Oregon dragon roll and spicy tuna
Desi S.

I know I'm not a sushi expert but I think this is the best sushi in Eugene! The Oregon dragon roll is outstanding!!! Everything was perfect.

Sushi pure has always had quality food. Wonderful lunch menu. I will always come back for their food. I love the purple rice. Color from a small amount of forbidden rice (black rice) in the sushi rice.

Daughter wanted to celebrate her 14th birthday by having sushi. We were fortunate enough to be able to go when they first opened so no reservation needed. Customer service was top notch, great selection of sake and cocktails. We all got to enjoy our favorites, even the vegetarians enjoyed some amazing rolls. The nigiri was heaven!! The kid definitely has good taste.

I tried this place for the first time with my family and it was definitely good! Sushi tasted very fresh and the portions were pretty good. My favorite roll was definitely the fried roll, but there are tons of rolls here to pick from! While here I noticed lots of other families and couples and groups of friends dining, so the vibe is up to you. Service was nice.

I am blown away by how DELICIOUS the food is every single time I have been here. I am slowly making my way through the entire sushi menu and I have to say, I have not come across a single bad item. The staff here are always so accommodating and attentive and the seating is very upscale. Whether you are upstairs or downstairs, the vibes are very cool. Perfect place for a date!

Spontaneously decided to drop in for our last dinner in town here, simply based on it being the highest rated sushi spot in the area. There was a little bit of a wait (15 mins.) upon arrival, shortly after they opened at 5pm. The interior is nice and there are 2 levels to the restaurant. Service is casual. Overall, the fish did not taste the highest quality to me. The nigiri were all boring - no flavor add-ons other than the wasabi that comes on each piece. The menu has wide variety of raw and cooked apps, entrees, and sides. The best thing was the ahi tuna tower. Everything else was just okay.

Kalbi Ribs - A takeout container holds a salad with lettuce, purple cabbage, and carrots, alongside glazed meat garnished with sesame seeds.

Got some take out and wasn't disappointed. Kalbi ribs were good portions and thick. Saba had a great presentation and taste. All parties happy! Check em out!

First off, the ambiance of this place was lovely. Dimmed lights with bright red walls that really pop. This place was recommended to me by a friend who lives here & it the food my expectations! Literally EVERYTHING was amazing. Service from all who worked today was excellent. Thank you for a great experience!

Dirty tea cup only one shown. Both were dirty - A person holds an empty ceramic mug with some stains inside, positioned over a wooden table with dishes and bowls nearby.

The food was good and the service was very nice, but that was extremely contrasted by the hygiene. Every single dish that we got was dirty. Our plates, soy sauce dishes, and our tea cups. There was a terrible smell downstairs and it wafted upstairs. I've been here multiple times and this is not the only time I've had to ask for clean dishes. I enjoy the food, but I don't want to compromise on cleanliness especially in a sushi restaurant. Makes me wonder what everything we can't see looks like.

Amazing sushi! They use different type of rice!! Most Japanese place in Eugene. Their tempura ice cream is the best. Their roll names are interesting

Combination Tempura - A basket of fried onion rings and tempura vegetables served on a decorative paper liner at a restaurant table.

Ask the Community - Sushi Pure

Do they take reservations?

Yes, they take reservations by phone.

Do they have more selection of Sushi nigiri options ? Like special menu besides what's on the menu. Looking for Hirame or Engawa, Ebi, Tai etc

What are the sushi boat prices?

Can we customize our sushi orders?

Yes, At least in my experience. We have swapped out proteins and sauces before and my wife has asked that her roll not have Roe on top.

Wasabi - like, real wasabi! I kept dabbing in my mouth never having tasted it before. It's both spicier on the front of your tongue and more luxurious on the back. I want more. The fried chicken bao was unfugging, unbelievably delicious. Can we say unfugging on Yelp? We got the Mrs V roll - spicy tuna topped with seared beef. Again, buttery with Rich beef and tuna that's actually spicy. Excellent roll This was an elegant, refined and completely delicious experience. We will definitely be back.

Our server didn't smile and seemed so impatient when we asked questions about the menu. He was going off the clock and flippantly said, if you need anything ask the other guy or the bartender, both of which seemed disinterested in filling in for him. When we asked about which tuna nigiri was which (several were on the plate) they had no clue and were not interested in finding out for us. Food wise, it was okay and I've certainly had better but the lackluster service tainted the entire night.

Ordered the Ikura onigiri and the Japanese Sweet Potato and the Agadashi Tofu. (I asked for miso butter on the side for me because I have found it overwhelms the potato which is seasoned really wonderfully). The Ikura Onirigi was simple and excellent. My favorite wishes that they would create an regular Onirigi Happy Hour where they are on discount so that those of us who just want to have half a dozen of those and a few drinks can come in and experience our heart's delight. My drink of choice here is the Painkiller -- which is really well balanced and so delicious it's hard not to have a second. Wednesdays are when they have two dollars off the ginger-based drinks and I didn't try it this time but I am keen to the next time because they appear to crush the ginger in house and make their own ginger concoction magic. The bar was thankfully not crowded. As an introvert it was nice to be finishing up and heading out just as more people were coming in.

The place was packed, but thankfully we were seated quite quickly with a 5-10 minute wait. The interior is cozy and welcoming. It's dimly lit with mood lighting on the tables. It felt lively since the tables were packed. We started by ordering the sake and shoyu flights and some fries with wasabi mayo while we explored the rest of their menu. We received the flights quickly. Both flights had 3 flavors and were tasty and fun to try. Each flight comes with a menu describing the flavor profile and how the drinks were made. The flavors of each flight were distinct and matched their descriptions. The fries with wasabi mayo were pretty basic fries. They were well seasoned, had a nice crunch, and the mayo had a subtle wasabi flavor without it being spicy. For our next round we ordered the salmon misoyaki, butternut squash, tofu kushiyaki, and steak kushiyaki. Unfortunately, our server forgot to bring our butternut squash, but we ended up being full with the rest of the food we ordered and just took it off our order. The salmon misoyaki was delicious - perfectly cooked, tender, and well seasoned. The mustard greens on the side added a nice sourness. The tofu kushiyaki was tender and flavorful. The steak kushiyaki was well-seasoned, but more well done than I preferred and a little tough. Next, we ordered the spinach goma ae and umeboshi unigiri. The spinach goma ae was such a pleasant surprise! It's a chilled spinach dish with a tamari/black sesame sauce that was refreshing mid-meal. Really good umami flavor! The umeboshi onigiri had the expected sharp salty/sour flavor that balanced well with the ratio of rice. Ended up dipping the umeboshi onigiri in the goma ae sauce to get every last drop. For dessert we ordered the basque cheesecake and créme brûlée. The cheesecake was just okay. The menu said there was sake and black sesame flavors, but apart from some black sesame dust on the plate we couldn't taste the sake/sesame. The texture was thick and not super smooth. It was a pretty heavy dessert and not very sweet. The créme brûlée was yummy. The custard was smooth and the crunchy caramelized sugar on top was a nice contrast in texture and flavor. The service itself was slow. We were waiting around 15 minutes between orders. Given, it was a busy night. However, we felt a bit forgotten as our server did forget to bring one of our dishes, we had to ask for our dessert menus twice, and we were accidentally served two basque cheesecakes instead of our order of cheesecake and créme brûlée. The staff were friendly, and quickly brought out the correct desserts at the end. I'd recommend ordering more dishes at once so you can enjoy more food in between orders. Would definitely come back again to try the rest of their menu. We wanted to try the Japanese sweet potato but they had sold out that night. The oysters, sashimi, and udon also looked quite good!

The dinner special (3 rolls, rice, salad, miso soup) is about $27 from what I remember. Hubby and I shared that meal (with extra salad and miso), added another roll, and ordered garlic edamame. That was too much food, but neither of us complained. The rolls were great and I loved the salad dressing. They also have a drink-of-the-day. That night it was a mango martini-margarita kind of drink. Let me explain - salt on the rim of a martini-sized glass, a tequila-based mango margarita with no ice. It was stronger than a margarita, more like a martini, and cost about $5. We had a young child with us and that brought some interesting moments. The staff was so helpful, friendly, and polite in bringing extra chop sticks and napkins as we needed. I love restaurants when children can be children (within sweet limits) and the staff are accommodating. We will be back when we are in Springfield/Eugene again.

It was our second time going here and the food was delicious and fresh, the service was wonderful and our drinks were kept refilled. My husband loves the quality and variety of the nigiri here and my daughter and I particularly love the Red Bull roll that has steak on the top! On our first visit, we had cash ready for our server, who was excellent btw, but another server came by and grabbed her cash tip and put it in her pocket. I'm not sure how they tip out here but that just really sat wrong with us. For that reason only, I'm not giving 5 stars.
