(Update: 08/03/18): Still manages to keep their five stars. I just have to mention that the garlic fried chicken is intoxicating. A sweet, garlicky, fried plate of goodness that left me debating if I should order more. Still can't beat the price too and for how much (and delicious) the food is. The best Hawaiian food hands-down with friendly staff/owners. A simple food truck hides some tasty treats like saimin, lomi-lomi salmon, pork lau lau, poke, and the like. Served with a small and tasty bit of chocolate mochi - usually a spongy Japanese rice cake pounded to soft oblivion - everything is served in generous portions. All not disappointing and easily destroying other so-called Hawaiian restaurants in the area. A simple white board and Facebook post shows the menu; a daily-rotating display of island delicacies. If you can hunt them down, then you'll find yourself with some truly authentic and tasty Hawaiian food. There is a small seating area with a heat lamp if necessary, but all good is boxed to-go. Be sure to try the chili water with your food. A tangy and spicy condiment served everywhere on the islands of Hawaii that goes well with almost everything.

The food here is delicious! I got the beef teriyaki and the chicken katsu (on special). They were cooking the katsu fresh, so I had to wait about 5-10 minutes, and it was well worth it! It was crispy and delicious! The beef teriyaki was amazing, too--a really great blend of sweet and salty. A lot of Hawaaiian places can go too much into the sweet, which I don't like as much, so I really appreciated how well-balanced the beef was. Another thing to mention is that the staff was incredibly kind, offering suggestions and working with me to create a plate that had everything I wanted. I really appreciated them and will make it a point to visit this food truck more often!

After a long wait of making myself go over to the campus area... especially for Every Day Kine Grindz, my son & I trekked from the westside over to give it a go. Parking could be a pain and might have to find street parking. The truck stands out with it it light green color. We were greeted by a nice young man, who was every energetic and enthusiastic of the food and was great to talk to while waiting for food to come. We ordered the chicken teriyaki and Kahlua pork with all mac. I have never tried spam, so we also gave the musubi a try. We did have to wait some time for the chicken to be ready, for the wait we were offered another musubi, awesome customer service. The musubi was surprisingly awesome and I am glad my first venture into spam was a good experience, otherwise it was doomed from ever being on my plate again. The chicken teriyaki was also good, only thing was kahlua pork was a bit disappointing, because mostly had salt profile, but no smoke. The mac was amazing, one of the top ones I have eaten. Overall the experience was good, as well as the food. Was nice to sit outside on a semi-warm day and just eat good food. I will definitely go back to try some of their specials they have from time to time!

My MIL asked to have her beef cooked well-done and the cashier replied that their beef is pre-cooked? So that was a little unsettling. I think the off putting part about this place was that everything felt sticky. The floor. The counter of the beverage machine. The trash can. And the bathroom had a definite funk to it...like, it smelled like it used to be a Subway (if that makes sense). The food wasn't necessarily enough to make me want to go running back.

Visited Oakshire to get some food and found this Hawaiian truck we hadn't tried yet…read more We were excited to see a menu that was a little different from the other 2 Hawaiian trucks in town and a very reasonable price ($15 got 2 scoops of rice, slaw or Mac salad and a huge portion of the main protein). I tried the Cod Katsu plate because I have never seen a fish katsu before and was intrigued. This was a VERY good dish. The Katsu crust was super crunchy and held up well to the deliciously spicy katsu sauce and the juice from the slaw without ever getting soggy. The fish was nice and juicy and cooked perfectly. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough katsu sauce and I had to request more. My wife tried the Pork Bulgogi plate. It was very flavorful and tasty but the meat was so full of fat and gristle it was hard to eat. She tossed half the meat, that's why I took off the 5th star from this review. We'll definitely try them again, we'll be sharing the garlic tofu dish next time!

The profile looked pretty cool so we decided to go there for a drink. Once inside, it was pretty dark which is typical for a Tiki Bar. The decor was very good and there was a lot of it around. My fave was the mermaid skeleton above our seats. The drinks options were plentiful and they even had jello shots for a bargain price (we had a few of these for good measure!). I had The Monkey's Paw classic drink and another in our party had The Invisible Man drink. Each was lovingly prepared by the bartender who was super cool with the prep and conversations we had with him. I loved walking around and looking at all the decor on the walls and ceiling. There's a lot to see. There's even a door that leads to a courtyard with several food trucks ready to serve you. There is a stage near the entrance for bands and a small dance floor. I would love to return one evening to check out the atmosphere and do a little boogeying! Give this place a try. It's a well done Tiki Bar and one of the better ones I've been to.
