Just plain delicious! My favorite for now is the Cajun chicken bowl with 1/2 rice & 1/2 veggies. The Garlic chicken is also good. I tried the crispy mushrooms which were ok, as was the cucumber salad. I enjoyed the veggie spring rolls which are a perfect size (small), it makes them great to share. My daughter raved about the Surimi Crab Poke bowl & she's picky! The service has been great, the people are patient & helpful when ordering. The interior is quaint with an Asian inspired decor. I really enjoyed Subo Sushi Burritos. This is such a cool spot. I love the idea of sushi but in burrito form. I got one of the specialty burritos which was around 18$. The other ones were around 15$. For the size and amount of fillings they give you this is a great price. They did not skimp. The burrito was huge. The ingredients tasted really high quality and fresh. I also loved their sauce options. I got the spicy mayo and sweet soy which really added to the flavors. Inside there was limited seating but they did have a few tables. Great for takeout or dine in! Employees were really friendly. They take orders on their website and by phone. Also Grubhub and maybe some other food delivery service apps? Would definitely recommend trying this place out. TL:DR - Sushi burrito itself is high quality and fresh, but man is it gonna cost you. Most of the non-basic rolls will run about $20 after tip. Size wise, it's a clearly smaller than average, but not by much. I don't think the price justifies the food. --------------------------------------------------------------------- So to start, this place is really a 3.5, but the more I think about it, the things I dislike about it are more annoying than the things I do like about it. To start, my two biggest gripes are that the menu is debilitatingly large. Like it took my far too long to read through the menu to settle on something (I got the Hawaiian salmon). Just keep it simple, like just keep the most popular combos then do a build your own section. My other gripe is the price. It's pretty much $20 for a sushi burrito. And sure, someone else said that's like the price of a sushi roll, but it's also way more expensive than a normal sushi burrito or poke bowl anywhere else. And if would be different if the sushi burrito was huge, but it's not. It's not small, but definitely smaller than average, even if just a little. Ok now that's out of the way, the sushi burrito itself, was very fresh and very delicious. If it was a more reasonable price, you'd see me here once a week. The other thing was the guy taking my order was super nice and friendly to that point where I was like, man I want to get a beer with that guy. Outside of that, the place was empty inside (it was like 2:30pm mid-week) and the burrito did take about 10ish min to make as I think they needed to make fry up the shrimp tempura. All in all, I think the cost is too prohibitive to come back. $20 can get me a lot of food almost anywhere. read more

What a delightful meal! The customer service and the sushi is the best! My favorite is the ahi burrito, the Classic Number 10, with ahi, albacore tuna, masago, mango, cukes greens and more goodness! I had the Panda burrito, Crispy tiger shrimp, surimi crab, cucumber, carrot, marinated seaweed salad, field greens and it came with a garlic cream sauce which was delicious. The burritos were very tasty, and everything was very, very fresh! We had a bit of a wait, but this was expected because we went right during lunch. That's our fault. This shop started out in Springfield off Main Street and has expanded to a couple of different locations, this one included, and for good reason! I would argue that Subo has some of the best quality sushi in town and even better, it's offered in the form of a fun sushi burrito. They've expanded their menu to also include bowl and sushi options, but they are definitely popular for the burritos. Our favorites are the samurai and dragon burritos, which are on the pricier end of the spectrum. They do have simpler burritos for about $9 a piece if you are looking for something cheaper. All of their sauces are made in house and can be ordered on the side. We especially love the sweet wasabi sauce. They also have non-fish options, can make vegetarian options and have a kids menu. Highly recommend stopping by any of their locations, but the south Eugene one is definitely convenient. read more

We usually hit up the food truck in the whit for subo but we were over here and decided to try this location. We tried to order online but there was something weird with the menu that wasn't showing the chicken as an option(we've had this happen at whit location too) which is what we get. So we went in to order. The whole place just smells like fryer oil which isn't exactly pleasant especially if you were going to eat there and if you were someone who was ordering food that's not fried I'd imagine it'd be even more off putting. We got our food Togo and it was normal delicious subo quality and enjoyable until I found a long black hair stuck in my burrito. This hair was so stuck it couldn't even be pulled out. I get that this does happen but maybe some hair nets or at least pulled back hair would help with this. We have been back to the truck in the whit but probably won't be rushing up here anytime soon. read more

Sorry, but never again. I got food poisoning from the tiger shrimp burrito last night. I woke up at 4 am this morning throwing up what i had ate. It smelled a little off to begin with. It's not a very sanitary environment and the service is only mediocre. I watched the sushi chef stop in back to open a beer bottle for a customer with the same gloves he was preparing food with. Loved that everything is freshly prepared so there is a wait, you can alter/create to your hearts desire and you can skip the rice and still enjoy. Walked in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Service was really fast and everything tasted super fresh. The burritos are fairly large, enough for me to split it with someone and feel full. We ordered the black widow and the Cajun sauce on it was so good. It wasn't too spicy so it didn't over power the flavor of the burrito. I loved the shrimp tempura in the burrito because it added a nice temperature difference and the cucumbers had a great crunch. The dining area is pretty plain so there's not much to say as far as ambiance. That's alright for a quick lunch spot. I would say it's a bit pricey though. My boyfriend and I went here for dinner. I got the Crispy Chicken Teriyaki and he got the Tuna Poke bowl. We both really enjoyed the food! He loved the balance of his bowl, and i loved the flavor and the teriyaki sauce. The chicken was fried and perfectly cooked and the rice was nice and soft and fluffy. And all their sauces were house made and the ones we had were delicious. The people working there were so kind and friendly. They spoke clearly and were super polite. They were quick to get our food out and just overall super delightful. The inside space was a little small, but we also didn't go over into the Crow bar where there is more seating. So....for years my Caucasian husband (who doesn't like sushi) has been bringing me home supermarket boxed sushi from various places, and after I take a first bite, he looks at me sheepishly, "...decent?" Other than one sushi joint in town owned by a Japanese sushi chef from Japan by way of NYC, I'm not sure there is excellent authentic sushi in Eugene. Please chime in if I'm mistaken! There is fresh fish, don't get me wrong....but excellent sushi...? 'Not sure. Well, that leads me to Subo. They don't try to be traditional Japanese sushi. They do something different--fresh, fun. Their fish is served in burritos or in bowls. And most importantly, their rice isn't over-vinegar'd or too sweet or mushy. And....it's purple! I love it! My favorite choice is to build my own bowl with double-portioned salmon, wakame, jalapeños, garlic sauce and spicy Mayo. I sometimes add the grilled asparagus. Their portions are surprisingly generous. It's one way for me to get my raw fish fix in a somewhat Japanese manner without it being a sushi disappointment. The whole bowl costs me $15-16 and I am full. It definitely beats supermarket sushi which costs around the same. read more
