Verry verrry ghetto diner. Walked in and the vibe was off. You can tell that items were not cleaned and sterile. Sugar was kept in an old used relish container, old bottles of honey laying around, tapito hot sauce A1 ketchup and mustard bottles were dirty dirty dirty and two were EXPIRED. I didn't even want to order the food. I was with one person and we both decided to just get an old fashioned milk shake. I got Oreo he got chocolate they were put in styrofoam containers but they weren't blended well at all but not only that it tasted SOUR! I tried my friends to see if his milkshake was any better. We had really high hopes when visiting this last weekend as there's limited dining options in Veneta and we wanted to avoid going into Eugene. Unfortunately we sat and waited for 30min before deciding to leave due to not getting water or any service beyond receiving menus, and we noticed that there was a communal jam jar on a table (like a 24oz strawberry Smuckers jar). We ended up going to Eugene after that. read more

We we're heading to coast today and thought would just hit the place it's been there forever so went to have breakfast. there was a waiter who was starring with a creepy smile every time I looked up he was starring at me , I felt very uncomfortable. I was afraid to eat my food because I thought maybe he did something to our food . So I did not finish my food. My daughter and I went out and the waiter actually asked my husband if I was his wife. My husband said yes and held back telling him how inappropriate he was , because we will never be back and just wanted to leave ! I was extremely uncomfortable and someone needs to let the owner know. Come to find out a person down the road at market said they went in there once and the same waiter just keep starring and they never went back and we will also never go back. read more

I give this place a solid 3.5-4 for what it is - an old diner. Acceptable burgers, salmon burgers (patty) and grilled ham/cheese. Fries were excellent. read more

I've recently moved to the area. I've seen this place on my way to work. Finally stopped for breakfast I got the steak and eggs. Steak was cooked to perfection. My eggs were too coffee was ok cup a little too small. It doesn't seem like a big place but I saw at least 4 different tables during my hour there. Service was really good. This place used to be absolutely amazing. My husband and I went for breakfast and it was awful. All of out food was cold, the orange juice tasted like water, and the 2 guys working were very unpleasant and border line rude. Not a very well kept establishment. read more

I used to go to this regularly with the original owners, but they retired and sold it. The second owners were terrible and compromised quality and raised the prices. So we stopped going since it has been sold at least two more times. Today stopped there to give a try, we had heard it was better. They were not very busy, the place was very clean and very nice gentleman greeted us and directed us to seat ourselves. We found a table big enough for all 6 of us and sat down. We beat the restthere so we told there would be 6 of us total, he took our beverage order and gave us menu's. He was so pleasant and nice. He brought our ice test out immediately, when the rest of the group got there, he came right over to get their beverage orders as well. He took our orders and went back to the kitchen to make them. Wow he was all by himself and had all 6 of our meals to us in record time considering they all meals that required the be made fresh to order. The food was perfect, fresh, hot and delicious. I was amazed, this definitely a place to stop for good diner food. Not bad, biscuits and gravy were great. My boyfriend asked for milk and the waiter/cook (I'm assuming owner?) forgot as he was mingling with some other customers the whole time we were eating. He kindly took it off he tab. I had asked for three eggs as well and only received two. Our waters were not refilled and come in small glasses, has to stop at the Dari mart down the road to get a bottle of water. Eggs were okay, hash browns were good as well, my eggs were cooked over easy and cooked properly. The staff were friendly and kind. Decor is outdated and there was thick dust all over so I would recommend cleaning it as well. If you're looking for a quick bite after traveling and what not I however do recommend stopping in. This is a great small town cafe. Family owned & run. Although, it's not the most up to date establishment (varnish over pics with wood for sale) it does offer great food at a resonable price. I've only eaten breakfast here, but I always look forward to it. It seems to be a popular place for the locals too. Great place to relax & see small town America in action. We recently bought property in beautiful Veneta. We have drove past the Dixie Cafe for years and have always wanted to try it, we decided to take a quick lunch break and try it. There was absolutely no one in there when we arrived. It looked to be an old cafe and family owned. I was Leary because no one was in there and it seemed pretty rugged lol but all in all the owner was nice. We ordered a hot chocolate, A burger and fries, And a Chicken strip dinner which came with soup. I got my hot chocolate and it was DELICIOUS. Best hot chocolate ever. After getting our drinks we waited about 15 minutes for our food. When we got our food everything and I mean everything was fresh and hot! The chicken noodle soup was to die for. The chicken strips were fried to perfection and the burger was juicy and grilled just right. The fries were hot, fresh, crispy and salty just as fries should be. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at just how good it was! We went from being very skeptical to regulars from just one time being there. We WILL be back again? Again and again. This place was once a restaurant that I'd happily drive to from Eugene for some breakfast. I'm not sure it has anything to do with the change of owners... but I've yet to have a meal like the ones I remember from years ago. Perhaps my taste buds have again betrayed me, but I seem to get nothing but flavorless food here nowadays. The service is always great, but I believe the food has taken a dive. read more

Dixies used too have awsome food. I don't know what happened but the breakfast I got the last time I was there was so bad I didn't even finish it, and it wasn't just mine, my dads food was bad also. I was gonna send it back but we couldn't find the waitress, and they weren't even busy! So I guess there must be new owners that are running the place into the ground...its a shame. read more

The only reason for the one star is that the owners who run it, It looks like a husband, wife, and son team, were very friendly. However this place is extremely dirty, our table was covered in grease, under the table looked like the food and garbage had been under there for a long time, and the food was nothing to rave about. We ordered breakfast, my husband and I both got eggs, sausage, hashbrowns and toast. The only thing good on the plate were the hashbrowns and even those were dry! The meat didn't look or taste like sausage. They just pull out that cheap 99 cent bread from the grocery store, and my husband got his meal covered in gravy and the flavor was awful. No one wants to write anything bad about anyone, but honestly this place needs to be checked out by the state for cleanliness, and they REALLY need to find some better recipes. read more
