My favorite go to breakfast spot. Large selection, good coffee and friendly staff who take good care of you.

The service here was fine, the food just wasn't that great. Nothing we tried was to die for, we got a waffle and some rye sandwich, fries were ok but felt heavy. The waffle was a decent size, tasted fine, no notes really. The prices were decent but honestly I'd rather go elsewhere, better food & portions and better taste overall. Honestly I'd be lying if I said I didn't immediately get a stomachache after eating here, my mom included. Do with that information what you will. Definitely would not return here. read more

Decided to give them another chance because of all the positive reviews after the worst first experience when I first moved here 4 years ago. So glad we did. Greeted upon arrival and seated immediately. The restaurant was full on a Tuesday. Very friendly staff member offered to bring drinks while we waited for our server which was brought right away as our server appeared who was also very friendly and took our order and even dealt with a complicated request from my son in a very patient and good natured manner. The food arrived right away and was very good. My son had chicken fried steak which wasn't on the menu with gravy, eggs and home fries. All of which got 2 thumbs up. My salmon benedict was also very good although the eggs were slightly undercooked I like the whites (albumin) well but they were still good as well as the hollandaise, salmon and home fries. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for breakfast or brunch and will be trying their lunch in the near future. read more

Waited 15 minutes just to get a cup of coffee! Another ten to get our order taken. Pancakes were dry and only given a small 1/8th of a cup syrup. Bacon was dry and black (? Why). The waiter asked me three times what my drink order was, really?! The place wasn't even crowded. Their coffee is that bitter coffee you get at IHOP. We walk in and this place is tight. We see an abundance of tables for two. There are a couple of larger tables towards the back of the room. I'm not sure I understand the motif here as it is obvious that everything there seemed to be a distressed theme and run down, intentionally. The place looked clean enough, just not sure I understand the style of making your place look tired and exhausted, but it is intentional, nobody can possibly do that bad of a paint job on accident, holy cow LOL! Apparently though, this place is supposed to be a hopping location. Several Yelpers I know have given it high marks, so we get a table for four and try it out. This is a small location and driving up, I couldn't even see the small sign out front, it was covered with tree branches. Entering the restaurant we find ourselves standing in a small narrow hallway by a register. As luck would have it, a table for four was available, so we were led down a very narrow path between tables and seated at the back. The tables were an interesting shape but were very roomy and comfortable. Service was very nice. They were courteous and informative and willing to chat about the menu items. The menu itself was surprisingly full with a wide range of options. I opted for the Doña Ana chicken sandwich. It was crisp, hot and delicious. There was a surprise from a little spice heat, not sure if that was the aioli, but overall this sandwich was worth it. The veggies were crisp fresh and cool while the meat was a moist crispy chicken that was hot, the cheese was melted nicely. The ciabatta bun was also well done in that it held together very well and tasted fresh. I had a side of fries and they were the variety that is very crispy and has that baked appearance, not oily in the slightest. The London Fog Tea was far superior to the house coffee (I had a cup of coffee before I found the London Fog). I was very satisfied with the quality and taste of this meal, I'm willing to go back and try some other items. I just don't understand the Stressed Look fashion being desirable these days, the curse of being a Boomer I suppose. I'll be back to try more things though, the food here really is tasty. read more

While I still miss their campus location, these folks offer a dependable and solid spot for a great breakfast. My friend and I ate there this morning and she was amazed at the number of options available for breakfast and lunch. I have my favorites - either huevos rancheros or the eggs Benedict with mushrooms. I continue to believe that there are Benedict sauce is the best in town. They were right on mark, unfortunately the oil needs to be changed. Tasted like old grease. Also a little dark back in the back corner. We recently dined at the Glenwood I had the Ruben sandwich it was ok I probably would not order it again, not a lot of meat and just didn't feel like I was eating a traditional Ruben had it with side of their tomato cheddar soup it had good flavor need some cream it was pretty thick . My husband had the Montana omelette he really liked it said it was very good that is what he usually gets and he is never disappointed. My daughter orders a bacon cheese egg white omelette with peppers and extra bacon on side she also really enjoyed it. Of course the raspberry jam was delicious like always :) I have had really good meals here in the past just the Reuben not for me. we will Be back, The service was great and they were very friendly . I was in the area and between appointments so I decided to stop and try lunch at Glenwood. The interior is styled like a cozy diner and a lot of seniors like me were there. I have been wanting a patty melt for a while so I ordered my patty melt medium rare and a side salad with blue cheese dressing in place of fries. My server took my order and someone else delivered my food. I just had ice water with my meal, but no one ever came around to refill my glass. The side salad was surprisingly good as it had garbanzos and beets on a fresh bed of mixed greens I was very disappointed in the patty melt as the tasty marble rye bread was very greasy and the preformed patty was very dry. The red onions were cut pretty thick and were barely sautéed. I could not tell if there had been a slice of cheese in the sandwich or if it was just some type of cheese sauce. The breakfast menu may be my choice the next time I am in the area. read more

Always excellent food, service and coffee refills :) Home fried potatoes are cooked to perfection with the perfect amount of texture and crunch. Being able to choose to have breakfast all day long is a big plus for me. Rye bread is marble rye bread and it is delicious with the perfect amount of butter. Food is served hot and ready to eat. It can get a bit noisy from loud customers, but a one on one conversation is still very possible. I have nothing negative to say. read more

The Glenwood has improved over the past few years, IMHO. Food and service is great and you get that homemade, friendly vibe there. An Eugene classic, and open for breakfast and lunch. Their menu is extensive and they are always willing to make things vegetarian or vegan for my friend. So she had a tofu scramble (instead of egg scramble) without cheese. I had the chicken and waffle. Good chicken, two royal pieces of tender, well seasoned and crispy but not greasy chicken. The waffle was a bit thin and could have been a bit more crispy to support the chicken, but tasted good. The place was deservedly packed for lunch but service was efficient and friendly. I was here the other day for my usual, Eggs Benedict. I have not been in a while, but am very pleased that the quick pleasant service in a well kept dining room continues. Come in the morning before they run out of hollandaise sauce. You too can have the fabulous, very well prepared dish I typically eat. They have a huge menu and everything I have tried is great. I love Glenwood. It's such a cute brunch/lunch spot. I come here all the time. It gets busy on the weekends so they do have a waitlist. The interior is super cozy and rustic. The menu is huge and everything is delicious. It's great if you want a hearty meal. I love the blt sandwich and their sweet potato fries. The Glenwood is definitely back in action. Their entire extensive menu of breakfasts, sandwiches, burgers, dinner entrees, and more is now conveniently available via convenient online ordering. One evening we ordered the huevos rancheros ($9), the sesame ginger chicken salad ($11), and a tempeh peanut-sauce stir fry ($14). Each came with a soup/side as well (tomato bisque & clam chowder). Overall I was super impressed with everything. Sometimes to-go food doesn't translate well, but over here presentation and quality was not lacking. Everything looked and tasted great. My favorite was the stir-fry. It was a generous amount of tempeh and veggies with just the right amount of peanut sauce + rice. I added a bit of sriracha which took it over the top. It tasted even better out of the fridge the next day. Both soups were great as well. I would order any of those items again. They are doing another cool thing. On weekdays you can order a family dinner (meant for 4 people) for $18. And on the weekend they have family breakfasts. The choices rotate every day, and there are usually veggie-friendly versions too. Check the website to see the latest options, they are good about updating it. I've always loved the Glenwood. Hands down the best breakfast place in town. Great local (strong) coffee. Simple orgasmic bread from Great Harvest. My go to for years has been the Durango Scramble (add avocado). Delightful and overly filling. Their fresh fruit side is actually fresh! When other restaurants offer canned or a pittance of portion... Glewood rolls in with the real deal and generous portions. Nice! I've never ordered a breakfast sandwich and been happy (except for the emergency McDonalds sausage biscuit... I know what I'm getting) but, the last two visits to the Glenwood... I wasn't really hungry.. so, I assumed I'd get this small toasted sandwich. WRONG! It was the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had! So, I had it again. Hearty... eggs cooked perfectly and they have the best bacon! I ask for double-bacon rather than the ham and bacon that comes on the Durango... because I'm not a ham girl... even though I love to "ham it up"! Just go! You're welcome! HO-HUM Service was spotty, food was just okay. A little noisy inside. Just not worth going back. There was nothing wrong with my food, just kinda' skimpy portions and everything needed seasoning. Edson is awesome, and I'm happy he's still here! Glenwood serves great food at decent prices, and it's worth making the trip to their Willamette location now the the campus location is at least for now gone. I'm personally a fan of their salmon Benedict, but I'd doubt you'd be disappointed in any breakfast item they offer! While there's a decently large parking lot, you can always park on the side streets off Willamette as well. Walking a half block isn't a big deal. read more

Very impressed with the dinner takeout. Had the pulled pork and it was fantastic. Hand delivered to the car with smiles. A good portion, with lots of flavor. We tried this joint for lunch and were not particularly impressed. The "special" soup of the day was something called Tomato Cheese. It was like a salty, heavy pasta sauce in a cup. Not like any tomato soup I have had and not tasty. The chicken salad sandwich was quite bleak, alone on a large plate. It featured dry, thin raisin bread, a single leaf of lettuce and some unremarkable chopped chicken and onion with turmeric sauce. $13. The spaghetti was a big plate of noodles with some unremarkable tomato sauce. Rolls turned to concrete when they cooled. Salad was ok. $15. Service was average. Ambiance was lacking. Man this was a great place to have breakfast. They just opened back up from fire. We,(wife and daughter and I) were greeted at the door by Dorian. Let me start by saying..Dorian was prompt and laid back but would not let my wife and daughters coffee go empty. We then were blessed to meet Edson. He was also so attentive to our needs and upbeat. Don't wanna drag this review on..but if you are in Eugene stop here. You will not be disappointed. The food and service was perfect. Edson makes his own version of a habanero sauce. Hadn't tried this place for two years and won't be back for at least another two. The wait was extra long with no one stopping by and giving us status. When food finally came after 35 minutes ( note we ordered at 1 pm so not the busiest time) the burger was a hockey puck, dry and way overcooked. Maybe breakfast items are OK. After a series of very disappointing experiences returning to my favorite restaurants post-pandemic; I was initially scared to return to the Glenwood-- which has been my favorite breakfast spot since I moved here 7 years ago! However, somehow I think it's improved. The food always comes out lightning fast fast (when it isn't busy, within ten minutes of me ordering and somehow hot); I'm a Chef by trade and am constantly in awe, seriously what super powered line-cooks do y'all have back there? The servers are also as friendly as ever! I've seen a lot of new faces and they all seem to have been trained well, are all so nice, and keep their cool in a busy atmosphere: the wait can be pretty long sometimes, but I promise you it's worth it. Reopening: A special day today August 20,2020! After a five month period of closer, today was the day shining. March 9th 2020 the Glenwood Restaurant closed its doors. Crazy times! To the family/owners and the family whom work at the Glenwood, thank you for never giving up. Our hearts filled with sadness, out of work, uncertainty when will you re-open. You all know the story of how difficult it was for unemployed to file, owners to qualify for help. The power of faith and the community, they are open today. We have missed you! I have been going to the Glenwood in the mid 70s, when it was in the city of Glenwood. So many beautiful memories, more often I was their twice a day. When they started to open early evenings for desserts, candle light, servers steeped up and played a musical instrument, anyone remember? Jacquy, owner: Thank you. Willamette St location: Your son Edson greeted me at the door. I was second customer to walk in. Day of opening, a badge of honor. The Glenwood is a staple of Eugene, only a few restaurants can hold the honor. Ginger, Marco and yes Edson opened the doors. Ginger, you are a Spirited and beatific women, when you worked the camps location, then to come to the Willamette location, working with Linda, manger at the time. What a power house of hospitality. I was received with the most warm heartfelt family coming together. Hospitality, real gathering of Love as Ginger mentioned. For 18 plus years, I sat at Linda's section. On my day off, I would show up at 6:15 Am, doors do not open until 6:30. Linda had my tomato cheese soup and coffee on the table. Going to miss you Linda. Did I mention Tomato cheese soup, I offered and begged Linda to let me work in the kitchen washing dishes and any chore that needed done (free) Linda knew I was after the recipe of the soup. Not a chance. Faced with the challenge, I brought a home economics teacher and dropped off a pint at a specialty cheese shop, to this day, I cannot come close. Lets say a special thanks to Jacquy, Empty Bowels is a not for profit organization, I have been a part of for 25 years, Jacquy thank you for being a supporter of empty bowels, food for Lane County. The atmosphere has changed, policies and procedures have changed. With booths removed, is has space for a dance floor. I ask you all to be patient, patience will serve you. Look around at the changes. Stained Glass, lighting, air quality, new computer ordering system, we can not go in the back or kitchen area. This is our "go-to" place for very consistent, solid American food. There's nothing fancy, gourmet, spicy or outrageously creative here, but what they do is good. And it says a lot to return to a place time-and-time again and have each dish exactly as it was before. They have a lot of egg dishes/omelettes, healthy portions, a wide variety of sandwiches, burgers, salads, and dinner items like different pastas, steaks, chicken dishes. There are also quite a few vegetarian options. They have recently been closed for dinner, so we mainly order from their breakfast and lunch menus. My husband's favourite for breakfast is "The Works" omelette, which is like a Denver omelette with Spanish sauce on top. My favorite is the Alder St. turkey sandwich with rye bread. If you love onion rings, you may want to add those because they're some of the best I've had in Eugene. Their mushroom Swiss burger is also really good. I was thinking to myself today, "Dang, it's been a while since I've had a burger." In the past, I usually had to go with whatever vegetarian burger is on the menu. Typically, this meant some kind of black bean or quinoa idea of a burger patty. Now with the Impossible Burger, that itch for a satisfying, juicy, and savory burger is finally being scratched. Today, my husband and I ordered two burgers from Glenwood. He got the crooked river burger with fries. I tried the santiam burger. I subbed for the Impossible Burger patty for $1. I, also, subbed for truffle fries for an additional $1. The ordering online process what very easy. They have a seperate entrance for pick up orders from the outdoor dining entrance. (I wasn't paying attention and went through the wrong door. Don't do that. I mean, it's fine if you happen to. They aren't going to yell at you or anything. Just make it easier on them and read their directions, which I did not.) Both burgers were good. My truffle fries, however, were not as truffly as I was hoping my truffle fries would be. Overall, good experience. I do think I prefer their breakfast menu though. read more
