes early because you could be looking for a parking space for a little while or end up parking a little ways away. As we entered the HH Cafe, it was like walking into an open greenhouse. It was beautiful with the arrangement of the plants and trees inside. We had a lot of patience that day, and when we were taken to our table, another server had placed a tray of food in it before we got there. We absolutely didn't mind waiting, but as the table was almost clear, other servers walking by were giving us dirty looks for waiting, even without us being in the way... it made for a very uncomfortable "special lunch". The hostesses are AMAZING, by the way. They smiled and were nicer than the service we received from anyone else. They are doing an amazing job! When our server, Sara S, arrived, we recognized she was really busy. We went right to our order - 4 pack of Tropical Hazy Beer made by HH Brewery House made potato chips that come with a lemon artichoke dip Rotisserie Chicken Wood Fire Pizza Our beer came in a nice cooler over ice with 2 frosty glasses. It was very tasty. We also received our chips and dip... The Lemon Artichoke Dip was so delicious and refreshing! It comes in such a small dish, so we asked for a refill, and they happily obliged! When we received our pizza, it looked good and tasted good, but it isn't something we will be craving anytime soon. The dough was very plain. It packed flavor. It was just...ok. The star of the show was the Lemon Artichoke Dip. The flavors in it complimented each other so beautifully! Gave this place another try for a special lunch with a friend. Our server was impatient and inattentive, I was midway through my soup and encountered a long meandering hair -- not mine. Eventually the server came by and wordlessly took the bowl away. There was no apology or offer of alternative remedies. Just a disgruntled attitude (like I was the problem). Then after a few minutes a new bowl of soup was dropped in front of me as a kind of hit and run solution. This bothered me because it would've been from the same hairy soup pot. Lovely visit as always, but I do have a suggestion for the chef. My husband and I both had the pesto chicken sandwich on focaccia. Instead of putting a non-flat chicken breast in the sandwich, I suggest slicing the roasted chicken to put in the sandwich instead. That way, the focaccia which is delicious would not fall apart when trying to eat it over an uneven chicken breast. I think then we'd have near perfection. My sister & I were driving to Lake Tahoe last Wed, and decided to stop here for lunch around 2pm. There wasn't a wait, but it was crowded for a Wed. We were seated, and William came by and took our drink and food orders. I went with a 16oz Kia Ora Hazy IPA $9 which was good. We started out with their incredible home made chips & Lemon Artichoke Dip $15 that was oh so delicious! I just wish they would give you more dip since we always have a lot more chips then dip. I also ordered a Turkey Sandwich $19 which was yummy. My sister ordered the Tri-Tip Sandwich $21 which she too enjoyed. We've lived in the area a long time but this was our first time going here and I really don't get the hype. The hostess was visibly annoyed and snappy. All the food tasted sweet (even the sandwiches and bread?) but otherwise didn't have much flavor (including the meat). The prices seem pretty high for a lunch spot with no original dishes and a limited menu. We had originally planned to try a dessert but after our meals we changed our mind and didn't want to waste the money. We wandered through the nursery while we waited for our table and those prices are also unreasonable. You can find most of the same plant varieties at other local nurseries for a fraction of the price. I've tried their beer in the past and it was good, that's about all I can say about this place. Love this place! Food is always excellent (home made potato chips are to die for!}. Service is great - our recent server was helpful, attentive, and accommodating. The ambience makes one feel as if you're dining outside -- no matter the weather the "greenhouse" is the perfect place. (There are also outside seats, under trees and umbrellas. One of our party uses a mobility scooter and likes to have it close in case she needs something from it (she moves to a regular seat) and our host was also very helpful, seating us in a perfect spot with the scooter right next to us, out of the way of traffic. My hubby is in Auburn for work and we decided to come and visit for the long weekend. He wanted to take us out for brunch and this is where we decided to go. I am so glad! We walked in through the side that is the nursery entrance so we got to walk through what looked like a garden to get to the restaurant. We got there about 10am and it was pretty busy. If we sat inside it would have been a 20 minute wait, but outside we would have gotten sat right away. We sat outside, under a heater among the trees and plants and it was lovely! Eventhough inside it was nice, I'm glad we decidedordego outside. I ordered a mimosa, my hubby got a bloody Mary, and the kids all got chocolate milk that was hand mixed. We were all very happy with our drink! The mimosa was a little strong, but that might have been just because I haven't drank in a while! It was delicious either way! Haha! Our server was excellent, very accommodating, friendly, and fast. Honestly everyone that we came in contact with was very friendly and welcoming. I got the classic eggs Benedict and so did my hubby. The hollandaise sauce was perfect! It is so easy to mess up and I am always scared when I order it, but The High Hand did not disappoint! The bread was toasted perfectly, and the ham was excellent. The eggs were cooked just right, and the potatoes tied in perfectly. We were both very happy with our food. If you want a delectable dish, try the banana bread french toast! Oh. My. God! Perfection on a plate! I am a bit of a snob when it comes to banana bread, and I was very pleased with this dish! The bread was very moist, and flavorful. Not too overpowering with banana, but just the right amount. You can definitely tell that it is homemade. The carmel drizzle was just enough to send that extra punch of flavor. So good! Our little one ordered pancakes off the kids menu and those were very fluffy and good too, and a good size. Most people say, well how can you mess up pancakes? But honestly I've seen it happen! Haha! Friday, 10/25/2024 - We drove by High Hand Nursery & Cafe and decided to try them. Address is 3790 Taylor Rd, Loomis, CA 95650. They do have a little parking lot there. It was full. We parked in the residential area and walked over. Join arrival... Pros 1) it was pretty large. I saw an area where you could host a band and dance floor. But it was closed. There was a shopping area, plant nursery, lots of areas to take picture, Koi fish pond, and of course the cafe. 2) We arrived at 12:50pm and was put on the wait list. They told us the wait was like 20 min. The hostess was very nice. The Cafe was packed. 3) our table, chairs, utensils, plates, cups were clean. 4) water tasted great. No funky or metal taste. 5) the home made chips was good. Perfectly crispy and seasoned. They gave it to us on the house because they made us wait a long time to get seated. That's what we were told. 6) we got the BBQ pork sandwhich ($19) and side of chicken ($9). BBQ pork sandwich kind of had that sloppy joJoe taste. You know the one in the can? That's how it tasted to us. It was still good. Bread was good. The side of chicken I got was really dry. But I ate it. I was hungry. The potato that came with the BBQ pork sandwich was good. 7) bathroom was in a separate building. There were 3 stalls in the women's bathroom and it was clean. Cons 1) we we told 20 min wait. Took them 50 minutes to seat us. There were people that came after us that got seated before us. 2) i checked with them twice to see where we were on the wait list. 1st time was told there were 2 more group ahead of us. The 2nd time I checked, I was told we were next to be seated. Two more mins, they said. Then I saw them seated 3 other groups as soon as they walked in! So i told my SO to go check. He checked and within a few more minutes, we were finally seated. 3) there was a group of 3 people that arrived after us. As soon as we were seated (after waiting 50 mins), they were seated right next to us. They didn't even have to wait! So not fair. 4) then the waitress came and took their orders before us. She probably didn't know who was seated first. But my point is, it was a looooong wait for us, while others were getting seated right away and orders taken right away. 5) they didn't check back with us to see if we needed anything else after our meal arrived. Right when we paid our tab, was when someone finally came and asked if we wanted water refills. Yes. Yes, we did. Conclusion For me, even though this was a cute restaurant and nice nursery, I won't be coming back here. The wait was way too long after being told it was only like 20 mins wait. Then to see those that arrived after us seated before us. And to see the people who arrived after us getting seated after 50 mins waiting, getting seated right away wasn't right. The waitress and 2 hostesses were very nice. But I won't be coming back here. I don't recommend this place. But feel free to try it. Your experience may be different from mine. read more

We walked around the nursery and shops after lunch. It was a very hot day....it would be nice to have some water stations to refill a water bottle. We rented the private area for my baby shower in February. The food was tasty and they brought a lot of it. The service was decent- very nice servers but seemed overwhelmed and couldn't keep up with refilling drinks or clearing off the tables. The ambiance was the best part of everything. Unfortunately, after the shower, multiple guests got severe diarrhea. We were also not aware that the gratuity was included in the tab so my husband paid an extra tip on accident. This restaurant is located next to/in the High hand nursery and is absolutely beautiful. There is seating inside (think large greenhouse) or outside amongst the nursery setting. It truly is beautiful and great for pictures! I tell everyone that this is definitely a trendy spot and I can see why. Both times that I have had lunch here, I went with the shrimp salad because it's so good. Lots of shrimp, lettuce, walnuts, cheese...it's just so good. I do think it should be on a larger plate as the salad gets everywhere. The house chips are good too but no better than regular potato chips. The pretzel appetizer is lacking but will do the trick when you are starving patiently waiting for the food to arrive. At Christmas, this place is decorated top notch and is very festive. I would recommend reservations as this place gets packed and typically has a line when they first open. TIP: Stop by the little shop where the bathrooms are and pick up some baked cookies. I had the Huevos Rancheros and hubby got the Farm fresh Benedict . For drinks we got Mimosa Carafe 1 Liter I like the fact that it's not premade they gave us the juices of our choice on the side . I don't like when my mimosas are too sweet so this was perfect for me . They are also dog friendly I seen a lot of cute furry friends. They have a kids menu and a changing table in the restaurant so very kid friendly as well . We really enjoyed our time and food here . So after having our late breakfast we still had not seen the whole property so we walked around more and looked at all the shops . We ended up at the new Brewery . This brewery was so nice everyone was super friendly and attentive . We got some drinks they don't just have beers they also have a cocktail menu . They had live music and it was a good vibe . We ordered the homemade potato chips with lemon artichoke dip and let me tell you they were delicious. Overall this was a great experience we literally felt like we spent most of our Sunday here . Well what a delightful brunch! First our server Enio was perfect! Friendly, kind, charming and spot on with service! We were celebrating a wedding and two birthdays and it could not have been better. There were delicious bellini's, beer and bloody Mary's to set the mood. We started with the pear pizza which was delicious and the pretzel with beer cheese, YOL (yum out loud)! My partner had the banana bread French toast with Carmel sauce...so sweet but sooo good. I had crab cakes benidict on a buttermilk biscuit. It was good but might have been improved with some textural difference between the biscuit and the crab cake. Maybe grilling the biscuit halves? My son has smoked brisket hash with over medium eggs and he liked it but was expecting more of a pulled meat texture not thin slices of brisket, almost like lunch meat. The breakfast burrito was very good and the avocado toast on the pretzel was stellar! After brunch we enjoyed the gardens, art and gift shops. It was really a perfect day! I've been here several times and it's always been very good but today something was off on the food-just not as good as the other times I've visited. I had the eggs Benedict and the biscuits were hard and crumbly. Also there was only about a teaspoon of hollandaise sauce on each half which isn't enough. Another beautiful Women's luncheon for our church. It's our second year in a row at HighHand. The Christmas decorations are absolutely beautiful. We start with a little shopping and the. Finish with a family style meal starting with the house chips and artichoke dip, salad with pistachios, Gorgonzola, raisins with a light creamy vinaigrette, followed by a fig pizza, hash and eggs Benedict.
