Tucked away and cozy, this bakery and coffee shop shares a seating area with Mazzy's, which has two fire places for ambience. There is also lots of outdoor seating, some covered and some uncovered. I've never had trouble finding a seat. If you come before 2pm you can order food off the menu. You might wait 15 min to place your order, and another 30-60 min for your food. If you just want a quick drip coffee you can self-serve that for a cash payment. By only complaints on the two times I visited...the women's rest room is badly in need of being aired out, and the gluten-free bread...I can make much better GF bread at home. read more

I love this little hole in the wall! They have really friendly staff that gets through the line fast, but also pays attention to you. The breads, bagels, and pastries are so yummy! They have gluten free breads and pastries as well that I've heard amazing things about! I regularly get their bagel and cream cheese. They are chewy and big. They give you a lot of cream cheese too in the side. I also really like their espresso. It's always smoothe, not overly burned like most other places. If you get there at 7:45 or later in the morning, you should expect a line. But it's worth it! read more

It's got a bit of a line but the food here is great! They've got a great variety of pastries, breads, drinks, and savory dishes. I got a breakfast burrito, a potato donut, and some pastries for the table and everything was delightful! Shoutout to whoever makes the breakfast burrito and grills the tortilla. I went here with a couple of friends for brunch today and it was amazing. This is such a cute and lovely spot and I'm surprised I only just learned about it. When we arrived the line was long but it moved quickly. You mostly have to wait outside when you're in line but the weather was nice and it was on the patio so it was covered. I ordered the Parisian egg sandwich and a hazelnut mocha and they were both so good. The coffee was some of the best I've ever had! The sandwich was also delicious and the bacon on it had the best smoky flavor. I also ordered a croissant, orange hazelnut spiral, chocolate caramel core cupcake, and a carrot cake cupcake to go and will be enjoying them at home another day. The people working here are so lovely and friendly. They do their best to get food and drinks out in a timely manner. There is limited indoor seating but plenty of patio seating. The parking lot extends to both sides of the building with an alleyway in the back. Parking gets a little tough on weekends but it's absolutely worth the struggle. How does this one-of-a-kind bakery not get a 5 star rating? After visiting back in February this is July and I still cannot stop thinking about this place. Throw in cooked brunches on their menu--which you can enjoy at indoor or outdoor tables (with a fireplace in the interior part) in addition to the exquisite selection of baked breads and inventive rolls. People of Eugene don't know how good they have it. Traveling here from Los Angeles I lamented there was no equivalent bakery with the finesse/sophistication in the sprawling LA metro area (I'm over the standard Mexican bakeries, they're the same old things repeated.) At Hideaway the rolls and croissants were inventive, caught my eye for playful flavors, and tasted superlative. The coffee was complex and delicious. The brunch was absolutely delicious with good quality vegetables, flavorful cooking, subtly done eggs. YUM. Go here and don't regret missing out on one of the West Coast's top five bakeries ( in my humble estimation). The sesame bagel tasted good but had a tough craggy mouth feel,no crisp outside like it hasn't been boiled before baking. Disappointing. The brioche bun was buttery and quite good but on the breakfast menu it was mentioned to have aioli, bacon, egg,spicy sauce and chives. Beside the bread, cheese, egg and some bacon it had no other flavors at all. Again, disappointing. My brother is law had some SD toast with egg, bacon and potatoes. Weirdly the toast came without butter or any other condiment like jam, and was super dry. The bacon was tasty and crispy with smelled like it was cooked on a forestfire, sooooo Smokey it was unpleasant. So disappointing again. The chilaquiles they serve are good, with egg, nicely spiced red sauce and a bed of thicker crispy chips. So, between 2 and 3 stars for the food. Order at the counter, the line can stretch all the way to the outside parking lot. The patio was full but we were able to snatch a table (self seating). We were in Eugene visiting our son at UO. We hung out at Hideaway every morning for three days, drinking tea, sitting by the fire, waiting for the college students to wake up. The food is delicious. Loved the pain au raisin, sweet potato hash, pesto hash and the blte sandwich. We brought our son and his friends and they declared it their favorite breakfast place in Eugene. I agree. Expected a wait given the popularity but to wait 45mins + for their menu offerings is an operational and staff issue. When asked about the status of the order we were told if it's been 45 mins it's okay and normal. After 50mins someone came out to tell us they ran out of a key ingredient for one of the dishes. The ingredient was tortilla chips - to me if they noticed after 50 mins that means they had not even started to make the order. The dish was chilaquiles which is sauce, chips, cheese, tortilla chips and egg. No way that dish even if it's busy takes anywhere near that time to make. And the staff behaved like they couldn't care less. She offered a refund which after just about a hour and a plain bagel. The employee didn't even make the offer with any sympathies or customer service. And a refund and bagels wait does not resolve the situation nor gives us a proper plate of food. It wasn't just us that waited - several tables were visibly annoyed. read more

The first time I came here was with friends, and there was a food-trailer on the back-side of the seating area and you ordered at the same spot for food & coffee but they came out in different areas. So, I'm glad I had friends there to help guide us! That might have been a summer-thing or they re-shifted their kitchen but either way it is different now. When I was still at UO I would schedule my entire week around when I could get my next BLET cause it was the absolute best breakfast in town. Not only is it made fresh with the in-house bread, the price and portion cannot be beat. The entire menu is absolutely stacked, as well as having some of the best coffee pastries and bread in town. Although the wait time is usually pretty significant, they now have a dependable online ordering service so you can time what you want from the kitchen, which is always going to be separate and much longer than anything from the counter. I will say, it takes about 30/40 minutes to get your food after you order **on the weekends**, I can't speak for normal ticket times throughout the week but these wonderful people get so so busy so plan to have a bit of a wait for your meal. Great matcha, great food, and a great vibe! All the food on the menu is really good, especially the chilaquiles, brioche and bacon, and the breakfast burrito. The lattes, matcha, and ice teas are super tasty. I usually come on weekdays because it is easier to find parking (the lot is not that big) and is usually less crowded. Every single time I go on the weekend I usually wait an hour for my food as it is quite busy so I stopped going. I do not have that problem during the weekdays so it is no big deal! Hideaway Bakery is my go-to spot on rainy days for a comforting meal, a cozy drink while I work, or a pastry to enjoy by the fire while I read. There's plenty of seating, both inside and outside, so you're almost always guaranteed a spot. While I've only visited during rainy weather to enjoy the warm fire, the outdoor seating looks equally inviting and I imagine it's perfect in the warmer months. The coffee is good--I've had better in the area, but maybe I just haven't found the right one here yet. I'm a big fan of their paninis, especially the one with bacon, brie, apricot, arugula, and balsamic glaze--SO yummy! I always recommend it to anyone who loves the sweet-and-savory combo. Their soup changes regularly, but the mushroom soup is absolutely fantastic. I can't wait to have it again! Overall, great atmosphere! Food is a little eh though. It was packed today, and a little below freezing. The line was moderate in speed, so we didn't have to stand outside too long before we could get inside to place our order. The woman at the register was very sweet and explained where to pick up the drinks and where to go inside with our number. I ordered a basic breakfast, with fried egg, add bacon and my friend ordered chilaquiles. As a sweet, I ordered a carrot cupcake, and she ordered a chocolate croissant. For drinks, we ordered 16oz hot chocolate and latte. The total for that, without tip, was $39. The drinks were piping hot, which on a really cold day, was a godsend. We headed inside, where there were two fireplaces, and got situated. The food took about 40 minutes, and we got our cutlery and dug in. My friend LOVED her chilaquiles and said it was awesome. The basic breakfast I ordered was missing the bacon, which was an extra $2. It took a while to get the food, so we decided not to bother with trying to find someone to fix that. The potato's were a bit lukewarm, so I think the plate maybe had been sitting for a while. Otherwise, it was good. Overall, the basic breakfast was underwhelming, but knowing the chilaquiles was good balanced the review out. The atmosphere inside was really what made this place special, it was warm and cozy.
