    Kids breakfast
    Erin E.

Definitely your typical greasy spoon type breakfast place. We had a group of 6 so we had a bit of a longer wait. The kids breakfast portion is huge! I got the red velvet pancake special which was a fun version of pancakes except for the cream cheese icing that came with it, I was glad I asked for it on the side. Our waitress was super friendly. The rest of our party got sandwiches. My husband didn't love his chicken fried steak sandwich but over all we had a good experience! It's definitely on the list of another breakfast place we can hit up!

A friend of mine recommended that I go to Buddy's for one of my favorite meals - Chicken Fried Steak with Gravy. They only serve breakfast (all day) and lunch. And the Chicken fried steak (Love Me Tender on the menu) that they serve is breakfast style with eggs and potatoes and bread choice. I ordered that with crispy hash browns, over medium eggs, and a biscuit. Nice plating... and a tasty chicken fried steak too (although you can't see it under that excellent gravy (large chunks of sausage in it!). Hash browns were good, as were the eggs. The biscuit is HUGE... literally bigger than my fist. And with some butter and apple butter, it was good. Almost too much, lol! Service? Top of the line... the young ladies that waited on me were excellent, with good follow up too!

The cutest diner! So much wonderful decoration that gives that amazing retro feel. Buddy's truly has the best breakfast and lunch in town. My whole family loves it here! You'll most likely have a short wait due to them being so popular but it's worth it. The servers are the most absolute kind angels who always brighten our day when we're there. When you order a cocoa or coffee it will be served in a cool mug every time! The food is always perfect, the stuffed French toast is my favorite, but I've never had food from Buddy's that I didn't love. Definitely a staple in Eugene that is a must try!

Like a trip back to the good food and fun dining experiences of days gone by. The menu is chock full of excellent diner classics. All served by wonderful waitresses making sure the coffee cups are always full. Looking forward to stopping in for a cheeseburger and milk shake. Who could ask for anything more? For those interested in more there are plenty of great options on the menu.

Came in for a quick fuel up during our roadtrip from CA- Portland and did not disappoint. Truly mom and pop feel, the diner gives that home feel and the staff was super friendly. We sat at the diner and shared the chicken fried steak with a side of biscuit with honey butter.

This was my first visit to Buddy's and I loved the decor and the diner feel as soon as I walked in. I ordered California Benedict for breakfast to go. I couldn't miss the gigantic cinnamon rolls in the oven and also took on home for my family. The benedict was delicious and the portion size was huge! The hashbrowns that accompanied it were so delicious. It was one of the best benedicts that I have had in Eugene.

First timers to this diner and we've been missing out on something great. Food was fantastic, service was impeccable, and old school diner vibes. You know it's good when the establishment is packed and the people keep coming. It's definitely a family place. We saw someone giving the children stuffed animals to make them feel special and probably to keep them occupied. This place gives you good feels and makes you want to support this local business.

Buddy's Diner is the epitome of the classic American Diner. With nostalgic memorabilia covering every surface, the obliging and serious waitstaff, and the excessive portion sizes of traditional American breakfast foods, there is something so familiar and comforting about Buddy's. There are no frills, no razzle dazzle, this is a simple and straightforward place to quickly get a filling hot meal. The food isn't exceptional, but it is just right. Diner's are something that uniquely exist within the borders of the USA and it's one American tradition that I proudly participating in.

Our waitress offered to replace/sub her potatoes she didn't want with a veg. Sweet!

We took our time with the menu as there were so many delicious-looking options. We ended up splitting two dishes so we could both have some variety. We did the French toast with a berry compote and ricotta topping and the veggie omelette with hash browns and toast. Every single thing was so good! The eggs were cooked well, the hash browns were crispy, and the French toast was perfectly made. The ricotta and berry compote was also fantastic. We were absolutely stuffed and could not be happier. The bill was also much lower than we expected, so the food is pretty affordable compared to other diners in town. I think they moved into this space recently as I remember another restaurant being here before. That restaurant was much more territorial with their parking spots and had signs everywhere telling people not to park there if they weren't customers, but those signs are gone now which is nice. Everyone here was super friendly and lovely. I love the mission of this restaurant and will definitely be back to continue supporting them in the future!

We decided to try Abilities for breakfast...the homemade cinnamon rolls caught my eye...unfortunately they didn't have any on this day...but I didn't seem to mind. Everything else was so delicious. I usually make everyone order something different so we can share & try many different dishes. It's been 3 months ago so I don't recall everything that was ordered.. I remember the gravy being delicious, chicken fried steak.. sweet cream pancakes, eggs Benedict. All delicious...they also have a bakery...we didn't buy anything but decided to go back again before I headed back to California. Again everything was delicious . I remember my son ordered pastrami and was very pleased. This time we grabbed so baked goods to bring home. I purchased a loaf of sourdough very reasonably priced and a young man offered to have it sliced for me...I also took mom home a muffin & some scones she throughly enjoyed. We were told the owner adopted children with disabilities and wanted to have a place where they could work...this is an amazing woman! She also supports the community with a barrel to place clothes in or donations for less fortunate. I will continue to support this business everytime im in Eugene...look forward to stopping in on my next trip this February!!

As a local, it truly breaks my heart to write this review. I always want to support our…read moreneighborhood businesses, but I have to be honest about my recent breakfast experience here. The Atmosphere I'll start with the positives: the decor is absolutely awesome. As a discophile, I spent half my time admiring the vinyls lining the walls. The model aircraft suspended from the ceiling and the upside-down table add a unique, cool character to the place that you just don't find elsewhere. Visually, it's a 5-star experience.. The Food & Drink Unfortunately, the meal itself was a different story. The Coffee: I'm a black coffee purist, but this was beyond horrible. It tasted completely "burnt"--to the point where I actually had to add sugar just to make it drinkable. Breakfast Burrito: This was, quite frankly, uneatable. I'm not sure if it was the black beans, the eggs, or something else in the mix, but the flavor was horribly off. Hash Browns: They were completely flavorless and added nothing to the plate. Jalapeños: I'm a huge fan of sauces and peppers, but somehow even the side of jalapeños was bad. On a smaller bright note, the English muffin was good (though it's hard to ruin one of those), and the water tasted great. I honestly can't recommend the water enough, which is a strange thing to say about a diner visit. Final Verdict I cannot recommend this spot for breakfast in good conscience. I hope I get the chance to come back and try their dinner menu to see if it's an improvement, but for now, the great decor just isn't enough to make up for the kitchen's performance.
