Cannot recommend highly enough!…read more It might just be a nook coffee shop in the International Market building, but they provided much more than that to me. Having traveled a long way to be in Eugene (OK, well, Springfield) for a family medical instance, I needed a respite and someplace to get some work done. Riverbend unknowingly provided exactly that. A 16 oz. cup of their dark roast ran me $2.25, which is an absurdly low price in today's economy. I married that with a coffee cake muffin, which had a very short lifespan. The menu has plenty to choose from; all of the standards between latte to Americano, baked goods plus biscuits and gravy on the ready. My coffee and muffin were delivered with a smile and a friendly reminder of ensuring that the Wi-Fi password had a capital letter in it. Seating is in the large vestibule of the International Market building, but that's all I really needed. I refilled my coffee and slurped it down twice while being able to stay productive and enjoy a quiet environment. Riverbend Coffee wasn't what I was expecting, but it was EXACTLY what I wanted and, more importantly, what I needed.

One thing that gets me is that they must have added cayenne to the gravy. There is no reason to make it spicy. Hot sauce could have been added, if that's your thing. The added spice just didn't seem to go with the dish, in my opinion, and would probably be too much for some folks. The server made the drinks and the food and she brought it out to me at the picnic table outside. Good spot to people-watch. Inside was also very inviting with plants around and tall tables to sit at.

It's not like going to a bad bar or even restaurant where you still can eat a few hours later. Coffee has a small window and a maximum amount of intake. That being said, this morning we chose wisely. Not only did we use Yelp but we backed up our decision with a google search and that took us to Reddit. Equiano was a top suggestion on both sites. And we understand why. The service was 100% top notch. Helpful. Friendly and knowledgeable, not only about what they offered but about the regions best shops! The coffee itself was very expressive. The Camaroon was totally my style with an earthier tone and the Chai was delightful. The outdoor seating was so very comfortable with a unique sort of panache that I would love to have at my neighborhood coffeeshop. The raked gravel was a nice touch. And even though they didn't have indoor seating with the drizzly day, it was a highlight that I will be repeating in our future travels.
