Let's talk sushi friends. This is my second time at this restaurant. First time, I went alone and only had one dish. But you are here for a review... not a backstory. Today I went and got a 'Caterpillar' roll and 'Day Dreamer' roll. Let me break it down for you. Caterpillar roll: AMAZING 10/10. I love sushi and this is a go to roll for me NO MATTER WHAT. This roll is always good, but Sushi Pure makes it amazing, the taste, texture, and fulfillment it brings is unmatched. Day Dreamer roll: Very Solid 7.75/10. This roll had me in a chokehold for a second. That's neither bad or a good thing. The taste all around was very good, but the texture through me off (more personal problem, so many of you may love this). It was like soft, then crunchy, then popping due to the fish egg. All around I would recommend, but it may not be for everyone. The servers I've had both times have always been so kind, quick moving, and motivated so the service is unmatched as well. I dropped off my tax docs at the CPA today, and had to stop and get a bite somewhere. Sashimi sounded good, so decided to stop at Sushi Pure since it was close by. Nice interior, and was waited on quickly. My waitress brought water, and took my order for green tea. It came quickly, a full mug, and a lovely little cast iron teapot with a second serving. Good tea, too! I ordered the nine piece Hamachi sashimi (on a diet... no carbs, lol)! I was brought a six piece... and let the waitress know that. Told her the six piece would be fine for now. Lovely presentation, and the hamachi was beautiful. Fresh too, no fishy odor and the color was good. It was delicious. I would eat here again! read more

I tried this place for the first time with my family and it was definitely good! Sushi tasted very fresh and the portions were pretty good. My favorite roll was definitely the fried roll, but there are tons of rolls here to pick from! Spontaneously decided to drop in for our last dinner in town here, simply based on it being the highest rated sushi spot in the area. There was a little bit of a wait (15 mins.) upon arrival, shortly after they opened at 5pm. The interior is nice and there are 2 levels to the restaurant. Service is casual. Overall, the fish did not taste the highest quality to me. The nigiri were all boring - no flavor add-ons other than the wasabi that comes on each piece. This is my second time coming here. Loved all the different types of sushi and options of rolls. The purple rice is also a fun touch. I felt like all the roles that I got were a good size, and I was filled up by the end of my lunch. Our waitress was great very attentive and made sure that we had our drinks refilled and checked on us throughout the meal. read more

The food was good and the service was very nice, but that was extremely contrasted by the hygiene. Every single dish that we got was dirty. Our plates, soy sauce dishes, and our tea cups. There was a terrible smell downstairs and it wafted upstairs. I've been here multiple times and this is not the only time I've had to ask for clean dishes. I enjoy the food, but I don't want to compromise on cleanliness especially in a sushi restaurant. Makes me wonder what everything we can't see looks like. read more

Service was terrible. We ordered Sake that was just placed on the table with the container, not poured. I ordered Tempera which was extremely flaky crumbly and messy. My plate and table were a mess. We ordered Sushi for our main course that was placed on the table with our dirty plates Waitress did not clean up or bring us clean plates. I had to get a new napkin from another table. Strange experience at this restaurant. This is my first time writing a somewhat negative Yelp review. I came here with a group for a friend's birthday party. We had a reservation at 7:30 but ended up running late. A few of us got there a bit before 7:40, before the birthday girl had arrived, and were told our table had been given away because we had passed the grace period for late arrivals. The host explained that there was a 15 minute grace period for reservations (multiple people in the group heard the host this number) and that after that period table would be given away. This is actually a fairly reasonable policy, and I am generally non-confrontational, so I figured the reservation must have accidentally been made for 7:20 or some other time before 7:30, and we would just have to go somewhere else. The Birthday girl arrived around 7:42, and said the reservation was in fact for 7:30. Readers of this review who passed 3rd grade math may have realized at this point that we had in fact not passed the 15 minute grace period after 7:30! This prompted me to talk to a staff member, who got her manager (yes, this was the first time I have had to say "can I speak to the manager"). The manager confirmed that our reservation was for 7:30, and I explained to her that we had been told we had passed the 15 minute grace period, even though we hadn't. She then said that the grace period had been changed to 5 minutes because it was Mothers' Day weekend. It was Friday of that weekend, so this was kind of a poor excuse in my opinion. Also, I have never encountered a 5 minute grace period in my life. It's effectively not a grace period and practically defeats the purpose of a reservation. The manager was overall nice and tried to accommodate us by splitting our group into two tables, but the birthday girl opted to find a different restaurant where we would be able to sit together. Overall, the impression I got was that someone had messed up and given away our table before the grace period was over, and the manager made up an excuse to cover for it (kind of fair). It would have been nice if they just owned up to their mistake if that was the case. The other possibility is that they just arbitrarily give away reserved tables after whatever grace period feels right to them on that particular day. We ended up going to Sushi Station down the street and having a great time. I've also been to Akira in Eugene, which was stellar. Anyway, one star for the service, one more star because the sushi must be absolutely fire if this restaurant is able to treat people like this and still bring in enough business to continue existing. read more

My wife and I have loved coming here for years for two reason: their food is great and they had a fantastic gluten-free menu. They have recently changed their menu and now only have 4 rolls on their gluten-free menu and 3 of those are basically California rolls that have different things on top of them. Very disappointing for it use to be a favorite place to eat GF. read more

I have been told to eat here for years. The price is always the first thing anyone mentions in order to 'warn' me. But then it was always followed with how good it is, just for special occasions, for when you want to impress a date etc. I'm not sure what other people do for a fancy night out but I only agree with the sticker shock. While the lovely decor is the first thing you notice, price is the second. But hey, we'd planned for that so it was the food we were interested in. The best I can say is meh. I mean it wasn't Bad or anything, but there are so many sushi restaurant options in Eugene, if it's the food you're after, and the ambiance isn't the focus, go somewhere else. Service was fine although not very friendly, and the food did taste good, but the menu didn't have much to pay extra for, portions weren't any better and quality was average. I enjoyed the purple rice but it wasn't worth the price hike. We left full but not overstuffed because we came in with the intent to splurge, but I won't go back even if someone else is paying. I've been to Sushi Pure a few times now and have yet to find a single flaw. The service is accommodating, kind, and organized. The sushi here is some of the best in the Eugene/Springfield area, I highly recommend the sushi rolls and sashimi/nigiri, as well as nearly every appetizer they offer. The food is absolutely worth it for the price - it is fresh, flavorful, and filling. The location and ambiance is nice, I feel that I can dress up for a date or wear something more casual, as both are entirely appropriate for this restaurant. I like the location and the interior decor, there is a nice lighted fish tank downstairs. We were seated and served quickly. The strawberry lemonade was too watery for my taste. The gyoza were pan fried but did not have a particularly strong flavor. The beef teriyaki was tender and the cucumber salad that came with it was delicious. My salmon nigiri felt slightly slimy but otherwise was good. I ordered the Victoria's Secret roll but I didn't really like it. There were too many textures going on for my taste. Very fresh sushi, sashimi, poke and quality ingredients including purple rice mixed with other types of rice, making this a very unique place. Love the wide variety of choices here, from sushi rolls & sashimi, to bento boxes and combination meals. There is something for everyone. The dining area is nice and has lots of wood used for the interior design. We had a party of 7 so they gave us a private dining room which was very special. There is a bar area downstairs that looks nice too, that you walk through for the bathrooms. Check out their drink menu since they have a bar prices are decent considering the quality of the fish. Sushi pure is one of my favorite restaurants. The food and the ambiance are impeccable, it is very fancy but has great food and good servings. The sushi rolls were amazing and the ahi tower is amazing as usual. I think there is disconnect between the hosts and the rest of the staff and this resulted in a 40 min wait being extended to 60 mins. I have been a host before and have sympathy for the hosts, but I believe with more training and more staff wide communication, wait times like this can be more accurate. read more

Cute place and I wanted to love it but it was ok but not great. Inside is really cool! Main level and downstairs so there is a ton of seating and inside is well decorated. Friendly service and I ordered the "Dark Angel" and asked for help ordering another roll. Server suggested the "Victoria's Secret" roll so I went with that. I liked the Dark Angel roll but the description said it was spicy but had ZERO spice. The Victoria's Secret roll was disappointing. It had a weird sauce in the middle that reminded me of "thousand island" salad dressing. I skipped the sauce and the roll was ok. I really enjoyed the sushi at sushi pure. The hand roll I got was delicious. The rolls tasted really high quality. The avocado was perfectly ripe and salmon tasted fresh. Menu is a bit overwhelming as there are a ton of options. Employees are very friendly and accommodating. The inside is really cute and spacious. They have these little pods with curtains you can sit in. They have two huge fish tanks that are fun to check out also! This spot is perfect for a date night or special occasion. We had our first Sushi Pure experience this past weekend. Location: fantastic, love this part of Eugene... however, parking is horrid. Next to impossible if you drive anything bigger than a compact vehicle. Finding the restaurant, quite easy. Well lit and well marked. Food: Interesting. Very interesting. I can't say I am a fan of the black sushi rice. I get the health benefits, etc., but not having an option to make it plain white sushi rice was disappointing. Fish was fresh. Soup was hot. Drinks: Lovely but a bit on the small side. Martini was very well made but could have included a bit more... who wants a 1/3 glass full of a martini? Price: a bit high but overall competitive in the Eugene market. Service: It was fine. They seemed a bit poorly staffed. Our waitress seemed put out with us... She was running hard all night... tons of staff but a bit disorganized. Ambiance: fun. It's a nice place to go hang. I wouldn't say no to revisiting and trying other menu items. Good atmosphere and friendly service to start the evening. The miso soup was very hot with good flavor. The edamame was enjoyable. The sashimi tuna was middle of the road without much flavor and not fresh. Two rolls ordered the Poseidon and Sunshine lacked flavor and freshness. The shrimp tempura that was in the middle of each roll was cold as if it had been fried, refrigerated and then rolled, leaving the tempura soggy with no crunch. More then half of each roll was left on the table. The server was not interested as to why we did not finish our meal other than to offer a to go box. No Thanks! There were no water or soda refills during the meal. Can't say I would recommend. read more

I wish the flavors in their individual rolls were more distinguished and unique, we ordered about 6 different varieties and I couldn't tell the difference between about 3 of them. . I wish they have more bar sitting instead of 6-7 chairs. My favorite sushi chef Tak is off on Thursday and Friday so we came on Saturday night. Around 6 pm the bar is already filled so we waited for more than 40mins it's worth it tho. We also bring own Sake instead of buying cuz since we come so often there are no more choices we like to have/try. They charge us $20 for corkage to bring own bottle of Sake. Sushi is always good but not much selections what we like. Since we had so much different kinds of fish in Japan two months ago. I shouldn't expect the same I guess.
