I've been going to Nelson's in The Whit for a while now and have been meaning to write a review for them for some time. These guys are great. First of all, you will not leave hungry. Their portions are gigantic! They are affordably priced, and their food is always tasty. I've never been and have had poor service; everyone who works there - whether I sit at the bar or in the restaurant - is always so friendly and attentive. I think this is a great place to go especially with groups because you're able to split a lot of different things on their menu. Lastly, their drinks are fantastic! I love their house margarita as it never disappoints. If you haven't given this place a try yet I definitely recommend it!

Stopped by for a drink while exploring Eugene. We sat out on the covered porch. Our party ordered a beer and three margaritas. The owner Nelson was our server. Very nice and friendly guy. He brought out a couple of baskets of chips and really chunky salsa. It was some of the best restaurant salsa I have ever had. Glad we stopped by.

We're originally from SoCal and stopped in Eugene after a long drive. Only a few places were open past 9pm, so we tried this out since it was a 2 min drive from the Airbnb. Last night, we ordered Carne Asada fries and a Super Burrito with asada, but unfortunately when we got to our place, we did not get the correct order. The food was also cold and soggy, as if it had been sitting for awhile. This morning I called trying to explain the situation, and was told they could not do anything about it and why I didn't call last night. However, when we got to our place, it was already past 10pm and nobody answered when I called. We went about our day and came back later in the evening today to explain again. I was told the same thing, they could not do anything about the situation. They also tried to say that they were not a corporation, and a local business, but didn't take any accountability for the mistake. I was also told that i should be more grateful and not want to waste food. I understand this perspective, but from a service standpoint, I paid for a meal that I did not receive and was dissatisfied with the service and quality. I then explained that I was not from the area, and the person I talked to said they don't care and that they hope they never see me again. I received a refund in cash after this exchange, which is why I left 2 stars rather than 1. However the conversation I had today was alarming, rather than take accountability and mediate the situation, the person chose to attack the customer and even express distaste. Unacceptable. I would still love to give this place another chance as the food looked good and the interior was very cosy.

Trivia: What is the different between a taquitos and a flauta? What I don't recommend is eating the habanero slice in their delicious special drink, the Mango Margarita. Whewwwww! I like things spicy, but that beverage was Hottt! Everything else, highly recommend. The chips and salsa were on the milder side, but you could ask for their hot salsa (picture included), which was chunkier and SPICY. Still tasty even as the heat increased. The type of salsa you tell yourself to stop eating cause your mouth is on fire but you can't. It's just too good. As for food, we went for the sampler platter and it had something for everyone including sour cream for the inferno boil of my mouth and for dipping taquitos. Indoor and outdoor seating. Excellent service.

i was in town and staying in the neighborhood so figured i'd give their take out a whirl. i ordered through the yelp app, added a tip, paid through apple pay and got an email saying when my food would be ready. when i walked in to pick up my order, the person working in the bar area asked to see the order because it apparently hadn't been relayed to the kitchen. she copied down the order i'd paid for and said it would be 10min. when i returned it was bagged up and ready. despite the ordering kerfuffle, i asked for future reference what the best way to order take out is. note to self: call in orders! (gotcha!) my maiden voyage choice was the chile relleno burrito. i'm a vegetarian so u didn't add any protein or additional ingredients and it was tasty as is! i'll acknowledge i was hungry but it was plenty filling as well. i'd definitely come back or order take out again, especially either way the intent to explore other menu items.

Very friendly, food smells amazing, looks amazing and didn't disappoint! A+++++ I was walking by and wanted to stop in just for one drink, but stayed for a taco and a second drink. Also offering Order to go!

I thought Nelson's was just OK. Here's the breakdown. The drinks were great and truly saved the experience! Moscow mule and mojito were perfectly mixed! We also loved the chips and salsa - GREAT restaurant chips. What really feel flat was the actual entree: a wet burrito. The inside had barely any meat and frequently I had bites with hard rice! I couldn't identify any driving flavor, even with the enchilada sauce on top. The prices aren't outlandish (although the wet component of the burrito added an additional $4!) but I still expected more than a flavorless burrito with hard rice as the major filling. Might be worth going back to try something else.

Hard to see under the red light but I ordered chicken enchiladas and a margarita.

Stumbled upon this cute little gem in Eugene. I can honestly say, these are probably some of the best enchiladas I've had in Oregon. The sauce tastes homemade and there's the right amount of it on the enchiladas. Chips were fresh and their salsa was good. I love a good margarita and mine was a little too bitter, but after adding more simple syrup is was perfect (for me tastes buds--I'm sure folks enjoy theirs that way, but I like a sweeter margarita). Service was EXCELLENT! Staff are attentive, happy and honestly had such positive energy.

Ahhh such a fantastic meal and top notch service! Upon arrival a staff member opened the front door for us. We had the option of inside seating or outside on the large covered patio. We opted for the outdoor patio. Jordan, our server, was awesome! Super attentive, clever banter, great drink & dessert suggestions! Speaking of dessert, Traci crafted up a delicious Churro Bowl pictured below! Word on the street is that her flan might be even tastier! I'm fairly certain Jordan said that she guest bakes on Friday and Saturday nights! Tonight (a Saturday night) they also were selling tickets for bachata dance lessons in the courtyard behind the patio! Tickets come with a complimentary margarita (maybe a little liquid courage to get folks out there groovin) Nelson's, & people who made it this far into the review.. I apologize that these photos aren't my best work and certainly don't do the real presentation and vibrant colors justice! I couldn't quite get the lighting right. Can't wait to come back! Such a delicious and fun experience!

The least hospitable restaurant experience I have ever had. Also, the food as incredibly bland and the cocktail poorly executed.

Upon entering, we only were able to find high table seating on metal, backless stools and one low seater booth. I am physically unable to sit on those high stools due too balance issues because I have had Multiple Sclerosis for 16 years now. I may look " normal" while sitting still but my mobility and balance are an ongoing struggle in my life and has robbed me of so much. My husband got us waters then got in line when i noticed a sign on the table saying to please order before getting a table. My husband was already in line and ready to order and pay for our food. Less than a couple of minutes of me sitting there I was approached by a blonde staff member and she touched the table and asked me if I had someone in line to order. I replied that I did. She then told me that there's a long line building up and that I would need to leave the table because we hadn't yet placed an order. I explained to her that I am disabled ( even though I should not have to even do that ) and that I'm physically unable to sit at the high tables. That the only available low seats, inside and outside, were all taken other than this one booth. She then repeated what I had just told her and then asked again if I could only sit at the low tables, to which I replied yes. I was then told that I needed to leave the table and could go sit on a bench by the door and wait there and that the rules are for everyone regardless of the situation. I was so embarrassed and shocked that I started to tear up and told her that we would leave and went to motion to my husband that we had to go. As soon as we got to the car I started to cry and he was asking what was going on. He was so upset that he went inside to talk to the manager. He explained everything that happened and that I'm disabled and there was nowhere else for me to sit and eat. She apologized and said I could make a reservation to come back later for a low table. He told them no and that I was already embarrassed and crying. I'm trying to figure out how, since there was an open table that accommodated my needs and I was there, why this was such an issue. There was plenty of seating open but the tables were tall. What if there's another person unable to order for themselves because of a disability or they're elderly etc. ? Maybe make all tables low tables if a rule like that is being implemented? The business was happy to take our money but wouldn't give ea place to sit and eat. On a good note, we wound up going to Laughing Planet and had not only excellent service but really good food. I got the Korean BBQ Bowl with chicken, which they happily subbed for me, and it was so fresh and good. I really loved the quick pickles that came on it and would recommend it to anyone to try.

My son and I went for an early Saturday dinner so the place wasn't crowded. Nonetheless they got the food out pretty quickly, maybe 10 minutes for the first dish. If you like Kimchee, get the 3 kimchee sampler. It's easily enough for 3 to share, likely 4 or 5. We were only two and thus couldn't finish it. All 3 varieties were pretty good. They were flavorful and not overly spicy. I tried pork belly and grilled shrimp tacos. 2 tacos is about right for a meal as far as I can tell. A small person might get away with only one but it wasn't enough for me. I loved the pork belly taco. My son had a burrito bowl which he thought was decent. It's an interesting fusion of 2 cultures, which I liked and would return to try again. My son was not as impressed, and probably won't be back. I would recommend it.

The restaurant was really clean, and there were plenty of booths and tables. There's a register at which you place your order. The prices seem a bit high. The food was good; I'm not sure what my sister thought of her pork belly taco, but the guacamole and tao salad I got were excellent if a bit disappointing. I know that sounds confusing! The guacamole was like $7 for a small container, maybe like a two ounce portion cup? It was good and there was a lot of lime, but that's truly wild for such a small amount. They gave us about three times as many chips as would be necessary for that amount. As for the taco salad, again it was good (and the Korean-Mexican fusion comes in here in that the chicken had some kind of sauce on it, akin to teriyaki sauce), but they gave NO hint that because our order was to go, it wouldn't be in a taco bowl. What???! I don't know about anyone else, but one of the things I love about a taco salad is that crunch along with the salad fillings. If she'd told me that by ordering to go it wouldn't have come with the bowl, I wouldn't have ordered it. It also feels like a real scam to charge folks the same for a major part of the item that they're not getting. They should be charging less for a to-go salad if they're going to pull that kind of nonsense. Hence the three star rating. Good food, but questionable practice. No dedicated parking, but there's street parking around or a paid lot across the street on the southwest corner of Broadway & Pearl.
