We went untraditional with chicken sandwiches, and the grilled chicken with garlic mayo, avocado, tomato and pepper Jack was one of the BEST I've had. I just went on a road trip with my friend to Eugene Oregon. We were looking for a place to eat lunch on our way out and I randomly typed into Google "burger places near me" and found the Eugene Burger Company. I am so glad I did. I had a beyond burger with the beer battered fries and my friend had a wedge salad, which she loved. Everything was excellent. The service, the ambience, and the bar. I would give this two thumbs up. I hadn't heard of the Eugene Burger Company but am always on the lookout for more great burger places. Especially in a different city for me. We needed a burger and found Eugene Burger Company in the 5th Street Mall food court area. It's located on the upper level of the small mall along with about 4 other restaurants which shared the common seating area. We had a couple of smashburgers and another in our party had the 1/3 pound burger. The menu walks you through a 4 step process when ordering so you basically customize your burger and sides. I like this option but it makes for a lot of choices and I like it all so it can take me awhile to order. I had my burger with the tots which were weirdly lightly colored. Usually tots are more of a golden brown. These were like a very light brown. They tasted fine though. My wife had sweet potato fries which were served waffle style which is fun. My daughter had the beer battered fries which were my favorite of the three. The smashburgers were fine and weren't the Oklahoma style with onions embedded in the meat so they tasted more like regular burgers. We all enjoyed our food and the service and will definitely return here again. read more

The burger is a good value. When I am paying for bacon I don't like having to deconstruct the burger to find it, and unfortunately that is what I had to do with this burger. Located inside Eugene's 5th Street Public Market you'll find the most delicious burgers and sauces made by owner Travis, his wife and crew. I love the casual feel of the 5th Street food court and how easy it was to order and find a spot to sit (not at all busy on an early Saturday evening). I really liked that EBC just has a make it how you like it menu and I think pricing is very fair for what you get. The guy taking our order steered me in the direction of the battered fries over the steak fries and they were awesome! I also love their homemade ranch, somehow "lighter" tasting than others (though I'm sure still not the healthiest option haha). Tonight was my first visit. All of our smash burgers were dry and although the beef itself tasted like it was good quality it had no detectable seasoning. I ordered mine with cheese and a sauce but yet it had neither. My son's also was missing cheese. His had a blackened overcooked fried egg and it too was missing the cheese, He said the bacon was so hard it hurt his tooth. My husband ordered his with grilled onions and lettuce. It had one sliver of an onion and a quarter sized piece of wilted lettuce. Because it was my first time I assumed maybe the drinks would come out with the food but not only did we not have drinks while waiting we had to ask for them after we began eating these dry burgers and realized we had nothing to wash it down with. Three stars seems too stingy toward Eugene Burger Company, but four stars feels a little on the generous side, so here I am kinda stuck in the middle. The place is solid but not spectacular. I enjoyed it, and I wouldn't dig in my heels against coming back, so take that for what it's worth. Eugene Burger Company is located in what is essentially a high-class food court. Service is purely at the counter (you pick up your order when it's ready), but the ordering process is easy (and the staff taking orders are very helpful and accommodating), and the food is fresh and freshly prepared. I had a cheeseburger with a quite good garlic aioli, grilled onions, and some nicely spicy grilled jalapeños. The unfortunate part was that the burger bun was awfully generic and that the star of the show--a 1/3 pound burger--was more than a little overdone for my taste. Seriously, guys, you don't need to cook everything to well-done; a solid medium will do and keep everyone safe. That said, a side of onion rings was both generous and delicious. So, I liked Eugene Burger Company, and I didn't. No one asked how I wanted my burger cooked, and I generally take that as a sign that they have only one way, and it wasn't to my taste.
