Went yesterday, on a Thursday about 11:15am for breakfast. Restaurant tucked away in the corner. The outdoor area is quaint and peaceful. Every table in front room was taken accept one in corner near door. A good sign. No host available to greet me. Waited about 5 minutes ... decided to call the restaurant to ask how to check in. Server came over once i phoned. Outdoor seating might be a weekend thing. Had the classic eggs Benedict w potatoes. The potatoes are very tasty, flavorful and soft. The Benedict's were decent. Perhaps my taste buds off. Rose latte was yummy. I love the fireplace in the backroom. The space had an over all peaceful feel to it. The area is rural which is why i visited Penryn. Suggestion, create sign to inform a host will be with you in a moment. So there is no guessing as to how to check in. Other than that! I might go back someday. read more

I wanted to like this place because I really like the Greenhouse in Citrus Heights. Honestly 3 stars is generous but that's because I have hope they can turn it around. Started off weird because they weren't full on a Tuesday morning and I had at least a 5 minute wait to be seated. I was the only one waiting and the sign said wait or "call to be seated" but there was no phone or number to call? Place was medium busy, but looked like it had the staff to cover all tables easily. Reader, they did not. I got seated (I was by myself) at a little two top near the door instead of the bar. Probably should've picked the bar. The table was wobbly and legs were stabilized by wadded up napkins (which didn't actually help but just looked janky). I picked this place specifically because they had shakshuka on the menu. Ordered it after a somewhat weird delay getting server's attention. More than 5 but less than 10 minutes later was informed they were out of shakshuka. Bummer on a not too busy Tuesday around 11am. No worries, ordered the syrniki with lemon crème and a latte. Nearly 30 minutes later the syrniki finally arrived. What. The. Heck? Already finished my latte and my water glass was nearly empty but was never offered a refill of either. Syrniki was plated beautifully. Greenhouse in CH also plates beautifully, so I was pleased to see it matched expectations visually. Except the pancakes were a little (maybe more than a little) overdone and more crispy than expected, and the cheese in the middle was drier than at the Greenhouse in CH. They were also a little smaller. The berry and lemon sauces were good, but on the astringent side. Maybe a little more powdered sugar would cut that acidity, but the dusting was sparing, to say the least. I ate it all but Greenhouse in CH does much better Syrniki, and it wasn't my first choice (but alas, no Shakshuka). Eventually, and I mean.... Eventually... my plate was taken and the check arrived. Only, when the waitress came with the machine to process the check, the bill was higher on screen than printed on paper. It was because the Syrniki was more expensive, so I understand. But it would be nice, given the absurd delays and their lack of the dish I originally ordered, if they had just comped the $2 difference. 90 minutes into my 45 minute meal break, I left, fairly disappointed. Would I go back? Maybe in a few months after they have these correctable issues ironed out. And only because their sister cafe in CH doesn't have these issues and is delightful. They can solve their problems with service, inventory, and table maintenance by doing better training, emphasizing kitchen-to-front of house communication, and buying some screw-on table leg knobs. But will they? Hope so. Because they could be great. If they tried harder. read more

Disappointing experience overall. I specifically came here to relax by the gorgeous fireplace I saw in their online photos, but it's actually tucked away in a closed-off area as I was told, only available for private events. It's very misleading to advertise that lounge area if the public can't use it. Despite having a 10:00 AM reservation, I was looked at but not greeted and stood at the entrance for a full minute before walking to the bar to ask for my table. We were sat next to the closed-off event space && the bar, even though a beautiful window table was open. When I asked to move there, I was told it was "reserved", yet a few minutes later, another party of two was seated there. To top it off, the lox bagel didn't taste fresh and I couldn't eat more than a bite. This place is easily located off the I-80 as you head up to N. Lake Tahoe. We stumbled across this restaurant after our soccer game. The restaurant can be seen off the freeway with plenty of parking. The menu appears to be Ukrainian influence. As you enter the restaurant you have to place your name on the waiting list, a bite antiquated system, but it works. We ordered the California smash burger served with French fries. The burger was cooked perfectly along with its fresh condiments of lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, onions, etc, overall, fresh veggies. The orange juice is fresh squeeze with pulp, just delicious! The syriniki was delicious light and cooked perfectly, just perfect. Overall great restaurant! read more

Greenhouse in Penryn is such a hidden gem. The atmosphere is cozy, calm, and elevated without feeling pretentious. You can tell they care about presentation and quality. I ordered the pistachio latte and it was beautiful. The rim was coated in crushed pistachios which gave it great texture and a subtle nutty flavor with every sip. It was smooth, balanced, and not overly sweet. My girlfriend got the white mocha and loved it. Rich, creamy, and done right. We also tried the chebureki and it was incredible. Crispy, golden, and fried perfectly without being greasy. The filling was flavorful and juicy, and the sauces on the side brought it together. It tasted fresh and intentional. The only hiccup was making the reservation. We tried calling all week since both the website and Instagram say to call, but no one ever answered. When we walked in, the hostess let us know reservations are made through Instagram, which was confusing since their page says to call. Thankfully she was kind and helped us secure a reservation on the spot. Aside from that communication issue, everything else was excellent. Great food, beautiful drinks, and a welcoming vibe. We gave Greenhouse Penryn another try because our first visit may have been too large of a group for them to handle (even though we were the only group there...). We came as a group of 3 and were immediately seated. We ordered a few different dishes to share and while the items we tried were fine, the whole experience was still lacking. It took forever for our food to come out. The Benedict, sandwich, and French toast were decent, but the pan fried European pancakes? So insanely inedible. We left most of it uneaten. I get that it's a cute brunch spot in a small town but I just don't see the appeal. Quite pricey with small portions too. read more

I've been seeing this place on Yelp when I look up brunch spots . I had been wanting to try it out . So glad I finally stopped by. The outside has this beautiful water fountain. The views are absolutely beautiful because there is so many trees out there. The inside was very elegant and organized. I got the pistachio latte which was really beautiful looking latte. It tasted delicious too. They had a lot of options in the menu that I wanted to try, but I went with the avocado toast. Their potatoes are very delicious as well. I got a little full, but I really wanted to try their pastries. Everybody working there was very nice and attentive. This place is legit! The food was extremely delicious and filling. We ordered two lattes and two avocado toasts, the cilantro avocado and the caprese avocado- both so yummy. We got the pistachio latte and the matcha latte which were also both so perfect on a rainy day. The service was excellent and I just love the indoor ambiance. I will say, they should turn off the water spouts out front during the wind and rain, as it was a bit of a chaotic scene out front with the shooting spouts blowing wildly in the wind. They told me it could be up to a 40 minute weight which I was willing to stay and enjoy the beautiful ambience outside and inside with a fresh iced tea.. I really, really wanted to give this place 5 stars. We drove 45 min to get here after seeing it on TikTok. Inside is beautiful! The food was delicious, and the presentation was stunning. However, the location was right off the freeway, which was a bummer given how cute it is inside. Outside dining would have been amazing if the road weren't so close. But what got them 3 stars was the service. They had half the tables full of people ending their meals. While our waitress brought us water promptly, she then disappeared for about 7-10 minutes before coming back. I kept wondering what was happening. 4 other ladies stood behind the counter, talking and laughing while we waited and waited. Once our waitress returned, there was no warm welcome, just "Are you ready, or do you need more time?" They were out of multiple things. We told her this was our first time, but no warmth, helpful directions or insight as to their restaurant. The girl wasn't rude just cold and uninterested in serving us. Honestly the whole staff gave those vibes. I wanted this to be a spot we would visit again, especially because we made the long drive. We can find great food all over this area. Came here this afternoon around 1:30pm for lunch. This is an expansive restaurant with a lounge area, beautifully designed and decorated. A place that's equipped for large families too. We had a 40 minute wait but we were informed there would be a wait and finally seated. We took about ten minutes to look through the menu and both decided on the tomato soup that came with a three cheese sandwich. The wait time on the food was incredibly long. Everyone seemed to have been waiting for quite a while. The food was average, but good. I would like to come back and try something from their cultural cuisine but most definitely not on a weekend. We came at 1:30 and left around 3:30pm. Aesthetically, it's beautiful but most definitely needs to be more efficient on getting the customer's fed and getting them out. We went to brunch on Sunday. It was beautiful and very busy. That being said our service was really slow. We sat for about 15 minutes before getting a greeting. Then when we ordered drinks it took over 10 minutes. Our group was like okay ask for anything we might need. After 20ish minutes we got our food, which was absolutely delicious. Came here for brunch with my sister and mom during the week, and it was my first time visiting. The place is absolutely gorgeous bright, open, and airy. It would be a beautiful spot for a baby or bridal shower (though I'm not sure if they host events). I started with a caramel latte, which was delicious and exactly what I needed to wake up. For brunch, I had the California Benedict, served with a salad and crispy potatoes. The eggs were poached perfectly, and while I'd never had a salad alongside a Benedict before, it surprisingly worked it was refreshing and made it feel like a true brunch experience. The service was excellent, especially considering it seemed like only two servers were working. We never felt rushed, which made the meal even more enjoyable. Such a lovely space to enjoy lunch! I can imagine how wonderful it would be for a special event, with so much light, open space and the high ceilings as well as the patio area. The main, smaller dining room also feels light and airy with large windows and lovely plants and art. The menu is Eastern European with more familiar choices such as hamburgers, avocado toast and crepes as well. My friend had a lovely crepe with a creamy chicken filling. I had more traditional Chicken Pelmeni, a sort of fried dumpling with mushroom sauce. We each had a macaroon for dessert ( one pistachio, on strawberry), which impressed my friend who bakes because they had "good legs." We went to the restaurant last Sunday. Admittedly, it was after the holiday and we were in somewhat of a time constraint due to our drive back to the Bay Area and avoid the traffic. Unfortunately, we waited for at least 20 minutes for the server to take our order after she gave us menus and despite asking a gentleman to help us get the server. It took another 30 minutes to receiver our food. The ricotta pancakes, 3 slightly larger than a silver dollar, were okay but at $18.00 a bit much. The egg dishes were okay also. Coffee refills were a challenge also. It is a large restaurant and the main room was open with no tables? I'll attribute this review to frustration and higher expectations. The ambiance was fantastic, nice decor and clean. The food was really good and a nice change from the normal menu items when you go out. It was hard to decide but we each went with an avocado toast. My friend got the scrambled egg avocado toast and added bacon based on waitress recommendation. I got the caprese avocado toast and after hearing the description of the scrambled eggs from the waitress, I added a scrambled egg. Benedict could use a bit more flavoring/ the yolk was so pale and surprisingly tasteless... Bacon on the side: $4 for 2 strips. Kinda pricey but reasonable. My baby just likes bacon... The Ambience gets more than 5 stars because a beautiful airy place with plants and water features and a view and a fireplace is very rare. The service was friendly and efficient. The food: my husband loved his generous "dumpling" soup. My "creamy" chicken crepe came with a surprise side of potatoes and a delicious fresh salad (I guess they forgot to put this on the menu!) BUT sadly, the crepe was not "creamy" as described in the title. There was no Béchamel sauce detected, nor Mozzarella cheese, that I could detect. Worse than that, it was lukewarm at best. I will say the pieces of dark chicken were generous & nice- if only it had been heated properly. I understand the coffee is quite good, so I will be back for that. read more

What a great facility to have these special events. I understand they also have a café open in the mornings only. I have not tried that out just yet. I came here over the weekend for my friend's birthday party. I was told the facility was recently upgraded. Facility was very clean and everything appeared to be well constructed, including the flooring, the walls, the restroom, etc. The staff was very attentive to our needs as well. They appeared to be have been understaffed, but that didn't stop them from making sure the food was out on time. The lighting made it very intimate with chandeliers hanging over the guesstimated 25- 30 foot A-framed ceiling , in combo with modern up lights. Very spacious I think our party was maybe about 100 guest or more. There was a great spread of tasty hors d'oeuvres. The main dinner was also very well made. Good quality meats, Great tasting paella, side dishes including fluffy mashed potatoes and broiled asparagus and salad. Great place events! read more
