If I wanted to hang out at a coffee shop, this would be the place, I love ube, and it's not a common flavor. They do it, and they do an exceptional job with it. Not only did we use Yelp but we backed up our decision with a google search and that took us to Reddit. Equiano was a top suggestion on both sites. And we understand why. The service was 100% top notch. Helpful. Friendly and knowledgeable, not only about what they offered but about the regions best shops! The coffee itself was very expressive. The Camaroon was totally my style with an earthier tone and the Chai was delightful. The outdoor seating was so very comfortable with a unique sort of panache that I would love to have at my neighborhood coffeeshop. The raked gravel was a nice touch. And even though they didn't have indoor seating with the drizzly day, it was a highlight that I will be repeating in our future travels.

I recently discovered this business, and I quite like it! They are adjacent to Cozmic Pizza, which actually took me a bit to figure out when I went there... I just thought they had a really large cafeteria area. :D They serve authentic chai tea latte... actually made with brewed chai tea instead of that sugary mess you get at most places. They made me a chai tea latte with a spicy black chai that tasted wonderful! I had it made with soy milk, cinnamon and nutmeg. They can be a little slow in serving, mostly because they don't rush customers who are trying to figure out the many choices available for flavor shots and sprinkles. My only complaint was that it was pretty cold in there... had to leave my jacket and scarf on the whole time I was enjoying the tea. Apparently Native Coffee is a fairly new company and they've opened a couple of stands in less than a year so they seem to be off to a good start. I visited about 10 days after they opened this location so I'm not sure if they usually have drink specials or not; it didn't seem like they had any today. Luckily it doesn't tend to matter to me since I don't drink coffee; I'm a chai or lemonade gal. Their chai was really good, and though I don't know for a fact it's not Oregon Chai brand, I'd be really surprised. The chai they have here is really subtle in flavor, whereas Oregon Chai is very very sweet. I was really pleased with this drink. The guy who took my order was super friendly and thanked me for stopping by. I usually don't buy pastries when stopping at a coffee trailer, but I'm glad I asked because they were really great. I hadn't heard of a lemon roll before but yummmmm. Definitely pick one up if they still have them when you stop by, and since they keep them in the fridge for freshness I'd definitely microwave them for 30 seconds or so (actually, warm them up even if you live it at room temp for a bit). Native Coffee is a great addition to the coffee options in Eugene, and worth a stop if you're in west Eugene.
