Avocado Curry Noodle
Marty K.

Delicious! I had the Avacado green curry, Tom Kha with muscles, and the Pockets of Love. I love Tom Kha and is was a nice surprise to have a slightly spicier version and with truly the best muscles I've had in a decade. I'd never had an Avacado green curry prior to this and would def go back for this. The Pockets of Love exceeded my expectations of a Rangoon style app, similar but generous n top shelf on flavor. The restaurant accommodated me without a reservation, I simply had to wait short while(it was a busy Friday eve). Highly recommend this place and also getting a reservation. Fantastic food, staff, and ambience.

We hadn't been here in a long time but received a gift certificate so we got to come back for the first time in many years. The first time we went I got the pad se eww and my husband got the cashew chicken. The second time we came I got the pad kua kai with the lettuce, it is a less common dish than pad se ew but still had those delicious rice thick rice noodles and I was not disappointed! The servers are friendly and attentive as well. Sabai does all of these things well and the atmosphere is great elevated Thai date night vibes. We need to come here more often for sure!

I am excited to try this restaurant, we ordered the Thai sausage ( a bit spicy ), yellow curry with chicken, fried rice noodles with beef, every dish is delicious and big portions, service is great too

Sabai is probably the best place in town for Thai food. They're usually busy every time we go, which just shows how popular they are, but we love how easy and smooth the takeout process is. This time, we ordered the yellow curry with rice, Pockets of Love, crab rangoon, Pad Kee Mao, and Pad Prik King. As always, the food was delicious. We especially appreciate that you can customize your spice level to your liking. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and satisfying. We always recommend Sabai to anyone looking for great Thai food in town.

Consistently good! There are a few good Thai options in Eugene but the consistency of service, food quality, and experience places Sabai at a top tier. Whether it's a business lunch, drinks with friends, or post shopping snack... it is the highlight of the block.

Panag salmon curry

Excellent, creative food & drinks! Great customer service as well. Panang Salmon Curry, Avocado seafood noodle dish & Pad Thai chicken. Drinks: their signature one with gin, muddled basil, other green one with cucumber & their version of a lemondrop with ginger!

My wife had the Yellow Curry and I had the Pad Thai.

We love coming to eat weather it's lunch or dinner. We love the friendly customer service when we come in,it's always quick and prompt. We love being able to relax and have a delicious something to eat. Can't wait to come back soon.

Very good Thai food! The decor itself isn't anything special and the tables feel kinda close together depending on where you sit. I started with the Crimson cocktail, which was good but nothing special or unique. For appetizers, my friends and I split the Vietnamese Wings and the Coconut Prawns. The wings were recommended by our server and they were absolutely phenomenal! This is something that everyone should try and I would get every single time and never get tired of it. The coconut prawns were also good. The prawns were fresh and breaded very nicely, but no one liked the dipping sauce it came with. For dinner, we split the Pad Ke Mao and the Crispy Thai Basil. Out of the two, my favorite was the crispy thai basil because it was packed full of flavor and everything was perfectly balanced and seasoned. The pad ke mao was really good as well, but it was just too oily for my liking. Overall, great place! The vietnamese wings were to die for and now I'm craving them again after writing this.

Dead Man Walking. Great cocktails here.

Wow, Sabai. Fresh ingredients, creamy curry, excellent cocktails, and a fun atmosphere. Cute bar area and well lit restaurant. It's so inviting here and such yummy food. I, of course, had my go-to dish, Panang Curry. It was made perfectly and correct, with green beans & kaffir leaves. I've been disappointed lately by other Thai places using broccoli instead of green beans and one place even put potatoes in my Panang. That was a sad meal. But Sabai is the happiest Thai food I've had in a long time. Their tofu was lovely, and the texture was spot on. My partner had the Mussaman Curry and raved the creamy sauce, and of course the potatoes that are a vibe in this type of curry. We loved the garden rolls and every lip smacking, fresh flavor. Our server was cheerful and genuine. We enjoyed the drink recommendations, too. Water filled often and checked in how things were. We loved our meals so much that we also got take out later before making the drive back to Corvallis. The setup for takeout was so efficient and smooth. 5 stars all around. What are y'all waiting for? Get in here!

Sabai Cafe & Bar Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Sabai Cafe & Bar

Totally new to town, but heard this is the best Thai. How/where's parking? TIA! :-)

Lots of parking at Oakway Center where this restaurant is located, including a parking garage. You can access Sabai through the courtyard which is really accessible from any parking lot.

Can you make reservations on line?

No you have to call

Their phone is disconnected?

It's not disconnected, they are so popular and they get so overwhelmed with orders that they stop answering sometimes when they can't keep up with the demand. It's the best Thai food I've ever had.

Does sabai have a happy hour?

no, i dont think so

It is super moody and dark inside in the best way, and the atmosphere feels very hidden and intentional. We tried a bunch of the small plates and every single one was delicious. I loved my cocktail, and I believe I ordered the Bee's Knees. It was so good. Overall, this place is a great experience. I would totally come back the next time I am in Eugene.

Starlight Lounge: Where Eugene's Secret Broadway Rejects Serenade You (And It's Weirdly Good)…read more Gave the Starlight Lounge a whirl last Sunday for their karaoke night. Expectations were set somewhere between "drunken caterwauling" and "mildly painful nostalgia." Color me... surprised! Let's cut to the chase: the *talent* here. Eugene, who knew? Several performers weren't just "good for karaoke," they were legitimately, bafflingly excellent. Like, "should probably be charging admission or at least bothering Broadway agents" levels. One individual in particular possessed the kind of voice that makes you wonder why they're belting show tunes in a dimly lit Eugene bar on a Friday and not, you know, on a stage where people pay actual money. It was impressively non-awful. Actually, scratch that. It was great. Shockingly so. Drinks? Perfectly serviceable. Major points for the extensive non-alcoholic menu. They seemed genuinely willing to de-booze pretty much anything on request, which is handy if you're the designated listener to Eugene's hidden musical theatre gems. Staff were friendly enough, didn't seem phased by the slightly goth-adjacent vibe the place cultivates. Points for atmosphere. The singer's area wins for comfort - actual couches you can sink into while contemplating the life choices that led that phenomenal voice. The DJ deserves a medal. Actively prowling the darker corners of the bar, gently coercing the shy into public performance? Effective. Almost concerningly so. They offer food (didn't try it, smelled... present), and there are the obligatory video gambling machines for those who enjoy losing money slightly more efficiently. Now, the rating. 3+ stars.*** Why not higher? Look, it's a solid experience. Friendly, talented, comfortable, good drinks (alcoholic or not). But it's the Starlight Lounge, not the Met. Manage expectations. It's a pleasantly nice hidden gem, truly. Emphasis on gem but also on hidden and possibly on the faint scent of... well, I didn't try the women's restroom this time. That particular adventure, and its potential to swiftly terminate an evening "May or may" not determine if one needs to head home cause she's unable to use a disgusting toilet) is reserved for my next visit. A critical data point, one might say. Overall- Surprisingly excellent karaoke talent (seriously), good drinks (booze-free options aplenty), comfy vibe, proactive DJ. Minus points for existential questions raised by the talent pool's location and the looming bathroom inspection. **3+ stars. Good job, guys. Keep it up! P.S: it was ass FREE less the drinks etc... SCORE! 3 out of 5 = Good Job Helping hands; improve and attract more customers. 1. Partner with Downtown Hotels: Drop off flyers/promo cards at hotel concierge desk highlighting your surprisingly Broadway-level karaoke and extensive mocktail menu - perfect for tourists looking for unique, non-club nightlife. 2. Advertise Themed Nights in "The Weekly": Run simple, recurring ads or event listings for specific karaoke nights (e.g., "Showtune Sundays," "80s Power Hour") in Eugene's free weekly paper - targets locals planning their week. 3. Leverage Social Media Snippets: Post short video clips (even just 15-30 seconds!) of your best singers (with permission!) on Instagram/Facebook; yes even facebook. Showcase the talent & vibe - proof beats description. 4. Promote Mocktails Specifically: Add a dedicated "Zero Proof Stars" section to your drink menu/online & mention it explicitly in ads. Eugene's health-conscious crowd will notice. 5. Offer a "First-Timer" Perk: Give a small discount on a well drink or mocktail to anyone the DJ recruits to sing for the first time. Lowers the barrier, rewards participation. Good luck & I have faith you will continue to make wonderful cherished memories.

I've lived here for around 5 years, and another 15 years up in Salem and this little restaurant is a gem in every respect. I've been to Rye at least 4 times since moving here. I had heard about it from friends and so my partner and I first tried it out and were highly impressed with the food, the servce and the ambiance. The menu is just a bit limited but between the specials and the menu offerings, there was plenty to choose from. Above all, what they do, they do very well. I and my partner ate at Rye three nights ago and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience in every way. AMBIENCE... The dining room is terrific. Lots of dark wood. The lighting of the room is especially conducive to privacy but not isolation. Inasmuch as it was raining to beat the band when we arrived, entering felt like a welcoming respite. The patrons' chatter was subdued but clearly they were having a great time. FOOD... We ordered cocktails (I enjoyed a Cocchi Rye whiskey cocktail which was delicious. The French onion soup I ordered was also very tasty and loaded with mozzarella atop the cup. I then dived into a "special" plate of a Chinook salmon fillet, finished perfectly and sitting on a bed or pureed squash. Excellent, I thought. Afterwards, we shared some sort of fruity pastry, sharing with two forks. SERVICE... From where I sat I could watch the bar activity, even the service window into the kitchen allowed me to watch all the activity. Our server was very efficient and cheerful and engaging without being overbearing in any way. AFTERTHOUGHTS: I will be coming back, of course. Rye is where you want to go to have a very good time eating out. You're not going to spend an arm and a leg to eat there but Rye is definitely not Denny's. We went to the SkyBar and found it to be a smallish yet convenient place to wait for guests or visitors along with getting a drink or a bite to eat. The bar looks like it can accommodate about 30 people in the interior. There is a nice outdoor patio that can easily accommodate more when the weather is nice. The barkeeper was very attentive and observant, he took our food and drink requests at the bar and in short order, everything was presented. I had a Moscow Mule that I found to be a refreshing drink. Ginger beer, lime and vodka. An excellent combination. I also had an order of the chicken wings and fries. The fries were a normal shoestring variety, cooked well, nicely salted and came in a metal bowl. The wings I found to be outstanding! I don't usually get wings this well made unless I do it myself. I received 8 wings coated with barbecue sauce on a charcuterie board with the fries. The wings were served nicely hot. The meat was piping hot, juicy and tender. The barbecue coating was a hearty middle of the road sauce, not sweet or too smoky. It was caramelized perfectly for that sticky texture and flavor. Definitely a nice coating. Thankfully the bartender brought us a lot of napkins. The wings and fries made for a satisfying meal. The bar boasts a couple of gas fireplaces that make for a warming environment with a few semi private tables. There is a longer table for a larger group as well as several smaller tables and a few bar stools for game watching. All in all we found the bar to be a cozy semi-private environment, yet available to the guests as they come and go. All around, a nice meeting area and watering hole.
