Fantastic food here, I absolutely love coming an I think I honestly do once a week! I get the ribs every time with an extra scoop of Mac and I just feel set every time! I can usually eat that for 2 days and it's probably one of my favorite meals to look forward to! Definitely will be coming by tomorrow or Wednesday!! The workers are also very nice. I'm a DoorDasher and I know a lot of Dashers can be fairly annoying, but everyone here is kind and they give me the same grace I give them. This place is good. Not much in terms of variety, but their food is solid, quick-service Hawaiian fare. My MIL asked to have her beef cooked well-done and the cashier replied that their beef is pre-cooked? So that was a little unsettling. I think the off putting part about this place was that everything felt sticky. The floor. The counter of the beverage machine. The trash can. Haven't been back in a long time and was craving Hawaiian food. Came in and ordered to go. We got extra sauces & such as the owner replied to my last review about that so loved having extra sauce to bring home for the rice and meat. I got half steak half short ribs plate with rice and Mac salad. The Mac salad was the only good part of my meal. Ugh we were SO disappointed by this round of food. The short ribs were mainly fatty pieces, the steak pieces were tough and dry. The meal didn't scream Hawaiian food it was just like bbq with limited flavor. The rice was dry clumps. No fluff to it or sticky.. just a clump. It was so disappointing. We also got some chicken plates and those were better, but it was either tiny pieces or HUGE chunks of chicken, like it was hacked up cutting. Nothing wrong just really was either bite sized or like a 3" chunk to chew on lol Overall we were left disappointed by our meals. Updating my review, because they definitely deserve 5 stars. I eat here regularly, and have since they've opened. I have never had a bad experience, from the food to the service. The menu is simple-chicken, steak, or kalburibs. They have rice, mac salad, side salad, dole whip, musubi, and drinks. For as many times as I've ordered to go (ordering on their website is super easy), I've never once had a wrong order. I'm sure it's bound to happen at some point because mistakes happen, but I'm still very impressed that my order has been 100% correct every time so far. The crew is always friendly and efficient. The order is ready when they say it will be. Portions are plentiful and the price is reasonable. I actually really like the keiki chicken plate, it's a great value for small appetites. The food is tasty and consistent. The spicy spam katsu musubi is super good, and I haven't had an issue with the musubi since my first one, which I thought could've been just an off day. Food was mediocre. Rice was old. But my main issue after working in restaurants for over 20 years was the cleanliness. The restaurant was filthy, the employees weren't washing their hands, mixing the lemonade on the counter in the dining room after sweeping with the dirty broom and without washing hands in between. 2 of my family members were sick as soon as we got home. Food or drink I don't know. But they need to deep clean that place immediately. I got all bones all my meal. Left hungry and unsatisfied. Over priced food for what it is. Shaka Dole Whip [Springfield OR] Had aloha for lunch and ordered the Keiki Plate w/ ribeye and the Keiki Plate w/ chicken. It was perfect size to get us through our drive home back to California. The kids meals came with rice and mac salad. I also ordered a spam musubi. Food was just okay... we have a lot of Hawaiian inspired food places in the Sacramento area so this place was nothing special. This is a counter quick service restaurant. The young cashier was patient with us as we couldn't decide what to order. She was hardworking too. She wiped down tables when there are no customers at the counter. The restaurant was clean. I've only ever gotten Hawaiian Island Grill on DoorDash, but it's one of my go-to restaurants to order from so wanted to show some love on Yelp as well! I've tried all three of their meats before (chicken, beef, and kalbi) and they're all delicious. The chicken might be my favorite, but everything is flavorful and fresh. The keiki meal is great when you want a more reasonable amount of food to eat in one sitting. Their 2+ meat plates are huge in my opinion, but I love having leftovers! On April 15 @ 6:52 I picked up my order of teriyaki chicken. I could hardly wait to get home and have some great food. When I started eating I noticed a number of black charcoal like clumps, which tasted really bad! The number increased, so I decided to count them-60 pieces!!! And then under a small layer of chicken-the tray was filled with rice. I would like the name of the person cooking, so I could ask if they are cooking so I could go somewhere else! I got 1/2 the amount of chicken than the order before. I want my money back and I don't want that person dishing up my orders. What -was the tip too little? I went here for the first time with my friend today. There were a lot of people considering it was Memorial Day which told us it was probably pretty good. The person who took our order was super nice and worked quickly in the busy restaurant. I got the chicken and steak place, a dole whip, and a strawberry lemonade. They were all so good! The chicken was tender and juicy but could use a tiny bit more flavor. The steak had a great flavor and was cooked well. The meat was a bit fatty overall. The rice and macaroni salad were also good. The dole whip was refreshing and tangy, and the strawberry lemonade was tasty. The floor was a bit sticky as were the tables. I wiped ours down with a Clorox wipe and it was still sticky. We're ADDICTED to Hawaiian Island Grill restaurant. So far we've had the chicken & steamed white rice plate. We haven't tried the beef but we heard from friends that it's fabulous. What we love is the staff! The Customer Service is out of this world! They even remember our names. I don't know how they do it! It's a casual ambience atmosphere. Just come as you are in jeans and have an Aloha spirit and they will warmly greet you and give you the best food ever. I do think they are a little expensive for the size of portions of meat that you get. But we can't help it, we're already addicted, so we pay the price! Definitely try the Shoyu soy sauce on your chicken & rice. It's like regular soy sauce, but lighter in color & flavor and has a slight tangy, sweetness, a true Hawaiian flavor. I loved the katsu musubi, but the regular spam musubi wasn't that great. They could have grilled it in oyster sauce, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Recently was visiting someone close to me in the hospital several days in a row, and we both wanted decent food. I happened to notice a new place to eat along the road, so I looked them up on trusty Yelp. I am so glad I did. The reviews helped make my decision before even entering the door. I must admit we actually had this a few days in a row it was so good. The first day we had someone bring it up. One of us had the chicken, and the other had the rib eye beef plate. The next time was pretty much the same thing, except we added the Korean ribs. This is now one of my favorite Hawaiian food joints. Only bummer, I do not live near by. The portions are enough for two meals, so we both had some tasty leftovers for the next day. (Side note: I appreciate the convenience that comes from using only disposables, but I would love to see reusable options for dining in for a more eco-friendly option.) For $4 more, I added spam musubi and a drink (a soda fountain, plus several flavored teas and lemonades.) The spam musubi was fine, the spam was slightly undercooked. A bit underwhelming honestly. I tried this spot when they first opened, got a combination plate and a teriyaki with kalbi plate. They actually gave me the wrong plate though and I got ribeye instead of kalbi, ehh. Rice is fine, not the main star here for sure but the mac salad was really underwhelming and bland, definitely needs tweaking. The meat was fine, nothing really special to it honestly. My mom got the 3 meat plate, and a lot of it was just fat, I've read some reviews online too that claim the same. Fat is inevitable but consistent reviews about the fat are deterring me from giving it a 4. The latest addition to the Hawaiian food list in Springfield, it falls in the "decent" category. We ordered a Teriyaki Chicken Plate and a Ribeye Steak plate. Both meats were tender and had great flavor. The portions were decent for the price. The rice is well made, and they give you some under the meat as well as a scoop on the side. The Mac Salad needs a little work. It's a bit bland, but the Mac is cooked right (not mushy, still has bite). They offer a variety of juices and sodas to choose from. They also offer Dole Whip - which I know lots will come just for that. The inside of the restaurant looks nice with simple decor. I came here on a Sunday night around 7pm and was surprised to see it was pretty busy! A lot of people waiting for takeout orders. I used their online system to order ahead and it was ready a few minutes after I got there. The chicken was super good and I really liked how it came without sauce so you can add it yourself to your liking. The teriyaki sauce they had was great, it had a citrus flavor to it which was really nice. A bit different than normal teriyaki. I also loved their mac salad. Noodles were soft but still a bit chewy and it had the perfect amount of mayo. Employees were super friendly. The restaurant had a good amount of tables inside if you want to eat there. I also liked how small and simple the menu was. This is good for me since I'm pretty indecisive when it comes to ordering. Mac salad with noodles to the point they are mush, and an amount of mayonnaise my aunties would banish me from ever stepping foot in a kitchen again. Next up we have the grisly chicken and beef. Each had decent enough flavor to count as teriyaki, to bad it over shadowed by an ungodly amount of grisly in both the beef and chicken...in order for me to gotten that much fat and connective tissue the quality of meat has to be funky.
