I was pleasantly surprised that they met my high bar for a good breakfast and served lattes which my other favorite spot does not. The space is small though they do offer outdoor seating. All the outdoor seating was taken when were there Sunday morning, so we opted to sit at the bar. There is no real table service for ordering, which makes things a little awkward. You sit and look at menus, then go up to the counter to order, and hope someone doesn't come in and take the spot you were just sitting at. I ordered buttermilk pancakes (just the cakes) with real maple syrup (yay!), with a side of bacon. The pancakes had good flavor, but were quite small and thin -- not fluffy at all. The bacon, on the other hand, was thick and meaty, and cooked perfectly. Service was friendly throughout our experience, and the staff does tend to you while you are dining (despite not taking your order at the table). I was a little disappointed at the amount of food for the price, especially considering the lack of fluffiness with the pancakes, so I can only give 4 stars. read more

We were staying at a brand new hotel in Newport. It did have a restaurant, the food was good but not for what we paid. So we've eaten at Cafe Stephanie before so well called to see if they delivered and we were thrilled when they said YES! We both got the Tornado potatoes. They were so good and still hot! One of our most favorite breakfast spots in Nye Beach/Newport! Looking around at other people's meal choices I always get so tempted to try something else. But alas, I stick to their awesome ham, cheese & chive omelet! I also tried a half order of their marionberry crepes! It was once again all soooo delicious! We came here for breakfast on Sunday. We decided to sit outside because it was a nice day. The service was great, they checked on us and kept our water and coffee full. We both got omelets (bay shrimp and salmon) and they were tasty. The omelets were fluffy, though the cheese amount was a bit high. All told it was a good amount of food and delicious. Great breakfast & service @ Cafe Stephanie in Nye Beach on New Year's Day! This breakfast/lunch cafe was on the smaller size, but they made the most of their space. They had a 'wait to be seated sign' at the entrance, promptly acknowledged our presence and told us to pick a spot. We opted for the bar top, which had windows looking out to the street and ample counter space. The staff was friendly, gave us menus, and told us to order and pay at the service counter when we were ready. Our drinks were served quickly and our food came out hot with fresh ingredients. Today my husband ordered the pork tacos with cold uncooked or warmed tortillas swimming in grease dripping from the taco and the pork had no flavor straight up gross. When the owner went from serving to cooking wthout washing your hands double gross. My sandwich was supposed to be a hot club sandwich which was not even warm. I have been intending to stop in at Cafe Stephanie for years. Yeah. I know. Well, then why haven't I been? Timing. I'm in Newport for work once a month, but my schedule keeps me tied up until after 14:00. Cafe Stephanie closes at 14:00. One of the people I used to work with also worked there, and she said I must get there some time. Another person I work with just recently said it's a favorite. Well I was just in Newport for a training, and we got done a little after 13:00, and a couple colleagues asked if we should grab lunch. I asked if there was a place they had in mind, they said no, so I said, "There's this place I've been wanting to try...." Off we went. It was the weekend, so we were worried it would be busy. There were tables open. It was quaint. Small, but quaint. I love the octopus painting across the wall. I bet it's nice to sit outside when it's not raining, but c'mon, that don't happen in January very often, and it was a very very wet day. It was extremely difficult to order. Not because it was inconvenient, but because the menu was just wow. My companions figured it out. One got the zucchini bread French toast. Wait. What? Zucchinin bread French toast? Get out! No. Seriously. And it was marvelous. The staff was happy to substitute the side dishes with a big smile. My other companion got the seared ahi sandwich, and it looked fantastic. I had a harder time. I thought about that ahi sandwich. I thought about tacos. I thought about breakfast.... I asked if they roast the pork for their Cubano in-house. Yep. I asked if I was choosing between the Reuben (in-house cured corned beef) or the Cubano, what was recommended. They said toss a coin. The dishwasher said get the Cuban. Next time I'll get the Reuben. Or the ahi. The Cubano was delicious. The staff was attentive and friendly and for sure not overbearing. Good music played from the back. Yeah. I will see about scooting out a little early maybe some time so I can get there before they close at 14:00. Probably won't happen, but if I'm over for some other reason I can swing on by. read more

On our last day visiting the Oregon coast, my husband and I needed a quick place to grab breakfast before checking out of our hotel and driving back to Portland. Cafe Stephanie had great reviews, great food photos, and was just 6 minutes from our hotel so we called them at 9AM to place our order. 15 minutes later, our order was ready. As we arrived, street parking was available right in the front. Many people were taking advantage of their outdoor seating and enjoying their meal. All promising sights that this was a good pick for my husband and I. We ordered The Club for $10.95, which was a turkey sandwich with herb cream cheese and bacon on focaccia bread. They did not fail us! It was amazing! We asked for additional mayo because I usually find sandwiches a bit dry without extra sauce. The best part was hands down that focaccia bread.. soft, flavorful. Came here during a roadtrip along the Oregon coast for a breakfast meal. Ordered the Club sandwich ($10.95) via phone and it was ready for pick up within 15 mins when I arrived . They were also nice to give me a to-go cup of mayo since I requested it. The sandwich's size was a big portion, which includes focaccia bread, roasted turkey deli, brie cheese, bacon, herb cream cheese, tomatoes, and dijon mayo. The focaccia was soft to the bite and had a good griddle marks. There was plenty of tender turkey deli meat along with large pieces of crispy bacon. I liked that the brie cheese was a creamy spread, which melted well with the herb cream cheese. The tomatoes were ripe and not too wet, which can happen with overly ripe tomatoes. My wife and I ate there Sunday morning. Service was friendly, but the ham/mixed-meat omelet and Biscuits/Gravy we ordered were nearly unedible. The B&G gravy was the worst tasting either of us have ever had served, and the bisuits were rock-hard and stale. The bacon in the omlete was burned to a crisp, and the pineaple slices it came with had mold on the rind. We noticed the couple sititng next to use also left their meals 1/2 eaten--and we could see the burned potatoes left on one plate. In addition, a small milk (literally the size of a double-shot glass) was $3.50. If you go there for their quiche, pastry and coffee, it's probably ok. They have both indoor and outdoor seating but the seating outside is in the sun and I did not notice any umbrellas or shrubbery to provide shade. My husband had the zucchini French toast with bacon and I had the potato bowl. The food was below average. My potato bowl had undercooked potatoes, some sort of spicy sausage mixture and was topped with scrambled eggs that were really not scrambled but were just cooked eggs on top of the potato meat mixture. We discovered a true gem, hole in the wall cafe in the cute "Nye Beach" area of Newport, Oregon. This is an adorable part of Newport off the beaten path. The service was excellent, which I've noticed a severe lack of in this crazy pandemic world with terribly understaffed restaurants. The staff were all friendly, smiling and very welcoming. In addition to breakfast, they also have an extensive coffee/espresso menu which we took full advantage of. The hubby had a large Americano and I had a large Mocha. I've been an espresso addict for a good 30 years and have had espresso all over the country. My Mocha was literally the best I've ever had. The espresso to chocolate ratio was spot on. Not too sweet, not too bitter. My hubby says the Americano was "excellent". Both were served piping hot which really set the tone for my expectations. Hot coffee is the perfect way to start your breakfast. I ordered the "Potato Tornado" with scrambled eggs and an English muffin. The serving size was very generous. The potatoes were exactly as I love them- almost burnt, but super crispy outside, tender on the inside. I would've enjoyed a bit more red pepper and onion, but it was still very well seasoned and delicious. I ordered easy on the cheese. My scrambled eggs were certainly the fluffiest I can recall. Even the garnish of fresh pineapple and orange slice were wonderful- they were both very fresh and sweet. My hubby went for the Omelet with ham, sausage, bacon, mushrooms and Swiss cheese. This was also very fluffy and stuffed so full that the meat snuck out the sides a bit! This looked amazing and my hubby cleaned his plate! The best part was that everything looked and tasted fresh and homemade. We will definitely be adding this cafe to our list of "must eat" on our yearly beach trip. Little family own cafe in downtown Newport. The restaurant has several options for breakfast and lunch and they close at 2:00pm. When you come in, you have to wait to be seated. Once you look at the menu, you may go to their front desk and order your meals. Meals will be brought to your table once they are ready. I ordered the potato tornado. On a scale 1-10, this is a 7 for me. The potato's were sweet and it was just different. We also ordered the omelets; these were ok too. Their lattes were really good!
