Looking for late night food can be challenging, especially when one of your group is gluten-free, so finding this place was great. By the time we got there, the only food available was from The Nave but their corn dogs were gluten-free and they don't fry anything that has gluten in it so even the french fries were doable! I had a smash cheese burger and yes, it was smashed. The inside seating area was charming - it's a converted church so all the stained glass, wooden railings, etc. were kept as part of the decor. The outside seating area wasn't covered enough to find tables that weren't being rained on but we soon found a spot at one of the long tables inside. Perfect! Our food was ready quickly and we devoured it. Easy to find location and some day, we'll be back to try something else. read more

Saw some promising names on the the taplist but no actual good beers. Was told I could only try two beers, laughable (I was trying to find something decent, not get drunk off of tasters). This place was great! Tons of seating and food options. The service was ok some of the food took a long time to get but it was busy. It may be an old church as it was set up and the windows were all stained glass. I tried the Tonalli Latin cuisine tacos. I got the Barbacoa taco and chicken. The tacos are overfilled almost hard to eat with way too much meat but the flavor was good. I enjoyed the cabbage in the tacos for a nice fresh crunch. The chips and guacamole were good they tasted fresh made. We also got pizza which was very soggy crust and falling apart would not get again. Terrible Service and Food - We ate at the Nave Kitchen and unfortunately the experience was disappointing. When we asked questions about the menu, the server seemed inconvenienced by even basic inquiries, which set an uncomfortable tone from the start. The $14 smash burgers were the biggest letdown. They were so overcooked and thin that the patties had a Swiss‑cheese‑like appearance, with holes throughout and barely any actual meat -- nearly see‑through. Even my husband, who prefers his burgers well‑done, couldn't enjoy them. Had we not had a 2.5‑hour drive ahead, we would have asked for them to be remade or requested a refund. The fries were fine but nothing special; basic frozen shoestring fries. Surprisingly, the best‑tasting item was our son's small shake, which was $8. For that price, I expected a larger portion. I did notice that the to‑go shakes come in bigger cups, so if anyone orders one, I'd recommend getting it to go to actually receive the amount you're paying for. The ambiance initially seemed nice, but the service overshadowed it. Even after tipping before receiving our food, there was no acknowledgment or appreciation, and the interaction felt curt and disengaged. The Nave Kitchen Fried Chicken is the worst. I'm really disappointed with my recent order. The fried chicken was extremely dark brown and looked over-fried. When I went back to ask, I was told it's just deep fried and the spice is dark brown -- but this wasn't just seasoning color. The quality and texture clearly reflected overcooking. I had taken out, otherwise I would surely rerun. What's even more disappointing than the food was the response. Instead of acknowledging the issue, I felt like I was given an explanation that simply wasn't honest. Very poor quality and even worse customer service. I won't be returning. read more

Another (semi-perm) food truck style place to gather in lane county! The benefit the public house has over other establishments is that this location and building his historic, beautiful and HUGE. The variety of food is nice and the fact that you can also get beer AND alcohol makes this place more varied compared to its "food truck" competition in the area. They also have a pet friendly seating area and love music on some nights as well as over a dozen beers in tap. Food service is convenient as you can physically stand in line at a food vendor or conveniently order from your table with an app that has all the food vendors and drink vendors in one place and items will be brought to your table. read more

I love the concept of Public House. It's an old church that has been remodeled/revitalized and turned into a huge gathering space with multiple restaurants inside with a big focus on craft beers and cocktails. Restaurants themselves and customer service are hit and miss, and I've reviewed each that I've tried on their own pages. But definitely do your research on them. My favorite part about Public House is the outdoor space. For being outside, it is pretty much completely enclosed, warm, comfortable, and actually a pretty perfect place to grab a drink and get some work done if I don't want to work at home. It is rare I've found a place I actively like working at that isn't home, and this is it for me. Would I return? Yes, definitely. The only reason this place gets 4 stars is I'd like to see better/different restaurants there. I was on a weekend gal pal trip from out of state and stopped by Springfield during our wine tasting tour, but we wanted to get lunch first and happened to spot Public House. We instantly could tell it would be a winning spot for us. The building is a renovated church that retained its beautiful stained glass windows. Inside was a food court with a decent variety of cuisine options, and I instantly honed in on a smash burgers joint called Tiny's West Coast Kitchen (which I later learned only opened about 3 weeks prior). There was also a large beer hall that offered a range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic pours from across the PNW region. I ended up with a Springfield-brewed cider that had notes of pineapple Dole whip, mango, and vanilla - a perfect complement to my juicy smash burger and fries. It was a delicious lunch that filled my stomach and the rest of my senses too. I recommend y'all stop by when in Springfield, it's not just the murals and the wine! read more

Love Public House, but it kinda grinded my gears, when I got a fresh, generous sized, salad at Tiny's, West Coast Chicken, with delicious house made ranch, but the dressing that came with it, was in a small paper cup-like one you put ketchup in-that was around 2Tbs. Was grudgingly given another one but still wasn't near enough to dress my salad. When I asked for more, to go, I was told I would be charged. Understandable, if I was ordering something not assumed to be included, but confused, why I would have to pay xtra for something that is required to complete a meal I already bought. We went over to the whiskey lab that was nicely air conditioned. I ended up ordering an old fashioned that was good. For food we ordered spring rolls that were ok. Later ordered a salmon burger, fried tofu with Japanese noodles, and fish taco. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We also ordered chips and salsa. The salsa was almost too hot to eat. Located in a former church house, it has been transformed into a magical food truck court via church house! SO COOL! Immaculately clean, I'd eat off the floor. Truly, they keep the place spotless, bathrooms included. There are so many food options from a Chili stand in the back, to burgers, to Mexican food, to sushi options, to fish & chips, full bar, wine bar, beer bar... I can keep going and going. it was amazing! Sit in the heart of the sanctuary while you enjoy your dinner and drink or slide away to the side vestibule and enjoy in a more quiet private area. There are so many options, outdoor seating as well! I see a few naysayers of the price. Food isn't cheap... go to the grocery store and actually pay attention... the price point for Public House is ON POINT. Shout out to all the staff who made our experiences wonderful. Sure, it used to be a church. And they serve up beer & other spirits whilst you sit on the repurposed pews. The stained glass might conjure memories of Sunday sermons, but the message that is really being served is COMMUNITY. There is no shortage of choices if you want to go enjoy a glass of craft beer or Oregon wine in the Eugene/Springfield area. But Public House offers up over a dozen styles of craft beer and marries that with a space that is fully utilized, both inside and out. Add in a small handful of separate 'food kitchens', large, picnic-style tables that can be shared amongst friends or new friends-to-be, and the community aspect just gets brewing. You can saunter up to the bar and order a glass of beer on tap, a craft cocktail, or a fine glass of Oregon wine. The choices of beer are both local and non (hello, von Trapp from Vermont) and range from dark to light with everything in between. If that is all you're there to have, then find a seat inside or out and enjoy. You can also scan the QR codes that are at the tables, view the food and drink menus, and a server will bring your selection(s) to your table. I would suggest anything from Shalosh or Pizza Cue (pizza in cast iron!) but the vendors are varied. The 'outdoor' areas are sensational, covered and heated for weather's sake, or able to be opened on comfortable afternoons or evenings. The nooks that a church offers could make it fun to explore, like 'The Study', which sounds like a Clue room ('so the suspect was Colonel Malt, in the Study, with the hazy IPA'). There is even a Whiskey Lab, which seems curious and daunting all at once. But the overwhelming sense of *community* is infused throughout Public House. Like German bierhalles, the community can gather, sit with one another, and enjoy. Isn't that what a church often brings, a social fabric that can be woven and remade time and again? Pets are welcome, mostly because dogs are better than a lot of humans, and all ages are allowed because, hello, community. Find your neighbor or even complete strangers, introduce one another, find commonality, or just enjoy discourse. Now more than ever community should hold great importance as we navigate division. I would bet that we could solve any number of world problems with lively conversation over a glass, or several glasses, of beer. read more

I really like the public house. The restaurant is in an old church. I've been here a handful of times and I think I'm the most happiest with their current food options than ever. The Indian food takes a really long time to get your food, but other than that everything has been spot on! The bar staff is always nice. I miss the cafe in the bar area, but the library seems really cool! They said you can even rent it out for parties! All in all it's a great hang out spot where everyone can get whatever food they want. Somewhat reminiscent of a food truck court. There is a back patio with heat lamps too! read more

This is my favorite kind of review to write - 5 stars, no reservations! It was a weird day that found my spouse and I in the Eugene-Springfield area with no plans. We could do this or that, but nothing was all that appealing. My spouse made the executive decision to go check out the Simpson's mural in Springfield. As we were driving into town, we both admitted that despite living in Oregon for 20+ years each and being to Eugene several times, neither of us had ever been to Springfield! How weird. The murals were great (yes, plural - make sure to walk about a bit and see the many Simpson's and non-Simpson's murals in the downtown area), but this Public House really made our day! It's a beautiful old church converted into a true Public House. There are several restaurants and a large tap selection including plenty of NA options (soda, diet soda, etc.) and loads of seating both inside and out. We arrived right at opening so it was quiet and we chose seating in The Study where we enjoyed our drinks and played a few rounds of Cthulu Fluxx. I've since learned that this space is rentable, so maybe we weren't supposed to be there? It was perfect, because no one else ever came in and there was a bathroom right there. When we left, the place was ROCKIN'! I had said, I hope Springfield appreciates what they have here and it's obvious they do! Tons of people, dogs (outside) and friendly vibes surrounded us as we left. I wish we had a large fantastic space like this Portland - it would be my favorite hangout. We heard about this unique spot when we were in Oregon- it's an old church renovated into food, beer & seating areas inside & outside- really beautiful! You choose where you want to order as they're all separate choices/ counters. We started with some delicious beers & sat outside in a nice spot since we had our puppies. Then decided on food. My daughter wanted a burger so she got a cheeseburger with tater tots to share- so delicious-juicy & flavorful & the tots were hot & crispy. My husband preferred Mexican food so he got us a beef burrito & a pulled pork taco to share- they were presented beautifully with yummy sauces & garnishes- the burrito was our favorite but the taco was delicious as well. It's ok, has multiple food vendors so the dining/food experience is inconsistent in a hodgepodge kind of way. We (The Royal We) have been there 3 times so far and tried different vendors with the upside "Lots of Good Stuff on Tap!" . The old church has been repurposed into a very pleasant place to sit and have food with friends. Don't get the ramen. I got the pork belly one expecting it to be hopefully tender bbq pork.. instead it was overcooked chinese bbq that was being hydrated in my broth. Also, pickled ginger was put into my ramen... the noodles were not the typical ramen noods as well. Garlic shrimp was good, but heavy on the salty and sweet.
