In town visiting family, my son and I stopped by for a quick breakfast at Ye Olde Pancake House. On west 11th tucked back off the main road you will find a very old building, lots of parking and up front parking by the main door for those that may need a little assistance. The staff was very friendly right at the door and through our meal. The decor is very 70's with high ceilings and exposed wood, they have a long bar top next to the kitchen and many booths throughout the building. We went in right when they opened but shortly it start to fill out, it sounded like a lot of locals stop by, you could hear the staff calling the customers by name, it seem like a good family vibe. The food servings are big, the pancakes are huge and great tasting. I had to ask for a separate plate so I could get to my eggs and bacon. Everything was cooked to my request and the staff came around often to check on use. My son had a large serving of chocolate chip pancakes, with eggs and sausage. It has been years since I've been here. They are known for good breakfast style comfort food. We always had a hard time showing up when they weren't packed, the food there is that good. We got lucky this time and showed up in between rushes of breakfast and lunch. We were seated immediately and drinks were brought out. Staff is very pleasant, the tables kept clean and we were acknowledged by the server as she was busy, but able to greet us. As our orders were taken, the Mrs asked for her hash browns to be extra crispy. I went for the Chicken Fried Steak. Somewhere something skipped a beat because her hash browns were not extra crispy, but my Chicken Fried Steak was one crisp biscuit! 8^D. That actually made me laugh because not only was it crispy, the flavor really popped! Tasty, that steak biscuit was! We enjoyed our meals and the service was great, the coffee kept coming. I've been here twice now and both times I had a good experience. I stopped by this morning for breakfast with my partner and we left feeling full and happy. I got the strawberry waffles with a side of scrambled egg and sausage. I also got a cup of coffee, it was standard diner coffee. The waffles were fantastic - sweet, fluffy, with a crispy edge. The strawberries were sweet and juicy and the whipped cream was tasty. The eggs and sausage were cooked perfectly. My partner got a hot chocolate and the banana nut pancake. The hot chocolate was good and he said the pancakes tasted a bit like banana bread and he liked them and would order them again. Our server was friendly and attentive. We paid the bill as he dropped it off, allowing us to head out and get on with our day quickly. The hostesses were also nice and seated us immediately. The restaurant is your standard breakfast spot - it's not sparkling clean but it is charming and nostalgic. The decor is simple, it's not too loud, and there's plenty of seating and parking. My mother and I have lived here a while now and we often drove past this place and were curious how it was. I'm sad to say we were disappointed. We sat down to a table that still had bread crumb on the table Which isn't a huge deal, it happens. Otherwise the place seemed clean all around. My mother ordered a meal with soft scramble eggs, bacon, and hash browns. I ordered a mushroom & swiss omelette with hollandaise and pancakes. The only thing decent in this meal was the soft scrambled eggs and the bacon. The pancake was okay, but an incredibly basic pancake like from Denny's. Beyond that? My mother said the hashbrowns had been cooked in old oil and she couldn't eat a bite. I couldn't even eat my meal. The hollandaise was almost split, tasted so bland, and had absolutely NO taste of citrus. The omlette was no better. The egg was rubbery and what they called "swiss" was just some kind of white plastic cheese melted on top. The few bites I had were not appealing. Thinking it might be the cheese I asked for cheddar instead. The new one came out, same issue with the eggs, and while this cheese was at least shredded it wasn't even melted on top. At this point I was done and just asked to have it removed from my ticket. To their credit our server was wonderful. They were fast and attentive and courteous about the omlette issue. We made sure their tip wasn't impacted by the omlette fiasco. TLDR: Friendly, fast server. Not so great with the food. read more

We were greeted and seated promptly on our mid-morning visit. Their menu has what you would expect for a breakfast/lunch dinner type restaurant. Everything we ordered was prepared perfectly, even when we asked for something that was to be made to our liking. Our little guys pancakes even came with a smiley face in whipped cream!! Short: It is a beyond average breakfast place for the area. Since there aren't too many like it in Eugene. Visited week of Dec 25th '22. I arrived with my friend around lunchtime. We waited for a brief moment and was seated. Unfortunately, they seated us at a spot where there was hashbbrowns all over the chairs and floor. This was not a good first impression. [Service]: Despite the unclean seats, our waitress was pretty spot on and provided good service. She asked us if we needed anything, offered us many syrups, told us the specials, and continued to offer us coffee. [Food]: I ordered their chocolate chip chocolate pancakes. The description sounded delicious. Chocolate batter and chocolate chips, covered in whipped cream and more chocolate chips on top. The chocolate batter did not really bring the wow factor, I was expecting a more chocolatey taste, like a chocolate cake. It wasn't. I do appreciate the effort. My friend ordered Boysenberry pancakes. This was a unique offering, and they placed a thick syrup with a bit of the berries in it too. The pancakes did not have berries in them. They were plain buttermilk. They are decent pancakes, but nothing too super spectacular about them. Just fluffy and hot! They offer an array of syrups: Maple, Strawberry, and Boysenberry were the ones I sampled. Our drinks were just coffee and hot cocoa. Nothing too specular, either. Coffee was typical house coffee, and hot cocoa was like cocoa mixed with warm milk. Overall, pretty decent pancake house in the area. Nice size pancakes that were hot and fluffy. We have lived near this restaurant for years. We've driven by it, probably three times a week and never have gone in. One Saturday morning we were running errands and both were hungry, we took a chance and went in. We did not have high hopes because we have other favorite breakfast restaurants nearby. We ordered thinking we were going to get average food. But what we got was very delicious and surprised us. We each got a ham and cheese omelette with a side pancake. It had a nice affordable price. The service was excellent. The weight was only about five minutes. We felt we got a great value for what amount of food came out. I love that. The food was nice and hot and served on hot plate. I hate lukewarm food. We have definitely decided to go back and try other options. The ham and cheese omelette was delicious and so was the buttermilk pancake. We are planning on trying the banana pancakes because we saw pictures online that looked excellent. I would definitely put this on a recommendation list for everyone. read more

We visited for an after church brunch. Although it was quite busy, we were quickly given a seat and our orders were taken in quite a timely manner. Honestly, this was some of the best service I have experienced in a long time. I wasn't that hungry, so I just tried the potato pancakes, and I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor! I do not know what happened. I have been going here since I was in middle school and I am now in my 30s. My grandma and I always walk in feeling welcome, and like we are family. This time, on November 9th, we had a new waitress who recently got hired and she was incredibly rude. Here is the list of rude! -I ordered a half taco salad, chips on the side, salsa, and ranch, and I said "not in the shell, chips on the side please" she instantly snapped at me and said that "oh the half order doesn't come with the shell, only the chips". Ok first of all, you do not correct customers, I have been working in customer service probably longer that then lady myself, and you never snap at customers, or correct them, period. The half order DOES come with the shell, I am offered it every time when I order it. - I asked for one strawberry blitz, and one banana blitz, no NUTS. Highly allergic to nuts! she at first says "oh a banana blitz is not on the menu" yes, I have been ordering this for many months now, yes its there. Do NOT gas light me. So then she asked if I want powdered sugar and whip cream, yes yes I want that. Ok. Order done. -She brings the half order taco salad with the chips buried under the lettuce, no ranch, no salsa. She then brings the banana blitz COVERED IN NUTS, and puts it NEAR MY FACE. I panic and say "no I am very allergic!" and she looks at me like I was rude for saying that, and acts like I never said it in the first place with the look on her face, and says to me "oh oh" she doesn't say "I will take care of this and take it off of your bill, that is my fault sorry" also no whip cream, no powdered sugar on top either. She comes back with the strawberry blitz, no whip cream, no powdered sugar and she comes around the corner and puts a tiny dollop of whip cream on the end of my blitz AS I AM EATING IT. That in itself is absolutely unacceptable behavior with someone else's food, and its her fault she forgot it in the first place, and even charged on the receipt I saw for powdered sugar and whip cream, and she charged for the banana blitz that she messed up on. This place is my happy place ever since I was little. Its where I go to have hot chocolate with whip cream when life is terrible, and its where I go to have the best food in all of Eugene. Now after this experience I am not so sure I even want to go back because I am terrified. I even tried to show her the receipt was wrong and she gas lighted me about it and said I was wrong. I do not know what has happened to the service in here, but after that I do not think I can go back at this time and I have warned other people as well about that particular waitress. read more

What happened to this place?!? I've been coming here for years and this is horrible! Customer service went WAY downhill, not to mention the food is not great. I was served very old fruit this morning. Staff never returned to refill coffe. Plus it took a while for them to come to the table just to give us water. I absolutely do not recommend this place! They get 4 stars from our family today. This is only because Jessica was our waitress. Usually we sit and wait forever to even be acknowledged. I wouldn't go here if it wasn't for my husband. There was no difference in the amount of people ahead of us either, our waitress just took care of us and making our wait for the food more pleasant. No 5 stars tho, because of the hostess at the front. While we waited for our table, she decided it was a good idea to pick at her tattoo, I'm assuming it was healing, but that's just gross! My mother and I came here this morning because we were in the area after dropping her car off at the auto body shop for repairs. We wanted to go to GJ's, but they're closed on Monday. Sad panda moment. So this was mother's next choice. We walked in and were immediately greeted, although it wasn't exactly a warm and friendly greeting. They tried to sit us behind the hostess station, which was right by the door. In 28 degree weather, I'm not a fan of this. So my mother, in her typical cranky old lady style, just says she's not sitting there and picks her own table. So we sit. Then we wait... and wait, and wait some more. Finally, after what felt like a solid 10, bordering on 15 minutes a waitress shows up, all happy and smiles. My mother was ready to walk out, so she said just as much. I had time to read the entire menu twice before our waitress arrived, and take pics. Her excuse was they were busy, and there were lots of people to feed, as she put it. Hmm... that's interesting, given the restaurant is maybe half full and I've seen at least two other waitresses wandering around. I'd hate to see how they function when it's packed. Lol. Mom made the comment of maybe they needed more staff. The smile on our waitress disappeared and we went straight to bitch mode. At least the cooks were faster than the wait staff. Our food came out, although the toast was incorrect. My mother ordered sourdough, well-toasted. I ordered wheat. How hard is it to get toast right? Well, you start by writing down the correct kind, which our waitress didn't, and then you toast both sides, which the cook failed to do. Not impressed. The rest of our meal was moderate in taste. I've had better, and I've had worse. It was simply tolerable, but nothing stood out as being spectacular. Would I return? Nope. I was not impressed.
