Stopped here for Breakfast one morning. (We were in area on vacation and saw it on Yelp) Ambiance is not great. It's in the local Cattle Auction building. BUT..the service and food are amazing! Hubby had the Biscuits and Gravy Special (he doesn't eat eggs so they offered extra sausage!) and I had the Florentine Scramble substituting cheddar for Swiss Our waitress suggested the POP's Potatoes. (Home fries with cheese-think crunchy crusty goodness) The food was so good I tipped the cook as well as the waitress. Also the portions were so large we both had leftovers for breakfast the last day. We returned a few days later and split the Florentine Omelet. (It was plenty). Still awesome. We returned a 3rd time with a large group on the weekend. Big mistake-we forgot to check if there was an auction happening. (There was). Service was friendly but we had to wait an hour for food. (Our waitress told us that as soon as we sat down) Food quality was still good. We will definitely go back next time we're in the area! read more

So first off this is inside the auction house, so it's a little dusty. We were greeted upon entering the cafe which was nice. I always order the same thing, but have noticed other peoples plates of food, such as biscuits and gravy, huge portion and looked very good. Chicken fried steak looked very delicious as well and another large portion. My portions are big as well. If you can handle a little dust you've gotta go. Great food and great people. When we pulled up to the restaurant I was surprised to see we were at the cattle auction. Within that building is the cafe, and it has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere and was filled with folks that appeared to be regulars, as the server welcomed them by name. This is a good sign! The server was so kind, informative, and asked questions to be sure we were getting our food cooked how we liked. After a short wait, huge plates of food arrived fresh and neither of us could clean our plate! Went to the Stockman in mid May 2025 for the first time in years because we'd heard they were under new management. We were specifically looking forward to breakfast, since that was supposed to be their specialty. Walked in 45 minutes before closing and were informed because it was so late there was no breakfast (nothing on the menu about breakfast ending at a specific time) and if we didn't finish our food by 2pm we'd be given boxes and shown the door. Not sure why we stayed, but we did. Another couple arrived at 1:30 and were asked to leave! As for the food, the Rueben was super soggy - couldn't pick it up because the bread was so wet - and barely had any fillings, I'd say 3mm of pastrami at best. My husband's hamburger was barely adequate, nothing special at all. My recommendation is not to waste your time or money. There are so many better places in the area for breakfast or a burger. read more

If you want to take a friend out for breakfast or lunch this is the place. I'm sure they will think it's odd you pulled into a livestock auction but the food is great. The service is fantastic too. It's family friendly so bring the kids. Others are running around so they will make friends that might last forever. BUT NEED TO KNOW: No gluten-free food whatSOEVER a few pictures of old menus show they do have but New owners about 5 years ago, who choose not to learn how easy it is to incorporate so many entrées gluten-free. They do NOT plan to incorporate any gluten free foods either. But... the ladies had on hand large leaf lettuce (not usual) and I was able to eat mushroom cheese burger using lettuce as a wrap which was good. Service was fair. read more

My husband and I come here on a regular. I think we have tried every menu item. My husband has to favorites the chicken fried steak and the breakfast burrito. I enjoy the chicken fried steak as well however I'm doing keto right now. I asked Tina some suggestions on what I could do that would fit with in my diet and have come up with a new favorite I love the all meat omelette adding in sauteed mushrooms and onions. Great little road side diner. Service was excellent. Waitress was super nice and kept checking to make sure everything I needed I had. Ordered the breakfast burrito and it was really good. I smothered it in the salsa they brought. Really good. Visited here the day after Trump took office. Glad there were no whiny liberals in there or they might not have survived. Clientele that day was very conservative. I fit right in. Will be back for breakfast tomorrow. read more

This morning was my third visit to Stockman's. The first two times I ordered chili cheese omelettes. I was going to order the same this time, but due to it being a holiday weekend and them closing for two days, they were out of chili. So, I opted for the chicken fried steak meal. Oh boy, let me tell you, that's an order I'm glad I made! I have had chicken fried steak at other places and I have never been impressed until now. Huge portions, everything cooked to perfection. Halfway through the meal, I was stuffed! I took the rest home with me for dinner tonight. I can't remember her name, but the waitress was real friendly and attentive. Absolutely no complaints! So I love stopping at small town restaurants/diners because they are more personable. The Stockman's did not disappoint. All that was missing was Flo saying "Kiss my Grits". The ladies working were as nice as could be and took the time to talk to everyone. I loved how they knew everyone who walked in (except me of course). I was there for breakfast. It takes a lot to fill me up and I left stuffed. Had the breakfast burrito which was stuffed with every breakfast deliciousness imaginable. Traveling through this area we were looking for a great country breakfast place. Found this place on yelp. It is right off of the street, however our navigation had us going in circles. I was determined to find it, since it had great ratings from Yelp. I called to ask for directions. I was given the directions in a clear manner. This place was exactly what we were looking for. Down home cooking by Sara Barber. Boy she sure can cook! I had two eggs with sausage. The sausage is a patty, BUT the flavor of that sausage was off the hook! My husband had Stuffed hash browns. That included cheese, onions, sour cream, gravy with crumbled sausage( that good sausage) with two eggs on top! Good coffee is a must and they have that down too! If you are traveling close to here, do your taste buds a favor and stop by. They are open for breakfast & lunch. The morning we were there they had 2 specials. A breakfast special with Portuguese sausage( so good) had a sample . The other special was a chili dog, which you could have ordered at breakfast time. This place is one of those gems. This is exactly the kind of place we walk in and feel at home. First of all, it's at the stock exchange and when you walk in your experience those aromas. That may not be your cup of tea. Once you get past that you slip into the café and drift back to a yesteryear of diners where the cooking is old fashioned, you know what to expect on the menu and the food is delicious. We've found a couple of these on our travels (one outside of Mobile, AL had really good pie) and we love 'em! Had a great breakfast this morning with wonderful service. The hashbrowns were over done on the outside and raw in the middle. The toast had been left to sit out until it was cold then brushed with there fake oil butter they use. My family used to go there when i wad a kid and it was never this low quality. Disappointed. read more

My brother, sister-in-law and I stopped in here on our way to Salem (where they live) after they picked me up from the airport in Eugene. In my infinite wisdom, I chose the coldest, snowiest day of the year to visit and we happened to be driving to this establishment in the middle a white out - a terrifying experience for this born-and-raised Arizona girl. In our attempt to turn off the highway, we ended up in a most unfortunate vehicular predicament. Oh well, we decided...we were ALMOST in the parking lot of Stockman's...let's have some lunch. We entered the restaurant and told Ashley, our fabulous waitress, what had happened. She got us much needed coffee, STAT and made sure the land-line phone was available to us to call for help, since the restaurant doesn't great cell service. She took our order and offered to make us hot chocolate "on her" to ease the pain of our strandedness. She even let me use one of the kitchen plugs to charge my cell phone so I could text my husband for our AAA number. Then she assured us that even though the restaurant closed at 2 pm (we arrived at 12:45), we would not be left out in the cold. Not to make a liar out of Ashley, one of the owners took us back onto the office after the restaurant closed so we could stay warm while we waited for our tow truck to arrive. We were there 90 minutes past closing time, and I cannot thank these kind people enough for staying around so we could stay warm and dry. I have no idea if they actually had duties to perform in that office that kept them so late after closing time, but it meant the world that they said they did! We had nothing to offer them except our "thank yous," but I hope they know how grateful we were. You don't often see the sort of kindness and compassion they showed us in 2013! And as far as the food: my BLT was perfectly toasted and packed with bacon, and my tots were extra-crispy...just the way I like them. Ashley brought me ranch dressing without even having to be asked...after all, who eats tots without ranch dressing? OH, and those hot chocolates? Perfection! read more

Ive thought about coming here before in the past and finally took the plunge today. Service was fast and friendly. My boyfriend and I both had the stuffed hash browns with two eggs and gravy. Yumm ! We thought it was really good.(9.99) My only wish is that it would have come with at least one slice of toast. We ordered our daughter a strawberry pancake but the pancake she got just looked like a plain ol pancake, we didn't see any berries. Took our family out for their anniversary breakfast. Was not greeted right away but the chef was busy doing his duties in the back and the waitresses were late. The food was good for a couple of people but Dari Mart makes better biscuits and gravy (which is out of a can). The easiest dishes to make were the last to come out. We were not informed of a children's menu so two kids under 6 had a lot of leftovers. When the waitresses did show up they had to be told numerous times to bring out food to us. They were so busy talking to each other and someone at the bar they never came to check to see how anything was or offer warm ups on our coffee. There was people that came in after us that just helped themselves to drinks so this must be normal routine to be unprofessional. read more

Note - this restaurant is a couple of miles south of Junction City. The Yelp! map has it located about a mile north of the actual location. Google Maps took us right there. The restaurant is inside the Eugene Livestock Auction building. We ate breakfast there late one Saturday morning and the place was packed. Turns out the livestock auction is every Saturday at noon. If you've got small kids they'll probably get a kick out of it and you are welcome to watch. The food itself was standard greasy spoon fare. The service was very slow and they ran out of biscuits. The staff were friendly but seemed totally overwhelmed, which is too bad because the livestock auction happens every week and they should be able to plan ahead for the crowds. I wouldn't go out of your way for the food, but if you're in Junction City there aren't a lot of other choices for a sit-down breakfast. read more

Have eaten here many times before and the food and service have been good. Not today. Husbands O'Brien hash browns were undercooked and the potatoes used were green. The waitress came to ask how our food was so he mentioned the undercooked potatoes. The waitress asked if he wanted a replacement and he said he would like a side of regular hash browns (because he tried mine and they were good) a couple minutes later the cook came out and confronted my husband in a very confrontational and rude manner, argued with him and made a scene in front of the other guests, insisting the potatoes were fine and she has been the cook previously and always cooks them the same and on and on. The waitress came back and said she was sorry for the issue with the potatoes and they would comp our drinks. I complained about the cook coming out and being ridiculous and the waitress told me the cook was the manager. Terrible service by the manager and we will not be going back. read more
