We chose to sit on the self-service side, since we weren't there for the food. You basically find your seat and then walk up to setup your tab and order your beer. Pretty easy. This used to be a chill, casual place with food trucks and outdoor seating, and now it's a swankier indoor spot with booths and a mood-lighting vibe. The interior design is cozy and booths are a nice way to catch up with a small group. I think they're still working on food consistency and getting the menu down pat. My meat-eating friends were enjoying the wings, but one larger wing had blood inside; to the credit of the server, he took it away and brought another plate of wings on the house, and no problems with the second plate. I got the cauliflower with salsa macha. The general flavor and idea for the dish were good, but the dish was SO salty that it was hard to eat. I found myself scraping off the salsa macha to create bites that didn't sting the tongue (I was pretty hungry). It seemed like someone wasn't tasting each component of the dish in the kitchen and sent out a plate that was almost too salty to eat. There aren't a ton of vegetarian options here and it's pricey, so I'm not sure I'll return. I miss the old Coldfire with DOP. read more

I came in here with the family a couple nights ago. It was busy, and we were seated next to the kids play area. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and fries. It came slathered in a spicy mustard. Pickles balanced it when you got a bite, but there wasn't enough. It could have benefitted from more pickles, maybe a coleslaw to really balance it. Another in our party ordered the pork chop. Which he couldn't finish, citing it was too rich and heavy. Again, acid would have helped here. Note the theme of unbalanced dishes. Another ordered a BLT. They were out of normal bread and only had rye. Which it was the whitest rye I've ever seen. But the complaint here was it was over toasted. I watched it being consumed, and it looked liked trying to chew through two croutons with stuffing in the middle. Yet the bacon wasn't crispy. Everybody else in our party was satisfied with their food. Portion size seemed really small. I ate on several appetizers everyone ordered, had a beer, ate all of my meal, and had dessert, and didn't feel very full. Normally I have my husband finish my food for me. I'd imagine he'd walk away and need to go elsewhere for another meal just to feel full. Kitchen was slower than a directionally challenged turtle, so the wait staff had to continuously apologize to multiple tables for the wait times. Which the wait staff was doing their absolute best, and were really helpful. Parking is terrible. It's cramped. My in-laws don't have a large car, a Subaru, and everyone except the driver had to get out prior to parking, just to ensure we actually could get out. Yes, you can park in the lines without too much trouble. But can you get out of your vehicle without smacking into the next car? Nope. Not unless you're Gumby and can snake your way out over the top of the door. Would I return? If I'm spending my own money to eat here, absolutely not. This was a birthday party, and the birthday celebrant chose it. So I had no say, and that was fine. But I wouldn't eat here willingly on my own choosing, especially if my husband is with me due to the small portion size. read more

Tried out ColdFire Brewing Company and had a really good experience overall. The food was solid, service was fine, and the fried pickle appetizer plus the chips were definitely worth ordering. My only complaint was that they were out of mac and cheese as a side order, but somehow still had it available if you ordered the rib platter, a little confusing. What really makes this place stand out is the great selection of beers and cocktails. The space feels clean, modern, and new, which makes it an easy place to hang out. I just wish they had a larger outdoor seating area instead of the small patio with only a few chairs. Overall, we'll definitely be back for the food and drinks. Cheers! read more

We went to their new public house for dinner on a Wednesday and the place was hopping. Their new building is very cool (and not quite done yet!). The new public house is pretty much behind their original spot, overlooking Coburg Road. We sat in a booth with very tall walls that felt very private but I don't feel like I could tell you the vibe of the rest of the restaurant. Since I was sitting in the back of the booth, I could only see two other tables that were along the windows and the traffic going by in the dark. Next time we'll ask not to sit in a booth so we can see more of the restaurant. Our server informed us that the public house was split into two sections. We were in the full-service restaurant part and there was a more casual (order at the counter?) section by the front door for people that just wanted to grab a beer and sit at a communal table. Our server was excellent. Not the typical Eugene service from him! He answered our questions about the beers and brought us tastes and had all the answers ready about the food. They were out of two things (understandable at such a new spot) but I noticed that they had already changed their menu a few times in the few short weeks they've been opened. Yay for seasonal menus!! Our party went super basic and we all ordered the Butter Burger (the butter is mixed into the patty so it helps the burger caramelize) which came with fries. We also split the grilled potato salad(served chilled), which was a good sized portion to split with our group of five. My kiddo got the wings (sauceless) and fries. The updated coldfire is a new, more refined vibe than the previous beergarden and food truck atmosphere. The food is good. But you will pay a pretty penny for it. I will say the service here is always kind and they will track down any allergens you may have to attempt to accommodate your needs. On par with the rest of the rock solid craft brewery scene here in Eugene. Laid back spot with a big covered outside patio in the back where there's also a spot for a food truck. Well made beers with a helpful friendly staff. A majority of the menu when I visited were IPAs. I got a beer flight with their Lager, Pale Ale, & Hazy. For a place that seems to specialize in IPAs they do a great job with their Lagers and Pale Ales too, and that's how you know you're dealing with a great craft brewery when you can taste the quality in every style of beer they make. read more

How anyone can rate them less than 5 stars is beyond me! The staff, the drinks, the food and the atmosphere is 10/10!! I have eaten here with my husband, and now gotten takeout two nights in a row- and the staff always are personable and thoughtful and quick! The food is phenomenal, and the beer is always great! On a recent trip to Oregon, we decided to explore a new city: Eugene. This ended up being our first stop around noon on a weekday, so it was pretty empty. We get some of their beers at home and they've all been excellent and after a long drive a welcome treat. It's located near the river with plenty of street parking nearby. It's a welcoming place with outdoor seating in front and behind. The bartender seemed to be the only staff member and was welcoming to greet us. We each got flights, which aesthetically were some of the prettiest I've seen on the wood and metal boards. The vibe is cozy living room furniture with high industrial ceilings. I loved the open air doors too. We loved all our beer, plus great prices. They have a lot of canned selections packed and ready for takeout. It's too bad we didn't have time to come back, it was a favorite brewery visit on this trip! read more

Went to the new coldfire spot for lunch today. We ordered the fall salad and the grilled apple and potato soup with rye focaccia special. It was delicious although I could have gone for some chunks in the soup instead of it being fully pureed. The rye focaccia was a fun interpretation of focaccia that paired well with the soup. The salad was good but the squash on top was not great. The interior is beautiful although there is still construction going on up stairs and you can hear the noise from that from time to time. Our server Jeff was very friendly and attentive. The menu is small but I look forward to coming back and trying something else in the future. read more

3.5 Stars. So, we got there at 5 on the dot. I asked if we could still get in on Happy Hour. The guy gave us a stern "No." I get it, 2-5 is Happy Hour and a restaurant probably breaks even or loses money on HH, but if you are a new restaurant, maybe want people in to try the restaurant. When we ordered beer, they said they did not have 4oz glasses. He didn't say they were "out of" the glasses. He said they did not have any. Makes no sense if you are a tap house to not have 4oz glasses. So, in order to try different beers we had to order the larger amounts, which is against the point of trying beers. As far as food goes, we had the beer cheese nachos, beer cheese mac and cheese and burger. Chips were too light and broke easily. Burger was good. Mac and cheese was ok. We added steak to the nachos which apparently means about 1oz of steak, so not worth it and the flavor was just ok. Portions were pretty small and we ended up spending $86 after tip for two splitting food and 5 beers. I guess it's really a 3 star, but maybe they read this and improve... read more

I heard their burgers were fantastic. The first time I went, there was no ground beef, therefore no burger. Last night I tried again and ordered the Smash burger, single patty with a side salad. When it arrived, finally, (the kitchen was very slow) I was taken aback by the mediocre presentation. Big bowl-like plate, tiny burger, one handful of salad. It looked like a Happy Meal burger. Nothing on the burger except meat and cheese and a pickle. Did I mention Happy Meal? The menu did not misrepresent the burger but I expected the usual lettuce tomato business. I've been coming into Cold Fire and have been an ardent supporter ever since it was opened when the seating and beer was served in the brewery with food trucks and tents. I have to say it was a much more chill and relaxed environment when that's how they operated. Ever since the restaurant opened. It has felt much more rigid, sterile and controlled and definitely less laid back. It's kind of sad. We've been in the new restaurant three times. Each time something has happened to dampen the experience. The first time I went to order a beer and felt talked down with a bit of an elitist attitude directed at us. I just let it go and chalked it up to the server. The next time it just felt status qui. This last time we came in and ordered a beer and went to sit down, when of if the servers came up to us and said this is the full service side and we'd have to go sit on the bar side. We informed her we were here to order some food as well. She sort of pushed back and still attempted to direct us back to the bar side. We persisted and she let us sit on the side we wanted too, but not in the seat my girlfriend wanted. Her attitude again slightly dampened our experience. Some retraining in customer service is definitely needed. But the vibe of the original cold fire is gone and from what I understand, the brewery side is closed unless it's rented for a private party or larger event. The wood work and architecture in the new side is very well done, but all in all it feels much less funky and fun than the old brewery side and more traditional. I wish both sides were still open. We won't be coming back as frequently as before. read more

The first time we ate here it was great. Good food and service. The second time was not good food or service. They might want to invest in some felt pads for the bottom of their chairs. It is already loud in here because it is industrial and there is nothing to absorb the noise. Went to the new location of ColdFire recently which is a stones throw from the original. The outside of the building is still pretty far from complete but the inside is up and running. Two couples met here for beers. There's a dining area and a bar area separated by a beer and cocktail/ food service area / merch area. Wasn't crazy about the bar area. There are three booths and the rest are four tops or longer community / sharing type tables. It's nice but seems kind of sterile, not much character. Not that much seating in the bar area. It's all self service for the bar area, no waiter service. Haven't tried the food yet but the beer is as good as it's always been. I already miss the original location. First let me say the service staff at Coldfire are warm cheerful and inviting. They are attentive to the needs of the customers and they were best part of the experience . The beer I tried Minute After Midnight was very good and thoroughly enjoyable. Now for the downside. The food. The Butter Burger resembles a regular McDonald's hamburger, the patty is grossly over seasoned and completely unenjoyable. As shown in the picture the bun was burned on the inside and the outside. It was very unpalatable. The Pretzel was large and warmed through nicely however the overall quality of the pretzel was that of a common bulk discount store. They placed four very small slivers of cheese on it that did very little to improve the flavor and appearance of the pretzel. That being said the mustard dipping sauce was very good. The French fries were spot on and very enjoyable particularly with the garlic aïoli that was served with the unimpressive hamburger. And finally let's get to the Delicata squash , unfortunately I will spend the rest of my life trying to remove the taste of that culinary disaster from my taste buds. The appearance of the dish is a complete disaster the aroma is as repulsive as wondering into a public bathroom shortly after someone spent far too long blowing up the toilet. I made the mistake of tasting it, that left a mark. The texture was the best thing about the dish with as poor as the texture was. The flavor was so putrid that I had to spit it into a napkin. It was a totally unpleasant experience. The ambience was warm and inviting. It would've helped if they had a section where kids could be, so the noise does not bother the customers that went to an adult location like a taproom to enjoy an adult beverage. I do believe this establishment does potential. The servers are amazing and the beer I tried was excellent. They do however need to fire whoever has created the menu and the recipes. The food is truly a crime against humanity. I truly hope they can get the quality of the food under control. Recently stopping in for a beer and snack. I had the Tangerine Apricot Sour Beer. It was fantastic. I loved the underlaying fruity flavors. First off the parking lot is horrible. Spaces are way too small, it's so tight you can barely get in a space, doesn't set a great tone. Food is meh. Salad was a pile of greens, absolutely nothing special, with a few nuts and a few pieces of squash 12.00. Very limited menu, especially if you don't want fried meat. Long have I wanted to try Coldfire and when it finally happened and I am so very happy it finally did I was most satisfied and pleased with the beer experience that I had. Steve had to agree as well to this. We had three different beers from Coldfire and we loved them all so I have the firm belief that it doesn't really matter what you get here. Out of all likelihood it will be an enjoyable beer drinking experience. So without further ado onto the beers that we had. We thought so very highly of the Cold Lite which is an American Light Lager. This was so extraordinarily refreshing! Flavor features with this beer are biscuity and clean. It's also very effervescent, smooth and light bodied. It's a version I guess you could say of corporate light lagers which are usually stale and boring but when a smaller craft brewery does one it's almost always good. Another beer we had was the Cumulus Tropicalus. It's an IPA and we really liked this one as well which is really saying something as sometimes IPA's aren't as memorable as one may think. They all just run together in my mind more often than not. But this was not the case with this IPA. Flavors to have a fun time with for this beer are tropical, citrus, clean and hoppy. The beer itself is pleasantly bright in appearance. And the final beer that we had was the Easy Tiger Pilsner. We liked this beer too but perhaps not as much as the other two beers prior. Flavor features with this pilsner are crisp, floral, lemony and sweet. The beer is also very light bodied. Would love to get a hold of more beers from Coldfire again and they have plenty of other beers to explore but a return or two to that Light Lager and IPA may need to be in order as well. read more

The new place is beautiful inside, lots of seating. I was happy to see a cocktail menu along with beer/wine. I had a Whiskey Sour and it was great! Always have loved coldfire and was stoked about the new spot. We've been loving it, especially with the kids wall however, seems to be going through some growing pains. Portions are getting smaller, and by smaller I mean instead of half a chicken for the roast chicken, it's a leg. $21 for a chicken leg and fries. Was it good? Sure. But not $21 for a few bites of meat good. I honestly wish I would have taken a picture, it was shocking. Chicken wings are the saving grace here, those are fantastic. Extremely expensive for 6 wings, but good nonetheless. Carrot Caesar wanted to be good, but oddly unsatisfying. We enjoyed this spot for a few months but will probably have to pass for future visits, at least until some kinks can be worked out. read more

It was the pizzeria truck (Pizzeria DOP) that brought us to ColdFire Brewing (another review). The beer was awesome. I had a black IPA and hubby had a Thursday Friday IPA. Our guests had the tropical IPA. The beer was very good, but the service was even better. Our sweet new rescue dog was greeted with some dog treats and the person working there came by and told us what a gooddog he was. The brewery has food trucks on both sides of the brewery so it made a great place to stop for a bite and a beer. The best part was being able to bring our new doggo and enjoy a brew. Parking is close-on the street, and they had plenty of toys to keep our wonderful 3-year old granddaughter happy. read more

As far as a brewery goes this is my fave in Eugene. Excellent beer, great selection, and awesome food carts. It's a big space and their outdoor seating out back is covered and heated in the cold and wet months. Service is always friendly. I wanted to like this new spot as the building is cool and the vibe inside with the industrial feel is welcoming and interesting. The staff is friendly, we were seated right away and our server was attentive and timely. It was only moderately busy on a Friday at about 12:15. Unfortunately the food was underwhelming. I had a braised beef sandwich that was supposed to have sautéed onions and crème fraiche on it. Unfortunately I could barely find any onions, the crème fresh was not well represented either. The remaining sandwich was fairly dry and lacked flavor. My dining companion had the butter burger and was also not impressed. It was to have a special sauce that was barely noticeable, and the burger was just overall flat and lacked seasoning and flavor. The French fries were mediocre and lacked seasoning. The dipping sauce that was deemed to be a garlic aioli was more like melted garlic butter. The pub has a small menu, so I am hoping that over time they will improve upon the flavor and master the menu. I will give this place another try in a few months after they have had time to work things out. read more
