Viking Brewery recently closed their south location so we stopped in to visit their main/west location. It's a beautiful oasis in the midst of a bunch of industrial warehouse buildings. They brew their beer here and also have an indoor bar with seating and a food truck outside on the patio. The patio, though, is may favorite spot at this place. It's long and narrow with plenty of seating, shade, and live greenery! There's a stage on one end and they host live music on certain evenings during the summer. You order food and drinks at the bar and pick up the food at the truck. The bartender was friendly and helpful. Fantastic place to bring friends for a low-key hang and dine out. read more

Honestly, i was a little disappointed with this spot:( The service was lacking a bit ( i'm not sure if it was because we weren't members ) but asking about the menu seemed to inconvenience the bartender which was off putting since it was our first time there. Putting all of that to the side we went on and ordered a pretzel that came out dry as a bone and loaded fries with little flavor ( seemingly impossible with all the stuff added on top but it might be the cheese) The one upside is the vibe outside. there are picnic tables and trees that make you feel transported to somewhere else. The outside was beautiful but they definitely have some kinks to work out before i would consider going back. read more

Steve and I from a little while back had Viking Brewing and we liked it pretty well. Reason being that it was a "little while back" is that I have quite the queue for breweries to review so it's a really good thing I jot some notes down so I have at least an assistant in recollecting some beers if not most The beer we had and liked was Freyja Blonde. A good blonde ale for sure. Flavor features with this beer is tea, a clean flavor and my favorite, honey. I love tasting honey in a beer! In body it is smooth and soft. Very good blonde and I loved the logo for the brewery hence a t shirt purchase occurred for future representing when out and about at other breweries. read more

To be clear, this is a review of the West Side Brewery location. This is the chillest place in Eugene. Their outdoor patio on a summer afternoon is one of my happy places. Good beer, good food, and good people (both staff and customers). It might be a little out of the way (seriously, everything in Eugene is only 15 minutes away) , but it is so worth the trip. We have been coming here since it was just a open warehouse and loved it then we had not been in for a little while, so we popped in I had a pretzel. We came here for the market for mutts fundraiser as I have always wanted to try the brewery anyway. The patio is hand down my favorite outdoor space of any brewery in town. So many beautiful plants and the mature hops were absolutely amazing. The beer is fantastic and the service is super friendly. Will most definitely be back soon read more

If you're looking for good beer, but are tired of the typical bar food, then this is the place to try! The beer is excellent and I would go back just for the beer, but the food is even more a pleasant surprise! We tried the smorgasbord platter and loved the frikadeller (meatballs), smoked sausage and pita bread & toum. All was so good that we returned the following week!! From the outside you think strip mall, but instead you step back into the time of the Vikings! A very cool, inviting Pacific Northwest vibe at this somewhat out-of-the-way pub in a commercial district out near w. 11th. and Bertelsen. Lots of outdoor seating with chainsaw carved bears and statues made by Troy, a local tree cutter turned artisan. Warm lights, colors and wood counter-tops and tables make this place a secret gem, not to mention two little stages, (outdoors and indoors) featuring local talent. And an added kudos for the high quality Bose sound-system for the musicians with a speaker pumping the music outside if you choose to enjoy the ambiance from the fresh air and multiple fire pits. The food is also solid, so if you like local live music and beers on tap, you will love this place! I had the burger and my husband had the fish 'n chips. Both were very good. If it weren't so far from our house, we'd probably be here every weekend. Stop in....you'll feel like you discovered a secret hang that only the locals know about. read more

This place is an "almost hidden" gem. We'd been wanting to try it since September when we were here for a wedding. The beers were different than anything I've ever had before in a good way. This place is totally unique, great service, high quality ingredients, delicious food that is definitely a few steps above traditional pub fare, and great beer! My husband and I had the arugula & beet salad, the veggie burger, fries, beer cheese soup, and the meatballs (forget what they're called on the menu) and we were blown away by every single dish. Checked out Viking right after a Duck game, wasn't busy yet but it was only about 5:30 on a Saturday. This was the taproom, which is located in an industrial part of west Eugene and tucked back so much we almost missed it. Lots of outdoor seating and games, but also lots of indoor seating and games! We tried a flight of their braggots, ranging from very dark to very light. We enjoyed 4/5 of them! One was just too stout for us but we really liked the Tundra cream ale. Their website and reviews weren't very clear on whether or not this location has food. I personally didn't see a menu anywhere but when we first got there we saw people with food baskets and when we left, the bartender was bringing someone big soft pretzels. Their location looks like it could support food trucks but I don't know if they do. I think we will return to try some more drinks for sure! read more

I came to Viking Braggot during a scavenger hunt event (which happens every year and is so much fun!). I was so excited and intrigued to find that they make all of their beer with with honey! I tried a flight and had them give me their pick of a variety to sample. While some weren't my favorite, some were super delicious. They had indoor seating as well as outdoor seating with cornhole outside. This place sits in the back of a big warehouse area and next to a couple wine tasting rooms but it's definitely one you should try. We came tonight for trivia, and had a couple pints of the Reverence. This orange blossom infused beer is DELICIOUS. We also ordered the York pizza and oh my dear GOD, it was UH-MAZE-ING. The crust was crunchy but soft, and the feta cheese with peaches alone is enough to freak out.. but the added drizzle of reduced balsamic made this pizza OUT OF THE WORLD. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming. Summer time is also a great time here with the back patio and cornhole. The braggot (beer+mead) was top notch and so was the food and the atmosphere. Roomy, very relaxed and the staff was friendly. We had a slice of pizza that they were experimenting with (basil, strawberry, goat cheese and balsamic vinegar) and it was EXCELLENT. The crust was amazing too. Also ordered a pretzel with cheese and jalapenos which if at a bar you wouldn't expect much, but it was obviously made in house and very good. If you come in on Thursdays, the top row of beers (braggots) are $4. Super sweet deal. They have a couple of top new fans here. read more

Got a referral from another brewery and went to the new location on Willamette and 25th with my fiancé. Jay was super nice and chatted with us while taking our order. We sat in the bar area at one of the beer garden style tables. The beer was delicious and the food was yummy! We got the Wessex pizza and tried the pineapple ipa and the sunna. Yum! Can get a little rowdy, but the drinks are good, and it's a fun place to play card games or pool with your friends. The beers are definitely the draw for me here - they have two tea-based beers. Great beer but their hours of operation is very limited. Closed on Mon-Wed and when they're opened, they close early. Definitely makes me miss NYC & Hong Kong. Even the bars and breweries in SF, Seattle and Portland are opened much later until at least 2am. Their decor is also lacking. Looks like a makeshift tree house with alcohol. They need to shop for some indoor plants and walk arts. Maybe consignment some local artists to display their work on their walls. read more
