We've been to Green Salmon three times now, and considering it's about an hour and 20 minutes from our house, I think that says a lot. We literally drive almost three hours round trip for breakfast here. The food is exceptional every single time -- and everything is plant-based, although apparently they're so good at it that people don't even realize it. Last time we were there, we ended up sharing a table with a stranger who had ordered an omelette. Somehow it came up that the whole restaurant is vegan and she was SHOCKED. She had absolutely no idea she was eating a plant-based omelette. Honestly, that might be the best review of the food right there. The place itself is adorable and quirky, with tarot cards and games on the tables, fun merchandise, and friendly, funny staff. And the pastries!! Worth the drive all by themselves. We absolutely love this place and will continue making our ridiculous breakfast pilgrimage as often as possible. read more

Small parking lot in the front of the restaurant with street parking available as well. We arrived around 2pm on a Thursday and the restaurant was still pretty busy! Cozy vibe - lots of posters, trinkets, and different varieties of teas and tarot cards for sale. Seating is a mix of indoor tables and booths. I ordered the Sacred Cow Reuben and it was ready within 10-15 minutes. Sacred Cow Reuben (5/5): Very hearty! Salad tasted fresh and I liked the cranberries in it. The sandwich itself was humongous. The grilled tempeh was seasoned well and paired nicely with the thousand island dressing, pickles, and onions on the side. All in all, a tasty meal. Tired of the attitude by guy at counter. Thinks he's clever but really just a jerk. He unlocks door, pushes it opens a bit, says good evening to the floor. It is 7:35am. I let myself in, prop the door with the brick for the line of folks waiting. I asked him if they had a certain flavor of pastry after searching the case full to overflowing. He looks at me deadpan. If you didn't see it, no. And stands there blank, annoyed, staring at me. I am his first customer. The bottom shelf has no signs on it, so I asked. Most businesses welcome this kind of inquiry. I had selected an alternative but the intractilble lack of willingness to be helpful or even kind made me rethink my support of this small business. I had my coffee mug in hand but decided to leave without getting any. So me and my $10-20 walked out and will not go back having endured enough immature sass from this bro over the past 2 years of patronizing it. We are his bread and butter and he is the face of this town. People come here for vacation, relaxation and to build good memories. I really like this spot and my wife positively loves it. We've been here a few times. The drinks are great; I really enjoyed my peach oolong tea. The folks working here are very nice and friendly. It's fairly rustic but it feels authentic here. Can be a bit of a wait so keep that in mind. If you like a lox bagel give the vegan caviar one a try. I finally got to the Green Salmon after years of missing their open hours because their operating days don't line up with my days off. It seems like a kind of legend at this point...the place people ooh and ah over and say "You HAVE to go!" So I finally went. And it was left... underwhelmed? As expected, it was busy. The entrance door is confusingly on the far side of the building, and the most visible door is actually an exit. You're kind of herded into a queue right away, with shelves of tarot decks on your right. The pastry selection seemed limited with a lot of empty spots, so I skipped getting anything to eat because the few items they had didn't seem appealing. The staff seemed stressed out (understandably due to being so busy), so the interaction with the cashier was hurried and it was hard to hear each other. The hazelnut latte was fine, but I'm just not sure it a was worth nearly $9. I think the cashier had said something about the hazelnut syrup being made in-house, so maybe that's why it was so expensive, but it didn't really taste any more special than what I get other places. The space itself feels hectic and disorganized and loud. I'm not really into the whole tarot card thing, but even if I was it feels like an awkward space to try to shop on. It also feels like an awkward space to try to sit and have a conversation. It's just...an awkward space. I think trying to arrange it differently and adding some better seating might make it more inviting. As always with these experiences, I'm left wondering how I didn't see and experience the same amazing place others did. The space was nothing special...if anything, it felt disorganized and loud. I feel like the best way to explain why I love it here is to post a bullet point list. Here you go: - As soon as you walk in there is a land recognition message for the Indigenous Peoples of this area. - The pastries are not only massive in size and yumminess, they are all plant based?!? During my visits I had their maple croissant, almond croissant, and the blueberry/lemon scone. All exceptional. - They are a tarot card store at the same time of being a cafe. We weren't rude to warrant such treatment and were patient & polite our entire visit. Placed our drink orders and received two burnt mochas. We love the welcoming, warm and colorful ambiance here--truly feels like you've stumbled on a local gem with the various plants everywhere and light-filled windows and booths. I'm not vegan but thought I'd give this coffee/cafe a shot since it's next door to the thrift stores I frequent. The service was great. Warm, friendly, fast. A friend of mine is in a clean diet and was ecstatic to have an opportunity to splurge and keep on her healthy journey. I went with my usual coffee, (vegan) creamer and raw sugar. The two additions to my coffee were new and I'm not quite sure if I liked it. I finished it, so it wasn't revolting. I'll have to give it a second try and maybe get more adventurous with my order. The food looked amazing and good portion sizes, so I fully intended to head back for lunch. They're closed Tuesday and Wednesday, so it'll have to wait until Thursday. read more

The restaurant is located right beside Hwy 101, so if you're coming here slow down even more so you can see ahead of time to turn in. Parking space is available on both sides of the building. Inside is very small town feel, rustic, very Yachats vibe. Customer service is very accommodating, welcoming, the cashier answers a lot of questions regarding local favorite foods & beverages, and what to do around their neighborhood. Located on 101, you'll see the signage and cafe as soon as you enter Yachats. - Super shroom cocoa ($3.75): A run of the mill cocoa. We didn't taste any shrooms, but toward the end my bf said "hey I see a shroom flake on top. I guess I can kinda taste it." 3/5 - St. Pat's short-n-stout ($3.75): Light and creamy. A good one for those who don't like super strong coffee. 3.5/5 - Green salmon and lox plate ($13.25): You had us at Matcha cream cheese, but sadly the only thing resembling matcha was the light green color. Also, just a note: the lox was smoked, rather than a cured salmon, which is traditional. Very generous with the capers. Overall, ok but nothing special. 3/5 - Sausage breakfast sandwich with egg on sprouted wheat bread ($7.50): BLAND and DRY AS F. Excuse my French. I literally was trying to choke this down. This was in dire need of some sort of condiment lubrication. 0/5 Indoor and outdoor patio seating available. While the the sanitized/non-sanitized signs on the table are appreciated in the midst of a pandemic, it wasn't working. This is one of the best coffee shops I've been to in all of Oregon! The drinks are all so delicious and reasonably priced. They have something's for everyone: herbal lattes, chai, matcha, coffee, and smoothies. I really appreciate that they don't charge extra for nondairy milks and flavors. The service is also wonderful! All Vegan! The blueberry pancake was tart and tangy, like a great buttermilk-style flavor. By far the best pancake I've had since being vegan. The omelet with ham, cheese and asparagus was decadent and astonishingly similar to the conventional alternative. I'm not even a huge omelet guy, but the JustEgg and BeLeaf ham are going on my shopping list. The service was attentive, and had a fun/wry sense of humor instead of an artificial friendliness. I said I'll have the same sandwich and a different coffee. We paid and sat down. However, I realized that I likely hadn't paid enough. For some reason the person behind the counter hadn't punched in my order right and didn't ring up my sandwich OR drink. I was pretty mad since we were in sort of a hurry. They didn't seem to care, though. She just run me up for the extra items and put them in line with everything else. Behind my wife's order. That's not great service. Also, they pretty much still have the pandemic seating in there. Get RID of the huge booths and let people socialize again. The pandemic is over. I'm all for safety, but, it's really over. Then I noticed another thing that is totally and completely awesome: an honor system coffee pot. Someone (the owner) gets up early even on days when they aren't open to put out an airpot of coffee and tasty treats for people come enjoy on the honor system ON THE DAYS THEY ARE NOT OPEN. This is huge. Awesome. Total community service. My apologies for being grumpy about not having a ceramic cup (I can bring my own) or for a not-quite-as-good-as-I-thought-it-should-be pastry. Visited Yachats for the first time today and tried out this adorable cafe. The vibes in here are unbeatable - tarot cards and trinkets galore!! I ordered the Shroom Hot Chocolate and it did NOT disappoint. Not only was it creamy and tasty but it contained 14 different medicinal mushrooms with various benefits.
