I tried this spot this weekend for breakfast and it was great. It's a huge restaurant, with a big room in the back plus outdoor seating on the patio. The weather was a little chilly so we sat inside at a little table by the window with a nice pond view. The menu has so many choices! Different avocado toasts, savory and sweet breakfast too. Plus a lot of lunch/dinner options. I just went with the basic eggs and bacon and my friend got the classic eggs Benedict. We both subbed potatoes for fruit and it was a great bowl with berries and pineapple. My poached eggs were perfect as was my bacon, and the sourdough toast was yummy. My boyfriend, daughter, son in law brought me here for brunch. We always try to patronize different brunch restaurants. The place is nice we sat outside. This is the only good thing about this place. 1. The service was terrible from the time we sat down until we left. 2. The only person who enjoyed their food was my boyfriend he order the county skillet, however, he asked the waitress to bring ketchup and hot sauce before and after she brought his meal well she never brought it another waiter did. 3. My daughter, son-in-law and myself order the French toast, which was supposed to be made out of sourdough when they brought it out literally they toasted the sourdough and sprinkle powered sugar over it, we sent it back both me and my daughter ordered pancake instead they brought her two and me one. Then the waitress finally brought out the 2nd pancake and boxed it up. My son-in-law had his meal taken off the check. First time, but certainly not the last, I had dinner yesterday, Sept. 3 at Oak Leaf Cafe, since I have not yet meandered into Granite Bay's finer restaurants. Ambience, quality, portions and taste of their food, from what I ordered, was delicious. There were more high back comfortably padded booth tables than in most other places with booth dining. Even the rear banquet room is contemporary rustic distinctive and fully enclosed for desired privacy. This place is neither a typical expectation of "cafe", nor is the menu generic as expected in privately or even chain owned "cafes". It is polished casual, or otherwise an elevated neighborhood spot. If I could rate it more stars, I would. I evaluate on details, on separate components of a side, main entree, appearance on plate, my expectations of ideal textures, and how much is fresh made. This place even squeezes fresh oranges for juice at a price comparable to other places pouring it from some container. While even some, if not most upscale restaurants end up serving very common desserts, not Oak Leaf Cafe. There are maybe a handful of restaurants near or in Roseville serving as many choices of crepes as does Oak Leaf Cafe. The service is especially friendly and accommodating. Portions are generous and, given today's rising prices which quality restaurants cannot avoid, I enjoyed baby back ribs (oven baked of course as only sparse places can spend hours and hours plus special equipment just for wood smoked meats). The generous fries were cut just right, ideal crisp and slight crunch exterior and soft interior. The other side was a generous bowl of cole slaw with firm, crunchy and crispy lightly coated with dressing, not swimming in it as in so many other places. Most of their customers like coleslaw dressing on a sweeter side which is why it is housemade that way. I just happen to prefer more savory seasoned dressings, instead of sweet. Choice of housemade soup or crisp salad is included. However, I asked for a vegetable in lieu of a salad as coleslaw was already included. Even the al dente broccoli had flavor as I detected a bit of garlic. Most other restaurants just serve plain tasting steamed or boiled side broccoli or other vegetables. Only because I have not had baby back ribs in a very long time, I ordered them it for dinner. But there are several other entrees I intend to try next time including open fire grilled Rib Eye steak. Try their Dubai deep chocolate cake with different layers of textures. Any other restaurant, at least those I have already patronized, would have charged at least twice more than what I ended up paying. I was a cosmopolitan city based dining out columnist and foodie before moving to Roseville. Most of my adult life was eating out as I literally hate to bother with home cooking. My advice applies for all of us choosing to publicly rate wherever we dine out. For those whose star ratings are consistently lower than those giving some places top scores, it is a more mature, civilized, ethical tactic to first let the managment know which components of the service and food you found unsatisfactory and identify the specifics. If they seem unresponsive, then engaging in public reviews may be your way to warn others or to force restaurant management to reconsider making changes if they want. Just about every restaurant nowadays is struggling with increasing overheads and constant human staff transitions. If you expect consistent uniformity, then it will be achieved when most, if not all aspects of dining out are controlled by AI robotics from cooking to serving. But more personalized amenities may be omitted. I chuckle at low reviews for many restaurants because reviewers lack more sophisticated finesse in evaluating restaurants by their own preferred image and distinctions. Comparing them with other restaurants is totally unfair unless that restaurant brand seeks to compete against similar genre type restaurants. I am always dining at what is considered upscale and occasionally country or neighborhood casual, but avolid fast food places with questionable ingredients. Oak Leaf Cafe just extended its hours for dinner and adjusted its menu to accommodate. read more

He said that it was one of the best brunch places he's been to in a while and especially liked the tall glass of orange juice, which seemed fresh squeezed. Go check it out if you're in the area! The host was friendly and welcoming, but unfortunately the service went downhill from there. Our server didn't seem very interested in being there and wasn't particularly attentive. It took about 30 minutes for our food to arrive, and when it finally did, I had to ask for utensils. She never checked on our table, offered drink refills, or asked how everything was. The only time she came back was to drop off the check. As for the food, it was average at best. Nothing really stood out, and some of the potatoes and bell peppers were burnt. While it wasn't terrible, it definitely wasn't worth the wait. And yes, I finished my food despite not loving it, food is expensive these days, and I'm not about to let it go to waste. Looks smaller than it is when you walk in. The dining space really opens up in the back of the restaurant. The view is really pretty too! We had a large group (about 15 people) and they seated us in the back room by ourselves, which was fantastic because we also had 4 small children in our party and they were able to stretch their legs without interrupting other tables or parents having to forgo their meals so they could supervise the kids playing outside. Food came out quite quickly for us being a decent size group, and most of us really liked our plates! I'd say, out of a group our size, only 2 people were unimpressed (which is good odds) and they felt the place is worth another try with a different entree. Staff was friendly. I went here for Sunday brunch to celebrate my aunt's birthday. We had a larger group of 12 and called ahead but they said they did not do reservations. I arrived a bit earlier than the crew and we were graciously seated in the private back room by the owner, I presume, which had a view and private entrance onto the patio. There was one large table that fit our entire group and also a smaller table on the side which my kids dubbed the kid's table and didn't allow the adults to sit at. Their menu was quite large with lots of options to please everyone. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and pancakes and waffles "to share" with the table, but really for me to not look like a big back! There was a kid's menu as well and my girls devoured their chicken tenders and fries and their Jr. breakfast plate. Food was very good and this could have been a 5 star review, however I think we were forgotten about by the staff since we were in the back room. Out of sight out of mind I guess! It already started badly when the server brought out most of the drinks but not the mimosas that were ordered. Understandable if the drinks were poured at the bar instead. But 20 min later, the server came back and said they were out of the guava juice and asked us to pick a different flavor. Then I didn't get my mimosa for another 15 after that! Also, we waited about 45-60 minutes for our food to come out and it came out sporadically with no rhyme or reason. Not in the order it was ordered, even the same dish for two people sitting side by side came out at 10 min apart. The bummer was one person ordered an eggs Benedict with no onions, which was the last plate to come out after an hour, and there were onions in his side of potatoes. It was way too late by then to wait for a new one to be made and truly disappointing. Unfortunately the service was lacking that day and the owner avoided eye contact and ignored me when I said good bye and thank you as I was leaving. This was our first time and the menu is what intrigued us. They have a vast menu for breakfast and lunch with many versatile options. When we arrived, we were greeted, sat and attended to right away. When our food arrived it sealed the deal. I ordered the Monterey Chicken Sandwich and fries (see photo). The presentation was great. We probably get take out from the GB location once per month. While I enjoy the food, it is overpriced. The service is horrendous (one waitress in particular). She is consistently rude, dismissive, and in no hurry to help customers. One time my husband picked up food and on the white board for all customers to see was "hustle for those tips. Cash money!" While I totally appreciate working for tips, it perhaps would be better to not put this statement for all to se. Not many places are open on Xmas Eve, but the Oak Leaf Cafe is! I asked my family to rate their dishes so let's get to it! I'll start with mine, the pro fit avocado toast. (Egg whites, applewood sausage and avocado topped with micro greens and a side of hashbrowns. 4/10: Unfortunately there wasn't any flavor whatsoever. I added a bunch of Cholula and Tabasco to get some flavor- and I never use hot sauces. The portion of hash browns was quite small. What I loved was the amount of egg whites and sausage. My sister in law even commented "it was the tallest avocado toast she's seen". The ultimate omelette 10/10: very good fillings to egg ratio. It's wasn't mostly egg like some omelettes are. Crab Benedict 8/10. California Benedict (w/o avocado) 8/10. Artichoke omelette 9/10, would have been a 10 but again the hash brown portion was quite small. She was a regular and we had not been in this area for quite some time, The location offered a nice view overlooking the pond and a pleasant place to talk and eat some good food. The two ladies had crab benedict and I had a meatloaf lunch. The two ladies took home half of their meal for later that nite. I consumed the meatloaf. You can stop searching now. This is the place you're looking for. I typically start my hunt for a breakfast spot with the search criteria "best pancakes" and then sort through the results. I didn't even do that with Oak Leaf but, lo and behold, I found them here! I was looking for a nice place for breakfast for a semi-large (7 people) diverse group of older friends who prefer nicer-than-average places. From the pictures and reviews on Yelp, this looked like just the place. And it is. From the moment we arrived, Nikohl took great care of us. I was relieved that it didn't have a large group of people standing outside of it, like some restaurants tend to have on Sunday mornings, and it's so pretty and clean and relaxing inside. Everybody in the group commented that there are multiple things on the menu that they would like to order, another good sign. I ordered the chilaquiles because I enjoy them so much. One of the people at my table had never even heard of them, so I described the dish to her, and she decided to order them too. Nikohl told her, "They'll change your life." And she was right. My friend said afterward that from now on, she is going to order those everywhere she goes, but I cautioned her that they won't always be as good as they are here. After I finished my chilaquiles, I was full but not fulfilled. I convinced my buddy to split an order of pancakes with me so that I wouldn't feel like a glutton. I asked Nikohl for the pancakes when she passed by to remove dirty dishes from our table. She didn't look at me funny or ask me with bewilderment, "You're going to eat them NOW?" I appreciated her reaction. She returned moments later with 2 beautiful, hot pancakes, sprinkled with powdered sugar and a melting butter ball in the center. That plate was a work of art and I regret that I didn't snap a picture of it before I destroyed it. I handled the little stainless steel sidecar pitcher of syrup and my heart soared when I felt that it was hot. Not just warm, mind you, but hot. How magnificent! Some restaurants serve room-temp syrup and that's just unforgivable. I politely ask for it to be warmed up and I sometimes get The Look, as if I'm insulting the chef. But this hot syrup is the mark of a superb kitchen, and I was absolutely drunk with joy when Nikohl passed by a few minutes later to check on me. I gushed about the pancakes and the hot syrup and told her that I had half a mind to march into the kitchen and hug the cooks. She smiled but with a look of concern, like she was wondering if the kitchen door could be locked from the inside and if she should go warn them as a precaution. We have been going here for years. The last three times we felt the food wasn't as good as prior visits. This last time we ordered the different clubs, only 1 came with cheese and none of them came with the bacon. My bread was toasted and part of the crust was too hard to bite into. My wife and I are new to the area and we loved this place! The ambiance, employee vibes and value of the food was perfect! The interior is clean, modern with indoor and outdoor seating.
