Visiting my daughter who is a student at UO. We were looking for a good sandwich for lunch. She said let's go to this place called Cheba Hut. What a great recommendation it turned out to be. It is a very eclectic type of lunch spot for sure. Their menu is unique to say the least. But it was a very pleasant surprise when we got our sandwiches. I ordered the Kali Mist on wheat and added feta cheese. The flavor profile was awesome. Could have used a bit more avocado and pickles, but overall the sando was great. And I'm not a bread lover at all, but their bread is better than advertised. My daughter had the White Widow, which she loved and my friend had the Thai Stick, which was also great. If you're in Eugene, you defiantly have to grab lunch here. I also love that they offer a 4" sando for those of us that don't have huge appetites. Next time I go I'm getting one of their vegetarian options. They have some great ones on the menu. read more

What a spot, as a college student I'm always looking for a good sandwich shop to go to with my friends. Last week, my buddies and I decided to try Cheba Hut since we've walked past it countless times. The sandwiches were amazing, and super filling. Great flavor on all three of our sandwiches. Everyone there was super nice so all around the service was good. Although this app only allows "full" stars my honest review would be a 4.25. Not quite a 4.5 but definitely better than a 4. Amazing! The food and service was a wholesome experience. I had the French dip on garlic bread and had them add horseradish. It was very good. Very fresh and great quality of a sandwich. The servings are large so I had leftovers which tasted just as delicious as the first time. We had a large group and not a single one of us had a complaint. I ordered to go. My food was amazing. I ordered the only option that came close to a vegan sandwich. I took away the feta cheese and the "Shake" as it has parmesan. I switched regular hummus to Jalapeño cilantro hummus and added extra guacamole and jalapeños. The place is very nice. And customer service was great. During a recent trip through Eugene, I enjoyed lunch at this very cool place. The food is fantastic. The line was long. Usually, I am way too impatient to wait that long, but I am so glad I did. I ordered the Griefo and the Not-Chos. The Griefo was delicious and mess. The bread is out of this world. The sandwich was loaded with toppings; the sandwiches are served open-face, so I guess that's what you call them. The Not-Chos were spicy and awesome. The prices were reasonable too. I feel like this is not only a nod to the stoner culture; I mean come on, you are in Oregon! But it also felt like a place I would have frequented as a teenager. It has a very early 90's vibe. The people are great, too. Everyone was working super hard and I got the food pretty fast despite the longer wait in line. The guy at the register was so patient. There was a group ahead of me with about 12 people. They opened the other register to help move things along. His infectious patience and kindness helped set the right tone for the visit. This place is great! The ambiance is exactly what you'd expect. References weed everywhere in the shop. The sandwich selection is large. And the flavor profiles are definitely delicious! I've been to this Cheba Hut a few times and each time has been good. The staff are all friendly and work hard to get good food out to their customers. Even when the line is long it moves quickly. Today I got the pretzel nuggets and the white widow on garlic herb bread. The pretzel nuggets were fantastic as always and I wish I could make my own. The honey mustard dip is also really good, and I'm someone who normally can't stand any kind of mustard. I even ended up pouring the leftover honey mustard into my sandwich. Speaking of which, the sandwich was great! The chicken was tasty and the bread was soft inside and perfectly toasted outside. Normally I get the meatball sub but I think I may stick with the white widow for a while since I enjoyed it so much today. The restaurant itself is about what you'd expect from a place close to campus that serves great subs targeted towards a younger customer base who like to partake. The vibes were pretty on point and comfortable. The bathroom was remodeled a while ago and they have a sign up inside it that asks people not to write on the walls because of that, and people actually seem to respect it. That shows how much people like and appreciate this restaurant. The parking isn't great - there's a tiny parking lot behind the building and some free street parking a block over, but the rest in the area is either paid or reserved. There's a huge lot next to the restaurant that is paid on weekends and reserved during the week. The parking lot on the other side is reserved for residents of the apartment building next door. I'll continue to go to Cheba Hut when I'm craving a good sub. I only wish they were closer to my side of town (West Eugene) or that they had multiple locations! read more

Choose from meat sandwiches, chicken & turkey sandwiches, or veggie sandwiches. Something for everyone. Choose your type of bread and the size of your sub. Select from 4", 8", or 12" subs. All subs are made to order with good quality ingredients and then the toasted as open face sandwiches which you would close up as you eat. We ordered in our group, La Canna (Italian), the A-Train (mushroom marinara), and thr 5-0 (the pig, baby!). It was all delicious and we ate everything. The vibe is fun and unique, but at the end of the day, it's more of a stoner's sandwich shop than anything remarkable. I gave it a try, and while the food was okay, it didn't stand out. Possibly the best sandwich I've tried so far. First time coming here and gosh it was so hard to choose which sandwich to get, they have so many options. I decided to get the la canna which is basically their Italian sandwich. I wasn't a big fan of the olives and pickles but overall it was really good. The bread was so good, they have wheat, garlic, and white bread to choose from. Good seating area inside and outside. Fast service and such good food. One of my favorite sandwich spots in San Diego. Was bummed when they moved from their Pacific Beach location. But I was super excited to find they had this location in Eugene. Cheeba Hut is my favorite sandwich shop in Eugene. The employees are extremely friendly and helpful. Lots of indoor, and some outdoor seating. The sandwiches I usually get are the Sensi Kush (blt with avocado), and White Widow (chicken bacon ranch), but you really can't go wrong with anything on their extensive menu. I also like how the sandwiches come in three sizes so you can order to your own liking. I would definitely recommend coming here for some good food and a taste of local Eugene culture. read more

I love Cheba Hut! Friendly service and REALLY good sandwiches. My go-to is a Kali Mist on garlic herb bread and it never disappoints. They also sell things like Rice Krispie treats, cheesy bread, kool aid, and rotating iced teas which allllways hit the spot. If I'm on my lunch hour, I make sure to order ahead online because, as they point out themselves, this isn't necessarily "fast" food, although my order in the restaurant today did come out lickety-split. There are 3 different sizes (4, 8 , and 12") and 3 different choices ( white, wheat , garlic) toasted (hero, hoggy, sub) bread. My wife had the Griefo. Cream Cheese & Veggie Cream cheese, guacamole, pepper jack, spring mix, tomato, onion, pickle, cucumber, shrooms, black olive, green bell pepper, Shake & House dressing. She had an 8" minus the mushrooms. I had the White Widow . Chicken, Bacon & Ranch Grilled chicken breast, bacon, ranch, shrooms, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, Shake & House dressing. I was hungy enough for the 12 " . We both had the garlic bread. Liked the toasted bread. With all the sauces , the toasted bread held up very well. I hate when the bread is limpy when you add the dressing. Very good sandwich. Being near the U of O , you can expect to wait for you sandwich.
