I have lived in Eugene for three years, and I have never had a meal this bad since moving here. I don't have a sensitive stomach at all, but both my boyfriend and I got strong stomach aches from the food. I got the marinated steak plate, and he got the vegetarian plate, so it must be something in their Mac and cheese. To top it off, it was $11 for a "regular" plate. The large mixed plate of Huli Huli Chicken and Mauna Loa Chicken with a side of Mac salad and white rice consisted of a symphony of aromas and flavors that brightened a dark week of melancholy. This restaurant provided a taste of the Central Pacific Islands that, for a brief period, tricked my senses and made me forget I was in Eugene, Oregon. It was bad enough that with 20 minutes notice my pickup order hadn't been started but the cherry on top was when I was clearly not happy having to listen to the man with a well groomed beard who was making my food shake his head and laugh at me while telling his kitchen staff SO THAT I COULD HEAR how I literally had no patience. I actually at one point responded (that's how loud it was) and said I feel like 20 minutes was plenty of patience. I would like a call from a manager and would like to take this further. No, this isn't as good as being in Hawaii (how could it be?) but I would say the taste isn't too far off what I experienced there. Ordered two medium Huli chickens and one small in drive thru on Sunday 02/23 at the W 11th location. $28 with a tip. Worst yet! All three were dry shredded burnt pieces of chicken. Must have been the bottom of the pan. Nothing more than scraps, literal scrapping the bottom. Called the store, put on hold, finally after quite a while, I got sorry but not sorry, someone has to get the bottom of the pan. Won't be eating there anytime soon. read more

Live right by here so eat here a lot of times when I am to lazy to cook. Really good Hawaiian food for a decent price. I always split the large sized one because it is actually the better value. Very spacious inside so there is almost always plenty of seating. And parking lot has room for a lot of vehicles although the parking lot can be tough getting into at times thanks to the median on coburg road and people blocking the entrance waiting to get onto coburg road. Have never had a problem here with the food and has been good enough to keep me coming back. Only reason for the loas of a star is because every time I go in no matter what time of the day they are always out of pork. Other than that good food and location. read more

Went to Hawaiian Time today and while waiting for my food watched the girl upfront tie up trash bags and take them outside to the dumpster and back in to proceed working delivering plates to tables, stocking silverware, and helping more customers all without washing her hands after she was just pushing down the trash to make it fit in the bag and take it to the dumpster. Doesn't make me all too confident in the cleanliness of the environment in which my food is being cooked. read more

Not a true Hawaiian plate lunch place. I ordered the Huli Huli Chicken not looking at the menu real close. When I got my food I though they made a mistake. The food I got looked like shoyu chicken. The person working the counter said that's Huli Huli chicken. It's basically boiled terriyaki chicken. Not very good. If you are ever in Hawaii and see row's of outdoor BBQ's roasting half chicken pieces over kiwae wood. Stop and get some. It is the best chicken ever. This place should have chicken katsu, loco moco, and spam musibi if it wants to be an authentic Hawaiian plate lunch place. We are Pacific Islanders so we're always looking for good chicken and rice. The hostess/cashier seemed very rude. She saw us struggling with the menu and didn't suggest anything for us. Also, there were flies just looming around the register so I didn't want to imagine how many might be looming in the kitchen. It was ok. I had the #3. I paid 7.95 & it was filling. I ate half & am taking the rest home for tomorrow. The plate consisted of teriyaki chicken resting on a bed of rice plus another scoop of rice & a scoop of macaroni salad. Very carb heavy. The Mac salad was swimming in mayo & a ton of pepper. I thought it should of had less mayo & a lot less pepper. Maybe add some red onion. It was very bland, but I added some hot sauce to it!! That jazzed it up! The chicken was good, but there was no extra sauce. I guess next time before I leave - I will give it a squirt of teriyaki sauce. I have only had the Mauna Lua chicken and I think it is very good. Portions are huge but most of it is rice and macaroni salad. I really like the Mac salad so that's ok. Flavors are good and I like to add the seaweed. My only knock on this place is the price. read more
