Food is always fantastic, every time I eat there!! Service is great too!! Atmosphere is good! What more can I say??!!

As a local, it truly breaks my heart to write this review. I always want to support our neighborhood businesses, but I have to be honest about my recent breakfast experience here. The Atmosphere I'll start with the positives: the decor is absolutely awesome. As a discophile, I spent half my time admiring the vinyls lining the walls. The model aircraft suspended from the ceiling and the upside-down table add a unique, cool character to the place that you just don't find elsewhere. Visually, it's a 5-star experience.. The Food & Drink Unfortunately, the meal itself was a different story. The Coffee: I'm a black coffee purist, but this was beyond horrible. It tasted completely "burnt"--to the point where I actually had to add sugar just to make it drinkable. Breakfast Burrito: This was, quite frankly, uneatable. I'm not sure if it was the black beans, the eggs, or something else in the mix, but the flavor was horribly off. Hash Browns: They were completely flavorless and added nothing to the plate. Jalapeños: I'm a huge fan of sauces and peppers, but somehow even the side of jalapeños was bad. On a smaller bright note, the English muffin was good (though it's hard to ruin one of those), and the water tasted great. I honestly can't recommend the water enough, which is a strange thing to say about a diner visit. Final Verdict I cannot recommend this spot for breakfast in good conscience. I hope I get the chance to come back and try their dinner menu to see if it's an improvement, but for now, the great decor just isn't enough to make up for the kitchen's performance. read more

I wanted breakfast, and I know the chicken fried steak breakfast here is awesome... so did that again. My server was Alex, and she was awesome... very sweet and friendly. Checked on me several times to make sure all was well! The decor here is pretty retro, and they have some cool items. A Marilyn Monroe poster/cutout! Some neat old sidewalk pedal airplanes I am sure were well loved by some kid! Even an RC Piper Cub. I know I will be back... need to try their prime rib sometime! read more

I went for dinner here with my partner and a friend last night. We arrived around 7:30pm and it was pretty empty. We were seated immediately and looked over the menu to see what we wanted. The restaurant was quiet with the radio playing in the kitchen. We placed our orders shortly after sitting down and waited for our food. I got the rich & famous burger with onion rings, my partner got the bacon cheeseburger with fries and a chocolate shake, and our friend got a cup of the beef stew with garlic bread. Our food was pretty good overall. The burgers were cooked the way we asked and the sides were tasty. The table was clean and we saw the waitresses cleaning other tables as soon as people left so they seem to be pretty on top of it in that regard. The restaurant itself is located in a strip mall on a busy road and is in kind of a shady spot. There were a lot of shady people walking by the whole time we were there. One especially shady-looking couple came in and got a table and immediately looked suspicious as they were turning away from the rest of the tables and digging through a purse they brought in with them that definitely wasn't their own. They were looking out for the staff, presumably so they didn't get caught. They must have found what they wanted because they booked it out of the restaurant less than 10 minutes after being seated and before having their orders taken at all. The waitress didn't seem surprised and just moved on with her night. All in all I think I would go here again, but maybe during the day so I feel a little safer. read more

Was apprehensive about eating here as it sounds like just another diner/ cafe with ok food. I was impressively surprised, the hash browns were well cooked and didn't taste like burnt oil, the steak I ordered was cooked wonderfully also! And even my son's pancakes were great! We've been to Terry's a couple times now for breakfast the day after a Duck football game. It's usually busy but we've not typically had to wait long. Gives off the classic diner vibe without over doing it too much. Staff have always been friendly, personable and efficient. I can't remember everything I've ever had here but the huevos rancheros is my favorite and is quite good. As other reviewers have noted, their prices are decent and serving sizes are generous. The biggest downside to Terry's is the parking lot and you can't fault them for that. The menu seems overwhelming but is easy to peruse. read more

I have been a patron of Terry's diner for over 10 years now since I moved to Eugene. In the past year I have been involved in starting up a new Cub Scout unit. Our Pack leadership has been working to find a good place to have our committee meetings, and maybe a good meal. I had stopped in a couple of weeks ago to speak to the restaurant staff about using their place for our meetings. The waitress was very friendly and excited about the prospect of supporting us by giving us a place to meet. I arrived early today to make sure there was space for us to meet and get some tables arranged. Had great conversation with the very friendly staff. After I got set up and prepped for our upcoming meeting, some woman came up to me and said that she had overheard me speaking to the waitress staff about coming back for future meetings. She then asked me how often we would be coming in, I told her once a month. She then made the following points very clear to me: -She could not guarantee that there would be table space for us to meet. -Even if there were tables available, no guarantee we could all be sat together. -No guarantee that there will be sufficient staff on hand to handle a large group. -and if there were not enough service staff, we would be turned away and told to go somewhere else. -If we were sat together she could not guarantee that all of our food would be served at the same time. When I told her that the waitress I had spoken to was very excited to help support our Scouting unit. I was not aware that was not true. She responded with and excitable statement that she is willing to support scouting but I had to be aware of the above. I told her that the service was not an issue as not all adults would be ordering food. The look on her face shooting daggers was surprising as she waved her hand at the space I was in and made a comment about needing to pay for stuff and not supporting non-paying customers. Of the 8 people who were at our meeting tonight she had 7 paying customers. I have no idea who this lady was, but she made it perfectly clear that we were not wanted there, we were not welcome back and to go find someplace else to take up space. First time in all my years in scouting that I have been treated in such a rude manner. If you support any community programs or scouting, perhaps finding someplace that is more community aware would be a better choice. read more

I very recently stopped at Terry's diner for lunch. I found that it was overpriced for what you got and the food was not very good. I ordered a cheeseburger with french fries. The cheeseburger tasted like it was made the day before and the fries were at best barely edible. The cheeseburger was so overcooked. You could hardly bite through it and it was smaller than a burger you get at McDonald's. I had considered getting a breakfast but when I observed that your standard breakfast was $15-$16I decided against it. No more for me. read more

Terry's Diner Atmosphere: Terry's Diner is located in a shopping center. It's not the big, metallic diner your picture in the movies, but it does stand out in Eugene. When you walk in, you get the diner vibe. There are plenty of booths and tables as well as a full-length bar. When I arrived to pick up my food, it wasn't too crowded. Although at 10 am, I am sure many college students were still sleeping. Located close to the University of Oregon, I would assume most restaurants have a full bar setup. Terry's Diner is no different and has one of the most extensive bar setups I've seen for a diner. In fact, if you only looked at the bar area, you would mistake the dimly lit area to be a bar. Terry's Diner Food: There are plenty of options on the Terry's Diner menu. I used that to call in my order. You can order the typical egg and omelet options, pancakes, sandwiches, and dinner options too. They are open until 7 pm, including dinner for me but not for everyone. They also have many fun options like Hawaiian omelet with pineapple, stuffed hashbrowns, and many fried fish options. I opted for the clubhouse, which you could choose ham or turkey. I chose turkey, and it came with turkey, bacon, tomato, mayo, lettuce, and fries. The clubhouse was great. Sometimes with diner sandwiches they are impossible to eat because they fall apart. The clubhouse was held together well and easy to eat. It tasted good, and the fries were perfectly crispy. In all my meal was great and I would order it again. Terry's Diner Service: The waitress at Terry's Diner was friendly, and the food was ready when I arrived. When I got there, she said: "are you my takeout" which made me chuckle. Terry's Diner Cost: For the clubhouse, it was $11.99, which may be more expensive than a lot of sandwiches I've ordered, but it was good. Terry's Diner Conclusion: If you are in Eugene, Oregon, Terry's Diner is a great stop. I had a good meal, and I will definitely be back. Hopefully, next time, I'll be able to dine in. There is a wide enough variety of foods and large salads, so that even health conscious people can find something delightful to enjoy. At peak times, the diner is very busy; one may wait briefly for a table or experience slightly slow service, simply because Terry's is so popular. I have always found that my patience and relaxed vibes were well rewarded. Moreover, the wait staff have been attentive and personable, capable of listening carefully and modifying an order when necessary. There is extensive parking adjacent to the diner and an ATM nearby. The location is easily reached and worth a drive. The food ranges from very good to Superb! They are especially skilled at Breakfast foods, Burgers, and some pasta dishes. The pancakes are first rate! Portion sizes were solid and food arrived properly hot or chilled. The Salads are fresh and made with good quality ingredients. Came here on a recommendation from the attendants at Atlantic Aviation. Wasn't expecting to find this gem. It doesn't look appealing from the outside since it sits in a strip mall, but once you get inside it has a fantastic dive diner feel. Just throwing this out there, their Huevos Rancheros might be the best I've ever had. Paired that off with some cream of broccoli soup, and coffee that wasn't watered down, and boom: I found my new breakfast stop anytime I'm in Eugene! Great spot for breakfast/lunch/brunch! read more

Yup, this place is marketed as exactly what you would want in a diner. It's got feels of a low key greasy spoon, where if your not a local you may fill out of place. After living in the area for a while I decided it's time to find a new breakfast place, instead of schlepping it across town to my old spot, and well this place did not disappoint. Upon entry I was immediately greeted and sat. I took one look at the menu, and my standard breakfast was right there in front of me. I'm a simple man, and order a simple breakfast. Hash browns, two over medium eggs, ham steak, and a biscuit, with a side of gravy. I'm typically able to finish my breakfast, but man does this place give you a hell of a portion. I was surprised, in fact the portion was large enough they gave me two plates. Needless to say, I had leftovers. My first instinct when deciding whether or not this can be my new Brady joint is judging there hash browns, Terry's dinner nailed, perfectly crispy on the out side, with puffy soft shreds inside. I was happy. My eggs are next. They are precisely cooked, with a runny yoke and fully cooke whites. The ham steak is exactly, except this ham steak is bigger then my face, dankness. There is a downside though the biscuit was some what dry and dense, not the flakey, puffy, buttery biscuits that most people prefer. It's all good though, not everything can be perfect. I shall indeed be revisiting this place as long as they are around, cause I have a 30yr mortgage in the area, and stoked to find I have a greasy spoon diner less then 10 mins from me. read more

Considering how short staffed every restaurant seems to be, they consistently put out excellent food. Recently, I enjoyed probably the best hamburger I've ever had. Cooked to perfection, full of flavor from the bun to the meat. Everything was fresh & delicious!! I usually have breakfast when I go there, because I know it'll be good, and usually get burgers at places that specialize in them (not talking fast food joints either) but took a chance & wow, so glad I did. The staff is always friendly & accommodating, they get frazzled at times - it's ok, just be extra nice & understanding to them realizing they're doing their best. Good food. Inexpensive too. At least their not increasing their prices to cover the less portions they provide. Sure those prices increased but no where as ridiculously as some restaurants and they have the same portions they had before they had to modestly increase their prices and have the same quality of food, unlike a lot of restaurants do. This place was great! Located in an older strip mall store front, inside was decorated like an old diner. Had an awesome omelette the Popeye something - a super tasty spinach mix, I subbed bacon and added avocado - YUM! The homefries could have been a touch crispier - but they were sure tasty!
