I went here for breakfast with a friend yesterday and it was fantastic! We sat down immediately and our waitress came over a minute later. She brought us the menus and some water. We took our time with the menu as there were so many delicious-looking options. We ended up splitting two dishes so we could both have some variety. We did the French toast with a berry compote and ricotta topping and the veggie omelette with hash browns and toast. Every single thing was so good! The eggs were cooked well, the hash browns were crispy, and the French toast was perfectly made. The ricotta and berry compote was also fantastic. We were absolutely stuffed and could not be happier. The bill was also much lower than we expected, so the food is pretty affordable compared to other diners in town. I think they moved into this space recently as I remember another restaurant being here before. That restaurant was much more territorial with their parking spots and had signs everywhere telling people not to park there if they weren't customers, but those signs are gone now which is nice. This was our third visit, and unfortunately every single time our order has been wrong. We tried to give this place multiple chances because the food itself has potential, but today was the final straw. My eggs were undercooked, and a very simple request, just adding cheese and salsa to scrambled eggs, still wasn't done correctly. The dish honestly came out inedible. What's most frustrating is the lack of communication and consistency. I really wanted to love and recommend this place, but after three disappointing experiences, I'd rather pay more somewhere else and actually receive what I ordered with decent service. To make matters worse, both my husband and I have had stomach issues all day after eating here. Very disappointing experience overall. read more

Service was so friendly and helpful, they went out of their way to understand exactly how my husband wanted his egg cooked. The dining room is big and it's not noisy and chaotic like so many other brunch spots. Food is reasonably priced and tasty. I especially like the filling of the knowledge omelet and the potatoes. We stopped in here for lunch a while back. My guy was wanting breakfast, I was wanting lunch. This was perfect for both of our needs. He enjoyed his breakfast. I had ordered the club sandwich. The bread was really tasty. I don't eat a lot of bread, but I would eat this bread. The service, and people are great. They have fresh baked goods upon walking in. We bought some to take home. They were delicious. If I can remember right, I feel like they had some wooden children's toys you can buy. Don't quote me. It seems like they were near the pastry counter. I hope to make it back soon. We live in Veneta, so it's harder to make it to town as often as we like. read more

The tea was good the food good only thing we were disappointed about is that it's a bakery and menu said homemade sourdough bread and it was so thin and crunchy. More like a crouton . I have visited Abilities 4 times now. I have been more than satisfied every time. The service was great, the food was amazing, and the purpose of this business is more than heart warming. I had a Rueben Sandwich with onion rings on my first visit. Every bite was wonderful. I invited friends and family for the next 2 trips in. They all raved, and were thankful that we introduced them to a great new eatery. My last visit was for my birthday. I enjoyed the best Chickenfried Steak I have ever had. I am a bit picky, but Juli brought me a sample of the gravy to try. It was perfect. Obvious chunks of sausage, plenty of it, and not overly spiced. The Chickenfried Steak itself was tasty and tender. The Over Easy eggs were just as they should be, the hash browns nicely browned and crispy and the home made whole wheat toast was amazing...and it wasn't buttered with a brush!! My husband (who is an accomplished chef himself) had the same Chicken Fried Steak, with scrambled eggs that he felt surpassed any scrambled eggs ever served to him, even at luxury restaurants around the world. His biscuit was outstanding, as was my slice of birthday Carrot Cake. He commented that every meal that we have enjoyed at Abilities has been excellent. Once again, I found myself at Abilities for breakfast & they did not disappoint! I was greeted as I came in the door and then served by a wonderful woman. I ordered & when the person I was to meet wasn't there yet, our server thoughtfully suggested she keep his meal warm until he came. (Not every server would have done that!). We noticed a few weeks ago that there was a new diner in the old Falling Sky Deli location, so we thought we'd drop by. It was fairly quiet, but that's to be expected for lunchtime on a rainy Monday. They have an awesome vision of providing employment opportunities for differently abled individuals. My understanding is that all their food is made in house, from the breads, to the sauces, to the patties, and it tasted great! We ordered the Pastrami Melt and the Patty Melt with handcut fries and shoestring fries. The portions are a little bit small, but the prices are also lower than we've come to expect when going out to eat (we paid about $13 each). Ultimately, I felt like the portion size was well matched to the price. Both the pastrami and patty melts were good. There were small things to nitpick (the rye didn't have caraway seeds, for example), but foodies always find things to nitpick. haha The handcut fries were a little bit soggy (too much oil) but they still tasted pretty good. The shoestring fries are the way to go, though. They were perfectly crispy, and paired really well with their ranch dressing. We'll definitely be back! read more

An exceptional place that you should not miss. We had breakfast/lunch. Delicious fresh omelette. So fluffy and filled with great stuff. Crispy hash browns and amazing biscuit. Best I have had in many years. Rich, smooth and flavorful Italian coffee. Took a blueberry pie home for later The group had Reuben burgers. They ate the whole thing. I don't know how. The service was exceptional. Our server was delightful and took great care of us. Sadly, I did not get her name. The place focuses on finding the abilities in people with disabilities. Everyone who works there may have a disability but clearly that have the best abilities in purchasing fresh ingredients, making fabulous food, delivering the food at a very inexpensive price and with the best in service. 5 people. Absolutely love this place for so many reasons!! I am from California and you can rarely find a gem like this... My family and I were visiting my son whom lives in Eugene. We decided to try Abilities for breakfast...the homemade cinnamon rolls caught my eye...unfortunately they didn't have any on this day...but I didn't seem to mind. Everything else was so delicious. I usually make everyone order something different so we can share & try many different dishes. It's been 3 months ago so I don't recall everything that was ordered.. I remember the gravy being delicious, chicken fried steak.. sweet cream pancakes,eggs Benedict. All delicious...they also have a bakery...we didn't buy anything but decided to go back again before I headed back to California. Again everything was delicious . I remember my son ordered pastrami and was very pleased. This time we grabbed so baked goods to bring home. I purchased a loaf of sourdough very reasonably priced and a young man offered to have it sliced for me...I also took mom home a muffin & some scones she throughly enjoyed. We were told the owner adopted children with disabilities and wanted to have a place where they could work...this is an amazing woman! She also supports the community with a barrel to place clothes in or donations for less fortunate. I will continue to support this business everytime im in Eugene...look forward to stopping in on my next trip this February!! read more

New diner spot in the old Falling Sky Deli location off Blair. New booths complete the diner feel. They also bake cakes, baked goods, and bread. My club had homemade sourdough which was very tasty. The pancakes were chewy instead of fluffy. The compote on the French toast was good but we didn't expect the cream cheese sauce which sort of covered up the cinnamon flavor we were looking for. My daughter enjoyed her Tuesday's soup: potato chowder (which had bacon). Grace, our server, was very attentive and brought ice for my daughter's hot cocoa to make sure it wasn't too hot for her. This is traditional diner with a meat-heavy menu. There was a few vegetarian dishes but I didn't see a vegan item (though they might be able to sub something out). We'll have to come by to try a burger or an omelette soon. read more

Friendly and attentive Jackie was terrific! The food was great and the portions were generous. Our son had their breakfast combo with the biscuits and gravy and a hot chocolate, my partner had the French toast plate a latte, and I had an omelette. Finally tried Abilities diner today, and so glad we did! I got the abilities scramble and my dad got a Rueben. We also got some onion, garlic rosemary rolls that smell amazing and a passionfruit snail baked good because I'm a sucker for passionfruit. First, I love the mission of this place. That right there is a reason to support them. The staff was friendly and food came out fast. They had a nice selection of breakfast and lunch items, and breakfast is served all day, which I also love. As far as the food, it's diner food. Don't expect anything fancy. But it's good diner food! The portions are huge, and everything tasted fresh and came out hot. The other thing is they offer fresh cut fries, and that's worth a bonus star. Plus the fresh cut fries are delicious.
