New boba shop, must try. Being a boba fanatic, I had to try this new place. After going to all the usual shops in the SGV, it was time to switch it up. I got an array of drinks since I was on a boba-run for the fambam. I got a taste of everybody's drinks, cause why not
Drinks - mango mango, royal milk tea, red guava, matcha matcha, oreo garden, and pina colada
The mango mango was delish and refreshing; however a tad too sweet, highly suggest cutting the sugar in half or maybe even quarter sweet
Royal milk tea -it's not your usual coffee-based milk tea and more of an HK milk tea instead. Got 100% sweet and to be honest, it was just the right amount of sweetness/not too milky. And it was very fragrant!
Matcha matcha - tastes like your typical matcha smoothie; however, not many places can nail that nice balance of creaminess. I enjoyed it a lot but wish there was maybe 1/2-1 tsp more of matcha..it was missing that "oomph of matcha" punch.
Red guava - so glad decided to select this wildcard drink..because not a lot of boba shops I've been too serves RED guava...this was such a unique taste..if anyone ever tried Kerns canned guava drink, it tastes EXACTLY like it but not super sweet. It was a blended drink, so the sweetness mellowed out. But yes this was literally a taste of nostalgia!! Grew up drinking Kerns, and this drink does the job. I will definitely get this drink again the next time I'm in the area!!
Oreo garden - tastes like your typical oreo milk smoothie, but glad that it's an option...I've only been to 2 other places that serves an oreo blended drink. It was a little too sweet (but i did get 100% sweetness so that makes sense). I wish there were more bits of oreos in the drink, but I guess this is a personal preference because I'm a texture-eater. Definitely would recommend maybe 75% sweetness.
Pina colada - I thought I was blown away by the red guava drink..but this drink topped it! I know what most are thinking....it's just pineapple and coconut blended together---which is true. BUT I hardly see this as a typical drink at a boba shop :X I really liked it!! It wasn't too tart; more sweet than tart from the pineapple. Going back to being a texture-eater..I enjoyed the grainy bits of blended pineapple xD.
Overall, I would rate this place a 4.2/5
They're still new and have a soft menu so far..but definitely give this place a shot if you're in the area :) There are definitely a few kinks to work on, but definitely consider on stopping. I believe they're also offering free toppings for the time being (sadly, forgot to take a picture of the menu ) the decor is also cute, simple, and refreshing. Hoping in the future that they'll be able to make it like a small hub for studying/hanging out.
...and I dont know about yall but I've been on #teamcrystalboba since this topping gotten popular and this place has it (i only know like 4 shops that carries crystal boba...so it's nice to add another shop to my list of go-to boba shops that carries crystal boba aka white pearl aka agar agar. read more
