Love this spot! Feels like a hidden gem. They have plenty of great sushi options, but I always come for the sushi burritos. Always a great price and so amazing! This is a food cart, so only outside seating. But being surrounded by the trees in a neighborhood, it is very peaceful.

I've been wanting to try this food truck for awhile. Everything was made fresh and it was delicious. I likes everything I tried especially the Takoyaki! Only a small amount of outdoor seating available. Service was great!!!

We got takeout the other night. The hubby opted for the box (bento-ish) with the golden chicken. It came with three fried gyoza, a scoop of sushi rice, and krab salad (krab salad on top of greens). It was a nice little mix of things for only $15. I wanted to try everything so I got three items and had leftovers the next day. I got the takoyaki (fried octopus balls). They were quite squishy on the inside, which made it seem like they were underdone, but maybe how they are supposed to be cooked?? I also got a salmon sushi donut. I liked that it had a few things on top (salmon, avocado, seaweed salad). It was quite difficult to eat out of the tiny box and it was covered in sweet chili sauce, which I thought was an odd choice. I also got the Two Tone Bowl, which was like a giant version of the sushi donut and had all the great toppings, but added carrot and ginger on top. It also had the same sweet chili sauce. I had the leftovers the next day for lunch. I easily ordered on the app and then drove over to pick it up. Everything was fresh and I liked the different options. I think I'll ask for the sauce on the side next time since I felt like the sauce took away from the overall flavor of the dish.

This was an online order, so I can't say anything about the ambience. Or the restaurant service. The takoyaki is a grilled octopus ball, and it's actually good-considering that it has a fried food feel, this would make a great bar food item-you would just need to have some different choices for fillings in addition to octopus. The salmon burrito and spicy mayo taste good together, and sushi burritos are quite underrated in my opinion. It's basically sushi meets burrito. Yum! They need a California roll version in addition to salmon and tuna.

It was delicious! All outside dining as it's a food truck. There was one table next to the sushi truck but there was not a lot of people. The lady working was very sweet. Definitely will be going back.

Tonton is such a cute food cart in Eugene! The menu has a lot of really unique sushi items like sushi donuts and sushi burritos as well as a lot of other dishes like orange chicken and potstickers. Everything I got was delicious! You can't go wrong. The employees are super friendly as well. Definitely come here if you want some high quality food!

I am so excited for this new addition to the pod of food trucks on Van Buren in The Whit. At first I was gobsmacked by their amazing pictures of their delicious looking sushi donuts. However, as I am a vegetarian, I then assumed there would not be anything at this cart for me to enjoy. INCORRECT! There are plenty of vegetarian options. The most notable is their Mango Tofu roll. I also picked up their veggie pot stickers, seaweed salad sushi ball, and cheese cake roll. Every element was so good. I can't wait to go back over and over and over again.

Found this food truck and stopped to check it out. I had a vegetable dumpling soup and a sushi donut. Everything tasted great and the lady helping me was very friendly. I would say the prices are a bit high, but it was good.

In the whit next to ninkasi is the newest food truck to serve sushi. After seeing this truck posted on yelp I had to give it a go! I love both food trucks and sushi. Love their new spin on sushi, the sushi donut. I did however find it a little difficult to eat. Toppings were good but the rice tasted a bit soft. Sushi balls were fun as well but ended up being basically a normal piece of sushi. Enjoyed the flavor, mayo was a touch overpowering. Like what this place is trying to do and the staff is very pleasant. Check it out for yourself.

Salmon sushi donut and Two Tone Bowl

The sushi donut was delicious and unique but a little fall apart and the Two Tone Bowl was quite large and pretty however significantly lacking in flavor. My son had the salmon sushi burrito to try for the first time and DEVOURED it! So it must've been good. The woman who helped us was so polite and friendly as well as prompt. Very cute outdoor tables, in a little food truck strip. We will definitely return and try again.

The environment is lively, mostly because Taro is personable and we were able to see him create beautiful sushi dishes live while hearing him engage with the customers seated around him. It was actually really fun listening to his stories, and seeing how he is passionate about the food he makes. He was excited about the uni and was talking about how the fish he orders is from Spain and how he really wanted to order another great cut of fish. The food was delicious, even down to the house sodas they have. We ordered the summer margarita with fresh berries, lime soda, cold beet appetizer, veggie donburi, chef's choice spicy trio hand rolls, chocolate mochi blackberry cake - and at the end Taro gave us 2 nigiri on the house. The house lime soda - usually soda is nothing to blink an eye at, but the lime flavor was fresh and just the right amount of sweetness. We were surprised by how good it was. The summer margarita was a delight, the alcohol and fresh summer flavors balanced perfectly so that neither overpowered the other. The beet appetizer was fun to try. Beets can sometimes be too earthy/muddy in flavor, but the nutty dressing paired with the salty, crunchy puffed chip paired well with the soft bites of beet. The veggie donburi bowl was much bigger than expected, and everything on it was good. The tempura tofu was well executed - silken tofu encased in a thin/crispy layer that tasted light and not greasy. The overall flavor of the bowl is akin to teriyaki, but less sweet and more of a deep umami and more smoky flavor. The handrolls had a good amount of fish to rice/topping ratio. The wasabi actually has some real wasabi in it, and the pickled ginger and soy sauce made every bite flavorful. Very filling. The fish were all fresh and tasted great. My partner who almost never eats meat couldn't resist and ate a piece of nigiri and loved it. The mochi chocolate cake was very unique and definitely worth trying. I find most chocolate cake too sweet with a generic cocoa powder flavor and too heavy. The texture of the cake is not too dense, but has a nice mochi bite to it while tasting a deep cacao flavor without it feeling too heavy. The sweet/richness is just right paired with bites of fresh blackberries. Honestly, may be the best dessert I've eaten so far this year. The interior is well decorated and pays homage to Akira the anime. The hostess who greeted us seemed stressed and it definitely showed on her face the whole night. But, our server was kind and attentive. Despite the handrolls taking ~20 mins to show up, the food was delicious and worth the wait. There is so much more to try on the menu. Will gladly come back and support Taro and crew!

The place was packed, but thankfully we were seated quite quickly with a 5-10 minute wait. The interior is cozy and welcoming. It's dimly lit with mood lighting on the tables. It felt lively since the tables were packed. We started by ordering the sake and shoyu flights and some fries with wasabi mayo while we explored the rest of their menu. We received the flights quickly. Both flights had 3 flavors and were tasty and fun to try. Each flight comes with a menu describing the flavor profile and how the drinks were made. The flavors of each flight were distinct and matched their descriptions. The fries with wasabi mayo were pretty basic fries. They were well seasoned, had a nice crunch, and the mayo had a subtle wasabi flavor without it being spicy. For our next round we ordered the salmon misoyaki, butternut squash, tofu kushiyaki, and steak kushiyaki. Unfortunately, our server forgot to bring our butternut squash, but we ended up being full with the rest of the food we ordered and just took it off our order. The salmon misoyaki was delicious - perfectly cooked, tender, and well seasoned. The mustard greens on the side added a nice sourness. The tofu kushiyaki was tender and flavorful. The steak kushiyaki was well-seasoned, but more well done than I preferred and a little tough. Next, we ordered the spinach goma ae and umeboshi unigiri. The spinach goma ae was such a pleasant surprise! It's a chilled spinach dish with a tamari/black sesame sauce that was refreshing mid-meal. Really good umami flavor! The umeboshi onigiri had the expected sharp salty/sour flavor that balanced well with the ratio of rice. Ended up dipping the umeboshi onigiri in the goma ae sauce to get every last drop. For dessert we ordered the basque cheesecake and créme brûlée. The cheesecake was just okay. The menu said there was sake and black sesame flavors, but apart from some black sesame dust on the plate we couldn't taste the sake/sesame. The texture was thick and not super smooth. It was a pretty heavy dessert and not very sweet. The créme brûlée was yummy. The custard was smooth and the crunchy caramelized sugar on top was a nice contrast in texture and flavor. The service itself was slow. We were waiting around 15 minutes between orders. Given, it was a busy night. However, we felt a bit forgotten as our server did forget to bring one of our dishes, we had to ask for our dessert menus twice, and we were accidentally served two basque cheesecakes instead of our order of cheesecake and créme brûlée. The staff were friendly, and quickly brought out the correct desserts at the end. I'd recommend ordering more dishes at once so you can enjoy more food in between orders. Would definitely come back again to try the rest of their menu. We wanted to try the Japanese sweet potato but they had sold out that night. The oysters, sashimi, and udon also looked quite good!

Ordered the Ikura onigiri and the Japanese Sweet Potato and the Agadashi Tofu. My drink of choice here is the Painkiller -- which is really well balanced and so delicious it's hard not to have a second. Wednesdays are when they have two dollars off the ginger-based drinks and I didn't try it this time but I am keen to the next time because they appear to crush the ginger in house and make their own ginger concoction magic. I stopped in for a drink while my to go order was being made and had a Tiger Bomb, a beer with a shot of soju mixed in. The drink was great, and the service was incredibly hospitable. Even though I was just waiting on a to go order, they offered me complimentary banchan, little bites of cabbage, carrots, and cucumber, to snack on while I drank and waited. That was much more hospitality than I expected from simply picking up food. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. The portions are generous, everything tasted fresh, and the food felt genuinely high quality. The Korean fried chicken is really, really good. I got the Volcano sauce, and it is legitimately hot. Not restaurant spicy. Actually spicy. I eat the spiciest of the spicy food, and this was a good 8 out of 10 for me, which is probably a 15 out of 10 for most people. It has serious heat, but plenty of flavor underneath it. The dry rub chicken balanced it perfectly, with a tangy, acidic, savory flavor that cut through the richness and paired really well with the Volcano sauce. Crispy chicken, acid, spice, and a cold beer is a pretty hard combination to beat. I also got the kimbap with spicy pork, and that was amazing too. The rice and fillings tasted really fresh, the pork had a great savory sweetness and heat, and the vegetables added freshness and texture. Every bite had a little bit of everything. Between the food, Tiger Bomb, complimentary banchan, and service, I was already thinking I had found a new place I really liked. Then I got home. The only real downside was unfortunately the tteokbokki, which is ironic because that was the entire reason I found Tiger Mama. It was literally the term I typed into Yelp that led me there. And this is where the review gets complicated. Flavor wise, it was amazing. The sauce was sweet, tangy, savory, and a little spicy, with that deep gochujang flavor you want from tteokbokki. The fish cakes were tender, plentiful, and full of flavor. There were glass noodles, mandu, and half a hard boiled egg, giving it a lot of different textures. It felt like a more elaborate, modern take on the classic Korean dish. The rice cakes themselves were fantastic. Great size, wonderfully tender and chewy, and soaked in that delicious sauce. Honestly, the tteok I did receive might be the best I have had while dining out. My problem was that I received three of them. Three individual rice cakes. In an $18 order of tteokbokki. That was genuinely disappointing. Tteokbokki was why I came here. It was what I searched for and what drew me in. The menu picture showed plentiful, delicious little rice pillows sitting in sauce, which was exactly what I had been craving. Instead, I got a large serving of glass noodles, fish cakes, mandu, sauce, egg, and three rice cakes in a dish named after the rice cakes. If this had been the only thing I ordered, I could easily see myself leaving a sour one star review and never going back. But that would not represent the experience I had. Everything else was too good. As someone who loves Korean cuisine, both cooking it at home and eating it out, I can tell there is a lot of care put into this food. Even the tteokbokki was excellent in every respect except the rice cake quantity. The sauce was perfect, the fish cakes were great, the mandu was a nice surprise, and the sweet, spicy, tangy, savory flavors worked ridiculously well together. It also pairs really well with a beer. Or six. Unfortunately, I live too far away to have noticed until I got home, and they were already closed. I'll call tomorrow, and based on the service I received, I'm confident they'll make it right. Three rice cakes for $18 was genuinely disappointing, but I'm not going to let what seems like one portioning mistake outweigh an otherwise excellent experience. The food, atmosphere, hospitality, and care put into everything were too good. Tiger Mama is a great addition to the Whit, and I'll absolutely be back. Especially for more tteokbokki. Hopefully next time, more than three.
