We arrived when most all patrons were seated & eating so from our viewpoint there wasn't a lot of orders that needed to be made. The lemons were left uncovered & several flies in the restaurant. Water is from the tap, not the filtered thru the soda machine. No one came to check if I needed a warm up on my Coffee. No flavored creamer, only Half & half. Fruit cup had rotten pineapple in the cup. All in all prob would never stop back in when in the area. It was my first time coming into sunrise since I was a kid, and it was amazing, I went with a couple friends just to catch up and get some brunch, the food was really good, the GIANT hot coco is no joke and our server was really nice. First time yesterday. Food was ok. Went out of my comfort zone as far as ordering. Probably should have stuck to a basic breakfast. Service was good. Waitress was friendly and checked in a lot. We were seated right near the restroom/back supply area so lots of traffic on both sides of our table. I probably was most disappointed in the restroom. I've been here a couple times, first time was stumbling across it while just passing through. The other times I purposefully drove out of town to Pleasant Hill for this restaurant. The service has been good when I've gone and the food has been even better. I love their country fried chicken, but everything I've tried has been great. Well, you can't say much about the building because clearly it is on the "older" side. Honestly a good scrub down with some paint and a refresh is in need. However,The staff is very nice. The food is very good. The best we've eaten while we were visiting that area! My husband and I are both pretty picky about our food and how it's cooked. I've never seen him clean both of his plates like he did. He had scrambled eggs, bacon, two pancakes. I had their "special" oats and I can't remember the name, but they are fantastic. Steel cut oats with tiny diced pieces of different kinds of fruit and I believe there is nuts in there too. Served with a little cup of milk, a little container of brown sugar & a little cup of better. that's it. It was hotter than hot and absolutely delicious! I had just a cup size and a side order of wheat toast. A I always order extra butter because my toast is usually on the dryer side. Everything was fantastic. We absolutely loved it. We have gone here for years and enjoyed the food but today the service was horrible. We ordered breakfast and then watched 3 other orders that came in after us get their food. When we asked the waitress why she said the cook chooses what tickets he cooks. This is the same cool that has always been there so I don't think that was true. Chase bank sucks! My boyfriend and I recently got new cards but in the process got locked out of our bank and only had access to tap to pay. This morning my pregnant self wanted some good breakfast so we came to one of our favorite places not far from home, sunrise cafe! our Bill was 37$ even and we went to use tap to pay and after trying countless times with hopes it would work cause we have no other way to pay, it sadly did not. Just called in an order to go. Got the most dreadful gal half a$$ taking our order. We would say what we wanted & she didn't care she would ask if we wanted something else we say no then have to remind her we just requested something she just ignored so we reminded her again. You could tell she was completely put out on the phone. We finally put in the order & she says see ya when you get here. Like WTH? I want a time because I'm not trying to stand inside at the front door waiting til it's done & boxed up. I want to show up & it's ready to go. The service was excellent. The eggs and biscuits & gravy were decent. The hash Browns tasted like they were cooked in old oil. The coffee was hot and they were good about keeping your cup filled but the coffee itself tasted like gas station coffee. I don't think it will be one we do again. Okay the best breakfast is not at a restaurant but at our house.... Our house/My house is a very, very, very fine house with no cats in the yard and life could be better but my dog/puppy has not arrived. ETA. August 20th 2021. Our house/My house is a 1900 farm house located near Pleasant Hill. I am in the middle of renovating it and because I do not have a functioning kitchen, I can't easily make my savory edible creations.... I desire to have nice home style cooked meals, especially breakfast on Sunday mornings. To suffice my desire, necessity and fix, I had to seek an alternative dining solution.... In fact, it is really very simple: I roll out of bed, I set my mind to have something warm and tasty... and head straight to the Sunrise Café... I am truly lucky, it's literally a mile for a crow's flight from my house.... Since I'm not a crow, I have to drive. My drive is just under two miles... I love the friendly staff, the tasty food, and of course the short drive!!! If you live or are visiting Eugene the drive to the Sunrise Café is both beautiful and short. It is located only seven miles outside town. Just take 30th Street over the hill to I-5. (This route in the mornings, especially during the winter, spring and fall is truly spectacular. The clouds are low and appear to be spiritually layered in the valleys and upon each hillside... it's very picturesque!) Then take I-5 south to Route 58, Klamath Falls exit, drive on Route 58 approx. 3 miles, and look for the Sunrise Café on left. Everything is great on the menu and one should always consider the daily specials... Last the coffee is always excellent!!! read more

I absolutely love this little spot for a great breakfast. The venue is small and it gets pretty busy, especially on the weekend. This place reminds me of the diner my grandpa used to frequent. Hearty breakfasts, amazing biscuits and they have apple butter, which is always a plus for me. Another gem in the pleasant hills area. It seems pleasant hills is hording all the good places to eat in this area and the Sunrise cafe is certainly on the list. The staff is amazingly helpful , genuine and courteous. They really make you feel welcome. The food is tasty, and whether you order breakfast or lunch, you will not be disapointed with the meal. They have a good variety on the menu so everyone should find something they want to eat and at a reasonable price. One go to for breakfast is the chicken fried steak. Its made in house so it isn't the usual frozen tastless hunk of meat you see most places. They have both a white and sausage gravy so you can get what you want on your steak. I myself am a sausage gravy fan but to each his/her own. They also make the french fries in house with the skin on. A nice change of pace from the usual frozen variety. So if you find yourself in Pleasant Hills for breakfast or lunch, be sure to stop by the Sunrise cafe. Good food and a wonderful staff make this a place you will be glad you went. read more

Get the Hippie Cereal! All kinda' natural goodness! I had a side of bacon with it. Nice and smokey goodness. My dinning partners had biscuits and country gravy, eggs and what not...Looked good, but the first thing I thought of was "heart-burn city". The food is 5 STARS Rating based off of overall experience My husband and I have now been here 2x, the last time was before the COVID-19, and I don't know if they are operating at this time. We try our best to hit something different for breakfast every weekend, we finally made it out to the sunrise after multiple folks suggested we check it out. Food is fantastic and fresh Prices are fantastic Staff is the only thing that prevents us from going more often , the first time we came in the waitress was not friendly and it felt like she was irritated that we walked through the door. They were busy which was expected and we were happy to wait. Facial expressions from the waitress of disgust and fatigue were evident, she forgot our coffee which was fine we had no problem making due with water, but also trying to get a refill was impossible. The place is tiny so whatever happens is seen and felt in the little place, another customer asked for more coffee and she actually raised her voice annoyingly and said "yea I'll get right on that" I was super put off at this point. (mind you with this place due to layout no matter what your position is cook/waitress you need to be 100% ) There was another waitress a little bit older who was also working and thankfully ended up taking care of us, she definitely saved our experience to an extent. I don't care who you are, when working in any public place you should be mindful of your attitude, if you are having a bad day, suck it up, that's not your customers business, your busy and overwhelmed? Take a breather communicate with your co workers and take 5 to collect yourself. You think it doesn't matter because you deal mostly with "regulars" and that they are ok and or used to that behavior? The Sunrise Cafe is the kind of breakfast place we wish there were more of: a non-chain, with local, friendly service and a hearty breakfast. Unfortunately, we tend to only find them in smaller towns these days, as national chains that serve poor food (like Denny's and IHOP) have taken over. I rarely eat breakfast. However, when stumbling upon a place like Sunrise Cafe I get excited. Even something as simple as bacon, eggs, hash browns and toast tastes good. Meanwhile, their larger breakfast menu affords many options, including scrambles, omelettes, sausage and gravy types, french toast and more. Sure everyone who serves breakfast has these. Meanwhile, you'll find plentiful portions, lots of flavor and all in a building that looks like it's been around longer than you have. You seem to find a mix of folks here; a congregation of locals (in which the waitresses tend to know what they are going to order before they do) and tourists heading towards the Willamette National Forest. Both are treated like locals. If you're passing by you'll be served well here and won't leave hungry. It's the kind of spot I wish there were more of these days. I got the Diablo scramble with jalapeños and a biscuit. I'm not blowing smoke when I say this, by far one of the best breakfast meals I've ever had! The owner of this establishment is not a man of his word and treats his staff poorly, pays them less than the agreed upon rate of pay, pays late, and is abusive and creates an extremely toxic work environment. He even berates his own brother, his blood. Every dollar you spend is a vote for something you believe in. Don't vote for this place. It's a disgrace. The kitchen is so filthy that your shoes stick to the floor. I'm still waiting on my pay. The cafe is extremely unsanitary. The owner coughs constantly while cooking on the line, wipes his mouth with his hand without washing his hands between episodes, and constantly curses during the process. C'mon Pleasant Hill, there are better options than this! You're only ten minutes from Eugene at this point, try Off The Waffle or Lion and Owl instead! read more
