The liege waffle wasn't my favorite, but I bet it's amazing on the waffle breakfast sandwich. But their Nashville hot chicken sandwich is amazing! The chicken was perfectly fried and spicy, and the cheddar chive waffle was delicious! They have a blt, chili and cornbread waffle, and chicken and waffles that I bet are great too! And ice cream! I didn't try any this time, but I'll be back for a different waffle sandwich and some ice cream in the future! read more

It had been years since I had been to this truck. Well to be honest I have not been to the truck since it was sold, and even before then I didn't go much because I never went to Ninkasi where it used to be located. Fast forward to now, we moved to Veneta not long ago. I had been passing by the truck parked in the lot at Grocery Outlet, and I have been seeing a lot of posts, and activity about the truck on my Facebook. They have some pulled pork taco's topped with strawberries, Serrano cream cheese, spinach, and a balsamic reduction that have definitely caught my eye. Well I finally had a chance to try them out. Let me tell you. They did not disappoint. I wasn't able to get a pic because someone picked them up for me, and I was too hungry to snap pics. Also I had to pick onions off, which was fine. My guy probably forgot to ask for no onion. The flavors with the pulled pork, balsamic glaze, and strawberries really go well together. I thoroughly enjoyed each bite. I can't wait to go back, and try more menu items. The funny thing that happened later on in the day, we went wine tasting...food trucks were brought up, and they said the owners of Iscream for Waffles comes out there. We were told they also own the Zingaro food truck, but it had been out of commission so he purchased the Iscream for Waffles. Well it makes perfect sense now why I see such creative food on the menu. Not that there wasn't before. But the people who owned Zingaro had such great food, and also had creative menu items at the tap house next to Cornucopia when they were there. I do wonder if they run the Yelp. The reviews on here seem outdated. How ever they are pretty current with their social media on Instagram, and Facebook. They have updated hours, and menu items weekly, as well as more than one location. They are in Eugene again, so you don't have to drive all the way out to Veneta. Wow! There are a few places in the Springfield/Eugene area that do waffles. A lot of them are really good and are decently priced. However... I have never been to I Scream for Waffles and it was amazingly good. I ordered the breakfast waffle sandwich and it was packed with flavor. The egg was perfectly cooked. The bacon and sausage were great and the waffle was what really put it all over the top. A great first choice. I'm pretty sure they are always parked at the Ninkasi tasting room on Sundays. Which is great because they have a lot of great seating and kids are welcome. Not to mention a beer went really well with my sandwich. There are also some great ice cream choices. So even if you don't choose to stay. Dropping by for some ice cream on a walk through the Whitaker district is a great idea. In comparison to other waffles places, my wife pointed out that other places serve plain waffles with toppings on top. "I scream for waffles" actually changes the type of waffle per your choice on the menu. With the chicken schnitzel the waffle was a cheddar biscuit waffle. It was delicious. We stopped by for desert the followinf Sun. & it was amazing! We had lunch there today and ordered several different items off their menu (there's 5 of us) and none of us were disappointed. I was handed a pager and then the wait and anticipation began. I did wait and then thought that my wait has prolonged for quite some time and then I was told that the first waffle wasn't a great one and had to make another and that the strawberries were frozen! Tracked this truck down after seeing a massive line for them at the local food fair, and for very good reason. My party drove to the Ninkasi Tasting Room, a neat place that holds rotating food trucks, and luckily found them with a light line. A brief overview of their menu, a la laminated stylized photos of their dishes with descriptions, and we decided on the smoked gouda chicken and waffle sandwich, the winner-winner chicken dinner, and a screamin' waffle for dessert. Oh and a cup of their sweetened cold brew. After a bit of an understandable wait, our provided buzzer went off for our food. We exchanged the vibrating device to the joyous owner of the food truck for our plates that smelled wonderful. Both the sandwich and dinner plate included a piece of tender, juicy, crunchy, yet not overly heavy fried chicken, as well as using a savory rendition of the waffle. I wanna say it used chives but goodness, it's simply delightful and makes for a perfect savory bread. My garlic mashed potatoes were quite good, and the sandwich was smoky, crunchy, and refreshing. It was perplexing how such heavy dishes tasted so light, but we won't question the trickery/magic involved. The screamin' waffle, a sweet wafle split open and filled with scoops of chosen sea salt caramel ice cream, was just an equally fantastic way to end the experience. The ice cream was salty and sweet. The waffle was hot, soft, sweet, and the perfect taco-like exterior to eat with the quickly melting ice cream. It soon disappeared and we were left beyond satisfied with the meal. I had the chicken and waffles sandwich and I could not discern a single flavor. I got a nice crunch from the chicken and that's it. The chicken was completely bland and I couldn't get the taste of any seasoning. I took a piece of gouda from the one thin slice and again got nothing but a very small hint of smokiness. One small slice doesn't do anything for a sandwich as large. The waffle doesn't hold up to the sandwich and it ends up a gooey mess. And then there's the tasteless tomato. Nothing and mealy. After hearing some raves about this food truck, we saw it at Festival of Eugene, and immediately gravitated to it. It does both sweet and savory treatments of waffles, which intrigued us, so we did their signature items. The chicken waffle cone is fried chicken fingers with cole slaw and mashed potatoes in a thin waffle cone. The chicken was surprisingly good, obviously not a frozen service product but prepared by human hands. Slaw and potatoes were also handmade. The cone was fairly sweet, but tasted quite good with the potatoes. The ice cream sandwich waffle was Liege-style with little bits of caramelized sugar, folded around my choice of salted caramel ice cream, one of the best ice cream sandwiches I've had. Everything was pretty reasonably priced, and came out in fairly good time considering how busy they were. These folks are poised for success, judging from all of the happy customers I saw. read more

This review is based off of the service more than anything else. I understand this was probably the trucks' first day back after being closed for the winter season and it wasn't good. When we arrived, no one was in line in front of us but they said they'd be with us shortly to take our order. Unfortunately due to the parking of the truck, people were constantly walking in front of me and the window to leave Ninkasi. Maybe a little more room/a different parking spot would make things easier for everyone? We placed our order for two plates of food and two scoops of ice cream for later. Within 5-7 minutes our pager went off and they let me know they were out of fries so they could refund me the poutine and comp an ice cream. I let them know we had already paid for our ice cream. They didn't ask if they could make another menu item since there was two of us and only one food item coming out now. They refunded me the poutine and one scoop of ice cream and said my food would be ready soon. I went back to my table and waited a few minutes to order a replacement item since they seemed really frazzled. They were having a hard time keeping up with who ordered what and pagers and their numbers. I'd recommend maybe just writing each customer's number on their order and then calling it out when it's ready. I say this because my food sat in the window for who knows how long because they never paged me a second time. We ended up asking for our food to go because after 40 minutes, we were cold, hungry and frustrated. I definitely would like to return because our food was pretty good, albeit, cold. My recommendation as a business owner is to get your system of cooking and order taking down. If you can't take and deliver orders properly in a timely manner, it almost doesn't matter if the food is good. I'll hopefully update soon with ice cream and next visit review! read more
